I had a phenomenal experience at this hotel. The customer service was 10/10. The room was great. Tony and Jersey were great at the bar. Wink wink is a solid restaurant with good food that catered to my allergies. Brittany made me feel like I was home away from home. They had a shuttle that took me to the beach when I wanted. I am 100 percent recommending this to anyone who visits Sarasota.

I’m not usually someone who leaves reviews, but I’m so happy with this experience that I had to take the time to write one. My pregnant wife and I stayed at this hotel, and although we had a bit of trouble with our room initially, the way the staff handled everything was simply fabulous.Britney, was perfect in resolving the issue and making us feel truly cared for. They even treated us to breakfast, which completely turned my wife’s mood around. Even the valet service was amazing. I’m typically not a fan of using valet, but the team made me feel like I was part of something special and that my car was in good hands. Overall, they showed us they were there for us every step of the way, and it turned into a wonderful stay.

We stayed at The Modern hotel in Sarasota from August 11–13, 2025, to celebrate our anniversary. We chose this hotel because it was described as a boutique-style couples’ hotel in the city, which seemed perfect for a special occasion. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The first morning, we discovered mold on the walls and in the shower, along with dirty furniture. Even the main door didn’t close properly because of the mold (Room #309). When reporting this to the front desk, we noticed mold on the hallway ceiling and the chairs near the elevators; signs that the issue extended throughout the building. The manager, Jonathan, did apologize and moved us to a suite for the rest of our stay, which was in better condition, though we barely got to enjoy it. Sadly, the pool area was also dirty and poorly maintained, making it difficult to enjoy. The only positive aspect of this hotel was the staff. The valet team, restaurant servers, and pool bar staff were all kind and helpful. It’s a shame that such a good location and attentive staff are overshadowed by poor upkeep and serious hygiene concerns. Given the widespread mold and lack of maintenance, I cannot recommend this hotel. What should be a 4-star property is, in reality, closer to 1 star. My wife even experienced an allergic reaction due to the mold. Unless this hotel undergoes major renovations, we will not be returning. Photos attached for reference.

My husband and I stayed there July 20, 2025. It was our first time there and we were able to upgrade to a junior suite which was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We're local to the Sarasota area and just stayed one night to get out of the house. The pools were very clean and the area was comfortable...plenty of umbrellas to escape from the sun. Lively outdoor bar. We also dined inside at Wink, Wink and sat at the bar. We were served by Lexi during the day and Mike in the evening. Both were excellent bartenders and made us feel very comfortable. Service and drinks were great. I would highly suggest this property, as its and easy walk to downtown Sarasota and also to walk over the Ringling Bridge for some excercise.

This hotel is fantastic. The pool is phenomenal and the activities for kids are great. I loved having the cold plunge after being on my feet walking around in the hot Florida sun. The outdoor bar is great with wonderful options and the restaurant too. My only complaint would be with the coffee maker in the room - it didn’t work, but it didn’t matter because there was coffee in the lobby. My daughter loved being able to get a drumstick upon check-in and the music played on the record player in the lobby. She also loved the cookies set out in the afternoon. This will be our go to spot when we come to Sarasota!

Overall:||10/10. And yeah, no one paid me to write this. They should, though…||Background about this review:||Just a(n) honest review from a traveler who has been around a bit. This is my 4th visit here over the past 5ish years. 700 nights with Marriott and a couple hundred with another brand. 😃||The property:||I think it’s about 90 rooms on 5 floors. It is a boutique - in a good way. The ground floor has some cool walk to the pool rooms; 4th and 5th have nice suites with tubs on balconies plus some lovely Rosemary suites. I am not sure about 2nd and 3rd.||The Pool area:||It’s lovely. 3 bodies of water: (1) large and well heated pool with plenty of seating around it; (2) a cold plunge pool and (3) a very large hot tub. There is a pool side bar with food and drink. Hours are “limited” in the summer but Will is awesome.||Wink Wink-||Medium sized bar and restaurant inside. The breakfast is solid. Never really had lunch. Dinner is a small menu but quite decent. Daniel was great during brekkie, and Toni was quite tolerant of us during dinner. 😊||The awesome Staff:||I specifically want to thank, in no particular order: Daniel, Toni, Will, and of course, last but certainly not least Marrissa. All were exceptional! I also know I’m missing two other staff members who checked us in and provided beach gear!||Our stay:||We visited during a late summer weekend. Checkin was a breeze, and staff happily and quickly brought us more bedding, pillows, a package and glassware.||A phenomenal clean, spacious suite with SRQ and pool view. Excellent location in close proximity to food and drink.||Other details:|Ice on all floors but 5. Beach gear provided for free at desk. Elite perk is free brekkie.

We really enjoyed this hotel. We brought our dog and they accommodated him as best they could. No onsite potty places but just a quick walk down the sidewalk worked. Everyone very friendly and great location. The pool area is really nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Wink Wink. The devilish eggs and crab cakes were my favorite. It’s a boutique hotel not a resort. I guess that’s where some of the negative reviews come from. You can’t expect resort experience but it’s a great hotel and not at resort prices. We would definitely go back.

An amazing hotel and an amazing stay. I don't usually write reviews but this hotel was just fantastic! I am so happy I chose to stay more inland. The location was central and lively the room was spacious and clean and the staff were phenomenal. Jeffery Regalado was particularly helpful and accommodating. I had an issue with my car and he went out of his way to get it working with me, and then proceeded to get me and my wife drinks to brighten our day. That's just the kind of place this is. If you need somewhere to stay come here!
