The Sagaponack Hotel Review

"Once the Wainscott Inn, a $4 million renovation reimagined the property as a 30-room boutique that pairs classic cedar-shingled Hamptons exteriors with a contemporary, coastal palette of layered textures and deep greens. Rooms are grouped into Main Inn rooms and suites with polished-brass fixtures and bespoke furnishings, Studio Rooms with wet bars and private patios ideal for couples, and spacious Bungalows with kitchenettes and outdoor living—each promising notably comfortable beds. There’s no full restaurant, but two well-stocked galleys (one poolside, one in the Main Inn) provide complimentary snacks, Nespresso, and curated picnic-to-go bites, while service and touches like turndown make the stay feel like crashing at a stylish friend’s summer house. Amenities focus on relaxed, elevated fun: a heated saltwater plunge pool, lawn games (croquet, giant Jenga, chess), weekly poolside movies, yoga and meditation classes, complimentary vintage and electric bikes, and especially beach passes plus a Beach Locker stocked with chairs, umbrellas, toys, and coolers. Set across seven leafy acres on Montauk Highway between East Hampton and Bridgehampton, the hotel delivers understated Hamptons luxury with a coastal-cool edge, summer midweek rates starting around $599, and easy access to Gibson Beach, Wölffer Estate, Loaves & Fishes, Pike Farms, and nearby bakeries and general stores."

This was a perfect stay in a cute cottage. It was super clean, with a comfortable bed, and a good shower. The room was quiet and everyone on staff was lovely. Sara was especially helpful and very sweet. The location was excellent - close to beautiful beaches and great restaurants. The swimming pool was a nice place to cool off in middle of July. We had everything we needed - snacks, coffee, a light breakfast. We stayed a few days to escape the city and spend time at the beach. We loved it!

The hotel looks quaint on the outside I only stayed one night thank goodness . But beware The rooms are not cleaned well There was dirt on the floor when I checked in , and the safe didn't work I was told by the manager Sarah " oh well I'm sorry " And stated that the room was clean. Obviously she didn't care that the safe was broken I asked to move rooms and she said " we are all sold out " But that was incorrect . When I was leaving to check out , I met another guest , that stated her AC was noisy , and she wanted to move rooms ( she said " this hotel sucks " Apparently there was a room available and Sarah had lied . Oscar whom I met whilst checking out , was very nice , and he apologized to me . So if people still want to stay there , I would deal with Oscar .. in conclusion , this hotel is not inexpensive , so this was definitely a rip off. In conclusion , I would not advise to stay there , unless you were desparate .

Great location. Stylish remodel of motel. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Positives: great location, fair price, clean fresh linens, comfortable beds. Negatives: skylight that made it impossible to sleep in, no staff on sight after 6, No response when calling lobby after hours, Remodel skipped some corners/details.

I had a wonderful experience here. From check-in, the staff was warm and welcoming, making the process quick and easy. The room was clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The hotel’s location was perfect, close the beach and two big towns making it easy to explore the area. What really stood out was the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful, going out of their way to ensure I had a great stay. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend The Sagaponack to anyone visiting the area.

This hotel is the GEM of the Hamptons. I love that it was only a few minutes drive to the ocean and Wolfer estate vineyard. Going to dinner in Sag harbor was easy only a ten minute drive. The bungalows are absolutely beautiful. The dogs had a blast. Such a beautiful place to spend time with your pets. The staff Sara and Oscar could not have been more amazing. They went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was wonderful. We will be back!!

Comfortable rooms, a little loud due to proximity to other guests. Good location close to wineries (you can walk to the wine stand) and close to beaches. Pool seemed nice but weather wasn’t warm enough to use. Hotel provides beach passes which is a great amenity!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this hotel and it was quite pleasant. Been busy so haven't been able to review till now. Staff was really friendly. and rooms were clean which is really important to me. It's a very quiet and serene place to unwind. I'm never really at the hotel because I like to explore the city but this place was really nice!

Yelp
Poor customer service. Visiting NYC on a biz trip with one day of meetings in the Hamptons. I thought my water broke prematurely & had to go to the hospital in NYC to ensure everything was okay. As a result, I cancelled 24 hours in advance, which triggered a 50% cancellation fee. I followed up the next day to see if perhaps they could make an exception with the fee & the answer was no. I spoke directly to the manager, Patty Snow, who let me know that they have a 14 day cancellation policy & no exceptions. I understand they are a business, but there was no consideration. This was not done in high season - plenty of rooms were available.

Yelp
Dang - motels in the Hamptons is pricey, yo! Coming up to East Hampton for a girls getaway trip, just about everything around was booked up weeks out. Fortunately, we scored a room at the relatively well-located Wainscott Inn with two full beds. Unfortunately, on a weekend in August said room runs $300/night ... with a three night minimum. The main house is separate from the single story sets of rooms. Our pricey lil abode was miniature and cramped with a bathroom no bigger than a closet with a meager set of cheap shampoo/conditioner. I avoided touching the gnarly flammable bed covers as much as possible, though the beds themselves are pretty cozy. Since they offer seasonal rentals, the microwave and fridge make sense and add convenience. We opted for beach over swimming pool, but their set up is pretty decent, bare bones but squeaky clean. My favorite part of our stay was definitely the complimentary continental breakfast every day till 11am. Coffee, juices, muffins and a whole fabulous array of fruit served in a comfy main house living room with a large screen TV. The price you pay for relaxation!

