A fantastic resort hotel with a great beach steps from the property. The staff were all helpful and willing to accommodate our needs. We had purchased a whole pineapple at a fruit stand and had no way of cutting it. We mentioned this to a staff member, and they were able and willing to bring it to their kitchens and dice it for us. Incredible service. The room was updated and clean. The bed was comfortable.

The accommodations were pleasant for a resort that does not offer an all-inclusive experience. While the rooms were simple, and the buffet was rather expensive, the omelet station was a highlight. Unfortunately, we did not have the opportunity to dine at the Italian restaurant. The hotel staff provided excellent service. Its proximity to the airport, approximately six to eight minutes away, was a significant advantage. The presence of a neighboring hotel with a casino and nearby restaurants added to the convenience. However, the early closure of the beach and swim-up bar at 7 p.m. was a drawback, especially considering the lack of evening entertainment. Extending the bar's hours to at least 9 p.m. and the beach's hours to 8 p.m. would be preferable. Despite these minor issues, it was a pleasant stay. Puerto Rico would greatly benefit from the addition of all-inclusive resorts.

Rooms are amazing here. Everything from the beds, showers, view, and cleanliness are all great. The beach is also superb as well. The pool is another story altogether. I have cleaned bilges out of Louisiana shrimp boats that have cleaner water than this pool. The bottom is filled with cups from the pool bar, and floating on the surface are straws, q-tips??, and more bird feathers than an aviary. Additionally, after staying in a few different resorts around PR, I don’t recommend Royal Sonesta for families with small children. There is definitely a preferred demographic and I do not feel as though it caters to families particularly well.

I booked a resort pass with the RS through Resort Pass. I had a pedicure appointment with Revamp Nails across the street and then walked over after. When I went to the front desk, I was greeted immediately with a smile. The clerk pulled up my name, got me checked in, and gave me my wristband. She explained where everything was and told me once I changed, I could bring my luggage back for the bellman to keep during my visit. I also received a voucher for a complimentary drink at one of the bars on the property. I was able to find a lounge chair with an umbrella by the pool. I ordered a salad and got my complimentary drink. Both were great! The pool and jacuzzi were clean and the perfect temperature. Next time I come, I may just have to stay here. The service was just amazing here. Special thanks to the front desk, the bellmen, and the bartenders for making my day here feel so special!

The amenities are nice. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. The hotel looks clean. Check-in was a breeze. You can walk to the beach right from the pool area which is great. There are lots of good food options in the area.

Google
Location was amazing, right next the beach and easy access to pharmacy/grocery store. They kept rooms clean and offered 2 bottles of water each day which was nice. The only issue I had was the room key or bracelet stopped working and they had to change it 2x as well as the door lock, they had to drill and replace it 2x while I was there for a week. Staff was very responsive and nice.

Google
Positive: Every single person that worked there was very polite and helpful. They went out of their way for me. The hotel was very beautiful and clean. I appreciated the full gym on site. LOVED the towel station for the pools and chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Negative: I didn't care for the breakfast buffet. Everything else was tasty there besides this.

My friend and I were visiting for the weekend after a rough travel experience getting to Puerto Rico. The moment we arrived, everything changed for the better. We were warmly welcomed by Javier at the front door, who helped us store our luggage—he was friendly and super helpful, setting the tone right away. At check-in, Nestor, the Chief Concierge, completely turned our mood around. He was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make us feel at ease. His professionalism and warmth were unmatched. Down by the pool, Jeni, the poolside server, truly delivered some of the best hospitality we’ve ever experienced. She checked in on us consistently and made sure we had everything we needed, always with a smile and a great attitude. The hotel grounds and rooms were spotless, and the overall atmosphere was beautiful and relaxing. What started as a stressful trip quickly became a magical getaway thanks to the amazing staff. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The resort location was pretty close to airport. The staff was amazing including concierge, cleaning and hotel / restaurant staff. I was honestly disappointed by few things though - 1. We had a leakage from the fridge in our room because of which the floor was always wet. 2. There were hidden charges on the name of "resort fee" per day totaling of 150$ which was added while check out. I already paid for the rooms using my card and no one informed me of those charges during check in.. We definitely enjoyed the view and the room. It was nice to see the beach anytime of the day.

