Such a beautifully decorated hotel for Christmas. Kaitlyn, Brittney, and Toni are just lovely, super friendly and helpful. It's pet friendly with a dog bowl and bed waiting at check-in. It had a hot tub, pool, and a plunge pool on those extremely hot days. Highly recommend this hotel, the team makes the experience top notch.

The hotel itself was clean and nice. However, the staff and overall inconvenience of almost every reason you would have a corporate event at a hotel outweighs the decent rooms and location. There are plenty of other hotels in the area that fit this minimum standard and which I would recommend for future stays. My team and I will never return to this one. First, they apparently recently removed all coffee pots from individual rooms - which is fine if you plan to be able to accommodate every single guest via downstairs coffee. However, there was only ever one brewed pot and it hardly was ever still either warm or had any coffee left by 7am. Additionally, they have a bar on site (as do most all Hotels). However, this one behaves as if it’s an exclusive club. My company hosted our 11 employees at this hotel and two nights in a row, the GenZ at the “check in” would not allow me entrance two nights in a row, claiming the bar was full. We had formal reservations for our large group for the last night and ended up canceling it due to the outright rude behavior from staff. The first night I was denied entrance, my staff actually came out to get me and advised the young lady at the front that only 10 people were in the entire bar (she admitted this and let me in after much back and forth). I later spoke with the catering lady (Kathy- the only pleasant employee at this hotel), who advised they are supposed to let in folks as long as they agree it’s “standing room”. The next night, before dinner, I headed down to have a drink with my entire team prior to our dinner and was rudely denied entrance yet again. My team, half of who on were inside, came out to AGAIN advise this person that the bar was lot even half full. Didn’t matter. I was denied entrance into a half empty “meh” bar, which was located IN the hotel we had rented 11 rooms and a board room for two days. The girl was dismissive and insulting. I commented that we would just cancel our 8pm reservation given how I was treated both nights. She smiled sweetly and said “great! What’s your name!” Needless to say, we will never stay there again and, I recommend, if you expect normal conveniences associated with even half-decent hotels, as well as pleasant and professional staff, DO NOT STAY HERE.

The tall black lady at the front desk was very rude with a bad attitude. I walked in and politely asked if there's a valet since no one was outside after we waited about 5 mins while my car was parked at the side of the street (hotel has no self parking). She told me she just saw him out there "literally one minute ago", just go outside and wait for him. I was like, okay... about 5 more mins after I got back in the car, he came up. Back at the front desk, I requested a quiet room since my wife is a light sleeper, she gave us a room that's literally right next to the elevator, like on the same side and literally 4 feet away. We ended up having to go back down to her and ask to change to another room. She said that's a very quiet room, the insulation is very good (they were not busy that day, there's plenty of room available), after saying no for about 2 more times, she finally changed it for us but with an attitude. The room was fine, but the shower/shampoo dispensers didn't work properly so I had to get out of the shower and request for another bottle... The location is decent and they are pet friendly but if there's another hotel in the area with similar pricing (including a $35 valet and a mandatory $29 "resort" fee), I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. Needless to say I wouldn't go back.

I had a phenomenal experience at this hotel. The customer service was 10/10. The room was great. Tony and Jersey were great at the bar. Wink wink is a solid restaurant with good food that catered to my allergies. Brittany made me feel like I was home away from home. They had a shuttle that took me to the beach when I wanted. I am 100 percent recommending this to anyone who visits Sarasota.

Google
This is a very well designed hotel. The rooms are spacious and the banquet seating made lounging and having places to sit and use for luggage very easy. The bathroom had only a single sink, but it was large for the area, and the shower was excellent no leakage whatsoever with a walk in without a door. Since this is a pool/waterfront-ish hotel, there should be more hooks on the walls for towels, and there were plenty of wall space for them. We had to ask for towels very often, and the number of towels should reflect its location. The room is spacious, the balcony very accessible with large palm trees, providing privacy over the pool area. The beds might need a firmer upgrade or at least have the option for a firm mattress. The pool area was spectacular divided up into three zones among a lap pool, a large, hot tub and cold plunge pool, which was extremely refreshing. Bar service was great and you can get the inventive menu at the pool. It really is a nice location, however, very quiet in the rosemary neighborhood with the arts Café nearby and other shops and restaurants.

