Absolutely stunning location, beautiful hotel and attentive staff. Two night stay with amazing breakfasts and excellent evening me in the eatery. Special thanks to Sophie and Holly our servers in the eatery - absolutely delightful! Compliments to the chefs also! Highly recommend! Loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back.

We were cold, hungry and it was mid-morning on a slow-business Thursday. We ordered Smashed Avocado on Sourdough Toast and Steak Hash (something I’d not tried before but its description tempted me). After a wait of 25 minutes since ordering we were looking forward to tucking in. Our brunch arrived beautifully prepared and attractive enough to take a photo of. But, both meals were barely warm. Runny but cold egg, pink but tepid steak, cold potatoes - only the onions were warm. We of course told the waitress who took both meals away to correct the error. I suspect what happened was the meals were cooked perfectly but sat at the service station for a long time slowly dissipating their heat. After 5 minutes the meals arrived back and we were warned the plates were very hot. We were hungry so began eating immediately only to find the eggs were now hard, the steak and the bread dry and the onions a little frazzled - all typical signs of being flash-heated hastily (microwaved?) on full power. We had run out of time so ate what was edible and left. What a shame, the Rutland is a well-liked hotel with a great reputation, the food was wonderfully prepared the waitresses were polite but somewhere along the line slow service and over-zealous use of a microwave/flash re-heat spoilt the occasion.

We stayed over for 2 nights. The room was very clean and warm with everything you need. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice, as was the evening meal. There was a good gluten free choice. Staff are lovely and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

They are really looking after us here. Was welcomed in the room by a lovely note. A gift for Camelot (the dog) food has been so hearty and filling. Has the soup and beef goulash. Only planned to spend a day here before heading to Scotland but opted to extend. As the location is perfect for wondering around the town and peak district

We came to celebrate a cousin’s birthday and have our annual cousin night out. We had high hopes for the food as we’ve been previously and it’s usually superb. We were quite disappointed last night. The waiters/ waitresses were lovely but not as attentive. Unsure if they’d just had a long day and were tired, but we had the following issues: - It was a table for 6 and we had 3 pepper shakers 1 salt shaker with no salt. - There was a long wait for the food & no apology. - I was given a steak (no steak knife) - We were asked if we wanted any sauces, 3 of us asked for mayonnaise for burger / steak and two ketchup. But we were given 2 mayonnaise & had to request another. - I don’t recall anyone coming to ask us how our meal was and neither could anyone on our table. - We then all ordered desserts and my husband had the Bakewell pudding with … COLD custard All in all, the food was nice but the service could have been better. I know mistakes happen, but when you have to keep stopping to ask for missing items it does take away from the experience. It is a shame because we’ve been coming here since we had our engagement party in 2012. We hope to come again, but it probably wouldn’t be our first choice based on last night. I hope that this is taken as constructive and hopefully everyone is more energised & attentive in the new year!

I stopped by here for lunch in there restaurant the place was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the whole vibe was lovely. Drinks came out and we had ordered one of the Christmas mocktails which was so good and then our lunch came and it all tasted so good as well as the portions being quite large Deffo recommend stopping by here for some food if you’re in the area!

Myself and my Girlfriend stayed the night at The Rutland Hotel and it was an amazing experience. All the staff were so very warm, friendly and welcoming. The Hotel itself was extremely clean and the decor was so luxurious. Beautiful furniture throughout the property and full of lovely paintings. Our evening meal and breakfast was so delicious. And it was extra special with all the Christmas trees and decorations up too. We will be back again. Many thanks. David & Monica xx

We parked the car at the hotel carpark, which is across the road, from the hotel.|Checked in by Harmony who pointed out, helpful info concerning the 218 bus service which calls at Chatsworth.|Well appointed en-suite room on the first floor.|Well stocked bar, which serves excellent local real ales, and can also produce decent negronis and bloody marys.|Excellent plate of roast beef served by Jake and his kitchen team, washed down, with an excellent Malbec. Dining in the picture gallery restaurant was an experience. Matched by the profesionalism of the staff.|Excellent breakfast on monday served in the same dining.|We are frequent stayers with the coaching inn group, but this establishment is our favourite. It is helped by the sheer profesionalism of the staff who take pride in working at the Rutland. Yelp
We have stayed at this hotel many times before and we always enjoy it. The staff are always so lovely and helpful. The rooms are always first class, super comfy and so clean. We love staying here and always do when we have any kind of special occasion to celebrate. Our family love it here now too. We look forward to many more wonderful stays.

Yelp
Perfect location in the center of Bakewell across from the gardens. We just had drinks, but unlike many local pubs who were inhospitable, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Good whisky selection, open later than most.

Yelp
Went here for a wedding - lovely historical building, well maintained with good mixture of contemporary and traditional decor. Rooms lovely and spacious, very clean and well maintained. Staff couldn't have been more helpful to us all. Reception room for wedding beautifully decorated. Food was of high standard and plentiful and the menu in the bar looked good also - afternoon tea for £16 a head especially looked like a nice treat. Downside is no parking and on a busy weekend you may have a 10/15 min walk from any parking space you may find.
