On the Grid : Royale Eatery

"According to their website, this eatery serves “Burgers that make your soul tingle and your dreams come true.” Royale takes pride in the scrumptious dishes they serve to their customers - tuck into anything from an El burro burger topped with chorizo and chipotle sauce or a Miss Piggy with a dollop of guacamole and bacon. Quirky décor and menus that resemble Beatrix Potter books make this restaurant a must on any Cape Town foodie bucket list. They’re situated right at the top of Long Street so you can’t miss them." - Yellow Door Collective

Google
Oh my word, what an amazing restaurant. The Royale's aesthetic is great, the staff are attentive and nice, and the food and drinks are superb. I just happened on this restaurant while checking out places for brunch. This one stuck out to me in the area and I have no regrets. Well.. maybe that I don't live closer to Pleasant Hill. We ordered a couple of the signature lattes which were cute and delicious. We also ordered the classic American, Tom Yum Paella, Salmon Benedict, and the Chicken Waffle. All of the food was tremendous and I appreciate the Thai fusion which elevated each dish. Go check this place out now! Be warned, The Royale gets very busy, but their service is so quick, you likely won't be waiting too long.

Date with my self and a week later came with some friends. The food and service is 🔥🔥🔥 now the atmosphere is top-tier. The fried chicken Benedict whatever it’s called super good, and the crab scramble whatever it’s called amazing! The bacon was really delicious. It’s more like candy so just keep that in mind.

Google
Had to check out The Royale in Pleasant Hill. The vibe was elegant and relaxed, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food had a unique fusion of flavors from different cuisines, was fresh, tasty, and well-done. The cocktail was excellent with a great presentation. Overall, the service and food were good, but it was a bit on the pricier side, a place worth visiting.

Google
We enjoyed everything we ordered: Kare raisu, crab omelette and a side of special bacon. They had a lot of coffee/tea options which sounded amazing but we didn't get any that day. We look forward to trying it next time, and we will definitely come back again because we want to try all the other dishes!!

Google
Amazing atmosphere, very chic and clean, I LOVED the food and cappuccino ( of course I tried the food of my husband as well and it was greeeat too!), amazing choice of dishes as well as drinks, beautiful interior! I liked the idea of the see through glass kitchen which is very light and super clean. Nice Parisian like veranda outside, this place deserves my 10 out of 10 score ❤️🔥

Google
Amazing!! Came for the tom yum paella (so flavorful and the seafood was cooked perfectly), was surprised to be blown away by the lobster mentaiko pasta!! Beautiful ambiance and really friendly and attentive service. Best dining experience in ages! Well worth the trip from San Francisco.

Google
I visited this restaurant for brunch on a weekday. The place wasn’t too crowded, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was equally impressive. I highly recommend the tom yum paella and the croffle for dessert. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the chairs were simply amazing—the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in at a restaurant. I recommend this place 10/10

Google
What a gem! Everything about this place is so thoughtful and done with such care. The staff are lovely and the cuisine is varied and delicious. The environment is calm and welcoming; a touch of elegance without being snobby or pretentious. Absolutely reasonable prices and much higher quality than any chain.

Yelp
THE CHICKEN WAFFLE. IS. TO DIE FOR. I've ordered it time and time again-- what a treat for the weekend :-) My partner and I are frequent flyers here... I'm a huge fan of Asian fusion brunch spots-- and The Royale has dishes that look as good as they taste. So much love and care put into each dish...! Absolutely worth the weekend wait. ICED UBE LATTE: You can add a shot of espresso and make it a dirty ube :3 This is usually my go-to on the weekend. Super creamy, rich ube flavor, with ample caffeine to fuel you for the day... CHICKEN WAFFLE: I've tried other items on their menu but have come back to the Chicken Waffle. Every. Time. Tender, savory, juicy chicken thigh with a touch of breading-- atop waffles so light and fluffy, just the right amount of sweet. Portions are huge enough to leave 2/3 for leftovers... A plus in my book The staff have always been so welcoming and attentive. Top-notch hospitality. Highly recommend coming here!