Very enjoyable one night stay with incredibly welcoming staff. Jonathan at the front desk went above and beyond with any interaction and opportunity. Rooms were quiet, nice, and felt like a home rather than a basic 4 wall hotel room. They also know how to handle special occasions - just communicate with them ahead of time. As a loyal Bonvoy member, I’m looking forward to returning for another staycation hopefully before the year ends!

Google
My boyfriend and stayed at the Modern to enjoy a romantic weekend in Sarasota. From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff was absolutely horrendous. The women were rude and abrupt. We left our room at 9am and arrived back at 4pm to get ready for dinner only to find that our room still had not been cleaned or towels restocked. When asking for a later checkout, the front desk was incredibly unprofessional. There were bags of waste and dirty towels left in the corner of the hallway for the 48 hours of our stay. Pretty much any staff we encountered was very rude. We will not be returning.

Google
A cute hotel in downtown with friendly and helpful staff. However, even though the rooms are spacious, the lack of windows is a real issue. There’s no fresh air coming in, and the room feels a bit stuffy because of it. It’s a charming place overall, but I really wish the rooms had windows. That’s why I’m giving it 4 stars.

Yelp
I love this cute boutique hotel in Sarasota. I found this chic hotel online and decided to stay while in town for a networking meeting. My room had a beautiful view and was so chic and roomy. I loved the decor and couch and work space but I also loved the cute restaurant, pool and location of this hotel. I plan on booking this again for a romantic getaway and also a mother daughter weekend very soon. Fabulous chic is my favorite type of hotel !

Yelp
This place is absolutely DISGUSTING. I think they may quite literally have bought a condemned Motel 6 and added some fancy lights. I was scared to touch anything, much less sleep in the bed. The floor was filthy - as was the carpet and the sofa. There floor and sofa were COVERED in stains/fluids - and the room clearly had not been vacuumed in ages. There were beers and cherries the fridge when I arrived. It was very clear to be that THE ROOM HAD NOT ACTUALLY BEEN CLEANED IN WEEKS, maybe MONTHS. The only reason I didn't request a different hotel or leave was because my flight had gotten in incredibly late, and while I was checking in another guest that had just checked in back back down to the front desk and reported that the room they had given her was either occupied or had not been cleaned. Absolutely DEPLORABLE place to stay.

Yelp
We had a reservation issue which was dealt with and fixed by the GM Chelsea in a timely and responsive manner. All's good. This is a great hotel both to enjoy overnight or with a day pass.

Yelp
The poolside bar at the Wink Wink was awesome! The bartender, Jersey gave us outstanding service. It was refreshing to see how she enjoyed working there and raved about her job!

Yelp
We came to The Sarasota Modern to celebrate our anniversary and it was pleasant experience. I'm glad we made this trip and stayed at this hotel. The food was rather good and the service was excellent. I ordered a room with a pool side view so I was rather disappointed that we got a room with street view. I spoke to the front desk and unfortunately all other rooms with pool side view were booked. I noticed that they tried to make it work by offering another room with partial pool view but it was smaller than our original room so we decided to stay. However they did make it up by sending Champagne and fruits to our room to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent, they were understanding, friendly and they tried their best to be accommodating. The pool area was beautiful. It is in a good spot to receive direct sunlight, so it doesn't matter the time of day there will also be sunlight to sun bath. There is a cold and hot pool but the hot pool was more like room temperature because it wasn't heated like a hot tub should be. There were also games like ping pong and big Jenga which is entertaining. I was disappointed to find out about the hidden fees when we checked out. Paying an additional $31 for a resort fee even though the hot tub wasn't working as it should and we didn't use the beach chairs. I'm not a fan of hidden fees.

R A.

Yelp
Check your charges! Will rip you off! Prepaid 2nights in advance; Only valet parking @ 37.50 per night plus tax. Incidental card was charged for the room stay AGAIN and applied the 2night parking fee 2x. Room too cold; TV and Thermostat controlled by maintenance; No View; just construction cranes!

John T.

