This hotel is in an amazing location on the Island of Valentia. The hotel is full of character and history. The staff here are fantastic and were very welcoming and nothing was a problem, they were always looking to help and ensured that we had everything we needed. The manager Guy really makes the place, he told us he has a great team of people and he also made it his business to chat with us along with other guests in the hotel, a real touch of class. Breakfast was really nice and a great selection was available for any fussy eaters. We ate in the hotel one of the nights and the food was fab, it is the best fish and chips I have ever had anywhere. Finally, great staff, location, food and great value for money which is hard to find anymore in Ireland. Well done Royal Hotel Valentia

Excellent hotel, we had a very comfortable stay! The rooms are very clean, nice and comfortable with a lovely view over the sea. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the portions are huge. Would recommend this hotel for a Valentia Island trip. The hotel is right beside the car ferry. The stay was a gift for my girlfriend and the staff were very helpful before arrival in organizing a bottle of prosecco in the room on arrival as a surprise for her!

We had the most amazing stay . Welcome was so warm ( we even met the receptionist later on a walk and she stopped for a chat ) Room was lovely on the ground floor. Bed was so comfy and the food was fabulous and as there aren’t many restaurants the quality was exceptional and we ate here both nights-shout out to Michelle who is so efficient and friendly. Location is great -right on the harbour- we took our after dinner drinks outside to watch the sunset. Weather was fabulous and we were out all the time -we hired bikes south Kerry bikes which were delivered to the hotel but be warned the island is very hilly( the journey up from the lighthouse was tough but otherwise really nice to cycle . Lovely walk to Bray head to get some fabulous views. Geokaun is worth the climb. ( there is a loo here but you have to ask for key) and the cycle along the top road is beautiful. Lots to do and see -we really enjoyed our stay and would definitively come back.

We had a wonderful experience at the Royal Valentia Hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always making sure that everything went smoothly during my stay. The restaurant was excellent, with delicious food and a great variety of gluten-free options, which I really appreciated, since one of us is coeliac.Overall, it was a perfect stay, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

We celebrated our wedding at the Valentia Royal Hotel, and it was absolutely breathtaking. Located right by the ocean, the setting created a perfect, magical atmosphere that made our day truly unforgettable. The food was amazing and delighted all our guests, adding to the wonderful experience. A special thanks to Laura, the wedding coordinator, who supported us throughout the entire process with such a calm, easygoing, and professional approach. Even though we were organizing everything from Germany, and mostly communicated via email, everything ran smoothly, and she made everything effortless for us. We spent the night in the stunning bridal suite, which was beautifully decorated and incredibly comfortable. The next morning, we enjoyed a wonderful, personalized breakfast that was the perfect way to start our new life together. Our wedding day was simply perfect, filled with joy and beautiful moments. We couldn’t have wished for a better place to celebrate and would gladly do it all over again at Valentia Royal Hotel. Laura & Paudie

One of the nicest places we have stayed. We recommend staying at the Royal Valentia Hotel for delicious food, relaxation and excellent service The staff are friendly and efficient. Bríd, at reception, is very engaging, helpful and informative. She makes everyone feel welcome. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean while retaining a unique style not found in many modern hotels. There are historical pictures and artefacts everywhere and the relaxed atmosphere invites you to explore and browse. The food ( we had breakfasts and dinners) is excellent and there are plenty of options for anyone with special dietary needs. The Royal Valentia Hotel is a gem: offering the best of service alongside warm welcomes and friendly chats. This type of hospitality was once the norm in Ireland but is sadly disappearing. We hope the Royal Valentia Hotel doesn’t change as we (& lots of our friends) plan lots more visits.

This is a lovely hotel on Valentia Island. It is slightly old-fashioned and all the better for that. The room we stayed in was large with comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had dinner on the second evening and it was really good. The early sitting was a little noisy as we were there during school holidays.

What a magnificent place to stay. The staff are always on hand to give you great advice on activities on the island and help with any questions you might have. The bar is an amazing place to eat too! Highly highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yelp
While we didn't stay here, we DID enjoy the best seafood chowder in Ireland during our (all too brief) visit. Pop in for a relaxing pint, and a delicious meal, while letting the parade of buses going the opposite way on the Ring of Kerry pass you by. The fish and chips were not only delicious, the servings were massive! Ask about the daily joint as well. When you're finished, drive onto the ferry for a short ride to the mainland.

Yelp
Amazing place, the heart of Valentia! Right on the harbour. Rooms are done tastefully, very clean and well maintained. Also have hostel rooms available which are very well presented! Bar offers food which is to restaurant standards. Loads to choose from all which is very tasty! Also bar food and sandwiches. Different events throughout the year, halloween parties, festivals, Santa visit, Christmas parties, music nights, quiz nights, bands etc. Pool Table down the back. The staff are lovely, very helpful and friendly and great for advise on what to see and happenings on the area. During warmer months April-Oct car ferry, leaves you out side!

Yelp
We only ate here once for and early dinner. We tried their hake with cream dill sauce. It was pretty delicious. We didn't get a chance to stay at their hotel since we ended up staying at the Atlantic Villa B&B. It is such a small town that everyone knows each other. Jackie from Atlantic Villa recommended visiting The Royal Valentia to me specifically because I have Filipino blood in me and she said there's actually Filipinos in this Island :D So I wanted to meet them. However Rowena was not there when we visited the hotel. I did however meet her sister Rosie at the Walsh store up the street. Anyways, I got a little off topic there. The service was great and the good was good, so we left satisfied, satiated, and happy.

Yelp
Those crab claws, a must order! We weren't expecting much due to pretty much no other options on the island for dinner, but geez were we pleasantly surprised. A cozy environment, beautiful views right along the water, with a hearty traditional irish menu. We will be sure to suggest this stop to others. GOAL Traveler Approved! :)

Yelp
Visited in late June 2016. Pros = Good central location (or as central as you can be in Valentia), nice view overlooking the harbour, plenty of seating, free parking out front, pleasantly decorated (lots of pictures of locals and historical images (nothing overly touristy)), reasonably priced, staff were friendly and capable. The seafood chowder was EXCELLENT! I was trying alot of seafood during my travels in Kerry (especially chowder), and the one I got in the Royal was by far the best. In fact I would say it is the best I've ever had. The Guinness was pretty good too. Neat looking up-cycled smoking area at the back. Cons = The pool table needed to be re-felted (torn on the middle pocket). The toasted sandwiches were tasty, but needed some garnish (maybe some salad, a few crisps or chips....just something). I didn't like them being served in the little baskets.