Yelp
Ok so this place is rated higher than it should be because it has very fun food options and bottomless mimosas. Here's the thing, the hostess/mgr was a hot mess. So she's definitely older so I'm gonna make an allowance for her getting confused but she literally called two or three people my name and got our reservation all messed up. Also, our server was a total dick. He didn't check on us. My food was given to the wrong person, but the only way I knew that was because another waiter brought it over to me. We had no idea they closed at three and so he came over to us at 2 o'clock and said it was last call for bottomless mimosas when we got there at one. It's supposed to be 90 minutes for bottomless mimosas and he was just rude and every interaction I normally never tip below 20% but yeah I did this time Honestly, the food was good, but I'd never go back There are too many places in Lafayette, Walnut Creek that are better than this There

Yelp
We visited Royale this morning right at 9 AM and were the first ones in the restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted, seated, and served with such warmth. Our waitress, Chris, I believe was her name... was absolutely sweet and attentive. In fact all the servers checked in on us and were all attentive! I ordered a hot mocha and noticed their adorable ice teddy bears they usually put in iced drinks. I asked if I could have one anyway, and she happily added it to my mocha, which made my morning! My husband ordered tea, and it was served so aesthetically with the cutest little honey dish. For breakfast, I had the omelette, and it was definitely not your average omelette--in the best way. It was flavorful, different, and delicious. I got the melted cheese on the side but the aioli and smashed avocado were perfect together. Their special butter for the toast was also amazing. My husband had the chicken and waffles, and let's just say he didn't talk much once the food arrived... his plate was spotless by the time he finished! The restaurant itself has the cutest vibe...every corner is thoughtfully designed. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back, especially to try their cocktail hour or dinner menu!

Yelp
The food is beautifully plated and delicious. The ambiance is upscale brunch. The price matches the ambiance but it makes up for it in taste and portion. Second time coming here and service was great. My only complaint is the upcharge for modifications. Nevertheless I thought only enjoyed my drinks and meal.

Yelp
Very beautiful restaurant, but small, for the crowd they attract. The food is good, I was told the omelette was very bland, but everything else was not bad. Drinks very strong, which isn't a bad thing I guess, I could not finish mine. Lol The staff was very busy due to the crowd, we had friendly wait staff. But the greeter or manager was not very welcoming at all, he constantly told our table we only have 90minutes to eat. Which isn't a problem, but the manner in which he did it was condescending. We had a party of 8 which had a reservation for 12:30 and everyone was on time. It took a while for us to be seated (which is understandable given the crowd) but once we were seated the guy who was working the front desk/greeter/ or manager, came and questioned us on our party size, and said "I thought you all had more people" in a way that was like we were being reprimanded for having two empty seats at the table THEY SAT US AT. I would have given a higher rating but that was really off putting to me. The food was okay, the restaurant was beautiful, but I don't see myself going back due to how the greeter spoke to us. It was unnecessary and rude.

Yelp
Food: 5 out of 5 Spectacular food! Everything I had was so tasty. Service: 5 out of 5 Once we were seated we had prompt & friendly service Environment: 5 out of 5 Vibe Overall: 5 out of 5 A feast for the eyes. Fantastic flavors and execution of dishes. Come with a group so you can try a lot of different dishes; portion sizes are large. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
We went to this place for brunch on a weekends and it was packed. The wait time was about 30 mins for 2 people. We ended up sitting on high chairs, not even a regular table. We ordered the famous chicken waffle and wagyu burger. They were very good! They also serve many drinks and they came out cute!
google avatar

Yelp
Came for brunch with a decent size group of friends. We had reservations and came pretty early. They have so many things to choose from. For my cocktail, I ordered the Garden of Versailles. It was soo good, i ended up ordering two. Really wanted to try another cocktail, but since this was so good, i just ordered another. I'm a tequila drinker and this was not watered down, mixed really well with the juices inside and egg white. Highly recommend. For my entree, I ended up choosing the paella. Was torn between a few things, but I'm so glad I picked this. Lots of flavor. Came with a ton of different seafood. Big serving so I was able to share with some people that wanted to try. The sauce that came with it was delicious so I asked for extra with my take home leftovers. Location was great. Easy to find parking as it's inside of a lot. Restaurant has the perfect aesthetic for pictures and the servers were super nice and attentive. The place gets packed so it was nice that we came early. Will definitely be coming back to try other things.

