The Russell

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? The Russell is all about the wow factor. Formerly a 115-year-old church, the hotel retains many of the building's original elements, including a series of jaw-dropping stained glass windows. Bright, restored panes of glass play off modern décor and stylish new architectural elements. What's the backstory? The Russell is owned by local hotel group Mission Hotels, which incorporated elements from the church, including the pews, into the decor in a way that feels respectful and—just as importantly—not cheesy. Management donates a portion of each stay to a homelessness charity, and offers free recording space to local podcasters. Tell us all about the rooms. Any tips on what to book? Each room is a different shape and size—such is the reality of retrofitting an old church into a new hotel. All of them have good light, smartly designed charging stations in the pews-turned-headboards, and beautiful color schemes. Bathrooms have lovely tile and church-like mirrors. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi?Wi-Fi is free and fast. How was the service? There's always someone if you need additional help but the vibe here is laid back, bordering on hands-off. What type of travelers will you find here?Architecture buffs and philanthropists love The Russell. The hotel is swanky and photogenic, so don't be surprised to see other guests snapping pics and uploading them to Instagram. What about the neighborhood? What else is around? You're right in the heart of East Nashville, within walking distance to clubs, bars, and cool boutiques. Yet the street is quiet and residential—you'll be able to get some sleep. Is there anything you'd change? There’s no elevator to the second floor to preserve the original architecture of the space—just a dumbwaiter for luggage. Any other hotel features worth noting? There's a parking lot across the street—helpful in such a residential neighborhood (also, the parking is free).  Bottom line: Worth it?Worth it. The stained glass windows and the community vibe make The Russell feel like someplace you've never been." - Margaret Littman

The Russell was a great little spot to stay over the weekend! Though I was a little wary about staying at a place with no on site concierge, the hotel's team were highly communicative and I was not confused at all about how to check in or out. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was nice and spacious. The little complimentary snacks were great, and it was a cute touch that because we marked that we were coming into town for a concert that some earplugs were set out. The Russell was a great spot to stay at, and if I'm ever back in Nashville for a concert I'll be staying here again.

Beautifully curated boutique hotel, serene Extremely comfortable rooms & bed. Unexpected but appreciated Lovely complimentary in room snacks. Cool items in lobby, the phone, pretty table books. Using the lift for luggage was fun too. The magnificent stained glass !! Felt very peaceful. Will stay there again.

Great little hidden gem. I absolutely love that they use a portion of the proceeds toward helping the homeless. We loved the beautiful architecture of this hotel and the gorgeous stain glass window! Our room was small but very quaint and comfortable. It was walking distance to restaurants. Be prepared if not staying on the first floor for taking stairs, as there is no elevator- but they do have a dumbwaiter for your luggage which is a great help! We stayed in the queen sky light room and enjoyed all of the complimentary goodies left for us! Will definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Russell this weekend. It’s a gorgeous building and we love the mission behind the hotel. Super comfortable bed and clean room. Great location to walk to restaurants. Quiet and peaceful. 10/10! And that’s saying something, we are picky with our hotel stays! The Dyson hairdryer was a huge bonus for me.

This is one of the most unique, amazing places that we have ever stayed! The special details are second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed the gift basket, COZY robes, comfy bed, Dyson hairdryer, pebble ice and carbonated water bar . . . This was just the icing on the cake in a place with incredible design and style. The way that they have combined the vintage old church with clean, modern updates is amazing. This East Nashville community is charming - the hotel is within walking distance to bars and restaurants and a quick Uber ride to local attractions. And then they also give back to the community!!! Please stay here when you visit Nashville - you will not be disappointed.

So glad we decided to stay here! They were so responsive and helpful even after midnight when we finally arrived to our room. Everything was clean and inviting. Although my toddlers loved the tower suite, we would not recommend bringing young children here. The balcony door was not able to be secured safely and the stairs were a concern for the one night we stayed. It was also very hard to keep them quiet enough for the old floors and walls. All of the adults loved the details and thought that have gone into this hotel. Complimentary snacks, water, and eye masks were so appreciated! We plan to stay again if we come back to Nashville and recommend to friends! 💛