Yelp
We had the best day doing a day pass at the Royal Sonesta this past Saturday for my birthday. Again, we did not stay and I have no clue about the rooms but the day pass was amazing! We rented cabana #5 which was right next to the pool and had a friend join us on a spa day pass. We were greeted by our cabana host who offered a bottle of champagne (we don't drink) and water bottles on ice (which they regularly changed out the ice to keep cold). Plus later brought us the most delicious fruit tray. The cabana guy regularly checked in on us and brought us our orders from the restaurant. We ordered lunch - wings, lobster rolls, tostonos, and several virgin piña coladas. As past of the resort pass, you also have access to the beach and the beach chairs/umbrellas. We did go enjoy the beach, but we didn't actually take advantage of the chair, but the beach view was amazing. I'm not sure if I would stay at this hotel because the reviews don't look amazing but at least the day pass was 5 out of 5!!

Yelp
So we didn't technically stay at the Royal Sonesta San Juan, but did we basically live there? Also yes. For our annual girls' trip, celebrating my homegirl's milestone birthday, we booked an Airbnb next door, which, let's just say, was lacking in the amenities department. Enter: the Royal Sonesta day pass, aka the best investment of our trip. From the moment we shackled ourselves to the outdoor bar, we knew we had found our true home. The bartenders? Absolute saints. Not only did they keep us hydrated (in the boozy sense, of course), but they also patiently played photographer for us every single day. Seriously, give these folks a raise. The food? Oh, it hit hard! We somehow managed to order the caprese salad every single day (not kidding!) and that pesto sauce? A masterpiece. We also devoured the angus burger, fish tacos, club sandwich, and chicken wings--all washed down with an impressive amount of alcohol because, well... girls' trip. And when our flights got delayed? Right back to the bar we went, like it was our full-time job. No regrets. Would we stay here next time? Probably. But even if we don't, you'll still find us posted up at the bar, pestering the sweet staff for another round and one more group photo.

Yelp
This was was a resort my friend wanted to celebrate his 50th birthday. They had celebrated the brother's 50th birthday there and decided to go again the minute we got there there was some AC problems in a very hot place like Puerto Rico. There was no AC when we went to the counter to check in and they told us the problem they said the option is Look for another hotel with a AC and they would refund us the money or stay, but they didn't know when the situation was going to be fixed. I find that their approach was unacceptable for a party over 50 people that were attending the celebration for a friend of ours. They didn't offer maybe placing a fans in the rooms until the situation got fixed. They didn't offer any vouchers for maybe a free breakfast or dinner or something in the resort they didn't offer any discount on the stay or a refund of anything or whatever amount they just said point-blank there's no AC you could stay or you could go. I never stood up in a resort in NPR and I don't think I will ever again because of the service that I was given, so it was two of us that got there early. I had another group of friends. They were about six girls they came in. They were told the same thing, but with them they will offer $87 back due to the inconvenience of the AC. Why weren't we offer that when we check, we were the first ones to check in so I felt that they were organized. They were not on the same page. How can you offer somebody money back how you could offer some another group fans when you told me there was no fans How can you offer somebody money when you told me you guys were in discounting anything there was no complementary anything with this. The AC did up coming up early morning, but still the service was unacceptable. Then I'm being charged for hotel fees, which was almost $400 then to tell me they put a hold on that but I'm only getting less than half of it I've gone to plenty of resorts and I never was charged a fee so plus the flight and the hotel stay I had to pay extra money And again I was a day without AC no complementary anything. I just think this was robbery and then the staff there had a attitude from the front desk to the staff from the pool area and the beach they all had attitude nobody I can't say nobody, but some people were pleasant. Some people weren't And if you in that industry, you have to have a good customer service you have to attract the customers to give you a good reviews and want to stay there from day one the minute I step foot there I didn't want to stay there, but I stood there because my friend had his birthday celebration there and we were over 50 people to move over 50 people on a weekend to the hotel was not ideal and they didn't make any accommodation to make this work, but we made the best of it and and try to enjoy ourselves, regardless how the hotel staff policy environment was so if it would've been a better experience, I would've gave it Good review but for me if this was the worst service I ever received for an expensive place where I could've gone someplace else with everything included better atmosphere and better staff.

Yelp
We stayed on our recent trip to the San Juan area. Pluses: Close to the beach. Great pool with swim up bar. Attentive cleaning. There is a casino within walking distance. Nice room with great view. Minuses: The area is very touristy, There aren't many great local food and/or drink businesses in the walkable area. You'll have to Uber or drive to most things of interest. The coffee bar is just OK. The elevators can be slow. Overall, The beach and pool win above all else. 4 Stars

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! Right when we pulled up i was impressed! The lobby is beautiful but it's the back pool area, SO beautiful! It's a area you just wanna hang out, drink in hand! Our rooms were beautiful and comfortable, that AC was blasting! It was not cheap to stay here, food and drinks were pricey too, but lots of restaurants close around you can walk to. Great area to walk around too, we loved staying here :)