Yelp
Really cute spot with major aesthetic vibes. We went on a Saturday and there was a bit of a wait, but not too bad. The decor is super charming and definitely made for Instagram. The food was good, everything we ordered was tasty and nicely presented. The drinks were super cute too. My latte came with a little frozen bear in it, which was such a fun touch. Service was really friendly and welcoming. One thing to note: they have a big parking lot, but it filled up pretty fast since it's shared with a hotel and a few other stores. Just something to keep in mind if you're going during peak hours. Overall, a great place to hang out, catch up with friends, and enjoy the aesthetic.

Yelp
I made it back to try brunch. It was busy around 1:30 pm on a Sunday afternoon. A few people waiting outside and we put our name in and waited about 10 mins once a table left and it was cleared. I tried the chicken and waffles with fruit. I liked the fruit on the side and was impressed with the homemade syrup. The waffle was slightly crunchy. I did not try the chicken Benedict nor etouffee.

Yelp
S Tier Brunch Spot. Ambiance itself is super clean and they have festive decor to match the season. Chic aesthetic. Food itself is both a feast for the eyes and mouth. Sometimes brunch spots have really cool looking dishes but lack flavor. The food here is actually really tasty and you'll likely finish ur food if you're that hungry! Ube Latte here is the best I've had. Most places is just super milky but this one has a tone of Ube flavor!
google avatar

Aljone T.

Yelp
I Recently wanted to check this place out and honestly, I wish I came here sooner. They have so many options that it was hard to choose just one thing. For drinks we ended up getting an iced ube latte and an iced Thai tea which both were really good. The Thai tea wasn't anything mind-blowing, but it was still flavorful and refreshing. The ube latte, was definitely better than most ube drinks I've had elsewhere. Just make sure to give it a good stir before sipping. For food, we ordered the Chili Bomb Omurice, Buttermilk Pancakes with the ube option, and the Ultimate Smash Burger. The omurice had a nice kick. We asked for the sauce on the side just in case, and I'm glad we did. It was very flavorful, not too spicy, and complemented the dish perfectly. The steak was cooked a bit more than I prefer but still tasty and tender. The seasoned rice was definitely the highlight for me. Kind of reminded me of Filipino adobo rice. The pancakes were amazing , fluffy, perfectly sweet, and surprisingly not overpowering. I kept wanting just one more bite. The smash burger was juicy, flavorful, and the melted cheese really tied everything together. Overall, I'd come back. The service was friendly and attentive, the place was clean and aesthetic, and the food hit all the right notes. Definitely a Pleasant Hill gem worth revisiting.

Yelp
This place has definitely got the aesthetics from the moment you approach the business to when you first step inside the restaurant. I love the designing process, however their floors felt a bit shaky? My friend and I felt a bit off by that. We were seated instantly. I got the iced Thai tea and my friend got an iced Ube Latte. I added the matcha bear on top of my Thai tea for an extra $3. Both drinks were really good! For the food, I got the veggie burger with the impossible meat. While I didn't exactly love my food, my friend got the chicken burger and absolutely loved it. Fries were amazing though. Would visit again and try something different, but excited to see how this place runs in the area!

Yelp
The Royale is the newest brunch spot to hit Pleasant Hill, bringing a creative Asian twist to classic brunch favorites. The menu has plenty to choose from, so we went family style to try a little bit of everything. But first--cocktails. The pistachio caramel Irish coffee caught my eye, and let me tell you, it was strong but so satisfying. We kicked things off with the crab omelette, buttermilk pancakes topped with a strawberry matcha sauce, chicken and waffles, and the burrata salad. Each dish impressed us. The crab omelette was flavorful yet light, the pancakes had just the right balance--not overly sweet but irresistible, the fried chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the burrata salad was refreshing and bright. Overall, The Royale definitely lives up to the hype and is well worth a visit.

