We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Rutland Arms in Bakewell. The location is perfect right in the heart of the town centre, making it so easy to explore everything on foot. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, full of charm and character. We were lucky enough to stay in the Jane Austen room, and it was truly unbelievable such a unique and special experience. We dined at the hotel for lunch, dinner, and breakfast. All the meals were excellent — good quality ingredients, generous portions, and very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient throughout our stay. It’s clear they take pride in providing great service. We couldn’t have asked for a better getaway. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be returning!

We went with friends to dine at the Rutland Arms Hotel. Situated in the centre of beautiful Bakewell, it has become our favourite place to eat when we visit the area. It was a busy evening but we found the food was superb, the service excellent and we particularly enjoyed the seating which gives some privacy when in a group. We were grateful to the staff who took care of one of our friends when she felt poorly. We wanted to thank the man who we assumed was the restaurant manager and other staff who were so kind.

We took some friends out to dinner at the Rutland Arms Hotel and we can't speak highly enough of the dining experience and service we received. Situated in the heart of beautiful Bakewell, it has become our favourite place. The dining room is so well planned for privacy while we ate, the food was exceptional and the staff were kind and attentive. We were especially grateful to staff during this visit as one of our friends felt poorly and the staff kindly looked after her. We didn't find out any names but would like to thank the man who we thought might be the restaurant manager on the evening of Friday 12th September and other staff.

The restaurant is really brilliant, lovely food & service, reasonable prices! Great veggie & vegan selection and a good Bakewell pudding too. Would recommend and our waitress was lovely & knowledgeable despite only starting recently. Thank you!! (Can’t comment on the hotel as we just visited the restaurant).

Went on a Friday for the 2 till 6 fish and chips offer. Sat down in bar area, we were the only customers , there were at least 6 staff around but nobody came to table. Got our own menus from the bar and ordered the fish and chips[at the bar]. Which comes with a free drink at £18 The bill was £48 for 2 people as you have to have beer to qualify for offer???? Was then told no cash only card. Very poor very disappointed.

Just arrived back from a lovely weekend staying at the beautiful Rutland Arms Hotel located right in the centre of Bakwell. We were a party of 4 adults & one dog there for a walking weekend. The hotel itself is full of charm & character with beautiful rooms ,bar area, lobby & dining room. All the walls covered in a stunning array of pictures which gives the hotel a very quirky individual feel. Our room 205 was lovely with all of the extras we expected with tea/coffee ,ironing facilities ,tv & a cooling fan. The bathroom was modern & very clean with topnotch toiletries. Our friends room over in the courtyard was great but had very limited space for their dogs travelling cage (used to make him feel safe & secure in a different environment from home)he's a labrador not a chihuahua so takes a bit of space .Hence only 4* rather than 5. The food was excellent with lots of choice. Breakfast was a great start to the day but differed from Saturday to Sunday with less eggs being served on the 2 days, perhaps different chefs or the hens had stopped laying . Evening meal on the Saturday was tasty & well presented which was enjoyed by all but very surprised when the bill arrived as it was a lot more than we had calculated. It eventually transpired it was not ours but a different table we could have quite easily had paid this if we not spotted the error. A 10% service charge is included on the bill which is voluntary . On the Saturday we seemed to have an invasion of the dreaded Wasps which become annoying whilst eating & drinking (Mother nature always seems to send something to annoy )perhaps a decoy of something sweet /small cup of cider would have been an attempt to distract them. The staff were friendly & professional at all times & made us feel very welcome. Great added bonus of free parking for hotel guests . Thankyou to the team for picking up my email when we got home as I left my walking jacket in the hotel & agreeing to post back out to me . Would highly recommend this hotel with its lovely facilities & staff to family & friends. We would certainly use the Rutland Arms again.

Lovely hotel - very classic, we had a good deal staying at the hotel - we had a room in the courtyard because we had a small dog - the room is fine but cluttered - too much furniture in what is a small room and again a shower over a bath which is not really great. Mainly because of the risk of slipping and stepping over into the bath and because of energy costs why have a bath now…?|Breakfast was ok - had to help yourself to toast in the restaurant and there was a ‘queue’. Again it appears that there is a staff shortage - we had to wait a considerable time for breakfast , not by any means the staff members fault she was working so hard to keep up with the demand from not only her section but from the restaurant as well.. shame her colleagues did not help her until the manager arrived and helped her out…the breakfast was variable not always of the same standard BUT the evening meals were really good and cannot fault them. Overall a good experience and would recommend…

An absolutely stunning restaurant in a prime location in Bakewell. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience with very helpful waiters. Located just opposite the Bakewell green with the original Bakewell bakery within 2 minutes walking distance. Food was generally as expensive as a nicer pub but atmosphere was that of some of the nicest restaurants out there. Brilliant value for money. There was also a wonderful bar that looked well tended to and even featured Victorian stuffed deer on the wall! All very clean and comfortable. We went for Sunday lunch and it was very busy. The service was attentive, but the food was a little slow, though good when it arrived.

Yelp
We have stayed at this hotel many times before and we always enjoy it. The staff are always so lovely and helpful. The rooms are always first class, super comfy and so clean. We love staying here and always do when we have any kind of special occasion to celebrate. Our family love it here now too. We look forward to many more wonderful stays.

Yelp
Perfect location in the center of Bakewell across from the gardens. We just had drinks, but unlike many local pubs who were inhospitable, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Good whisky selection, open later than most.

Yelp
Went here for a wedding - lovely historical building, well maintained with good mixture of contemporary and traditional decor. Rooms lovely and spacious, very clean and well maintained. Staff couldn't have been more helpful to us all. Reception room for wedding beautifully decorated. Food was of high standard and plentiful and the menu in the bar looked good also - afternoon tea for £16 a head especially looked like a nice treat. Downside is no parking and on a busy weekend you may have a 10/15 min walk from any parking space you may find.
