The Rusty Pelican Mauritius

We really enjoyed our stay at the rusty pelican. It is very convenient location (if you have a car), close to Le Morne beach, Chamarel and with good restaurants and cafes nearby. The room is big,clean and with everything you need. There is also a laundry you can use free of charge. Would definitely come back!

We stayed in room 1 on the ground floor for 2 nights. There was no ocean view, and no cleaning service, but it wasn’t really needed. ➕ What truly impressed us were the three (!!!) massage chairs and the coffee machine with real coffee beans at the reception 👍🏼👏🏼 The attention to detail was delightful — yoga mats and even aqua shoes, a good hairdryer, an iron, mosquito repellents, plenty of kitchenware, strong hot water pressure in the shower👌🏼 and a reliable internet connection. The atmosphere was very calm and peaceful. There’s something truly special about the way birds sing in Mauritius. ➖ The only thing is, in the message from Booking (we made the reservation through that platform), they asked us to leave a 10/10 review, which felt a bit pushy to ask not just a review but 10 out of 10 rating 😅🫣🙈

Absolutely fantastic place! Fully equipped, spatial. In the morning you can hear the birds singing. It has a real holiday vibe :) You’ll truly feel at home here.

Excellent place to stay in la Gaulette. Perfectly situated in walking distance to the bars and restaurants. Large apartment with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. The massage chair on the ground floor is hard to leave once you are in it.

The place was ideal for us, very good location in a quiet mostly residential area but with easy access to anything we needed (we could even walk to the big supermarket and some restaurants). The accommodation was exactly what we needed, we were two couples and each had their room and own bathroom while we shared the kitchen and dining area which we loved. The kitchen was fully equipped and we enjoyed numerous meals on the big dining table. The pool area was a dream, not only to refresh ourselves but also to chill out on the deck. Overall an unforgettable stay, really exceeded our expectations, totally recommended!

Spacious room with a kitchenette and fridge. Nice terrasse towards a small pool. Good Wifi. Good free coffee. Very little taste in terms of architecture and furnishing. Not well maintained. In the 4 days we were there, no maid entered our room and bird droppings accumulated in the mattresses of the deck chairs. You feel that the owner is not present. La Gaulette is not charming. The next beach is Le Morne, which is very nice.

Our stay at the Rusty Pelican was fantastic. We spent a week in the Heavenly Apartment and it was always a wonderful space to come back to after a long day of exploring the south-west of the island. The team are very attentive, always making sure the room was clean and checking in to see if there was something we needed. You won't be by the sea, by the tall palms and pool make for a very tranquil place. It's located in La Gualette and is well positioned to visit many attractions by car, Le Morne is just down the road and the 7 Coloured Earth in Chamarel is 30 minutes away.

We spent 9 amazing days in Rusty Pelican in a comfortable apartment with full amenities in the middle of a tropical garden with swimming pool. There are basic food for breakfast in the reception. There is also a possibility to use the washing machine. Rooms are air conditioned. Small minus were too soft beds. The communication with Jean-Michel and Charlotte was friendly and pleasant. We received useful advice and communicating with him has always been fun. A supermarket, a pharmacy, an ATM and several restaurants are just a 2-minute drive away, or on foot. Car rental is also nearby. The beach Le Morne is about a 10-minute drive away. All interesting activities are also available very quickly. Also thanks to this apartment we really enjoyed the stay and we definitely recommend to try it.