Yelp
Be prepared to be nickled and dimed! And then be charged more after you checked out! So very disappointed. We booked a weeks stay at The Modern. The staff all seemed like they had no clue on anything. I should of know when I was checking in, the front staff was actually texted someone else. I clearly was not her main focus. While during our stay we wanted to go to the beach. there was two days that all the beach equipment (Beach Chairs, Towels and umbrella) was not available to us. This was included in out "Destination Fee" I asked the front desk person to note that we did not receive the equipment therefore why should I pay pr the fee? When We did finally were able to get the beach equipment both the chairs and umbrella was broken. Asked for another set when we got back to the hotel. The next day the umbrella was fine but the chairs were still broken. At check out I reviewed the bill. Even though I was not happy with the stay. I noticed that two days the destination fee was not on the bill. I checked out on March 11th. On March 25th the destination fee was added on to my card. Two weeks later. I would not of even thought to even look on my credit card other than the fact that I was so unhappy with my stay. See that added charge on my card is the reason for this review. I Called the hotel to reconcile this amount $62

Yelp
The Sarasota Modern, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is perfectly named as it is, in design, one of the most contemporarily modern I've seen. From its architecture to its interior decor, ultra-modern in every aspect but stunningly beautiful and unique from its floral wallpapers and alligator ceiling over its bar. The rooms are clean, bright, modern, and comfortable. But I wasn't all that happy with my room. Beloved had reserved a particular room, but when we arrived, we were given another room with nothing but a crap view of the valet parking lot, plus a total interior downgrade. Worse yet, even before we checked in, management deducted the full amount of our stay from his debit card, then took days to reverse it after we split the cost between us. I've never heard of a hotel taking full costs prior to check-in. So, be really careful of these people and take their word for nothing. Modern has a lovely pool with a poolside bar That also serves food, though mostly the type of food you might expect at a bar. I had their Buffalo Wings and must say they were really very good. There is also an indoor restaurant and bar which, though because of staffing was closed for breakfast, has really great food and as for design and décor, a must to see and visit. When at the bar, be sure to look up. There is an alligator on the ceiling.... most unique. While dining in the restaurant I had an excellent steak and my service was superb. Overall, I really liked Modern but because of management screwups with my room, etc., I won't be all that eager to return.

Yelp
During C-19 they furloughed 95% of the staff and unfortunately the housekeeping staff is unable to manage the cleaning of hotel it is downright dirty, water smells of sulfur, pool is so gross it's not even being cleaned. Being a Marriott Bonvoy Member my profile was completely dismissed and I even called the day before to ensure my requests would not be a problem per Kaitlyn they were not. Arrived at 07:30pm Saturday was assigned the complete opposite of what was discussed when I asked Kaitlyn if room 109 faces the street she reassured me it does not well the entire property faces the street I had drunk guests knocking on the window throughout the night, bed has a huge body hole from the amount of people sleeping in that 1 spot room was dirty; glitter in all the drawers, soda on top of the furniture hairs all over the bathroom I was told there was no other rooms PERIOD. Not true after 2 nights of drunken loud thumping music sleepless nights I was moved to another room that is somewhat better. Again they are so poorly understaffed cleaning staff can barely keep up. Had no bathroom amenities floors somewhat clean just happy it's a normal room and quiet. What my biggest problem is why would you 1) oversell the hotel during Covid, 2) sell day passes for the pool during Covid, and not have 3) any control cleaning in place at the pool during Covid? Sarasota Modern, Tribute Portfolio under Marriott Bonvoy this is very DISAPPOINTING

Yelp
The three stars are because The staff are the bright spot in this hotel. And it's new, but perhaps wont look that way for long!! The location is within walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants. But the entire hotel is 'dirty'. It is new and nice in decor and accouterments. But the elevator floor was dirty, the door too. The carpeted hallways need a good vacuum. The room smelled like the last guest, the floor was dirty, the mirror had layers of dust on it and worst of all, the sheet was soiled--we saw this right away. The staff changed the sheet and were kind. In the morning I went to sit in the lobby with a coffee (that they kindly offered near the elevator for early risers) and there was someone slung all over the only couch, sleeping. Dirty hotel, nice location and wonderful staff.

Yelp
The Sarasota Modern is a branch of the iconic Marriot family but, not a direct family member ya know? -- Stayed on property in early fall and was pleased with most of the accommodations. The hotel is centrally located with dynamic views of the city and in close proximity to all the main beaches and attractions within the Keys. The front desk staff was polite and courteous during both the check-in and check-out process, offering tips and insight into everything from parking to food. The hotel decor was charming and captivating, really playing on the tropical theme of the location and the room was a nice size with a great view of the pool. The hotel boasted a nice set of amenities including multiple pools, a hot tub, a gym, a yoga deck (rooftop), a complimentary drink upon check-in, and free bike + beach gear (towels) for daily checkout. My only hesitation in a full five-star review is the quality of cleanliness especially given the price and the pandemic. I found hair on the amenities in the bathroom, including the towels and a few minor stains on the floor. This was disappointing because the hotel wasn't very full so there should've been ample time to properly turn the rooms. Would stay again, but with hesitations in mind.