On our recent trip from Little Rock, my son and I decided to break up the drive with an overnight stay in Nashville, and we chose The Russell. What really stood out to me was its boutique feel and the fact that they give back to the community – that felt pretty special. Even before we arrived, the hotel was great with communication, reaching out via text and email with parking instructions and the code, which was helpful since they don't have a concierge. Check-in was smooth and easy. I also appreciated the relaxed atmosphere in the lobby with people just hanging out. The decor of the hotel is really unique and vibrant, with pops of color and interesting artwork. My son and I were excited to get settled in and explore. Our room was just right for the two of us, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The complimentary snacks and drinks were a lovely and welcome addition. The hotel had a really calm and quiet atmosphere, and every person we encountered was kind. The little extras, like the photo booth and the complimentary coffee with their branded cups, added to the experience. Overall, our stay at The Russell was wonderful. It felt good to know that our stay was also contributing to something positive.

✨ A Hidden Gem in East Nashville! I just returned from a girls weekend at The Russell in Nashville, and I’m still glowing from the experience. This boutique hotel, beautifully converted from a historic church, is hands-down one of my favorite stays ever. The decor was absolutely darling—thoughtful, vibrant, and full of character. The bed? Heavenly. The linens? So snuggly I didn’t want to leave. Every detail was spot-on, and the location couldn’t have been better—right in East Nashville, steps from a healthy grocery store and a lovely park where I got to exercise each morning. The Russell truly provided everything we needed and more. I couldn’t be happier with our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for charm, comfort, and a meaningful experience. I’ll absolutely be back! 💛

Yelp
The Russel is a beautiful little church-turned-boutique hotel tucked away from in East Nashville. It's in a quiet area, great to come back to after the hustle of Broadway. The check-in process is all handled electronically and there are large luggage lockers available if you need a place to hold your luggage before or after checkout. No food is served here but there are a couple of cute cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance from the hotel. We did have one issue with our room but the owners resolved it super quickly and moved us to another room at no additional cost to us within a few hours. The photos are of the second room we stayed in. It seems like every room in this hotel would be unique since our first and second rooms were totally different. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone.

Yelp
We had an incredible stay at the Russell! What a beautiful hotel. We stayed in Penthouse 2, its huge and has a wide open view of the giant stained glass window. The location is perfect, we walked all over the neighborhood, to the 5 points, and Downtown Nashville. Highly recommend!

C M.

Yelp
This isn't really a hotel. It's an over priced airbnb with no kitchen. Check in is done electronically. So there is no one there at the front desk. All communications are done with some sort of AI email system that allowed me to check in at 4 and then sent me 2 or 3 "friendly" reminders that I had to be out by 10.30 the next morning. The room I had was interior. Which doesn't mean interior looking at the courtyard. It means it is interior like a storage room with no windows. !! The room did not smell like a windowless room. They did have a very nice renovation of the church and saved the stained glass windows.

Yelp
The Russell was my go-to hotel while in the process of moving to Nashville. I love that the Russell is no fuss. You park in a reserved lot across the street and let yourself into the hotel using a keypad. (You receive all instructions via text and email.) You also use a code to get into your room. The rooms are small but beautiful. My favorite had a desk, a "skylight" controlled by a remote, and a gorgeous, bright-Orange tiled bathroom. The free snacks, bottled water, and robes were fun touches. The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee from the self-serve coffee station. The location is also within walking distance to Joyland, Butcher and Bee, and Edley's.

Yelp
The Russell Hotel is INCREDIBLE. The check in process was seamless, the communication stellar, and the hotel is beautiful and amazing. This hotel is an old church that has been remodeled to accommodate guests. The room is cozy and spacious. The shower is HUGE. The amenities are simple but exactly what we need. The beds and pillows are VERY comfortable. The lobby is absolutely beautiful and offers a coffee bar, luggage lockers for storage, a fun photo booth, a phone booth, and an area for snacks. There is an easy-to-find ice machine with filtered water, as well. And finally, the mission and vision of the Russell make it even better, caring for the homeless of the area. I love this place and will definitely return when I come back to Nashville.

