The Salisbury - YMCA of Hong Kong

"How did it strike you on arrival? If you grew up with a YMCA, the name might make you think of well-used, fluorescent-lit athletic facilities. This is not that kind of YMCA. Skylights flood the three-story wood-paneled entrance with natural light. Inviting armchairs, potted plants, and a communal table made of a single chunk of gleaming wood anchor the Mall Cafe off to one side of the lobby. None of it is what we were expecting. Nice. What’s the crowd like? The many families and older international couples are likely here for the hotel's versatile room types, location, and reputation as Hong Kong’s best value. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The 372 rooms were renovated big-time in 2014. In the compact 180-square-foot single rooms (with a single bed) all the way up to the 530-square-foot Harbour View Suite there is a calming palette of beige, brown, and white. The Harbour View rooms showcase the multimedia Symphony of Lights every night at 8 p.m. and are relatively spacious at 250 square feet. This isn't a five-star luxury hotel, but you will find all the basic services, such as a kettle for tea and coffee, welcome fruit, and daily water. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?In every room except the singles, guests can specify either two single beds or one queen-sized bed. They’re comfortable, if a little stiff, with clean sheets and a pretty bed runner. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? This budget-friendly hotel sits next to the star-studded Peninsula hotel—in other words, a short stroll from the famous afternoon tea. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Neutral-toned bathrooms are spotless but basic, with a shower-tub combo and a granite-topped vanity. Just make sure to hit the switch for hot water before you hop in. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? You can use the free Wi-Fi on up to four devices per person. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The Salisbury is part of a larger sports complex, which means athletic types will have a lots of options—including a six-lane swimming pool, Jacuzzi, indoor rock climbing wall, squash courts, dance studio, and sauna. Guests are invited to use the large washing machines on the ninth floor, which are operated via tokens (collected from reception). Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner (and weekend afternoon tea), the Salisbury Dining Room provides harbor views and generous buffet spreads. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?We were pleased with the great value at the Salisbury and loved the views. We’d also recommend this hotel to the sporty—an indoor climbing wall is not a typical amenity. Our only hang up was communication with the staff. At times it was difficult to find a staff member who spoke fluent English, though senior staff and the concierge were very helpful. Bottom line: worth it, and why? With easy access to the Star Ferry, metro, and cruise terminal, The Salisbury offers an affordable and comfortable stay in the center of Hong Kong’s main arteries." - Kate Springer

As a Christian i felt at home from the minute i entered the hotel, greeted by a soothing blast of cool fresh air from the conditioning system. One thing that stood out here is that there is no shortage of elevators and you are spared the typical HK elevator mania. The lobby was very nice and cool, so we’re the rooms. Everything was working well with the rooms, the harbor view was pretty prime, amongst the best in views of the harbor in Hong Kong. The bed though was too hard for my liking. The price was very reasonable and the service was great.

Stayed for 4 nights & absolutely loved it. Queen Harbour View Room was amazing. Could sit & watch all the action on the harbour including the Symphony of Lights. Staff so helpful & rooms very clean & larger then expected. We also went with breakfast which was great every morning & went to their Seafood Buffet one night which was superb. Unbelievable easy access to 2 MTR Stations, shops & restaurant's Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in Hong Kong.

We loved the hotel! The location is amazing, cloth to the metro and to several attractions. The room was great on a high floor with a partial view to the harbour.Breakfast was generous and tasty, both western and Chinese. We didn’t feel the hotel׳s renovations at all. The room was very quiet and the shower had good stream of water. We will definitely come back!

I only have good things to say. Very helpful staff, complimentary first day breakfast buffet and beverage. The breakfast buffet is amazing and affordable. The room is comfortable and more spacious than I expected (given that space is a premium in Hong Kong). The location is beyond convenient to the ferry, the subway/metro/MTR, bus, shopping, lots of restaurants around. 100% recommend!!!

I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Salisbury- YMCA Hotel in Hong Kong. Ms. Ceci at my checking in & Mr. Anthony at checking out are both very gracious, polite, & very helpful. |My partial harbour view room is spacious enough, very clean, & comfortable. The water filter machine in the room, the small fridge are good for everyday use. The breakfast buffet has a good variety of Asian & Western food offerings. The items are fresh & delicious. The hotel has a self- laundry facility which is very helpful for long stay. The hotel is in an excellent location in Kowloon right across to the renowned Peninsula Hotel. It is very near the MTR station, and very walkable to many restaurants, eateries, malls, shops, and a supermarket at the basement of I-Square which is 6 minute walk. I very much recommend the Salisbury YMCA Hotel. BTW, it has a very nice art shop at the lobby level called the Dooor: a very cute art shop that sells beautiful handicrafts & local Hong Kong artisan made items managed by very friendly & helpful staffs, among whom is Kawa & his very friendly colleagues — all of whom I enjoy meeting & having very good conversations. I will return to stay at this very good hotel.

I’ve stayed here for almost a week ; Great location, clean rooms , staff not so friendly with no English fluency, the breakfast is not that great as it doesn’t have much choices and not really accommodating vegetarian requirements. I’ve tried asking the cook on the omelette station to clean or use a fresh pan instead of the one used with pork.. he didn’t bother or maybe didn’t understand my request.|Moreover, I don’t expect room service after 9:30 pm, house keeping is only done every three days. The corridor smelled like durian for almost a week…. I could have stayed in another hotel, but due to the online reviews on how this hotel is kids and family friendly I decided to stay here.. which was not the case with me.

The staff here are really nice, like really nice. Super friendly and always ready to help, which made the stay feel even better. The room was clean, spacious, and surprisingly comfy. The location is honestly perfect, right next to the elevators that take you straight into Tsim Sha Tsui station, and just a short walk to Harbour City. It’s also super close to the skyline and light show, which was amazing. We could actually see the light show right from our room, which was such a cool surprise. Great view, great price, can’t ask for much more. Also, if you’re ever craving something quick, McDonald’s and Jollibee are only about a 5–7 minute walk away. Super convenient. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. Although it's raining, but hotel does provide free raincoats. Location is near to restaurants, new K11 mall, convenient marts, the famous 重庆大厦, 星光大道 and the million dollars views of the harbour. The hotel restaurant food is amazing. Vegetables & fruits are fresh.