Yelp
I love the Modern. Been there many times. I live in the area so it's convenient and I love the vibe. Coming from NYC I enjoy the ambience. The bar area is very nice, the pool side bar is amazing. I've been here for DJ parties so what I am saying is I like this place. So why is the food unsatisfactory? I went there this evening- sat at the outside dining area (very nice) but empty. Maybe the crowd comes later - probably not. Both my friend and I were so disappointed in our meal. I barely ate the meatloaf and my friend left half of his burger and the burgers use to be very good. The server was perfect so you got that right. Polite and friendly. She even took the appetizer ( devil eggs) off our bill cause that was terrible, she also offered us desert on the house, we declined. No mood for dessert when the meal was disappointing. Please do better. The menu use to be better and the food was good. What happened?

Yelp
The absolute worst hotel. Booked for 2 nights. This hotel is marketed as a luxury artsy hotel in reality it's a Holiday Inn quality. For the nightly price they can afford some cans of white paint for their walls. I've stayed at JW Marriotts that are half or 1/3 the price and feel so luxurious. Hotel refuses to refund me my money back for the second night so I can actually enjoy MY birthday weekend. There is nothing artsy about this hotel. The pools are lackluster. The price is definitely not worth this trash. 0 stars WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND

Yelp
The location is terrific and allows you to embrace the downtown Sarasota atmosphere. OK the hotel qualifies as modern ... The 'modern look' means simplicity in form and design. Modern architectureis based on abstraction, which is created by clean lines, basic shapes, and forms. Thus, simple, plain, geometric forms, rectangular shapes, and linear elements make the characteristics of modern architecture. (I copied that definition from Wikipedia) The guest rooms themselves are mediocre or a little too minimalist. Sink depth is too shallow, sleeping area has concrete floors, limited countertop space on the bathroom vanity, not enough lighting in the room and not enough towel racks. There is free coffee lobby before 8 AM on weekdays. Could have been the worst tasting coffee I've ever had at a hotel. While I'm criticizing, The front desk did not have any additional shampoo or conditioner At 4 PM on a Sunday memorial day weekend the pool was out of towels, there were no clean towels. That's not acceptable. Additionally a cocktail took more than 20 minutes from the time I ordered it from our server at the pool. On a positive note, the pool vibe is terrific and decor and style is super appealing. You'll love the ping-pong tables on the Astroturf. The physical layout of the common areas is perfect. Maybe even a little bit of Las Vegas poolside partying on the weekend. Overall, this place has "game" but it needs to be the right fit for you. Salute!

Yelp
Really nice hotel! Love the personal check in process and the ladies at the front desk were all amazing and helpful! Really well decorated and clean! Love all the modern wallpaper. Pool area was great - really enjoyed the 3 options and the saltwater pool. My only complaint was that as a guest I had to reserve the cabana via a 3rd party. I understand this for non guests but when I called prior to checking in to ask O was told to book online and no info given.

Yelp
This hotel is a 10 minute walk to Main Street where the restaurants and shops are located. The hotel is new and very modern. The room has many usb and electrical outlets. Our room had an L-shaped couch and a king size bed. There is a small bar area with a fridge and champagne glasses, but no coffee machine. The room had a robe and umbrella in the closet. The bathroom is very large and has a nightlight that comes on when you approach the restroom. The balcony is large and the sliders open wide to it. The TV has netflix and youtube access. The staff is friendly. The restaurant/bar always had people in it. There is indoor and outdoor dining. There is a pool and hot tub. The reason for the missing star is that it is only valet parking. The parking is part of the resort fee. There was only one valet worker so it could take time to get your car. The car was parked behind the hotel in a walled off parking lot. I wish they would have made a self park lot. The lobby doesn't provide flavored water nor does the room have a coffee maker. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for its location to Main Street and the cleanliness of the hotel.

Yelp
It is ok...and that is about that. Big room. Big bed - way too soft mattress. Big bathroom. I hate hotels that try to be cute...like putting a box of Scrabble on your desk, along with a Bible. What does that mean? Not the friendliest front desk. Valet was very good. Location a bit sketchy.