Yelp
The food was great! We came for both brunch and dinner and it was yummy! The service is great too. The staff is welcoming and attentive. I love the vibe and style of the place. The decor and furniture is upscale. Chairs are so comfy!

Yelp
Food was delicious and beautifully presented, service was friendly and attentive. Came in for Sunday brunch with a party of 7 and luckily we got there right before the rush picked up. At 1130 AM, the wait was less than 15 minutes. We ordered a few of their signature dishes - the majestic, tom yum paella, holy chili bomb omurice w/ sirloin steak. For some supplementals, we went with the california omlette, the ultimate smash burger, and the strawberry matcha pancakes. The food was both pleasing to the eyes and the mouth. I have no negative things to say about my experience. With so many trendy brunch spots in the area, The Royale has easily made it to the top of my list.

Yelp
I had lunch with my husband. The service was excellent. Our server was very attentive. Today, I decided to splurge on the Super Tom Yum Mary for $18. It came with fried chicken, shrimp, pickles and celery. It was very good. However, my chicken was very cold. It was not hot or warm. I flagged the owner/manager. He was accommodating and pleasant. He said the drink is cold so the chicken is also cold for being on the ice. BUT, both pieces were cold. He offered to replace them and I was happy. Great customer service. During this visit, we shared the Majestic entree with short ribs. My husband said it was better than Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen. We also enjoyed their side of french fries. YUM, crispy and soft inside. I am glad to have this restaurant in Pleasant Hill, not Walnut Creek. There is plenty of FREE parking. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Yelp
If you're looking for a new brunch place, this is it! Pretty and amazing food!! We saw this place on instagram and had to make sure to get it! We got there around 12 and added ourselves to the paper wait list and it only took about 15 minutes to get seated! We got the chicken and waffles along with the omurice! Both were amazing but the chicken and waffles were definitely the stand out! They also have a bunch of drink options! We got the unlimited mimosa (peach flavor is great!) along with the ube iced latte with espresso added in! Super yummy! Service was really nice up until the end. They were doing a 90 minute time limit so we definitely felt rushed at the end with the server coming to remind us twice within 5 minutes that it was time for us to leave Great place to eat for brunch but if you're looking for somewhere you can sit for a little while and catch up, this might not be it
google avatar

Katherine F.

Yelp
A really good brunch place, really clean, with an outdoor seating. multiple restrooms, full bar and great coffee. My favorite was the Ube latte. And the French toast so amazing and fresh. Service was great, really nice. Truly enjoyed it, and staff super friendly. Food didn't take long at all. I would recommend it and come back to try more items.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
Long wait but well worth it Service on point, sat by the window and they opened up the curtains to block out the sun. All 3 drinks were really tasty, Ube latte was the best one. The royal bacon was not that crispy but had a kick. I believe it was Gochujang. The chicken and waffles was good. The chicken was so crispy and the waffle was basic. The sauce was sweet. Inside is really fancy. Like a place you would have afternoon tea. I'll be back.
google avatar

Lai L.

Yelp
I came across this place via the old trusty Yelp. The aesthetics were just hitting all the marks and pretty much Instagram-worthy, which is probably why so many people come. We got there a little after 11, and there was a line. We wrote our name on the wait list and stood a bit far from the door and didn't know our table was ready. We checked back in about 15 minutes later and our table was ready. It was a large table and we ended up sharing it with two other people, which was fine because the table was large. We started off with mimosas and I appreciated that they offered such unique flavors. Strawberry rose was good, but a bit too sweet for me. Peach was my favorite, next to grapefruit. For food, I decided to order the etouffee for my main entree, and it was just OK. I liked it, but it wasn't the best I've had. I give it a 3/5. All the other food my friends ordered were good. Other items I tried: Chicken and waffles were 4/5 Holy Chili Bomb Omurice with sirloin steak 4/5 The majestic 5/5 surprisingly delicious Fries 5/5 reminded me of McDonald's (in a good way) I didn't try the lattes, but my friends said their were a bit on the sweet side. Overall, service was pretty top notch, and the place is beautifully decorated. I would definitely come back for another brunch event.

