Brilliant stay the room was great and the housekeeper got it ready when we arrived early. We were welcomed and served a drink. The room was well equipped and was all we hoped. We booked a meal and had the Duck which was amazing. The service was really good. We were made welcome by the staff. We had a breakfast that was served by the manager and was jolly.

Absolutely fantastic pub! The service was outstanding, even better food, great selections of drinks, and reasonably priced. Loved the three ale tasting paddle, what a great idea. It was cosy and welcoming inside. Recommend booking in advance.

Food very well cooked and good quality. In all a cosy pleasant albeit tucked away pub, that hasn't tried to be too pretentious. Prices comparable with most nice pubs. Would recommend although well off our normal beaten track living in Devon..

Second visit with friends. Has become an annual tradition. We stayed over (this year I managed not to split my forehead open on the low beam in Ashcombe…). Service is truly exceptional and the ambience perfect. We asked for the chateaubriand for 3 (not 2 per menu) and the crew really delivered. Ate far too much food, drank far too much gin. Beautiful dark night sky. Will do it all again next year.

The best meal we have had out in a long long time. Food, service ambience all excellent. We are local (Tisbury) and in my opinion The Royal Oak is at least 2 stars better than the well known very highly rated (by the Sunday Times) Beckford Arms in Tisbury which is not bad. Absolutely fantastic couple of hours. Cannot over recommend.

First experience wasn't too good. The car park is covered in holes, craters and bumps. Managed to 'ground' my car when entering. It would be nice if they could sort it out, maybe tarmac it over. It's a nice location, nicely appointed. Customer service was good. Hadn't booked but they fitted us in....just needed to wait half an hour. Had a drink and sat in front of log fire on comfy Chesterfield Sofa. Food was variable. Agreed probably 7/10. Nothing special. We were a little disappointed to be honest. Decor, ambience was nice. Couldn't really give 4 stars....had to give 3. Somewhere in between.

How all gastro-pubs should be! A very warm welcome, Chris was awesome & made us feel at home for our entire stay. The staff were very accommodating, and went to enormous trouble to make my brother’s 21st birthday special. Food was impeccable, drink selection was great with an impressive wine list too. I will definitely be returning. Thank you

My wife and I had a lovely time at the pub. We stayed for two nights, the pub is situated in rural Salisbury and it is the only real peace I had in 3 years. We met James, affable gentlement, prepared to talk and make us feel comfortable and at ease. Thank, you for making our stay a pleasurable one. Apologies for accidentally taking the room keys, we had returned them! God bless. james & Ankita

Yelp
Nice pub with good fish and chips and a generous steak and ale pie with chips. Great view behind the bar overlooking the Salisbury countryside. Our friends liked their Pride of London Ale. Clean restrooms and reasonable prices. Food made to order so wait can be a bit long . The mustard in the mash potatoes was a nice touch.