Yelp
"Unfriendly and not transparent Not sure why one would hire staff who know how to deal with people. Some examples - Asked about late checkout and was told to check the day of. On check out day, I was asked "what time my flight was leaving", maybe you want to know what I ate for breakfast too. And was told 2 pm with the snarkiness of high school girl. For context, my AMEX entitled me to late checkout to 4 pm unless unavailable, so she wasn't giving me the biggest gift in the world - Bill was not fully itemized and I had to ask for more detail because I didn't see the room credit I had. I was looked at as if I was an alien - Food isn't that good - Drinks are ok with the best one a mojito or tamarind spicy margarita - Good luck with beach towels. Sometimes they have them, sometimes not On the plus side, the beach is nice and so is the pool area

Yelp
While visiting in Puerto Rico, my spa services was held here. I believe the spas cause zen spa Kind of small in regards to other spas that I'm used to going in my home state. There's only two showers and not real shower doors. More like curtains. They do have a small lounge for relaxation and a steam and sunroom. What I didn't like when getting my massage it does the therapist staying in the room. It was a male therapist. He stayed in the room with the towel held up. But I definitely would have preferred if he stepped outside the room and let me get up under the covers. Be comfortable so I can get situated. I don't know his name but yeah I I did not like that

Yelp
This hotel is turning out to be underwhelming. I believe my sister and I were singled out. My sister planned an immaculate 60th birthday trip for our mom. There were about 20 guest in our party. We all traveled from different areas. All stayed here. My experience was not what I expected. The hotel is small. There is just one pool. The pool does have an amazing swim up bar. You can order drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic & food. The food is great. I suggest the wings. The coconut mojitos!!! The large specialty drink, I cannot recall the name of it. (It's red and yellow) it's delicious and the perfect amount of liquor + it's big) On our 3rd day we rented a poolside cabana! Unfortunately the process was unclear, unorganized and the pool staff attacked us verbally. He insinuated that we were trespassing, he then went on to say we didn't belong there. We let him know the front desk clerk said we were all squared away and because we were up so early to decorate our cabana we could pick which of the two we wanted. Yes there were only two. They were both side by side. Literally conjoined (see photos). The pool staff/cabana attended Efrain was rude, racist and down right nasty. While he comtinued to tell us we didn't belong there, I asked him to stop speaking to me. I let him know we would go speak to the front desk, which is who we squared this rental away with. It was unfortunate for us, due to their lack of communication the pool staff stated the other cabana was for us. The manager finally came out and let us know we had to move. The other cabana was soaked. When we came out the 1st cabana was also a little wet but we took the time to flip the cushions on the chairs and lay them in the sun. We also had to remove the decorations we came out early to put up. It was clear to us after moving that we were moved because they assumed we were not actual hotel guest. The assumed we were renting the cabana on the day pass. When really we had a whole group staying here. The manager offered no recourse other than saying she would speak to the man named Efrain. People who are allowed to show prejudice in spaces like this should be handled and removed. It is never ok to verbally attack a patron that's paying to stay in your hotel. While spending their hard earned money and following all stated rules on said property. We were treated like we didn't belong and also made out to be liars as he told us what we saying was not true. The hotel staff overall was ok. Nothing spectacular. I will say there was a very pleasant he offered nightlife suggestions. Grab rides for our large group outings and was overall the best staff member we came across. (Bald and had a bandaid on his head) The rooms didn't seem to get cleaned, just extra towels each day. Luckily we weren't in our room much, other people in our group described cleaning staff not coming even when requested. Trash piling up in hall areas. Centrally located, so you have plenty of restaurants, shops, grocery stores, night life and etc within walking distance. I most likely would not return to this hotel as there are so many other options that may offer a better experience.

Yelp
I'm a foodie at heart so I focused more on the food they provided to me during my stay rather than the hotel but I did manage to capture some amazing pics and video of some of the amenities! The venue itself was what I would consider luxurious! Very spacious with marble everywhere! Indoor and outdoor bar with a bungalow bar by the pool area. It has direct access to the beach which closes each day at 7pm. You have access to the beach chairs with umbrella of your a guest! The rooms are huge and beds are as soft as a baby's bottom! loved that they have a saxophonist play throughout the night and a supporting band! The restaurant is one for the books! Incredible food, decadent chocolate cake! I got a vegan curry, soooo good! Their gym is amazing, all the best equipment! They do have a spa but I didn't experience that! Many of the guests shared that the spa was the highlight of their experience but by the time I got off work, the spa was closed. I'll have to come here on a vacation so I can experience this place during the day and not in the evenings! It's walking distance from many of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico! 1.2 miles from the airport too!