Yelp
Another tiktok suggestion and I'm glad we took notice of it. The photos of the food looked different from all of the other brunch photos that we always see. YK the usual, pretty plates with flowers, etc. Something stood out, I cannot put my eye on it, but it was enough to sway me to come. I felt like I can really see the love cooked into the food being portrayed in the photo. I can't explain it. I was right :) Pulling up, there is a parking lot shared by other businesses as well. Lots of spaces to park. I can already see there is a small group of people waiting to be seated. I put our name on the list, only about a handful of people ahead of us. It is a small/medium sized restaurant & bar with floor to ceiling windows (natural light flowing in), small wait area near the entrance. I love how the bathrooms are individual & private. Outside are the sinks and mirrors. I didn't see a wait list to join on yelp, but added ourselves to the wait list at the podium when we arrived. I think we waited about 30 minutes before we were seated (2). I love that the two menus they have (regular menu/drink menu) are on just on the front and back. Perfect amount of options as big menus can be overwhelming. Their drink menu looks interesting, maybe next time, we'll try. Great customer service, I can feel the kindness in their hearts as they served us. Thank you for this amazing experience. We relished and savored each bite. It is truly one of the best brunches I've had in a while. That french toast and the sirloin with the french omelette is out of this world fantastic!!!!!!! I didn't get to try the waffle and chicken which seems to be a favorite at that restaurant. I was too full lol
google avatar

Carla G.

Yelp
another brunch spot in the area and i love the concept of this place! it has lots of fusion dishes and let me tell you i was so overwhelmed with the options I had. iced matcha latte was solid, but could be better. also, i'm not understanding the concept of an iced ube latte not coming with an espresso. so if you do decide to order that, you'll have to add that in. i felt like the espresso was overpowering and i didn't really taste the ube flavor. Now to the food, i thoroughly enjoyed everything. The type of potatoes they used mixed with the aioli is excellent. i can eat those everyday. the candied bacon? oh my. i love how they have two diff options. i thought both of them were delicious but the spicy one was great. The flavor from the steak and sauce was immaculate on top of the rice and egg it comes in? i have no notes. 10/10 The service was great and the space is spacious. Would love to come back during happy hour and dinner service!

Yelp
Thai brunch- delicious. Crack sauce. Innovative cheesy burger. MUST ORDER OLIVE OIL ICE CREAM WAFFLES. Modern feel brunch, good enough for a fancy birthday! And service was top notch!
google avatar

Gaby M.

Yelp
Recently came here and I have to say the food is so delicious! We got several plates and I wouldn't know which to say was my favorite. The best part is the service, we were greeted and treated so kindly. Even the management walks around and checks in on everyone. You can tell they take care of their restaurant well. I loved the Halloween decor that added to their already beautiful space.

Laura J.

Yelp
The 4 of us came for dinner on a Friday around 6:45pm. We called for reservations, but we didn't seem to need them. Super charming spot! The service was friendly and honest with their recommendations. Prices are kinda high, but we had plenty of food and flavor. We got the Majestic Braised Short Rib, Cajun Lobster Pasta, Kare Raisu, and Etouffee. Everything tasted great, but the favorite was the braised short rib. 2nd would probably be the Kare Raisu. It had a strong Japanese curry flavor, which we really enjoyed! Overall, we will definitely be back! Seems like they're known for their brunch, so we'll definitely have to give it a try!
google avatar

Charles H.

Yelp
Had a fabulous dinner with very tasty craft cocktails. Wasn't expecting something of the caliber here in suburban Pleasant Hill but the folks at The Royale have created something pretty special.
google avatar

Leslie L.

