The Santa Maria, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort, Panama City

Top notch in every way. Lovely greeting at check in, room was big and clean. Pool was huge with fun games and floats and great service with people checking in to take drink or food orders, throw a frisbee or offer free ice cream by the pool! The tall ceilings and wide hallways made the place feel super grand. The breakfast buffet was huge with plenty of options and omelette station. The fish tacos at their restaurant for lunch were the best I’ve had. Overall a fantastic stay for just one night! Would definitely return and recommend for anyone seeking a classy, friendly resort in Panama.

The Santa Maria hotel is beautiful! We stay at this hotel for 5 nights. As soon as you walk into the lobby, you will see a beautiful flower display. The hotel, restaurants, rooms and pool areas were clean. The employees are genuinely kind and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. By day 2 of our stay, most of the staff recognized us and remembered our drinks from the prior day. There are plenty of chairs, day beds and cabanas by the pool. Most importantly, you do not have to pay extra for the cabana or day beds. The breakfast buffet was definitely a favorite. There are more than enough options. The hotel also offers music such as a band or a DJ every night from 7:00-9:00pm. There is also a lunch brunch on Sundays that you have the option of attending. The hotel is also close to Panama City with only a 15 minute drive. The employees at the hotel also offered to help you find tours, and a booklet for looking at the options. The golf course was usually busy, but in the mornings had a lower attendance. The Santa Maria hotel was a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

What a wonderful oasis outside the high rises and noise of the city. Lovely property and customer service to match. The breakfast buffet is wonderful and the fish tacos I had in the evening were some of the best ever. Smiles and helpful staff at every turn.

Incredible experience. The service and rooms were excellent and I really enjoyed the morning round of golf at the resort. We especially thought highly of Yela, our waitress at the restaurant, she was extremely thoughtful and really made our dining experience fantastic. You should promote her. I hope that the resort can continue to maintain its high reputation and we hope to come back very soon.

Being a lifetime platinum Marriott member we always stay in the Marriott brands. Little did we expect to find such a hidden jewel in Panama City. The rooms were exceptionally large, comfortable and elegant. What was really outstanding though, was the staff. I must say in all our years of travel this may have been the best that we have experienced. The front desk crew, Sara, Lourdes and the guys were phenomenal. I could go on and on, but I am sure if you stay there you will have the same experience. Thanks to all for the incredible stay.

Our stay at Santa Maria Luxury Hotel was absolutely fantastic! The rooms were impeccably clean, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating specially Lourdes and Kevin from the front desk, the location was perfect for exploring the city and only 10 minutes from the International Airport.We were very impressed with the attention to detail, from the lovely decor to the thoughtful amenities. The Santa Maria Luxury Hotel will always be my favorite hotel in Panama

Amazing hotel and amazing stay. I stayed in 3 hotels during my vacation in Panama all supposedly 5 star hotels. This was by far the nicest and the staff here go out of their way to help u! I came here with my child and the first time arriving the bellhop inquired on how to open his carriage to be able to open it from then on. Wud definitely recommend and return.

I gave 3 stars to this hotel and I think that was gracious. From the start of checkin, I should have known. |We waited for our rooms which was fine because we went to get lunch. We arrived at 2:25pm. Rooms should have been available at 3. They were not. |We were told they would come get us at the pool restaurant when our rooms were ready. No one ever came. Fast forward to 4:15 when we finally (yes lunch was almost 2 hours) finished and walked to the lobby. Had to ask and yes rooms were ready. |That evening we went to the restaurant near the front of hotel. The food was disgusting!! No other word for it. We were a party of 6, two of us had a very simple bolognese dish, it was awful. You couldn’t eat it. It tasted like metal or something. A simple dish was so horrible. Others had chicken, so dry you couldn’t eat it, lamb the same as was the salmon. I can understand one dish maybe not great, but everyone? No!!|This hotel isn’t close to anything so you can’t walk to choices like in Casco Viejo|There is a major language barrier. Understandably we are in a Spanish speaking country, however a “5 star hotel” should have some employees with basic English. We used a translator app most of the time which was fine. |We did eat at the steak and fish restaurant which was spectacular!! Food and service perfect. |I’ve stayed all over the world in three star to 5 star etc. this was not a 5 star. The beds were comfortable, showers good, food everywhere except the steak and fish restaurant leave something to be desired. Again, there were 6 of us, we all had the same complaints. We wanted to love it here but just did not. We all wished we stayed in Casco Viejo for the entire trip.
