We ended up staying at the Royal Hotel very unexpectedly after missing our flight. We called quite late, close to midnight, and they were able to accommodate us with a King Suite at short notice, which we really appreciated. Considering the time, the staff did assist us and kept things moving, and one of the ladies at reception was especially friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself is beautiful. The entrance and overall exterior create a lovely first impression, and the room was aesthetically very nice. The atmosphere was great and the outside areas of the rooms are well maintained. It definitely feels like a four-star property in terms of appearance.
However, there was one major issue that unfortunately overshadowed the stay. The room had a significant ant problem. There were ants on the headboard, crawling around the room, and even on the bed. In the morning, a small opening in a bag we had left slightly open was filled with ants. It was quite unsettling and made us uncomfortable leaving anything exposed. For a hotel of this standard, that was disappointing.
Another small concern was that a very young-looking teenager assisted with our luggage. He appeared to be around 15–17 years old and was dressed casually. It felt slightly unprofessional for a hotel of this category. Perhaps he was off-duty or part of training, but it did feel unusual.
We only stayed for about three hours before leaving early for the airport, so we didn’t experience much beyond that. Overall, the property itself is beautiful and the late-night accommodation was appreciated, but the ant issue definitely needs urgent attention.