Yelp
A+ on the ambiance, decor, and theme. Thr service is friendly and fast. Their foods and drinks are also nicely decorated. Went here twice and I'm hooked. If you're curious about this place, definitely give it a try.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
While looking for a breakfast spot, Yelp offered this place as an option. After a review of the menu, and I was hooked and took the drive there. I got the Kare Raisu with the hamburger patty. The Japanese curry was so incredibly flavorful; the entire dish was spectacular! Service was friendly, the decor cute and fun. This place is pretty perfect, so bring your appetite and enjoy!

Yelp
Im amazed at all the asian fusion spots in the Concord/Pleasant Hill area. Case in point, the reviews on The Royals were super good. Survey Says: Winner!!!! The food in this place rocks. I have to say that in general, each dish was executed nicely. One of the best things was the amount of fresh and delicious fruit they used to garnish on a number of their dishes. I sampled all of the dishes at the table and each was very craveable. The chicken used in the Benedict and the Waffle dish was so good. Crispy, moist and the breading was yum (cornflakes?). The waffle was crunchy and held the syrup well. The crab used in the omelette was yum. The pancake stack was elevated by the strawbery and matcha. Everything was so dang good! The drinks were fun with a bear theme to them. The double walled bear mugs keep the drinks warm throughout the meal. My fave was the ube drink. It was on the sweeter side but the ube was very noticeable. Just a yum drink. Our waitress Naomi was very gracious and worked really hard. She made sure our table was well attended too. Also the food came out quick and looked amazing. There was little bit of a wait to get in buy they move alot of folks in and out in a timely manner. The restaurant was nicely decorated. The neutral grey tones with white and black accents gave the restaurant an upscale vibe. Very modern but the folks running the place keep it warm and inviting. Parking was okay. Royale is sandwiched between the CVS and Marriot. I can't wait to go back and sample goods!
google avatar

Ara M.

Yelp
I very much enjoyed brunch at The Royale! We ordered French Toast and fried Chicken Benedict along with ube latte and an iced caramel macchiato. Everything tasted so divine!! The staff were so friendly, checked in on us the perfect amount of times, and the service was quick! The place itself was super cute with modern decor and overall loved my experience here.
google avatar

Dan B.

Yelp
A game-time dinner decision to head to Royale before movies last night. Pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. I'm a big fan of fusion cuisines and they've done a brilliant job on the dishes we tried (descriptions in photo captions). French, Korean and Japanese fusions were highlighted in these few dishes. Our server Tonya was great and gave good feedback and recommendations. Excited to try the Tom Yum Paella and the Breakfast options next time.

Yelp
This was was sooo good. Service was superb and the ambiance overall was exactly what we were looking for. The place is chic and just makes you feel like you're sitting in pottery barn kitchen. I had the crab omelette and is was SO good, I could have eaten the plate too. I can't believe I forgot to take a picture of my own dish! Can't wait to go back and enjoy everything in their menu.

Cienna S.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for girls night and we enjoyed everything we ordered. We were sat right away and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We didn't like our table because it was a little small and they cleaned off one and let us sit there. The inside had great ambiance and lighting. I ordered a royale 75 as my drink and my friend got the garden of Versailles. We both enjoyed our drinks a lot. We split a crab cake appetizer and it was soooo good I loved the sauce with it. Personally I did not like the strawberries with it but that's personal preference. My friend ordered the smash burger with the cheese sauce on the side and I ordered the Kare raisu with chicken. They were sooooo delicious and flavorful and the portions were a nice size. I would definitely come back

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing. A classy place that was aesthetically pleasing. Such a nice place to have brunch with your girlfriends or with your significant other, but also saw families with little ones there. Staff were attentive and service was great. Food was wonderful and delicious. Definitely a place for you to try.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious! Flavor was great which is more important than looks. Avocado toast was yummy..potatoes were perfectly done Friend got the crustacean and egg and we both at it all. Ube drink was pretty and the Kandinsky was incredible. I'll be back. Already told parents about it! Cute ambiance and clean and welcoming Staff is super nice! Smiles all around

Yelp
My husband had the chicken sandwich and I had the chicken eggs benedict. Both were delicious, and I think some of the best chicken we've tasted. The service was friendly and attentive. We were able to sit outside with our dog. I hope to be back!