Yelp
Beautiful rustic church that's been beautifully remodeled into a modern chic boutique hotel. Upon walking in there are many eye catching vignettes to see. A lot of time and thought has gone into all the design and additions. Don't forget to check out the little "Smile booth" for some quirky photo opportunities. The room we stayed in was great. Large bathroom, huge walk-in shower. Room was very studio-like; just one room. Coffee in room and plenty of goodies/memorabilia to keep. Loved everything about this place. Even check out time was nice! Gave us a relaxing morning to sleep in, stay in bed, and have some coffee. Communication with host was great. Always received a response to txts. Negatives: -walls were a bit thin. Thankfully we only had about 5 min of some drunk young people making noise. But if I had called the number given, I know they would've taken care of it immediately. Luckily, as mentioned it stopped wuix

Yelp
Why pay more to stay at a chain when you can experience real character! The room was perfect. Super clean and private. Really well insulated from hearing your mentors. The way they have set it up for access without a concierge is very cool.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place. I found out about The Russell when I was buying tickets to see Gary Numan at The Basement. This hotel was recommended by the venue. I had no idea how cool it was as I was initially looking for something in walking distance of the venue. The Russell is a fusion of old and new, artsy and classy, and modern and antiquity. It is a conciergeless hotel, so no checking in with a human and waiting in long lines at a desk. The decor is absolutely amazing. The stained glass, the art, the flooring. They offer free coffee in the lobby and also each room has a complimentary snack basket, robes, and water. There are books to read in the room and lobby and a photo booth and snack machine. We will definitely be going back!!! I can't rate this high enough.

Yelp
ditch the chain hotels and book a room at the russell! great rooms, spacious bathroom with massive walking shower, soft cozy robes, free coffee, recording studio, luggage storage, and super close to great food & drinks!

Yelp
Such a unique place to stay! Loved the extra touches like a steamer and Dyson hairdryer. The coffee machine in the morning and ample places to set up on a laptop was also great. Parking was super easy. The room was small but very comfortable (Room 3:1.) The AC was nice and cold and the bed was cozy. My boyfriend and I had a really great time here. We also loved the snacks and cup holders and luxury toiletries in the bathroom. We weren't far from anything we wanted to go see in Nashville. Just the best stay! Great communication from the property, too! #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
Family of 5 - 2 night stay The rustic, shabby chic, and yet modern appeal is very unique. The free coffee/tea in the lobby was much appreciated. The lockers are a fantastic idea. I couldn't get enough of the decor - so unique. We stayed in a 2 queen + sofa room. Pros: the snacks, water, fridge, noise machine, plushy robes, decor, Dyson hair dryer, liquid hand soap (finally! Bar soap for hands is just gross IMO), extra towels and washcloths, lighting/parking for safety. And best of all- it was CLEAN! Communication was top notch (though I didn't contact them on our stay). The hotel is in a safe, well lit area with $$$$ homes as neighbors. Room for Improvement: at first the beds seemed super comfy but then I just couldn't sleep in them and my back hurt in the morning. Unfortunately, for my family the beds just weren't comfortable. There was something off with the shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers. There didn't seem to be any conditioner? I thought maybe the labels got messed up but none of them were conditioner (they all lathered). Maybe I missed it but it would have been nice to also order additional snacks.. they were delicious! Even though the beds weren't as comfy as I had hoped the rest of the experience was top notch and exceeded our expectations. I do recommend using the noise machine provided as it is a church with high ceilings such that a screaming baby in the middle of the night is amplified. While I felt bad for the parents and the baby... it kind of made everyone suffer when they decided to walk the baby in the hallway (eek) I would definitely return and stay in this beautiful hotel and of course I feel good that it supports local missions. Splendidly done!

Yelp
The Russell Hotel was recommended on The Basement East website. We were headed to Nashville for a friend's album release party (Natalie Hemby). It was blocks from the venue and I love boutique hotels and this one had lots of extra pluses. Beautiful church renovated into 21 unique units. Close to the venue, close to downtown, their donations and support of Rooms and Meals for Homeless, etc. Beautiful, quiet, constant check-ins and assistance from the owners, etc. definitely on my next Nashville trip list.