Yelp
PROs: Great location, spacious pool and easy access to the beach. Bed is comfortable and room quiet. CONs: Our room was cold and turning up the temperature did not work. Shower area would flood when showering, forcing you to turn off the shower and wait for the water to go down. Bath sink plug when closed can't open, means the sink won't drain. Calling for service is quick and the maintenance staff are friendly, but I feel sorry for them when they say they can't fix it and they advise not to close the sink plug .

Yelp
Paid $2,200 for 4 nights here and the place is nice but my complain is when I went to use the gym at 3 am, a worker came in and said rudely that you can't be working out in slippers and had me leave the gym. No one was in the gym and he was very dismissive. Can't justify the price of this place if they're treating guests this poorly. Brought it up to the front desk about the bad interaction and they were no help either. Cannot recommend this place at all.

Yelp
A girlfriend getaway had us staying here for a long weekend. I must say things started off rough because the check-in took FOREVER... Upon getting to our room, we discovered a leak in the bathroom, which sent us back down to the lobby for another very long extended wait. *NOTE* I think resorts/hotels should have complimentary refreshments in the lobby to accommodate guests. I think this simple courtesy could go a long way in terms of customer service, especially after arriving and perhaps dealing with a flight delay or travel mishap. I had to request water several times and was finally brought an open cup of water. No lid, bottle, or anything . We were finally taken to our new room, which was fine. We had a mini balcony that had sliding doors that did not open. Otherwise, the room was fine. The views and scenery are wonderful. There are several places to get food, but the hours of availability are very different. The hotel is in a location where you can walk to several stores or restaurants . If you are in need of transportation, there are always services nearby to come and assist. I will go back and try other places in the same area.

Yelp
*** MAIN TIP*** DOWNLOAD THE UBER APP** Taxis will rip you off We stayed in Room 810 from the 13th to the 17th. While the location was convenient. The staff was so unfriendly and not transparent. The food at the hotel was decent. For two, breakfast was easily $80.00. Food and drinks were way overpriced. The room was old, the bathroom was dusty and we had to call to get the internal lock fixed 10 times in two days before someone came to fix it. The rooms smelled mildewy. It was coming out of the air conditioning unit. There was mildew everywhere. DO NOT ASK FOR A TAXI. The guys at the door are ready to rip you off. We rode to Donde Olga for $20.00 with a taxi that was hauled by some from the hotel. The taxi was a van in need of an exhaust and muffler repair. We rode back to the hotel with Uber for $7.00. I had a lot of bites on my body during my stay. I was trying to also stay away from the disgusting cats they had roaming the property along with aggressive blackbirds and pigeons. The only beautiful thing was the beach view. Other than that, this place needs an overhaul. Oh, and they have a resort fee???

Yelp
We stayed at the Royal Sonesta as part of a Costco package deal. The pluses: -facilities were well-kept and clean -lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach were free -nice proximity to the beach, with a beachfront bar - the buffet breakfast we received as part of our package was decent ($32/per person if you had to buy it) - housekeeping did a pretty good job The minuses: - the Wi-Fi absolutely sucked. I never got more than two bars, even in the lobby. And the connection wouldn't hold. - limited food onsite. You could either eat at the beach bar (limited menu), order overpriced room service (also limited menu), or try to get a reservation at the Ruth's Chris Steakhouse that's onsite.....and pay $250 for a dinner for two. There were restaurants within walking distance, depending on how far you wanted to walk, but even with Yelp it was hard to find a decent place to eat. They need their own restaurant, for days when you just don't feel like playing "Food Search". - no poolside service and we rarely saw a bartender at their swim-up bar. - staff was not nearly as friendly as other resorts we've stayed at. - excess seaweed on the beach. While there's a year-long seaweed advisory around the Caribbean, they could've gone the extra mile to clean their beach in the morning. Other places do. Bottom line.....it was ok, but we probably wouldn't stay there again.

Yelp
The front desk was above and beyond on a late night check in. Irianna Rivera was fantastic in getting us all set up with two rooms close to each other. Later to find out that she is a Front Dest Supervisor and that isn't a surprise cause she is well deserved to have that title. I couldn't ask for a better person then Irianna she was Excellent and what a great start to start our stay thanks to her it all got off to a great start and the room and the resort was wonderful. Irianna Rivera is the BEST!!!! Thank You! Ralph K

Yelp
If you are looking for rest and relaxation know that this is one of the noisiest hotels I've ever stayed in. The amenities do not outweigh the noise. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hallways. Even as I write this someone is in the hallway yelling obscenities about their birthday. The food options on site are very limited. The valet parking staff will flag out ignore you as will many of the staff at the pool restaurant. Also, only one of the shower heads worked. The pool is lovely and the beach access is nice but again, not worth the noise.