Aaron D.

Yelp
Embarrassing customer support when they don't clean the shower from the last guest. After countless request in person to the staff all fell on deaf ears. I was forced to clean myself.

Yelp
Wow! I had the best experience staying at The Sarasota Modern. From the moment you walk in - everyone at the front desk greets you with a smile and a welcome. The check in process was seamless and easy- I checked in through my Marriot app (highly recommended) and picked up my keys at the front desk (I opted out of mobile key for personal preference but it is an option). My room was very modern and clean. The bathroom was gorgeous - white and new fixtures everywhere with motion sensing lights. The shower was phenomenal with strong water pressure. I really liked the mirror with lights too! I had a balcony which overlooked the pool. The AC worked perfectly. I had breakfast at their restaurant Wink Wink and it was very tasty - the food was plentiful, fresh and healthy. The valet was top notch too - I would get my car so quick and efficiently. I am definitely staying here again when I'm in town!

Yelp
So I am giving this property at 3/5 simply because we went during the pandemic and none of the outlets were open to try! (For good reason, obv) The pool area was open and it is really nice! There's a lap pool and then 2 other smaller pools. There are nice big chairs to lay on and a nice bar area. Our room was on the first floor and had a cute patio with a couch and a table, surrounded by a curtain divider. The room is very minimalist which we liked. Just an FYI the property is pet friendly. And there was dog hair all over our couch and clothes. Not a huge deal but a little annoying. It's within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops and a short drive to beach. We can't wait to head back after the pandemic and experience the hotel fully! The one thing I did not like was that we were charged for a resort fee. I feel that the resort fee should have been waived during this time.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Such a beautiful hotel with friendly staff! The rooms are large and the balcony door opens all the way up for an indoor/outdoor feel. The pool area is great with lots of different seating and the bar is awesome! Bicycles, beach chairs and beach umbrellas are all included in the resort fee too and they provide coffee in the lobby each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location was perfect!

Yelp
An idiotic triumph of some junior year interior design intern with a Miami fantasy. Someone at Marriott is asleep at the wheel. Why? Why? WHY would you put textured tile floors in a bathroom? Wait! I know! So the last bachelorette party who puked on the floor can leave the next guest a message. Also, puke residue on the textured bathroom floors perfectly compliments the giant dark stains on the ecru colored TEXTURED carpet in the main room. Hang on. The more I complain about this, the more I see the beauty in the design!! This also leads the eye to the textured dark ecru fabric headboards! This was a stunning choice, junior year intern. Now I see why you went with floating bedside tables, or should I just call them "trays"? They gently becken guests to recall trays on the back of airplane seats- keeps the whole travel them going for vacationers. Having a simple wooden tray tacked to the wall beside the headboard that smells like last night's farewell to singleness actually reveals more textured carpet waiting to capture the next liquid memento! ps- I felt like I was living in a Kim Kardashian/Yeezy monastic home fantasy when I showered in the giant oversized shower with no door. The Costco size bottles of musky scented toiletries tacked to the wall were easy to spot because they were covered in previously dispensed product! It was almost like showering with the last person who showered in there. In fact, I was able to stare at the dried Tuscan colored human bio-deposit on the textured tile floor while I wondered why 296 TripAdvisor reviews gave this 4.5 stars. Tonight I decided that after 21 years of collecting Marriott points that I'll never book another Marriott hotel again. Not even going to cash in those points... Goodnight, Sarasota!

Yelp
I did a day pass here so i can only speak for the pool area. They sale food as well and have what it appears a full bar. I ordered the burger 8/10 it was big, tasty and came with fries and a mojito which was not good im not sure how it was made but one of the worst i ever had. 0/10 only ordered it because the bar was empty so if there a time to order a mojito that was it. The pool had a few leaves but nothing big enough to stop us from getting in. The spa was delicious, we also played a little ping pong. There was only one ball so it was annoying to have to chase after it, would've been nice to have more. Valet guy was nice and so were the girls who checker us in. Would recommend for a daypass to use their pool, wouldn't get drinks here tho (at least not at the pool bar) i saw that there was another bar inside the lobby.