Yelp
Our family booked two cottages, and like most of the other guests on the weekend of September 24 to 26, 2021, we were in town for a wedding. By our first evening, the gruff and rude manager was the big story. When I asked him for another set of towels, he snarled that the cottage--with a queen sized bed and two twins--was not meant for three adults. But even if there had been children, he apparently didn't think they deserved towels. And no towel set was complete. First day there were no wash clothes. Second day there were no hand towels. When we had to request more toilet paper and some cups, the same manager greeted us by saying, "Whaddya want?" followed by, "What now?" When another guest, checking in, asked about food (the Inn having suspended that service during the panemic), the manager sneered, "Go a block up the road and pay $1,500 for the room. That's One, Five, Zero, Zero. They'll give you food." As for the cottage, the first time someone used the toilet, the handle broke off. The shower stall was the size of a person with no elbow room. Someone obese would be hard-pressed to fit in. And nowhere in the hotel were there amenities (like shower bars) for people with disabilities. One cottage had a full-size refrigerator with freezer (but no ice tray) and the other had something belonging in a college room. The best part of our stay was a walk along the beach...but be aware that during the high season (April 15 to September 15?) no parking is allowed if you don't have a permit.

Yelp
The Wainscott Inn is the best kept secret in the Hampton's. In season, which is when we visited, the price per night is beyond fair. Conveniently located to East Hampton, Bridgehampton and Southampton. Jim and Steve whom are the Owner/Partners are the BEST!!! Beyond accomodating and helpful. Open with great suggestions for dining and other activities. We stayed in a cottage and it was perfect. first and foremost very clean. A cozy room with a kitchen counter of a sink, fridge and microwave. The bathrooms have a pedestel sink and stand up shower with great water pressure. So many hotel showers have horrible water pressure. Also, plenty of hot water. The hotel has an outside pool that is wonderful. Clean area, outside shower, lounge chairs and tables. Water temp was perfect. Weekends there is a Continental Breakfast and daily there are muffins, fruit and coffee in the front lobby. You will not go wrong with The Wainscott Inn. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The ONLY positive aspect of the Wainscott Inn is its location. The rest is 100% negative starting with the bathroom.I don't recall a bathroom as bad as this one, even after numerous trips to Europe. It is not only tiny, but the worst shower you can have.No shower cap,i had to call to request one.The weekend breakfast is awful : bagels were not fresh at all.No service AT ALL,not even to check the pitiful buffet. Even the WIFI wasn't working. Do NOT stay there.I will never come back again ! It doesn't even deserve 1 star.

Yelp
I was working in the Hamptons with a few other people. We stayed here and the room we were given was INFESTED WITH LARGE ANTS on both the walls and floor. They claimed they had wi-fi but from our room we could not access it because the signal was too poor. We also did not have cell phone reception. We got all these amenities for only $250/night ! We told a person at the front desk about the ants and we were told "There's nothing we can do." Clearly, this is all ridiculous and I don't recommend this place.

Yelp
Do not stay here! It's an ok place to stay, but the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Checked out today (over an hour before checkout time) and wanted to lay by the pool for an hour or so before going back into the city. Was literally yelled at and chased out by the manager because we were told that since we checked out we had to leave immediately. Will never come back here again.

Yelp
Thoroughly annoyed because when I booked the room live, I asked the reservationist about their cancellation policy and was not informed of the $100 cancellation fee! Found out when I needed to cancel and they guy on the phone gave me a devil may care attitude. Lost $100, it's in the fine print. Can't tell you about the rooms but feel like they have a little scam going with the fees.

Yelp
Great location in the Hamptons, given convenience to multiple places. However, the service is poor, so don't expect much.

Yelp
Sorry, but this place is a huge disappointment. The owners are really nice but you can tell they haven't put money into the hotel since the 80's. For a place charging $300.00 a night you would expect to at least be able to get on the Internet or make a phone call. Good luck. Horrible wifi(slower than dial up)and cell phone service is non existent. The rooms are pretty depressing, and there is no ambiance or style. The comforter on the bed is itchy, flammable polyester and the indoor/outdoor carpet is gross. Well hopefully a nice shower to relax in after a day at the beach right? Wrong. A heavy beige hospital shower curtain reveals a cramped plastic shower with a shower head that sprays a sharp, painful, hissing stream of water at you. Time for bed and nothing like falling asleep to the sound of cars whizzing by on the freeway. A nice touch is the paper band around the toilet indicating that it has been clean and sanitized. Too bad mine had dried urine and pubic hairs on the rim. The pool is okay, but it's just a pool. Nothing special. All in all this place is a joke. It could be really nice with some smart design, new furniture and some updated fixtures, linens, paint, etc. Obviously that's not on the owners list of priorities. Sorry Wainscott Inn. You blew it.