Yelp
Had a lovely experience and great service with amazing food and drinks. The whole building was clean, fresh, and immaculate and I would definitely go back!

Yelp
Excellent. The food was excellent. It's a very nice place to go for breakfast and brunch. I definitely will be going back there. Service was good too. Great atmosphere. I wasn't able to get a picture of the interior, but it was very sophisticated.

Yelp
The Royale is such a beautiful spot -- the decor is modern, inviting, and full of personality. The staff were friendly and quick to take our orders, and they were kind enough to accommodate our large group after work, which we really appreciated. We ordered the Holy Chili Bomb Omurice with Sirloin Steak and Chicken & Waffles, while my coworkers got the Tom Yum Paella and Ultimate Smash Burger. For drinks, I had the Excalibur, which was fun and flavorful. The food came out in good time and the portions were just right. The Chicken & Waffles were delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The Tom Yum Paella was the standout of the night -- full of flavor and a must-try dish. The Omurice with Sirloin Steak had great presentation but could use a little tweaking. The steak was a bit on the salty side, and after a few bites, the saltiness became a little overpowering. I also wish the egg had been slightly softer to get that perfect omurice texture. Overall, though, we really enjoyed our experience. Great atmosphere, attentive service, and creative dishes -- just a few small tweaks away from being a solid five-star spot

Yelp
Came to The Royale for brunch with my girlfriend and this place did not disappoint we ordered the Chicken and waffles and the Royale which is potato purée with a tender short rib, carrots and broccolini both dishes were delicious the waffle was so buttery and sweet and the chicken was nice and crispy. The short rib on the Royale was amazing and definitely my favorite it was such a comforting meal, please try it. The drinks were good but I did not enjoy the wildflower bitters in the "dear Diana" my friend ordered the purple drink it was a little tangy nothing exciting. Might try a bourbon drink next time. This place is definitely worth a try!

Yelp
This is by far the best brunch I've ever had. The food not only looked pretty, but tasted amazing. So flavorful! Staff was super friendly. Every plate I saw coming out of their kitchen looked delicious. It was a bit pricey, but so worth it. I definitely can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Food is fresh, delicious with a wonderful blend of Asian flavors. The Ahi Tuna Salad is a standout. The beef short ribs was fall off the bone tender braised in a red wine sauce. The ube and matcha lattes are great. The service is excellent and the ambiance is fancy with a warm, familial feel!

Yelp
My daughter and I enjoyed an impromptu breakfast/brunch and finally tried The Royale. Very cute clean place. She tried the cold ube latte with the frozen ube bear on top. So cute and yummy. I got the hot warm matcha latte, which was also good. (They initially brought me the cold one and hopefully they didn't charge me for the wrong thing. I didn't check the bill.) I wanted to get the chicken waffles but it's dark meat so not for me. I got the crab omelette, which was pretty good, not amazing. I cheese. The purple potatoes that were smashed and crispy on the outside was a surprise and stole the show. My daughter LOVED her strawberry pistachio croissant - highly recommend it.

Yelp
Had brunch with my daughter yesterday, we have been wanting to try this place out and I'm glad we did! The place is really nice and the restaurant is very cute, clean and well lit and clean. The service was excellent. The presentation of the food was very cute and it was delicious. We had to try a few things on the menu just to try... the chicken and waffle was good chicken was tender the waffle we weren't too happy with because of the texture a little grainy not crispy and fluffy. The syrup was amazing. The eggs and potatoes and bacon was OK.i say that because it was not applewood bacon disappointed... The etouffee wad really good there were not skimpy on the crab in the crawfish delicious! Nothing fancy about that. the drinks were delicious and well decorated. The bathrooms were clean and the sink swas outside of the bathroom well decorated and clean.

Yelp
Fancy Asian fusion breakfast. The decor, furniture, and gold silverware makes this place high end. Pricey items, but presentation is beautiful! Some dishes too pretty to even eat. And the drinks come with an adorable teddy bear ice cube! The staff are prompt and friendly. Kids menu is too fancy for any picky eater. Everything tasted fresh and well cooked. It's definitely on the pricier side, debatable if it's actually worth it. I would come again for the vibe.

