We had a lovely 2 night stay here on the Spring Escapes package. Our room was in the courtyard block across the road from the main hotel. The room was spacious and the bed comfy. We had complimentary coffee and cake on arrival, as our room was just being finished up at just before 3pm. The Reception staff were lovely and helpful and the gentleman serving in the cafe was hospitable and chatty. The evening meals were both fantastic - there were no restrictions with the package, the whole menu was available to you. The same for the breakfasts, which were delicious and very filling. The waiting staff in the eatery were also friendly and provided good service in a non rushed way. All in all we had a wonderful visit in Bakewell and an exceptional stay at the Rutland Arms and will be back again in the autumn.

We stayed for one night in the block of rooms that are situated across the road from the main hotel. The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. Despite being in a very central position, it was very quiet. The en-suite was clean and well equipped, water pressure in the shower was a little on the low side but adequate. Parking is a bit tight but there were several large vans which was probably just unfortunate. Breakfast was excellent, the staff were very courteous and friendly and the dining room is exquisite. We had not booked in advance but we were very well looked after and would not hesitate to stay again.

We stayed in the main hotel where the public spaces were lovely. We carried our bags up stairs & through various fire doors. Our room was small & very hot - no A/C & no fridge. The sash windows didn't work, so we had to prop the window open for some air. A small fan was provided. Breakfast was good. Service throughout was generally quite relaxed.

Situated right in the heart of Bakewell. This is a gorgeous historical building, full of character and tastefully decorated. We went for an evening meal on Sunday, great atmosphere. The staff were delightful. Millie in particular was a gem. The food was absolutely delicious. The sauce on the prawns was incredible and the cheese souffle was the perfect cheesiness.

Our 3 day stay was magical. The hotel is a lovely building, our room was fantastic ( spacious, comfortable) - but the jewel in the crown was the staff. Every single staff member we spoke with was terrific - polite, attentive but not intrusive, good humoured. It seems unkind to single out anyone but we will! The quartet of Liam, Lily, Lauren and Canada Dave are an absolute tribute to how your group runs its hotels so well - in face so well we have booked a couple of days at your sister hotel at Hayton in Devon.||And it would be remiss for me not to mention the quality of food we enjoyed at breakfast and dinner, all of which was delicious and fairly priced. Hubby said the beer was pretty darned good too!

We have been visiting the Rutland Arms for many years, and sometimes it has been good, on others it has been memorably poor. Our recent visit was not great. We had intended to stay for after noon tea, but as it was a hot day we sat down first for what was described as “ Iced Super Fruit tea”. ||The lounge area is well maintained and comfortable so we didn’t mind waiting. When our drinks arrived there was obviously no ice in them. The waitress said “The ice must have melted on the way”? As we were sat not far from the bar, this didn’t make any sense! ||The drinks were served in heavily moulded, what I would describe as jam jars with handles. Not really in keeping with the hotel, however what was more Important to two weary travellers was the “iced” drink within. Unfortunately the drink was tepid warm at best, and worst still I think that one tea bag had been used between the two large jam jars, making the drink both warm and weak. Despite our thirst we could only partially drink the contents, and feeling rather queasy we left the rest, and didn’t stay for afternoon tea. See photo.||We would have said something at the time however they were busy with a wedding and the reception desk was unstaffed with a queue waiting. On other occasions our visit has been fine, but visits like this one unfortunately, literally leave a bad taste in your mouth!

Can't comment on the rooms as popped in for lunch! The kids fish and chips was brilliant and I really enjoyed the ploughman's. Really nice to not be presented with a plate of cheddar. I loved the cheeses. Thanks for a great lunch!

We came here for dinner, not as hotel guests, and were pleasantly surprised. This was one of the best dinners we had outside London, tried the scotch egg for the first time and loved it. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was great, very nce experience overall.

Yelp
We have stayed at this hotel many times before and we always enjoy it. The staff are always so lovely and helpful. The rooms are always first class, super comfy and so clean. We love staying here and always do when we have any kind of special occasion to celebrate. Our family love it here now too. We look forward to many more wonderful stays.

Yelp
Perfect location in the center of Bakewell across from the gardens. We just had drinks, but unlike many local pubs who were inhospitable, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Good whisky selection, open later than most.

Yelp
Went here for a wedding - lovely historical building, well maintained with good mixture of contemporary and traditional decor. Rooms lovely and spacious, very clean and well maintained. Staff couldn't have been more helpful to us all. Reception room for wedding beautifully decorated. Food was of high standard and plentiful and the menu in the bar looked good also - afternoon tea for £16 a head especially looked like a nice treat. Downside is no parking and on a busy weekend you may have a 10/15 min walk from any parking space you may find.