Yelp
I cannot say enough about our stay at this hotel in East Nashville. Everything was just as I had read in other reviews and on their website. I didn't want my trip too planned out and so we set out on an adventure to Tennessee with only our first two nights booked - here at The Russell. We loved our stay so much we rebooked for our return trip to Nashville from Knoxville for our last night before grabbing an early morning flight. I had considered staying closer to the airport our last night, but there was so much about The Russell that we loved that I looked at the availability for our last night. We we were lucky - they only had a few rooms left (it was the night before Thanksgiving). We stayed in room 2:8 our first two nights and then stayed in 2:7 our last night. 2:7 was a little smaller than 2:8 and was an internal room, so no view of the neighborhood (we didn't mind as we had an early morning flight). 2:8 was amazing! I loved seeing the fall colors out of the two windows behind the bed. The bathroom was also slightly larger in 2:8. Both rooms were as pictured on their website. Beds were comfortable, the noise levels were fine, and we slept like babies. The luggage elevator was handy. The coffee station downstairs was a nice touch. The music playing downstairs was also nice and inviting. We used the large luggage lockers our last night as we got to Nashville early but wanted to be out and about most of the evening. Super simple. I appreciated the text message check-ins asking if we needed anything. The treats in the room were also a sweet touch. I appreciated the mini-fridge, waters, and in-room Keurig for our morning. The biggest perk was the free parking in the very large lot across the street - I don't care to pay resort fee parking at $30+ a night and rely on valet service. This was a huge bonus. While we didn't walk the neighborhood, it seemed walkable. I could go on and on! I am hoping to have another trip out to Nashville but with my extended family and this is definitely where I will try to book us all rooms.

Yelp
This hotel is built within a beautifully restored church about a mile and a half from Nashville's Broadway Street and downtown. The lobby is decorated simply and very tastefully. The decor is modern and sleek. It accentuates, and doesn't draw away from, the beauty of the high ceilings, stained glass windows and original woodwork from the pre-existing chapel. There are gorgeously draped individual spaces dedicated to a snack machine, a private phone room for cell phones, (that has an awesome retro dial phone too), and a photo room with a ring light for selfies. The art work is of local musicians and the style of the art work is simple and chic. Our room was on the second floor and had exposed original brickwork and iron and wood beams with a ceiling that had a peak of 13.5 feet! The bed was amazing and the bathroom was gorgeous. 2 comfy robes for our stay we're included. We arrived earlier than expected and when I contacted the hotel to inquire about early checkin, I was pleasantly surprised with a "Yes!" The addition of the snack basket in our room featuring local goods and Russell koozies was the icing on the very exceptional cake. We will be back and will refer many friends here as well.

Yelp
Incredible hotel I am going to attempt to list all the reasons, but it will be nearly impossible to do so. This hotel exceeds any expectation you could possibly have. My wife and I stayed in the 2P suite which is the Penthouse Suite and it was extremely reasonable. During covid all of the entry was completely contactless and the rooms have a key code so you don't have to worry about a silly room key that you have to fumble in your wallet. The room was extremely nice included and dining space with a velvet couch with beautiful stained glass views. The rooms included a beautiful vintage fridgeaire fridge as well as a dope smeg coffee pot. The rooms also included incredible robes with a claw foot tub that was fitted inside the shower. The intentionality was surperb you could text at any time for assistance. The notebook in the room includes neighborhood hotspots and coffee/ food recommendations with detailed descriptions. Every detail in this rooms is crafted for the creative eye. We are already planning to come back and will be definitely staying in the 2P room again. Best hotel I have ever stayed at and the customer service is phenomenal. PS be sure to check out the photo booth as well as the coffee bar.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying at The Russel! It used to be a church, and you could see how they maintained the beautiful architecture - the stained glass windows were absolutely breathtaking! Everything was very clean, and the doors had keypads with codes so there were no room keys. The beds were huge and so comfy. I loved the skylight that let natural light in, and it was easy to close at the push of a button. The bathrooms were really nice, and the hotel, in general, was beautiful and well kept! I loved the photobooth located inside the hotel as well :) Overall, an excellent stay, and I'm looking forward to being back!

Yelp
I selected this hotel solely because of its location. I was a bit concerned when I learned of their self check-in procedures, but I figured the worst thing that could happen would be a minor adventure. My concerns were completely baseless, as this is a charming, well-appointed facility. Parking was convenient, check-in was a breeze, and our room was more spacious than I anticipated. We enjoyed our stay very much, and I hope to visit here again.

Dani M.

Yelp
Can I give more stars? *********** OMG. This is a lovely place. The rooms are stunning. Soft sheets and pillows, even softer robes. I could not stop taking pictures of the decor and lounge area. We super loved the no concierge, self entry too. If you go to Nashville for the nighlife it is fun, but to get away from it the Russell is a $20 Uber away. We walked the neighborhood in the day. So lovely. The home and fall trees were beautiful. This is by far the best hotel I have EVER been to. AND part of your cost goes back to the community. How cool is that? I might go back just to stay at the Russell. AMAZING!!!!!

