The Royal Snail Hotel

I stayed here in March of 2025 and over all it was wonderful. Very cute room with huge windows and an...interesting wall mural. The staff was very nice, the internet was speedy, the location was near everything, but not in the middle so low noise. The single problem was getting any hot water in the tub. I stayed there for almost a week and only got hot water for a good bath once. Would stay there again.

We booked 15 rooms for a company offsite and I need to say we had a great time in the hotel. The staff was very attentive and they also very understanding of some last minute changes we had to operate. Would certainly reccomend for business trips (next to the private ones obviously)!

This review is about the restaurant, not the hotel. Food was excellent but staff in the restaurant kept on speaking French although we indicated we didn’t understand it. No English / Dutch. This is the first regional capital in Europe I’ve travelled to where they refuse to speak the majority language of the country or English. Again, the food was great, so if you’re fluent in French, by all means go there. But if you don’t, then don’t go. At these prices I expect good food AND good service.

Front desk a bit abrupt but overall very helpful. The room is nice enough and the free parking out front is good, albeit limited. Some outlets didn’t work and I was under the desk plugging in the coffee maker that also didn’t work! These Maintenance issues should be reported

The restaurant here is genuinely very good, definitely worth a visit. However, DO NOT stay in their hotel rooms. We had a horrible experience with a massive spider infestation in our room - spent the whole night killing spiders coming from behind curtains and crawling on the ceiling. Couldn't open windows due to dozens more spiders outside. Air conditioning was also broken, making the room unbearably hot. Zero sleep after a long bike ride. Management acknowledged all these issues but only offered a 50% discount for a future stay, then became hostile when we requested a reasonable refund. When I mentioned I might need to share this experience through reviews, they threatened to file a complaint against me for "false statements" - despite having already acknowledged in emails that my entire account was accurate. They also said they would respond to any review, so I'm genuinely curious to see their response now. No warnings provided about their ongoing pest problems. Try the restaurant, but stay literally anywhere else in Namur. UPDATE AFTER MANAGEMENT RESPONSE: Thank you for proving my point about your unprofessional approach to customer service. Let me correct your inaccuracies: I DID inform reception the morning after our stay, exactly as I stated in my emails (which you have, so you know this is true). The receptionist acknowledged the issues and specifically recommended I email management, which I did. We didn't request a room change at midnight because we were exhausted after a long bike ride, had unpacked, and kept hoping each spider we caught would be the last so we could finally get some sleep. When you're that tired, changing rooms at midnight is the last thing you want to do - you just want the problem to stop. Your claim that "nothing unusual was detected" contradicts your own emails where you explicitly acknowledged both the spider infestation ("with the green facade and the river in front of the hotel, we have to deal with this problem") and the broken air conditioning ("our technician came to the hotel and had to deal with a leak"). You can't simultaneously acknowledge problems in writing and then claim they don't exist. As for "extortion" - asking for a refund of roughly €100 for unusable accommodation must surely be the smallest attempted extortion in history! I was transparently explaining that unresolved customer service issues naturally lead to honest reviews. That's not blackmail, that's just how customer feedback works in 2025. Also be accurate and write that you offered a 50% discount for a future stay only (not for the current one, which we would have accepted) - something that would obviously never happen after spending a sleepless night killing spiders in a broken room. It's hardly meaningful compensation when it's for a service no reasonable person would ever want to use again. Your hostile and dishonest response here perfectly demonstrates why this situation escalated unnecessarily. A simple apology and reasonable refund (the gesture would have counted, not the amount) would have resolved everything privately, but instead you chose threats and accusations.

Location is good. Rooms with balcony are fine, everything is there. Elevator was broken, lasted 3 days. Breakfast not worth €20.

Dropped our bags early and went to explore. Came back to check in at around 7pm. Our river view room was road and car view, asked to change, not possible. Really noisy with people chatting outside the windows throughout the night.|Checking did not mention spa or pool use at all|Toilet separate but no sink to wash hands, pretty pointless. Shower rail came away from wall. Not a 4 star at all

Excellent all round. Modern and well maintained. The food was fantastic as were the staff here, very friendly and welcoming. The pool on the patio is quite small but refreshing in temperatures in the high 20’s low 30’s. More a plunge pool. Our sincerest thanks to the entire staff, so friendly so patient

Super cute space along the water in Namur. Close to a lot of restaurants and you could walk to the citadel from here. The hotel is a boutique hotel so the rooms are quirky and a little dark. They gave me a top floor with a balcony and pool access. It was pretty magical. The pool is a little small and it's in the center of the facility where everyone can see you if you swim. The breakfast was good and the dinner at their restaurant was really great. Super good food. It's small and the staff is a little on the young side, but overall great. Good selection of beligium beers too. The train station is about a mile away. I took a cab because I had a lot of luggage, you could walk it as they have a lot of bridges over the water. They don't speak a lot of English, but if both parties are trying to can get through it.

A very nice hotel. The room I had was not very large bit very well designed and felt very comfortable as a frequent traveler. The restaurant was very good. A strong recommendation for people to eat in the hotel. Good wines and nice service. I would say some courses were close to a Michelin star level. Certainly a hotel that I would consider coming back to.
