"Somewhere in Sri Lanka there might be a villa with better views, but we’ve yet to find one. Set in the far south of the island, high on a rocky headland, glittering azure water stretches out as far as the eye can see and 3 acres of beautiful tropical gardens envelop you; coconut palms sway above your head wherever you lay your towel. The Saffron House offers total seclusion, gorgeous airy dining and lounging areas, and every possible comfort. Decor is simple yet striking: gleaming polished concrete and clean lines abound, and fresh flowers and bright fabrics add splashes of colour throughout. The 4 bedrooms are elegantly decorated - huge floating beds draped in mosquito netting, furniture hand-built from local teak and mango, and opulent indoor/outdoor bathrooms. Add an infinity pool, a front-row sunset seat, delightful staff cooking freshly caught seafood and knock-out curries, and you're in heaven. It’s an easy stroll down to horseshoe-shaped Hiriketiya Bay, where you can laze on golden sand and watch surfers ride gentle waves. Yet this idyllic spot is only just being discovered by those who want a quieter and more authentic slice of Sri Lankan coastline, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy main coastal road. We stayed here for 3 nights and wish we were there for longer ! We are well travelled and this is definitely one of the best places we have stayed.||The Villa has 4 rooms, we had an amazing room with a big comfy bed, bathroom was partly outdoors and was so pretty. The decor is amazing! You can book the whole villa or just one room. There was only one other couple here while we were staying and it felt very private ! The space, gardens, pool and view is just breathtaking! ||The staff were so lovely and breakfast was the best! Lunch and dinner can be cooked for you by the staff , they even go to the shop and buy the ingredients then give you the bill for the ingredients at the end of your stay. Breakfast we hard fruit, curd, eggs, waffles, something different every morning. One evening Chris made us a prawn curry with some sides and it was the best meal we had all holiday! Chris and her team treat you like family and they really are the nicest people. ||The location is great, in-between two amazing beaches , Hiriketiya and dikwella. Both within walking distance, there are bars and restaurants here also.||They have a little sausage dog called sugar and she is the cutest little thing. There are monkeys that even visit in the mornings, it really feels like a little oasis here and we can’t wait to come back !

Where do I even start about this place! One of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever visited. The villa offers absolutely mind-boggling views every corner feels picture-perfect. The rooms are simple yet beautifully done, with a charming touch of elegance. Room 1 and 2 have open-to-sky bathrooms, which give a unique and refreshing experience, while Room 4 boasts a stunning sea view. The entire 4-bedroom villa is tastefully decorated and surrounded by nature you’ll often spot peacocks and monkeys around the property, adding to its charm. The location is perfect ,just a short walk to the beach. Marta, the host, is warm, welcoming, and truly ensures a memorable stay. Do note: prior booking is a must as the villa stays almost fully booked most of the time. A truly unforgettable stay ,highly recommended! 🌴✨

The Saffron House is in southern Sri Lanka, a stunning hidden villa perched on a headland near Hiriketiya Bay, surrounded by tropical gardens and offering sweeping ocean views. It was a beautifully designed, four-bedroom villa with a blending of indoor and outdoor living with simple, elegant architecture. The staff was great and my best breakfast was Curd & Treacle. It’s was so delicious!!!! You can go alone or with friends or family it’s safe and just the place to relax and unwind.

Wow! One of the most beautiful views from a hotel premises and definitely the best accommodation in Sri Lanka. It’s a four room only hotel with a spectacular view from the terrace towards the palms and sea. The infinity pool is stunning and the team is more than polite and supportive. The room and the outdoor shower awesome and the breakfast very delicious. We felt more than home and really enjoyed the time there. We can only recommend you the hotel - you will not regret it.

This place is simply a little peace of heaven on earth!! The most friendly staff, the most beautiful location possible, wonderful rooms, fantastic pool that our kids (we of course as well) loved 😍. It's a big domain, but you feel like in your own private luxury villa with sea view. We enjoyed at max and hope to be back. (difficult to think about improvements, but a little one could perhaps be choosing between options for breakfast for the next day - to avoid food waste for example) BIG thank you!!!! We loved it 🙏😍👌

We stayed at Saffron House this past week (Last week of March 2025). We are so happy we returned to Saffron House (and beautiful Sri Lanka) after a nine years. The home is just as it was - perhaps even better if that is possible. Sadly the beaches and the village around the house has changed - a bit more noisy but it is still quite nice and Saffron House is a beautiful retreat from the surrounding noise. The location of this property is surreal and Chris and her team (including her family members) are superb in how they manage this property. Every meal was outstanding and generous including breakfast. The hosting team at Saffron House extend so much care, joy, attention and humour while honoring the space and privacy for guests. The rooms are spacious and maintained very well. This is a house we will always return to because of its location (and destination Sri Lanka), the way it is managed, the very well prepared meals and the care and affection from Chris and her team

We had an amazing stay at Saffron House - what a hidden gem. Wish I could have stayed here longer as felt like being in paradise - so relaxing and totally immersed in nature! The location is absolutely dreamy, not far from Hiriketiya beach with some lovely little food places including Raa and Lemon grass cafe. Especially loved lounging in the infinity pool with its totally breathtaking views of the ocean - unmissable at sunset. Rooms were decorated nicely with super comfy beds. Thank you to the staff who were so accommodating, arranging transport for us and getting our fave fruits for breakfast! Can't wait to come back.

We stayed at The Saffron House and our trip was great. The room was big and comfortable and love the jungle bathroom. The staff were so attentive which make all the difference travelling with little ones. Location wise it cant get better as its perfectly positioned between Dickwella and Hiri beaches, a short walk to both with plenty nice coffee shops and restaurants bars even closer. An amazing stay, perfect place to decompress.