Yelp
We recently stayed at The Russell in the Tower suite - 2:T.  The stay was very different for my normal stay - I travel for work and am a Diamond member with a different hotel chain, so needless to say I was out of my comfort zone.  I am thrilled with my stay!  Check-in was very easy and the communication from the staff via email & text was clear and concise and easy to understand.    The décor is like no other place I have stayed.  Walking in, the lobby was decorated with inviting and unusual furniture that was surprisingly comfortable.  There was a unique mix between modern comforts and the artwork gave nods to the original church building and Nashville / country music heritage in a very Andy Warhol way.    The amenities of fresh coffee, tea, water and sparkling water were always available in common areas.   Every room contained the amenities you would expect - just elevated.  For instance, the bathroom had robes for our use, a clothes steamer and a Dyson hairdryer I was dying to try out in addition to Nashville specific treats - Goo Goo Cluster, snack bag from Music City Merchantsp, coffee, etc - these local additions gave me a feel of what it is like to live in Nashville.  Our room was incredible - a suite with 2 king beds (in separate areas) and an entertaining area.  We chose to sleep in the bed literally in a tower - I believe the old church bell tower.  The Russell was kind enough to provide sleep masks if the skylights in the tower woke us up too early.  My stay at The Russell has opened my eyes to boutique hotels.  What I mean, is that before, I would have just booked my normal chain hotel, and now whether for business or vacation, I will always stay at The Russell when visiting Nashville, especially since part of my stay supports the homeless in Nashville.  A huge thanks to the Russell for not only an amazing hotel experience, but your dedication to giving back and making our world a better place.

Yelp
The beds are fantastic! The atmosphere is so warm and comforting. Then those robes! . I will always pick this place to stay if ever coming to Nashville again!!!

Yelp
We had such an awesome night at The Russell! It's such a unique place... convenient to all things Nashville. The property and rooms are spotless and are so fun and trendy! We will definitely be back (so that we can give back) to this gorgeous place. #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
The Russell was by far the best place I have stayed at not only in Nashville but other major cities around the US! The high end touches, the lobby was beautiful, locally sourced snacks in the room, such a comfortable bed, and the location was great for walking to great bars and restaurants. It's so nice to visit Nashville away from the major strips and experience the city in this way. Will 100% be back at The Russell and already told my BF that's where I want to spend my birthday this year. #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
Wow! This hotel exceeded our expectations. We only stayed one night but I wish we could've stayed longer. Great location, walking distance to lots of great restaurants and there is a playground nearby. The rooms and lobby were so fun and clean. We stayed in the bell tower suite and loved the space and the fact that we woke up looking at the beautiful stained glass! It was also a fun surprise to find that they have stain blow dryers, I was super excited about this. The hotel took extra procedures to make us feel safe due to covid. Masks on in the lobby, sanitizer stations throughout and overall cleanliness. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Great check in process. Parking. Cool design. Convenient location. I recommend staying here. Kinda low key because it's an old church. Spend your time taking selfie's throughout.

Yelp
Just happened to stumble across this boutique hotel on Hotels.com a couple years ago, and I'm so glad I did! It's been the ONLY place I've ever stayed in Nashville, whether that's on work trips or for pleasure. The rooms are functional and funky, so I'm willing to give up a luxurious bathtub for the bright orange shower tiles. The property's design is definitely trendy and that understandably attracts the influencer crowd, but this hasn't been anything that impacts my stay. I do like that the whole check in process is digital and there's no front desk. Some other reviews have mentioned the thin walls, that's accurate. They do have posted quiet hours but on my last stay, I had some incredibly noisy neighbors that screamed outside my door all night long and it was unpleasant. I'm not typically that person, but when this didn't come to a natural end after 3+ hours of lost sleep, I sent a text to management. Not sure what transpired on their end, but the neighbors settled down shortly after, so it was nice that it was taken care of.

Kate B.

Yelp
Only stayed one night, but I will be back for a longer stay. Unique property, you will want to walk around it taking pictures. There is a dumb waiter for getting your luggage upstairs to a perfectly clean and cheerful room. Beds were comfortable. Walking distance to lots of cute restaurants. Walk to snooze eatery for breakfast!

