This is a historic hotel with good size rooms and an amazing view of the harbour. Lots of history here, very good dining room with excellent food and service. The bar was friendly and service very good. The whole island was very interesting and there were many wonderful views of the hills and ocean. Many interesting shops here.

As a family spent every summer in this area, hidden gem of Kerry, loads to do and see. Royal Hotel in fabulous location, lovely views from the hotel. Hotel is full of history, beautifully maintained, staff very helpful and friendly. Great choice for breakfast.|Great lunch and dinner menu. Lovely to have tea and coffee option in room. For those who know the area huge advantage to head off for the day snd have evening meal booked on return. Second time staying will be back.

This hotel is in an amazing location on the Island of Valentia. The hotel is full of character and history. The staff here are fantastic and were very welcoming and nothing was a problem, they were always looking to help and ensured that we had everything we needed. The manager Guy really makes the place, he told us he has a great team of people and he also made it his business to chat with us along with other guests in the hotel, a real touch of class. Breakfast was really nice and a great selection was available for any fussy eaters. We ate in the hotel one of the nights and the food was fab, it is the best fish and chips I have ever had anywhere. Finally, great staff, location, food and great value for money which is hard to find anymore in Ireland. Well done Royal Hotel Valentia

We had the most amazing stay . Welcome was so warm ( we even met the receptionist later on a walk and she stopped for a chat ) Room was lovely on the ground floor. Bed was so comfy and the food was fabulous and as there aren’t many restaurants the quality was exceptional and we ate here both nights-shout out to Michelle who is so efficient and friendly. Location is great -right on the harbour- we took our after dinner drinks outside to watch the sunset. Weather was fabulous and we were out all the time -we hired bikes south Kerry bikes which were delivered to the hotel but be warned the island is very hilly( the journey up from the lighthouse was tough but otherwise really nice to cycle . Lovely walk to Bray head to get some fabulous views. Geokaun is worth the climb. ( there is a loo here but you have to ask for key) and the cycle along the top road is beautiful. Lots to do and see -we really enjoyed our stay and would definitively come back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Valentia, to include dinner. A great stay with water view and a terrific meal in the restaurant. The lamb shank and hake were perfectly done. Great bar environment. Staff is terrific. Highly recommend a stay.

To be honest, the Royal Valentia leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know whether it was because we visited off season (October) but we were most definitely underwhelmed. We thought the hotel was grubby, the welcome at reception was poor (robotic), our room was dirty (corners not vacumned, cold tap ran hot, shower head needs replacing), the restaurant food was, at best, bar food quality, the restaurant service was poor (including forgetting part of our order). The breakfast was better, but again the staff were cold and uninterested. Overall, underwhelming and very very poor value for money.

Excellent hotel, we had a very comfortable stay! The rooms are very clean, nice and comfortable with a lovely view over the sea. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the portions are huge. Would recommend this hotel for a Valentia Island trip. The hotel is right beside the car ferry. The stay was a gift for my girlfriend and the staff were very helpful before arrival in organizing a bottle of prosecco in the room on arrival as a surprise for her!

This is a lovely hotel on Valentia Island. It is slightly old-fashioned and all the better for that. The room we stayed in was large with comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had dinner on the second evening and it was really good. The early sitting was a little noisy as we were there during school holidays.

Yelp
While we didn't stay here, we DID enjoy the best seafood chowder in Ireland during our (all too brief) visit. Pop in for a relaxing pint, and a delicious meal, while letting the parade of buses going the opposite way on the Ring of Kerry pass you by. The fish and chips were not only delicious, the servings were massive! Ask about the daily joint as well. When you're finished, drive onto the ferry for a short ride to the mainland.

Yelp
Amazing place, the heart of Valentia! Right on the harbour. Rooms are done tastefully, very clean and well maintained. Also have hostel rooms available which are very well presented! Bar offers food which is to restaurant standards. Loads to choose from all which is very tasty! Also bar food and sandwiches. Different events throughout the year, halloween parties, festivals, Santa visit, Christmas parties, music nights, quiz nights, bands etc. Pool Table down the back. The staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly and great for advise on what to see and happenings on the area. During warmer months April-Oct car ferry, leaves you out side!

Yelp
We only ate here once for and early dinner. We tried their hake with cream dill sauce. It was pretty delicious. We didn't get a chance to stay at their hotel since we ended up staying at the Atlantic Villa B&B. It is such a small town that everyone knows each other. Jackie from Atlantic Villa recommended visiting The Royal Valentia to me specifically because I have Filipino blood in me and she said there's actually Filipinos in this Island :D So I wanted to meet them. However Rowena was not there when we visited the hotel. I did however meet her sister Rosie at the Walsh store up the street. Anyways, I got a little off topic there. The service was great and the good was good, so we left satisfied, satiated, and happy.

Yelp
Those crab claws, a must order! We weren't expecting much due to pretty much no other options on the island for dinner, but geez were we pleasantly surprised. A cozy environment, beautiful views right along the water, with a hearty traditional irish menu. We will be sure to suggest this stop to others. GOAL Traveler Approved! :)

Yelp
Visited in late June 2016. Pros = Good central location (or as central as you can be in Valentia), nice view overlooking the harbour, plenty of seating, free parking out front, pleasantly decorated (lots of pictures of locals and historical images (nothing overly touristy)), reasonably priced, staff were friendly and capable. The seafood chowder was EXCELLENT! I was trying alot of seafood during my travels in Kerry (especially chowder), and the one I got in the Royal was by far the best. In fact I would say it is the best I've ever had. The Guinness was pretty good too. Neat looking up-cycled smoking area at the back. Cons = The pool table needed to be re-felted (torn on the middle pocket). The toasted sandwiches were tasty, but needed some garnish (maybe some salad, a few crisps or chips....just something). I didn't like them being served in the little baskets.