Yelp
We were very happy with our stay at the Royal Sonesta. The beach and pool area are amazing, truly. The pictures don't really do it justice. There is plenty of shade all throughout the pool area. The staff was very warm and welcoming with the exception of the swim up bar staff. They were fine, just not the same warm demeanor that the other staff showed. However, I give them a huge pass because I am sure that serving a bunch of drunk people swimming around is probably super annoying at times. The restaurant on the beach, Ocean Breeze, has amazing views. However, the food is just ok. We would recommend another restaurant just down the beach, Alambique, that has a nice view AND amazing food. But if you need something quickly, Ocean Breeze meets the mark. I have read other reviews that say that the drinks are expensive. Honestly, we felt like the drink prices were on par with other resorts and even here in our own city at home. One thing to note, when we arrived to our room, we noticed a lot of hair all over the floor. It was as if someone had dried their hair and then cleaned out their brush and all of it was on the bathroom (including the shower wall) and entrance way floor. It could be because the tile is light and it shows everything. Either way, we called down to ask if it could be vacuumed and cleaned. They said they couldn't send anyone up until the next day for housekeeping. The next day, someone did come to for housekeeping but they did zero floor cleaning. The exact same hair was in the exact same place. So I grabbed the broom from the housekeepers and did it myself. Housekeeping was great about all other cleaning processes, including making our bed with clean sheets even. The only issue was the floor and shower but it was pretty gross. Other than that, our stay was wonderful and we had a great time being so close to the beach. We would recommend this hotel if staying in San Juan. Oh and side note, spend LOTS of time in Old San Juan...it is incredible and feels like Europe.

Yelp
We often stay at hotels of this caliber in Puerto Rico and elsewhere in the Caribbean and feel compelled to say that I've never been treated with the care, respect and consideration that I've experienced at this hotel. Every staff member that we had help us was pleasant and genuinely willing and able to make our stay a thoroughly positive time. They accommodated us in every way they could. I especially want to mention the manager of the hotel services, Bernice and her staff. Unfortunately, I simply don't remember everyone's name but want to emphasize that there wasn't a single encounter that was not just wonderful to us. I am grateful and delighted to have stayed here.

Yelp
My sister and I enjoyed our stay here and will be back. The hotel is conveniently located on Isla Verde along a strip of hotels, restaurants and few clubs with Brava next door. There is a 24 hour CVS across the street and a Church's Chicken. When we checked- in, the service was A+ throughout. Properly greeted, Door Man, staff giving directions to the Check- In counter and a Front Desk staff that was friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was on the 15th floor with Ocean View overlooking the pool. The pictures will showcase the room. I would give housekeeping an A+ as well. No wipe marks, crumbs, hair or anything annoying like that! The room has a mini fridge, with bar and coffee station I give 5 stars because I left my speaker by the pool, and freaked out when I couldn't find it! Around 1AM I went to the front desk and it was checked in by their own staff. Also, my sister was celebrating a birthday and we were greeted with a mini delicious Carrot Cake in the room all dazzled up on our 2nd day. I recommend this hotel for it's service, cleanliness, location and warm staff! .....Only con is our room had no luggage rack.

Yelp
I really wish my husband booked this hotel again. It was previously called Intercontinental and they kept most of the previous hotel amenities from the previous ownership. This hotel continues to amaze me. While San Juan was going through a power struggle in August, this hotel was strong and kept it's name and genuine integrity. No wonder, we paid many visits here in between our hotel. If you want the best hotel in San Juan with reasonable rate look no further than Royal Sonesta. Everything about this hotel stood out to us as a great place to stay from the customer service to the general hotel warming atmosphere.

Yelp
!!! From the moment we walked in the hotel, Nestor was what you look for in a Concierge as he was attentive and also personable. Silvia was a wonderful server along with the bar staff. We had a resort day pass and it was worth it! Definitely will tell everyone I know to do this bc if you can't afford the room, this is a wonderful alternative. Thank you for everything!

Yelp
Love love love love this place! We were recently here to celebrate our friend's 10 year anniversary. We stayed here 10 years ago as well. But for some reason, THIS trip really made us love it. The hotel is beautiful! The pool was the perfect temperature and a great size. Easy access to a clean beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The lobby bar had amazing service each day/night. And the breakfast buffet was amazing. We had a Club Suite room and loved all of the extra perks it came with. The room was the perfect size for myself, my husband, and our toddler. It's already on our agenda to return next Summer in the same room.