Yelp

Yelp
Awesome hotel, great cause - love that staying here gives back to the homeless community! I loved the building, the room, the lobby, the location... The only thing I didn't like was if you're on the first floor you'll clearly hear anyone who is on the floors above yours, and it sounded like there were elephants bowling above our heads for hours at a time... There is free parking across the street and location is great!! You can walk to restaurants and a brewery! Check in and check out was so easy and simple - no human interaction needed!! Free coffee and tea in the lobby. #RussellNashville #buzzybooth
google avatar

Yelp
Unique hotel and concept. We like their commitment to help the homeless community. Nice facility and touches - little snacks and a small fridge in the room. Be aware though - the popcorn that they leave in the room, the popcorn company website states - potential seller issue! While spartan, but well lit open space. Quite noisy, however. Neighborhood has some restaurants. Walkable distance to Nissan Stadium and if you cross the bridge, you would be in happening downtown area.

Yelp
The Russell was absolutely fabulous! Such a gorgeous historic building- the stained glass windows are stunning and all of the furniture/decor was great! We stayed in the penthouse room and the vibes were immaculate. Good location, in walking distance to anything you might need. Wish I could've spent more time here-- but that just means I'll be back soon! #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
Wonderful hotel that preserves the history of beautiful church. Great amenities with plush robes, Dyson hair dryer and Dyson fans plus gourmet snacks. Love the fact the hotel gives back to the community too.

Yelp
The Russell was one of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed!! The decor was impeccable, the amenities were so special and well thought out! (Hello, even a Dyson hair dryer?! So nice!) The neighborhood was quiet and so beautiful but still close to downtown. We will stay here for sure next time in Nashville! We also realized after we were about an hour away that we forgot cash in the safe....I contacted them and they held the cash until we drove back through town to pick up! I highly recommend this hotel!!! #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
Omg!! I cannot say enough about this incredible hotel!! It far exceeded our expectations!! It was gorgeous and as for amenities, they truly thought of everything!! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Having stayed in a lot of hotels in my life, this was so unique. I felt like I was in a beautiful home of a friend. Upon approaching the building, with its majestic old welcoming architecture, I was excited to go inside. The relaxing colors and schemes started to take away the stresses of the day. The attention to detail and openness was a quick contrast to the normal hotel lobbies. The furniture comfortable and the pockets of seating spread out nicely. We stayed in the tower room and the bedroom in the tower was exquisite. I felt at times we were in a movie set. Absolutely loved the layout. The beds were so comfortable and the amenities welcoming. The stained glass throughout the buildings were both beautiful and artistically place. The ease of getting into hotel and room was quick and seamless using our security codes. No waiting for hotel personnel to check in, that means no lines! Great tasting coffee and even had my sparking water filtered and on tap. Felt very safe in an old established neighborhood with quick access to restaurants, shopping and downtown Nashville. As you can tell I adored and will long remember this special hotel. Anytime I'm in Nashville - this is the place to rest my head.

Yelp
Honestly, everything was really simple, clean, and perfect during our stay. The robes were the softest most lovely little treat. We felt safe during these weird Covid times and it felt good staying in a place that was donating our money to such a great cause. Can't wait to return! #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
We loved our stay at The Russell. It's a beautiful hotel in a great neighborhood with several nearby restaurants and coffee shops. We loved the free snacks in the room and Dyson products. It's like staying at your well-off friends home :) Looking forward to staying there again next time we're passing through Nashville.

Yelp
Yea idk I had to even out these reviews. I stayed there, hands down the best hotel I've stayed in. Attention to detail was A + ++. best sleep I had on my trip as well. Everything was top notch. You gotta stay a night when in Nashville. It's what you wish your home could be like

Yelp
Checked out this morning from The Russell and we are genuinely sad to be leaving. Coming from LA, my friend and I were looking for some place that was fun but comfortable and this hotel checked off all of our boxes. The building itself is absolutely lovely, one could easily sit in the lobby for hours watching the light come through the intricate stained glass windows or flipping through the books scattered about for guests to enjoy. Add in the self serve coffee/water/soda in the fridge and you are set! We stayed in room 2:3 and it was perfect. The beds were extremely comfortable, the robes were divine, and there were free goodies to eat/drink! Good eats and fun things to do were all super close to this location, we didn't have to drive far to find somewhere cool to hang. If I ever come back to Nashville, I'm staying here again for sure.

