We searched for somewhere to go for a drink, somewhere we had never been before on Dartmoor, and having looked at The Rugglestone Inn thought it looked amazing.
We loved the actual pub! Exactly as billed. Cosy, quaint and absolutely beautiful. We didn’t eat thought as the kitchen was closed at the time but I suspect it would have been fantastic.
The only disappointment was that we really didn’t feel welcome there at all… We are a family of four and both children are well behaved and happy, no mischief etc. perhaps children aren’t welcome?
In other reviews I have read since, tell stories of rudeness - and I can see how it could be construed as that - but, I’d like to think it may have been just a no-nonsense straightforward approach.
Anyway - if you are a couple and want to eat… essential to double check food timings… if you’re a family, hmmm jury’s out… BUT as I said, great pub and still go check it out.