Yelp
Super happy about our stay here! The lobby is clean and hosts/doormen are friendly. The rooms are spacious and we had a lovely view of the pool area, beach, and ocean. Pool area with swim up bar/restaurant are nice. Hotel restaurants and cafe are prucey. Our room attendant, Hilton, was the best and always friendly in the hallways and kept our room clean. He left us a swan and hanging monkey made of towels!

Yelp
Upon entering the building the guys working the door are extremely nice and helpful. The place is very pretty and clean. The service desk during check in was quick and easy. The room is nice, we had a room with 2 queen beds you only get one pillow each and they go flat quickly we asked for more and they brought them right away. The pool is great and the hotel is right on the beach. It's a public beach so you have to wear wristbands- not fond of that. I went to the gym in the morning it has a lot of equipment but you can't move - the room is really tight especially if there is a couple of people trying to lift. The worst part was the bar I waited 5 minutes and never got service (you can see from my picture 3 bartenders-not busy) I went back to our table sent our daughter up and the female bartender told her to walk to the other side of the bar... we sent my husband up he got a drink! We didn't get anymore because the Jim Beam and coke was $33 wow!

Yelp
I stayed in the Club Rooms. Very nice but sporadic maid service coverage although the maids were very nice. Other rooms had bathrobes, and some other amenities( lotion, etc.) but for some reason we did not and was never replaced in our rooms. We didn't know about the extras until the last day. Otherwise the rooms were very nice and with a beautiful view of the pool. The gym was top notch and 24 hours. Pool and beach area were breathtaking. Pool has a very large under 4 feet area with a swim up bar. Reminds me of The Embassy Suites with breakfast and a happy hour with apps everyday(totally worth the extra cost). Good enough breakfast consist of way over cooked scrambled eggs(possible powdered), bacon or sausage, hash browns, Borinquen Oatmeal( sweetened with cinnamon and vanilla stick and cooked in cream), assorted cold cuts and chesses, fruit bowl, white & wheat bread, apple, cranberry, & orange juice, soda, beer, alcohol including champagne, an assortment of coffees from the coffee maker ( Latte, Cappucino, etc.). Evening repast usually consist of 2 hot apps, with an antipasto salad, fruit salad, apple, cranberry, & orange juice, soda, beer, alcohol, red & white wine. Again, totally worth it.

Yelp
Staying at the Royal Sonesta is not a bad stay. The service is outstanding and there's a Ruth's Chris attached to the hotel. It's an older refurbished building where you can see/smell the age. The rooms have been updated but the public areas have not. Again it's not a bad stay, a 5 min ride from the airport, and some tasty local restaurants. #GiveItATry #HappyTraveling

Yelp
Wonderful to have the pool and beach right there. The beds were super comfortable. We stayed during the island-wide New Year blackout and the staff worked tirelessly to keep things going. William and Brenda at Aleli Restaurant were especially lovely and friendly to us. Oh, and great coffee at this restaurant, hot and delicious.

Yelp
We had a great week stay there with one huge exception...bed bugs!! Do a thorough room check before unpacking. We learned this the hard way.

Yelp
Been to Royal sonesta quite a few times The place where the property is located is amazing! Right there on the beach in the heart of Islã Verde. The hotel staff is mostly great, friendly staff and helpful. My issue is with the rooms, they're not very clean, it always smells very sour and mold-ish It's very dust-y as well and it's just not a good thing. Last time I was in room 1029 and there was a fridge by the closet area that was absolutely disgusting!!! I opened it and it smelled like there was a dead possum in there. I nearly puked I'm hoping that whosever manages the property will take some steps to fix the issues with the hotel, cuz it's in a really beautiful area. Besides the room.the hotel is very nice, the pool area and you're steps away from the beach.

Yelp
This hotel is right on the beach which is nice but the food and drinks are WAY over priced and the service is not so great! Most of the staff just seems bothered to wait on anyone. Also, I came up with mysterious bug bites in the morning. I would prefer to not stay here again.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful hotel and staff! Our room was a beautiful ocean view room on the 16th floor. Extremely clean and pleasant. The breakfast had multiple options and was delicious. I can't wait to return.

Yelp
Nice property that backs up to a beautiful beach. Very nice service, the crew very warm and friendly! Great pool area with a beach cafe and bar open for those fun snacks and cocktails by the pool! The rooms are spacious and clean. If your not wanting to spend too much but stay somewhere nice -check it out! Check out the beach video below! Have Fun!