Yelp
Super cute spot! The ambiance reminds me of English high tea. Parking is really easy since there is a large lot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The bar area and kitchen are open so you can see them working. Service was very friendly. We ordered the ice ube drink, ube pancakes, and the strawberry matcha pancakes. They also have a lot of cocktails. We didn't order any this time. The menu is Asian fusion. Lots of Japanese twists. The presentation is beautiful just like the decor! The ube drink was very sweet. The pancakes were very filling (three thick stacks). The ube pancakes were more of a sauce added on top. Same for the strawberry matcha. The base pancakes are the same. I see why the server asked if we were sure if we both wanted pancakes. I see why this place is so popular.

Yelp
I heard a friend rave about this place. I hadn't even heard about it, but as I drove around the corner the outdoor umbrellas with the fringe caught my attention. My friend said it was expensive so we were prepared for that, but what we didn't expect was the brilliant way food was presented and the quality of the food they offered. We looked at the menu and thought, so another place offering a myriad of food, can these dishes be made well? My husband decided to try the Chicken Waffle and I tried the Ahi Tuna salad. Chicken Waffle ($27) Let me say, my husband usually leaves half the waffle and a quarter of the chicken on his plate. This time he actually ate ALL the chicken and every bit of his waffle. The warm butter syrup was delicious on top of the crispy waffle. The chicken thigh appears to be made Korean style and was juicy and flavorful. The chef added a single nasturtium flower that was eatable. At the end of his meal, my husband said, "It was the best chicken and waffle I have ever had." This declaration was truly epic because he is very critical of food and this Chicken Waffle topped the list. The waitress said this was the#1 dish ordered in their restaurant. My choice was the Ahi Tuna Salad ($22). This was a tuna steak on a bed of orange shoyu salad ( arugula greens and a wonderful vinaigrette salad dressing ) topped with pomegranate seeds with a single nasturtium flower that was eatable. Every bite was delicious! I would definitely order it again! We ordered a decent latte ($5) which was made with whole milk and could have been made with other milk options. It was served in a round glass cup. Yes, the prices were expense, but to be honest, the food was very good and we will return. The Royale far exceeds most of the restaurants in its category in this area for the quality of food and selection . I am glad The Royale opened up its doors in Pleasant Hill. As a foodie, spending money on food in a restaurant that takes pride in the quality of food they serve is worth supporting!! The Royale has only been opened 4 months. As long as the food remains consistently good, I think The Royale has a long future in Pleasant Hill.

Yelp
My friends and I had brunch at The Royale this morning for the first time. I arrived around 10:30 am and was surprised the restaurant was not crowded. I put our name down and once my friends arrived, we were seated quickly. Though we were a party of 4, we were seated at the large communal table in the middle of the restaurant. It was a bit noisy and we weren't sure why we were seated there when there were open tables for 4 in the back. For our drinks, we had the lavender latte, caramel macchiato, and ube latte. The ube latte and caramel macchiato both came with a bear shaped ice cube. So adorable! I could taste the ube flavor in the latte and it wasn't overly sweet. I subbed almond milk which is $1 extra. Despite the lavender latte having a coffee appearance in pics online, my friend's just looked like milk with a lavender twig. For our entrees, we had the pancakes with ube sauce, huevos rancheros, etoufée, and chicken nuggets (for one of our friend's 9 yo). Loved the ube sauce on the pancakes - again, not overly sweet and the ube flavor was apparent. The pancakes must have been funfetti, as I noticed red and blue sprinkles inside. Portions were generous and one friend took home leftovers. The chicken nuggets had a spicy sauce that my friend's son didn't like so he just ate the fries and my friends had some of the nuggets. Service was friendly, though they brought my friends' items out before mine. They have some unique (alcoholic) drinks and lunch/dinner entrees I'd love to try, especially the Tom yum paella. Given the size of the paella, I'd order it in a group of 3-4 people. Though I no longer live in the area, I'd come back with my friends who do.
