The Sandhya (Ahangama, South-West Coast) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Standing out from the traditional guesthouses and villas on Sri Lanka’s idyllic Kabalana Beach, the Sandhya is a modern boutique hotel that’s sleek but understated. The two-story structure, lined with floor-to-ceiling glass revealing magnificent views of the Indian Ocean, is the passion project of its Singaporean owner, who aimed to build the ideal beach house for design-conscious travelers. With stylish mid-century modern interiors, a gorgeous lobby lounge, and a swimming pool crafted out of a repurposed shipping container, his mission was well accomplished." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed here for the first 3 nights of our trip. Absolutely loved the hotel and the location. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food and drink was good. The beers could have been slightly colder though. The bedrooms were extremely nice and comfortable. It is a very small adults only hotel with just 8 rooms I believe, finished to a very high standard. The pool area is exceptionally comfortable with very easy access to an amazing beach area. We absolutely loved this hotel and Ahangama beach.

I brought my family to this hotel as it’s one of my favourite spots on the south coast and I have stayed here several times since it opened. We had taken a sea-plane flight from Kandy and needed a place to chill out and eat after a very early start. The staff could not have been any friendlier and attentive despite us not staying overnight in the hotel. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and the management even treated us to a wonderful complimentary bottle of champagne as they heard it was a very special occasion. My brother in law enjoyed it so much he is insisting we book to come and stay for some days next year so I can’t wait for that.

We visited with friends who had stayed previously for a few nights whilst travelling around the island. On this occasion we made it our base and stayed 10 nights. The hotel had had a refurb since our friends stayed with a much larger pool being installed and a beautiful terrace and lawn area in front of the beach. ||All the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is decorated in a clean minimalistic style with quality furniture and linens. Our room was spacious and well set out, leading directly onto the swimming pool. Large bathroom with double shower enclosure, separate toilet and large sink and vanity area. I particularly loved the lightweight cotton robes and wish I had been able to purchase one! The usual towelling hotel robes are always way too thick and bulky for me so these were perfect. ||The breakfast was wonderful. A selection of fresh fruit and fresh juice followed by toast and a choice from the menu of eggs or pancakes plus tea and coffee served free of charge until lunchtime. ||We had a couple of lunches which were again very good quality but the highlight for us was the chef’s curry banquet which we pre ordered and was the best we had throughout our stay. Such a wonderful selection of dishes, all incredibly tasty and the curry was cooked to personal taste in terms of spiciness.||We sat and watched the sunset most nights and the view out over the beach was stunning. The beach itself is large with beautiful soft sand and is a surfing beach and as such the waves are quite big so as a weak swimmer I wasn’t brave enough to go in further than my thighs as some of the breakers are quite fierce. However the sea is lovely and warm. Having the fantastic pool to use means not having to brace the waves!||The sunbeds around the pool are exceptionally comfortable and complimentary beach towels are provided. ||All in all a fabulous stay and somewhere I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for a bit of understated luxury in a beautiful location. We loved the fact there were only 9 rooms and the service was very personalised.

The Sandhya Hotel in Sri Lanka is absolutely amazing with its breathtaking views, luxurious rooms, and beautiful tropical surroundings. The property itself is a paradise haven that perfectly captures the island's natural beauty. However, the quality of customer service is a little poor. Despite the wonderful setting, service delays and unresolved requests detracted from what could have been a perfect experience. A stunning property that unfortunately needs improvement on the service side.

Such a great experience in Kabalana! I wish to stay more! I find that everything is made to feel you comfortable. The bed and pillows are fantastic comfy, beach towels are super soft, the lighting is thoughtful, nice toiletries. There is an evening cleaning service which is a great practice of 5 star hotels. Yes, there are some in-house rules but it’s not a big deal if you have minimum respectful attitude to other guests and the property. I feel the owner of the hotel is really care of the place keeping everything in a good condition.

This stunning hotel is THE place to stay on the south coast of Sri Lanka - it has perfect beach setting and is an easy walk into Ahangama for more cafes, restaurants etc. |The design of this hotel is unique and we loved the spacious feel to the rooms and communal areas. The pool area is stunning. ||Breakfast was a treat every day - the banana roti pancakes were delicious. Lots of fruit and yummy homemade jams. All the staff were super friendly. ||Highly recommend this hotel to stay for your Sri Lankan beach break, you won't be disappointed.

Friendly and nice staff making your stay very comfortable. Room is good. Service is good. Food is good. ||The pool is above 30 m and clean. Very near the beach with easy access. ||Quiet place. ||One big minus: the classic brownie with a very good mousse is hard to not order every day.

Small botique hotell only a few rooms. Service and food very good. Rooms were spacious and cleaned frequently during the days. Held a very high class i would say compared to all sourronding hotel. The price is a bit higher, but its secluded and plenty of places to explore around. The beach is also 10/10 just outside.