Yelp
By far and wide one of my favorite hotels to ever stay at. Everyone is so pleasant and happy to assist, the dining options are plentiful and the location is perfect. The music, the smell of tropical flowers everywhere, and the views are amazing.

Yelp
We stayed from here for 3 nights. The location is very convenien. It's literally next to Ruth's Chris. The food at the hotel is good and the prices are affordabl. I like that you have the beach right behind the hote. The rooms need updating! They smell a little old and so does the hallway. We had the city view & it was not good. On my last day I notice so many bites on my legs & arms. Definitely bed bugs so please inspect. I thought i did i wiped down & lysol everywhere but i guess I missed them!

Yelp
The Royal Sonesta is a conveniently located resort with a beach, swim up bar, spa, and breathtaking views. The hotel check in/check out was quick and easy and services were completed right away. The pool was the perfect temperature and there was someone drilling umbrellas on the beach on standby. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is their breakfast buffet. Food was very mediocre for $32 per person. I would definitely stay here again

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Avoid!! Management is ineffective and confuded. Manager Eimy said she would help, and proceeded to

Yelp
The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are dated. We have stayed here over 25 times in 15 years, but the reason why we're not going back is the resort fee of 22% it's completely ridiculous. The worst part is we rented a cabana every day and still got stuck paying the resort fee.

Yelp
Beautiful resort, very friendly staff, and good vibes. The 200 rooms over look the pool and are awesome!!! This is a family friendly resort. Access to great pools and the beach. Spa and gym on property. Multiple bars and lounge areas.

Yelp
This is overall a nice property . Reviews about you unloading your own luggage are true. I arrived with my family (4 of us - 2 adults 2 kids) we had multiple bags plus stroller no one bother to help us , we need to take it by ourselves to the room. I don't have a big issue with that but during check in i was informed that in addition to room charges and taxes that i paid making reservation i owe 22% resort fee for 7 days that is over $450. That's really big resort fee , and they are not helping with luggage for that... Food in the pool / beach area is average. You can get better quality for less money outside hotel.

Yelp
I've enjoyed my stay here before, and definitely again now. The host Ernesto helped me check in and was super helpful with all our needs. I got the ocean view which is gorgeous. Hotel staff and cleaning crew were welcoming with warm smiles and always complimented my outfits as I walked around. The pool is very clean and well managed. Food at the bar outside does take a while to receive, but understandable with the amount of people who come around. I attended the Zen spa and had Damian. I'm a younger female and felt super comfortable in his presence. He was respectful, wasn't too harsh with the massage and made sure to check in to see if I was okay throughout the experience.

Yelp
The hotel is really really nice. Inside and outside. And everyone is very nice. Our room smelled a little musty when we got in there. Couldn't really pinpoint it. But it continued throughout our stay. Day1. The ac is horrible. I sweated all night and when I called in the am the lady acknowledge me there is a problem and said they are working on it. We'll see tonight The pool bar: meh. Decent drinks and food DO NOT GET A FROZEN MOJITO. You'll be picking mint out of your teeth and mouth for the remainder of your visit. Worst drink ever! Margarita pizza is bomb. Add chicken for a protein punch Chicken wings are deep fried and filled with fat. Pass

Yelp
We checked in on Friday 12/1/23 for a long weekend stay. This was our 4th and last stay at this hotel. Our room on the 16th floor with and ocean view was less than clean. Among other issues The carpet had not been vacuumed. Housekeeping was alerted and they did send someone to vacuum. The next day upon further inspection of this room it was found unacceptable. Probably could have dealt with the hair in the bathroom on the floor and stuck to the shower walls, the what looked like body fluids on the shower walls and door, the tiny droplets of blood on the sheets but the dead big black bug between the bed and the side table was the last straw. The front desk manager was very apologetic, as I shared pictures of all of these issues, and offered a new room that would be inspected by the head of housekeeping prior to moving us. The manager also comped our breakfast that we had while waiting for the room change. The new room was even less clean than the first. If it was inspected prior to moving us then they did a really bad job. Again, long hair on the bathroom floor and the shower, bathroom door had green mold growing on it, carpet was worn in a spot that I seemed to step on every time. There were several stains on the carpet that we couldn't tell if it was blood, poop or rust. Back to the front desk I went. Again we were offered another room that we could inspect prior to moving but were checking out in the morning and we didn't want to pack up again so we declined. Upon check out we were given another apology and the resort fee for 2 of the 4 days we were there was refunded. We really loved this resort but we won't be back.

