"Situated in the quiet Newington suburb about a five-minute drive from the Royal Mile, this boutique townhouse hotel is a stylish four-star choice for travelers wanting a quieter stay away from the main tourist area. The rooms retain original Georgian features (some even have four-poster beds); the décor is a little dated but the rooms feel spacious and airy and the bathrooms are large and well-maintained. There’s a simple breakfast buffet each morning, the staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome, and parking is available if you have a vehicle." - Matthew Kepnes
The staff at this hotel were amazing. Polite, professional and so kind and helpful. I felt like the whole team really cared that all my needs were catered for. In particular, Aurora, Wahida and David had exceptional service skills. My room could not have been better. The bed and pillows were super comfy. I loved the traditional window shutters which kept out the artic temperature outside. I would recommend this hotel to everyone wanting a great value hotel in an ideal location- quiet but near to town and Hollywood Park. I was really sad to leave. No

My husband and I stayed two nights at this handsome old manor house at the beginning and end of our Scotland trip. Our room--which looked out on the back garden--was very spacious, clean, and quiet, and the bed felt extremely comfortable. The staff were super friendly, and we enjoyed a great continental breakfast each morning. The hotel was some distance from the train station and tourist area (walking distance, that is), but it was also much more peaceful there!

We needed a place to stay for one night in the Newington area of Edinburgh and ended up in The Salisbury Hotel. Basically a townhouse with nice comfortable rooms. The rooms are very well equipped and quiet. A great place to stay and that with free parking. Well worth coming back to.

The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
The hotel was rated four star but the rooms were scruffy and tired.
The breakfast was really nice.
The location was good it took around 20 minutes to walk to the center .
If the rooms were clean and tidy and checked over
It would be a 5 star rating

Very helpful staff at reception. Attentive to our needs. Excellent area to stay with plenty of eating places and supermarkets in area. Warm rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast is available but is a limited buffet style with lovely staff. Car parking available. Excellent value for money

Lovely hotel with great amenities, it was all clean and lovely, but the staff make it just incredible - from start to finish they could not do any more for us and went out of their way to help. Very friendly, helpful and just generally amazing. Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

The room was quiet and the bed comfortable, so we managed to sleep OK after 2 days at The Fringe. We were also able to park our vehicle for the duration at no additional cost. The room was quite small but that wasn't an issue for us and it had a working television and good, free internet connection. So quite a few boxes ticked. |There were tea and coffee making facilities along with complimentary biscuits and wine that you could purchase in a "minibar" arrangement. Unfortunately, the wine glasses in the room were shockingly dirty and we returned them to the front desk for replacements. Breakfast was OK but not amazing. Location of the hotel wasn't too bad and about a 10/15 minute walk into the main area for entertainment venues and tickets booking office, a bit further for the Royal Mile. The staff were friendly and I felt they were trying their best to please. I am perhaps being a little generous with a 4 star review but it ticked a lot of boxes and those it didn't tick were not as important to us.

The negative reviews are generally valid points but not of these were issues for us. The limited staff they had were friendly and helpful, so couldn't fault them but if you need to make a latter check in than 8pm that might be a problem. A comfortable and stylish room in a good location. Will stay again