Yelp
Smaller boutique type hotel, somewhat industrial in decor as our ground floor/pool level room had concrete floor and stark white walls without any decorative accents to speak of. The pool area small but does have good sized hot spa and cold plunge pools. However, there are issues with the wireless internet at hotel as none of the members of my party could connect and front desk couldn't figure out how to fix. Did not have adequate towels for poolside and bartender had to go get regular bath towels. Public restroom area in bar was in significant need of attention around noon when we checked in so obviously not cleaned from night before

Yelp
The Sarasota Modern, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel on Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota is a cool hotel that is nice for being in the middle of everything and being quiet and relaxing. I really like all that they have to offer here and the pool area. The rooms are great and I like the design of everything. The staff here is very attentive and works hard to make sure that you have the best stay.

Yelp
Geez Marriott. First let me say great job redoing the hotel but I think your forgot to replace the carpet. No lie it looked like poop or blood stains across the carpet in my room. The tile in the bathroom is textured and gross it doesn't appear that way until you step on it. The bar restaurant is still closed and they refer you to the pool bar which has only 3 food options and the salsa for the chips was Tostitos jar or something. I wish they would be unique and special or get local salsa. Now let me start with the goods. Cute decor, nice yummy welcoming drink, modern design, close to arts area.

Yelp
Very Swanky. Great staff at the front desk. Nice pool and pool bar. Fantastic valet service. Really nice room. Will definitely return.

Yelp
The price tag of this place doesn't match what you get in return. Bonvoy category 5? No way. Not even close. We paid $469 for two nights at this place. That included the valet fee and mandatory resort fee. Unfortunately I only scored 4500 Bonvoy points for this stay. This is about half of what you'll get when staying at an Aloft property. Place "looks good" in photos and in person and that's about it. No consideration for Bonvoy status or mention of it. They say complimentary adult beverage upon check in...didn't happen. Room was clean and comfortable. The next day I requested housekeeping. The manager looked puzzled and asked if I wanted "tidy service." This place doesn't do housekeeping unless you specifically request it. They made bed and replaced towels but didn't replenish waters or empty trash. Manager blamed it on COVID. In today's world, if you're lazy or incompetent, I guess you blame everything on COVID. Bar and restaurant closed for service. COVID. No coffee maker in room, probably COVID. Coffee in lobby tasted like coffee from the Marathon gas station. Overall, pretty disappointed in this hotel that's touted as being the new and up and coming property in Sarasota.

Shalini J.

Yelp
The atmosphere at this hotel was great. I felt like I was in Miami and loved the Slim Aarons wall art. The room was spacious with mid century modern fixtures, clean and bright too. Brittany and Tatiana at the front desk, and Andre the valet man were very friendly and helpful as well. Location is very centralized-overall great experience especially as a Lifetime Titanium Bonvoy member

Yelp
Do not stay here !! I am a Marriott Platinum Bonvoy member . The pool was filled with non hotel guests blasting load music from boom box ! No social distancing from children ! There was no attendant to order drinks from or get anything to eat . A bartender came 3 hours later saying he was away on hotel business I was told I would not have to pay there destination charge of $28 because of the mess at the pool but they charged me anyway ! I had no air conditioning in room they offered to move me at midnight but my girlfriend was already passed out . Stay at the aloft up the block much nicer hotel with pool and air conditioning I was told a manager was going to call me to address these issues but they have not .

Yelp
Hello, My partner and I booked this location as somewhat of a staycation and all the amenities included, such as the on-site restaurant. Prior to check in we called several times to confirm parking, restaurant hours, and check-in time to no avail, after calling five times there was no answer. We arrive and the restaurant is closed. We continue to our room and the sanitation of the room was very poor; there was hair everywhere, on the sofa, on the floor near our bed and in the bathroom on the toilet, we notified the front desk immediately and we were moved to another room. The next morning a random man who happened to be the Janitor barged into the room when we were unclothed after us telling him not to come in multiple times and screaming. The Do Not Disturb sign was also on the door. We informed the front desk and the Manager told us that she would call back immediately, we never received a phone call. The next morning we went out for brunch and came back to an unidentifiable yellow liquid outside of our room resembling urine, we were told it was sanitizer; it was not sanitizer, after smelling it, it was indeed urine. On top of that our room keys weren't working properly the entire time and there wasn't a microwave in the room or one we could use on the premises. When we notified the front desk and the Manager about our unpleasant and horrific stay we were met with defense, negative attitudes and just an overall lack of empathy. We ended up cutting our vacation short and checking out after the series of unfortunate events. This is by far the worst hotel stay I've ever had in my life. I do not recommend.

