As big fans of BAR1661, my wife and I were excited to finally try The Sackville Lounge, hoping for a similar level of quality and experience. There are definitely hints of the same creative flair and attention to detail that we love about its sister bar, but overall, it didn’t quite hit the mark in the same way.
The space itself is nicely done, with a cozy atmosphere and a stylish interior that gives a nod to BAR1661’s vibe. The drinks menu shows promise and you can see they’re trying to keep that signature touch, but the execution felt a bit underwhelming. The cocktails were decent, but lacked the wow factor we’ve come to expect.
Where The Sackville Lounge really shone was in the service. The staff were fantastic throughout-friendly, welcoming and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. They clearly care about creating a good guest experience and that made a big difference to the overall to our time there.
All in all, it was an okay visit. We’re glad we tried it, but if we had to choose, we’d stick with BAR1661 for the full package. Still, The Sackville Lounge has potential and with a few refinements, it could become a standout in its own right.
