Cannot really recommend this hotel. While it is in a convenient location close to the station, with a convenience store on the ground floor, and the staff are polite and attentive, the negatives far outweighed this:
The facilities show their age, and the room we stayed in was uncomfortably small. One major issue with it was the emergency exit window. Although it’s designed only to be opened in case of an emergency, there was a gap in the frame. This caused a high-pitched whistling sound at night, which made sleeping very difficult.
The breakfast was the biggest disappointment however; the main dish one could order was good, but neither the Western nor the Japanese breakfast at the buffet were acceptable. It would have been better if they provide only one of the two, but with what you would normally expect:
• Western breakfast: The coffee was thin and watery, barely drinkable. Only one flavor of jam, an artificial-tasting strawberry, was available, with no butter or margarine provided. Waffles and pancakes were offered, but there were no typical toppings like maple syrup or honey. Instead, they had soy cream and something labeled “hot molasses,” which might appeal to some but wouldn’t suit most guests. Also the rest of the food and drinks were clearly low-quality, including cheap sausages and beverages with only 10% actual fruit juice.
• Japanese breakfast: no fish, no nori, no hijiki etc. Basically only rice with natto and salad.
The staff genuinely tried their best and provided friendly service, but their efforts couldn’t compensate for the hotel’s overly cost-conscious management. If the pricing reflected the level of quality, it might have been acceptable. Unfortunately, given how much we paid, the stay was far from satisfactory and ranks among the least enjoyable hotel experiences we’ve had compared to other places.