Yelp
This hotel ruined my wedding night. I paid for the top room- the largest and most expensive suite in the hotel for my wedding weekend. My mom stayed with me New Year's Eve on the night before my wedding to wake up with me and get our makeup and hair done in my hotel suite. As I was leaving the hotel to head to my wedding venue on wedding day, I asked the front desk to change the sheets and be sure the room is made up since my mom had stayed with me the night before. I asked that they do something special to make the room feel romantic and special on my wedding night - a service which I said I would pay for. I returned to the suite. with my husband after leaving our wedding to find the room left exactly as it was when I left it that morning. No signs of even regular room service, let alone the "something special" I asked for. I was really hoping to surprise my husband with a romantic dressed room for our first night as a married couple, and instead we had to crawl into an unmade bed and sleep on the same unwashed sheets my mom and I had slept on the night before. The most important night in my whole life that I was excited to put together something special for, and the concierge completely let me down. I tried to speak with someone in management, got someone on the phone, and they promised me a follow up email after time to investigate what went wrong. I never heard back from the hotel. 0/10 would not recommend until they get some serious help with their hospitality department.

Yelp
Excellent and friendly service from everyone at this stylish boutique hotel made our one-night stay delightful. We hope to return and have recommended the place to our friends.

Yelp
This "hotel" is god-awful. I've stayed at many Marriott properties over the 23 consecutive years I have been gold or platinum with them, and this may literally be the worst property ever. Upon arrival, the front desk employee was annoyed that I walked up and continued her very ghetto slang phone call. She did not greet us, provided the wrong checkout options, guaranteed me that there was bottled water in the room and shared that the valet would be around to help. The valet did show up and (this was a big mistake) took my car. The wallpaper in the elevator is capable of giving someone a seizure. It's green and orange and is so ugly someone could vomit on it and it might look better. Our room SMELLED. Musty, old, disgusting, and simply off-putting. No bottled water, a cleaning rag in the bathroom, and poor lighting. As a result I went back down to the lobby and asked for bottled water. Again I annoyed the employee and was handed two bottles of Perrier and told "just take these" in a very rude manner. We WOKE TO BED BUGS CRAWLING IN THE BED. WE NOT ONLY TOOK PHOTOS BUT HAVE A VIDEO. I thought my wife was going to vomit. Upon trying to get out of there as fast as possible I ordered my car. We left and went to get coffee nearby where I then discovered a small dent and 2nd scratch to my car. DO NOT stay here.

Yelp
Checked in NYE 2019 with my husband and 6 month old baby. The room reeked of dog, had dog food crumbs on the floor, with dirty sheets - mascara on the sheets. I asked for a room change and the second room smelled equally bad - like a kennel. Asked to speak with a manager but no one came. Apparently the managers were all busy cleaning rooms on NYE. Rooms were $500/night on NYE btw. We used 40K points/night 3 hours later, a sour faced rep by the name of Yana approaches me in the lobby and has the unchecked temerity to tell me 'there's nothing I can do'. When did vacuuming and clean sheets become a lofty request for a hotel room??? We are Titanium Elite members with Marriott and couldn't believe the piss poor service. This hotel is a joke. We first stayed there NYE 2018 when it was newly opened. Service was mediocre but at least it was clean. A year later, it's apparent this particular hotel is poorly managed and honestly a joke and a disgrace to the Marriott/Sheraton brand. Do yourself a favor - pick Art Ovation instead. I really wanted this hotel to be my favorite because the pool is lovely but cleanliness trumps ALL with hotels. We called Marriott Bonvoy to escalate the matter around 8pm and the rep couldn't believe how rude the staff were to her, lending credence to our complaint. We checked out and couldn't get another hotel room anywhere in town. I'm absolutely furious at this hotel and their management because they clearly couldn't handle the NYE demand and ruined our plans.

Yelp
this is a motel at best. service is below standard. my room had constant power outages. slept with no AC in 90 degree heat. no matter price agreed. they hit you when you leave wsith a resort tax. and they Added $150 per night in BS cleaning costs. manager did not return requested call. and all staffers seem to be young and un concerned. STAY AWAY. ART Ovation is the nicest hotel.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my stay. The pools are beautiful and the room was cozy. Loved having my morning coffee on the little juliet balcony. The restaurant serves a delicious coffee roasted in St Petersburg; Bandit coffee. The best part of my stay was the opportunity to ride a Peloton bike each morning for workout! There are many great restaurants and a Whole Foods I'm walking distance of the hotel. Walking around Sarasota is a treat. Grab an uber out to Lido beach. It's just about 15 minutes away. Plan your trip so you're out on Lido Key before 3:00 p.m. and try to come back after 6:00 p.m. to avoid traffic.

