To all following me, overall food is great 👍 as compared to any other place in hobart and curries have that nice thick creamy texture and I ordered like 3 curries and all of them were good, must try malai kofta ! Great location and liked nearly all food except the garlic naan had less garlic, so was a little disappointed but the naan were super soft and decent. For the price of what they charge as fine dining, I would only request for great service as the person serving was on the phone most of the time and not attentive enough. The quality is great and quantity is ok, but well, all are giving less quantity these days with no quality, so really pleased with the food and its authentic taste. Must try and hope to see u soon with great service as your food. Would have given 5 stars if the service was attentive.

Location, service, ambience and taste. Saffron Indian restaurant ticks all the boxes for a good Indian dinner. The food is finger licking good and absolutely delicious. Service is excellent even though most of the time the are only 3 servers in duty. On a quick look around, I think that the restaurant can accommodate about 80 patrons at the same time. Pro-tip: Good food takes time to arrive. So avoid going right at peak times. What to order: Anything you like. My favorites are Daal Makhani, chicken curry and Lamb Biryani. Paneer Saagwala (spinach cottage cheese curry) is fantastic. I would love to try their Goat curry too. Verdict: one of the best Indian restaurants in Hobart.

Home away from home. The chilly indicator do mean something and what a delicious Mint chicken indeed. The naan bread were perfectly cooked and soft. If you are out on a date or say visiting Hobart and want some good quality indian food then I would definitely recommend this place. Customer service is excellent too.

Awesome service and food. We celebrated our anniversary dinner and on special request of my wife they surprised me with complimentary song and happy anniversary written on a plate with chocolate sauce and Gulab Jamuns. It was really memorable. Would recommend to visit this place at least once. :)

After googling best Indian restaurants in Hobart, this place was one of the restaurants that was recommended. My partner ordered the beef vindaloo. He liked his dish but would have preferred fresh chillies, not powered. I ordered the prawn Punjab masala. My dish was spicy with a decent amount of prawns. But the size of the dish appeared small for the price. We also ordered the plain Naan, garlic naan and cheese and garlic naan. The cheese and garlic and the garlic naan definitely needed more garlic, as you could barely taste it. Other than that it was good.

We had matar paneer and karahi chicken. Looks weren’t bad but the taste wasn’t good. Both had too much tomato paste in them and tasted like tomato paste. Naans were raw and tasted bad as were undercooked.

The saffron Indian restaurant is one of the best tassie Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Personally, I loved their Fish and chicken tikka and the gin section 44 made the meal great. The restaurant is in the city making it very convenient for city residents and tourists.

The Saffron Waterfront Restaurant is easy to reach from the CBD and the food is reasonably priced. We are vegetarian so we chose the Coconut Curry and Chana Masala. Both dishes were delicious and the spice level was perfect.

Yelp
Dropped in for a quick meal. Very accomodating. Wine was very reasonable and the food excellent. We ordered the traditional meals and service was very quick. Very tasty and the vindaloo was "hot". Will get my patronage again next time I am looking for Indian.

Yelp
Great taste and good options for Indian food but is on the expensive side. To give perspective vegetable biryani was prepared as per my request for spicy food and I could see a lot of quality ingredients in the dish. Personally felt that this is the best taste I could get from an indian restaurant in Hobart. Portion was medium sized but even raita which comes stock standard everywhere with Biryani had to be ordered separately. It was good but not $20 good.

Yelp
Great Indian food, and I've been to India half a dozen times. Whilst the restaurant is near the water, there is no real view so don't be disappointed when you read the name. I'd come back. Qantas frequent flyer points (3 points per dollar) were credited with no questions asked which is better than many restaurants on the QFF program.

Yelp
Dined in at The Saffron tonight and had a very poor experience when it came time to pay: "Papadums" offered as entree, turned out to be a "Side Dish Platter" and was very over priced. Itemised as two separate items on receipt totalling $10.90 for the plate and $3.50 for the papadums. Quite a surprise for 5 papadums and some sauce. Looked at other reviews afterwards which showed other people being deceived the same way. Prices higher on menu than listed online Rice an extra charge on top of an already highly priced main Initially refused Entertainment Book voucher upon paying due to it being a "Public Holiday", after we pointed out the Entertainment Book terms stating that all offers are valid for use all days of the year in Hobart, and after some sneaky arguing and an offer to "use it next time" by the cashier, he backtracked and offered to apply the discount. He still charged a previously undisclosed Public Holiday surcharge of $8.82 on a Saturday despite the Public Holiday not being until Monday. Public Holidays don't fall on the weekend! What started out as great service turned to great disappointment. Even with acceptance of the Entertainment Book voucher the total of the bill came to $67.02 for 2 mains, 2 naans, "papadums" and 2 drinks. Visiting many Indian restaurants in Hobart, not one other has cost more than $50 full price for the same meals and food/service quality. Should have listened to prior reviews for The Saffron, will not return. Give this place a miss and do yourself a favour, check out Tandoor Curry House in Harrington St instead. Never once dissatisfied there. Never once have we had to bother writing a poor review for feeling so ripped off either.

Yelp
Great vegetarian choices with about 6 without cheese so gotta be happy with a vegan choice. Chickpeas were great, veggie masala not as hot as I like. Service a tad slow but a busy night. A welcome change along the seafood strip.

Yelp
Very good and interesting Indian food. Good friendly and prompt service. A very pleasant dinning experience.

Yelp
I got takeaway from Saffron and it was fantastic!! Had the vindaloo which was spicy as it should be but also extremely flavoursome!!! Not the most happening place in town and the staff aren't the most comfortable in the customer service industry but the food is great :D