Yelp
I can not say enough about this place. I love it here. This is the 3rd time I've been here since January 2023. The vibe you get here is like staying with family( the perfect family). I feel at home. From the check in, to wait staff, pool side and restaurants and everything else in between. They are amazing and over courteous. So very eager to accommodate you with anything. I can't wait to come back in June for my daughters wedding. The invited guest are all staying here and I can't wait till they see how amazing everyone is. They are gonna fall in love with Puerto-Rico but more importantly The Royal Sonesta. I love it here !!! Can't say enough about it!!! I feel like all my favorite uncles, aunts and cousins are running the place. Love you all!!!

Yelp
One of my favorite hotels! I enjoyed my stay so much here! The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. The room was stocked and ready (and with an espresso, which we all need in the morning). Walk outside the lower lobby doors and it opens to an amazing pool with restaurants and through it is the beach, set with lounge chairs ready for you to relax! If you forgot anything (sunscreen, swimwear, flip flops, hat) no worries, there's a store in the lower lobby that has everything you need! Enjoy your stay!

Yelp
Great service. Great grounds and great access to shops and restaurants. If you visit, try La Canaria for breakfast. Also, breakfast in the beach by the pool at the hotel is a plus too. Wasn't too crowded even on the weekend. Definitely a place to consider. We even had a problem with our reservation and had to book a new room, which they had. We wound up booking a room for same day because we couldn't use the reservation we made (issue unrelated to hotel but hotel couldn't step in). It ended up being a blessing because the new room it was cheaper than what we reserved and on a higher floor. Great stay! Ask Javier at the front door about places to eat!

Yelp
Room amenities terrible, never filled body wash and we were here a week. The pool is sooooo dirty, got an eye infection on first day and only went under once. Many kids with diapers in the pool. Found hair in both our appetizers at the beach restaurant. The lobby bar is as absolutely awful. The location is the Only thing good about this hotel. The other guests were gross- do NOT bring children here! This is not a cheap hotel yet it felt like a super 8 motel. So disappointed in this place. Get an air b&b, you will be happy you did.

Yelp
If you book a room using any of their promotions please...please screenshot your reservation screen before you pay/book for proof of the promotion. My daughter and I stayed at this location and booked the spa for 2 promo. First of all the reservation email confirmation didn't list the promo so I had ti call the hotel to confirm. After being placed on hold for 5 mins, the front desk was able to confirm the promotion on my room reservation and advised that I must schedule the services before arrival (which I did). I contacted the Spa and spoke with a lady (I think her name was Rita) explained that I am booking on a promotional offer which includes two services. She put me on hold to confirm with the front desk and scheduled the services for Thursday. We chose the body scrub and deep tissue massage. Things didn't got according to plan so I had to the reservation to Friday. I was advised that she don't have anyone to complete the body scrub so I said that's fine and booked the massage. When we arrived at the spa it wasn't what we expected, the place smelled moldy and we were advised that they had a call out so would we be okay with one male masseuse. We agreed. Upon check out, we were presented with a bill and I explained to the front desk clerk that they services were included in the promotion. She said "oh, I will have my supervisor make the correction". We checked out of the hotel and returned home that same day. All was well until I checked my credit card statement and noticed a charge for the hotel spa. I have been I. Communication with the accounting department and explained the whole interaction only to be told if I can't prove that the promotion was on the reservation at the time of booking I am liable for the charges. I explained to them that their email confirmation doesn't reflect promotional codes used from the links on their website. (Just for good measure I accessed their website last night and created a booking using one of the promotional codes advertised on their actual website and when I received the email confirmation that was no proof of the promotion on my email.) I feel that it is interesting that a major hotel is requiring me to show proof where there is no way for me to prove it the promotion was on the reservation due to they way "THEY" have designed booking system and email confirmations. This is wild. No one thinks when booking a hotel for a vacation "hey, let me take screenshot of the promotion and booking input for proof". I am hoping that my bank can assist me with this issue. I have been singing the Royal Sonesta's San Juan Hotel (not the Spa) praises since I returned home but I think it may have been premature. This is a nightmare and the spa was below mediocre and not really clean.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience. I cannot say enough about the wonderful, kind, and helpful employees. No matter the site- breakfast buffet, ocean breeze, kayara, house keeping, front door, concierge, front desk, and even pool side the employees are always friendly and willing to go above and beyond. We loved being able to stay in the members areas of the hotel- being able to have a separate part of the hotel along with free espresso and vouchers for breakfast/ dinner were a great add on! The cleanliness of this hotel was 10/10 as well! Overall this stay was budget friendly for an overall package! The food and drinks were reasonably priced. The rooms were close to the pool but also have us enough privacy. Only thing I would like to see differently is the breakfast- buffet style is great! But some of the food is very dried out (croquets, huevos rancheros, etc.) it had great flavor though.