Yelp
Love love love this place ! I was looking at air Bnb's for New Years and they were sky high . I started looking at Hotels.com and The Russell came up . I loved the concept of turning an old church into a hotel . The decor inside is fabulous and comfy . I made myself coffee from the Kurig and it was delicious. Just got to my room and very happy with the quality of everything in the room. I have a cool ass red shower and even the shampoo is quality . Everywhere in the room is Dyson which is super dope that the electronics are a good brand . I even checked if I could have a later check out and they were super accommodating. I'm definitely referring all my friends , family , and clients from California to stay here . Oh and I forget to mention that it has a photo booth closet

Yelp
This place is so cute! Clean and modernistic look, the technology and utilities are very up to date and well maintained. Also love the idea of them giving back - would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This place was amazing. We did not know what to expect but from check in to check out it was perfect. The converted old church was so cool. The add in all the nice touches like free snacks, coffee makers and even Dyson products. We highly recommend this place and we will be back no doubt. #RussellNashville #buzzybooth

Yelp
Won a free night here. Upgraded to the tower suite for a Bachlorette gathering. Wow this place was unbelievably beautiful. I want to stay again to try another great room. Free photo booth where you can text and email pictures, coffee, and the room was ready for us with snacks.

Yelp
I'm confused about all the good reviews for this place. Very disappointing. First of all, it's expensive, it's more then most hotels that I looked at with proper amenities. The hotel was very misleading I ended up in a room in the middle of the church with no windows. Also the rooms are tiny it's basically a bed in a room and a foot of space around it. And I live in New York City. There's not even a closet there's a tiny shelf you could hang 2 shirts up on. Also the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from the rooms around you or in the halls. Also if you want to walk around the neighborhood it's pretty sketch. I feel like I got scammed on this hotel it looks like they slapped up some paint and called it a day. Also no one works here and there's no hotel staff which is super annoying and no one can help you with anything. I'm not used to zero costumer service there's not really anywhere you can even hang out in the hotel or outside. Wish I would have stayed somewhere else.

Yelp
It's our second time staying at The Russell and we'll definitely be back! Everything is SO comfortable! Oh my gosh- those sheets. I'm ordering my own right now. I just love the ease of checking in and out, the creativity of the beautiful space, the fun touches like snacks, all the cool places to hang out, and the wonderful mission of the hotel. Simply top notch!

Yelp
Pros: This hotel is so cute! It feels really unique and has fun little areas all around the lobby. I appreciate the free snacks in the room and the bed/bedding is SO comfortable. The staff is also very nice and helpful. The robes they provide are very comfy and the bathroom in my room was really spacious. The neighborhood feels safe and you're in a really close distance from good places to eat and a Walgreens for last minute shopping. I also liked the security of the door being locked by a keypad versus the traditional card. You also can only get into the hotel by entering a code at the front door which made me feel safer knowing people couldn't just wander in. Cons: The walls are REALLY thin. I feel like this is kind of on me for not thinking of this when I booked the room because I didn't consider that since this is an old former church, the insulation between the rooms is going to be non-existent. I picked a bottom floor room for easy coming and going, but didn't realize this meant I would hear stomping constantly from the room above me. Even with my earplugs this kept me up half the night. My room was also next to a drink station which is convenient but since the walls are so thin I could hear the machine whirring almost constantly. If you are someone who doesn't get bothered by this kind of noise, then you'll be fine. But if you are like me- pick a room on the top floor maybe? Another con is that the water pressure in my shower wasn't the best. It was livable but if you're someone who needs good pressure for hair washing then this is something to keep in mind. A side note is that this building might be hard for you to get into if you are differently abled as it's two sets of stairs in the front leading to the front door. In summary: This place is really unique and cute, but unfortunately because of the constant noise from above and around my room, I wouldn't recommend this unless maybe you picked a top floor room.

Yelp
This is my 2nd time to stay at The Russell and I absolutely love it there. Love that it was a church so it feels very comforting. The design is amazing and they paid great attention to detail. Will continue to recommend it to family and friends!

Yelp
We travel to Nashville almost monthly and this is hands down the coolest, cleanest, most modern place we have stayed! Check in was so easy, with codes on the doors so you don't have to worry about key cards. The decor is so fun, with original stained glass throughout the building. The rooms are spacious, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the shower is huge. Each room has free snacks, coozies, and those amazing Dyson hair dryers - seriously, what hotel has these?!? The best part of this hotel is their charitable mission - each stay helps provide meals or housing for those in need. I just can't say enough about how great this place is - we will definitely be back!