Yelp
Very nice hotel - clean, comfortable, and friendly, with a fantastic location downtown. The hotel restaurant is terrible, though. Whoever is the head chef should be let go. I ordered three items for dinner the first night I was here - salad, bao, and fruit galette. All three were nearly inedible. The salad was drenched in the vinaigrette dressing, the bao was gummy and stuck to my teeth (the crispy pork belly in the filling had the texture of shoe leather), and the galette was undercooked. Very disappointing. But I did love my room.

Yelp
We scored an awesome deal on travel zoo and decided to make a staycation out of it. My review is based on the amazing travel zoo deal that also included two free cocktails. The hotel has only been open a few months, so it is brand new!!! The rooms are very modern minimalist and they don't have a coffee machine in the room, so this loses major points. However when I went to the lobby, I was greeted and offered coffee my choice. I'm an almond milk girl and they had it!!! So customer service is amazing. Now, the other standout is the pool. It has a total Miami vibe. I mean you are transported straight to South Beach. There are two pools and a hot tub and the temperature is amazing!!! This is the star of the hotel. I really enjoyed my staycation and highly recommend the travel zoo deal. This hotel is definitely a bit pricey without it, but if you plan to spend time at the pool it's worth it .

Yelp
This place will fool you with IKEA furniture and bold wallpaper, then they will nickel and dime you to death! Everything is extra, EVERYTHING! Need a towel? That cost extra. Use their "complementary" valet service because there's is no other parking? That'll cost you extra. They even charge you extra for "services" that you may not even use, such as lawn chairs out by the pool or extra towels! When you check in you can get breakfast "included" for an extra $15 per person, but then if your breakfast charges go past $15 per person they charge you the extra!? So NOTHING is actually "included", they charge you extra for everything at the end of your stay! Everything else is ridiculously priced. $5 for a can of Coke! $9 for a tiny cup of nuts! Cinnamon bun... $10! Staff was nice but seemed clueless on almost any question asked of them. Menus are extremely confusing and misleading. Stay far away from this place! You can go to much nicer hotels for cheaper!

Yelp
From the time you pull up to Valet, great vibes begin. The check-in at the front desk, Jennifer answered all my questions regarding the area, local restaurants:), even provided us with complimentary beach chairs, towels, and an umbrella. The rooms are very luxurious, and the amenities will have you believing you are in a spa :).

Yelp
Hotel is beautiful. It's COVID and I get it they lack staff and it's hard. They sell you online that they are fully operational and they are absolutely NOT. You can barely get a cocktail here and it's isolated in the town so you have to walk to get amenities that should be available from a hotel of this stature. Bull shit rip off and waste of money.

Yelp
This hotel was all-around excellent. I can't stand valet parking, but this hotel made it work. Valet parking attendants were fantastic ambassadors. Room was white, clean, and spacious. Swimming pool area was fantastic. all staff members were Ultra friendly and gave great customer service. Housekeeping missed my room one day. And apparently they don't keep housekeeping staff on the property after hours. This meant I went one day without housekeeping.

Yelp
First night there the valet lied to me saying no other parking options outside of their $30 a night service was available, in reality there was abundant free options all around the hotel. Attempt was made to charge me for two nights of parking versus the one I used. The rooms are average and not the luxury you'd expect from a place touting itself as a resort. Midway through my stay holds in the excess of $400 were placed on my account saying that these were destination charges, making that $400 dollars less available for our family vacation. Additionally several coverings in the pool area were covered with mold/mildew. Not to mention the policy of charging for internet services that would be expected to be complimentary as is with even the most basic hotels.

Yelp
Nice people but disorganized. We waited over 30 min for eggs for breakfast. Also slippery bathroom floors - worried someone may go down and break back, neck etc. I put towels over the whole floor after almost going down multiple times throughout the weekend.

Yelp
My husband and I thought we had found a germ in Sarasota. In fact, I told all my friends how much I enjoyed our staying at the Modern. We enjoyed so much that we decided to return 3 weeks later. But I am so say to inform the hotel that I though the was a germ is not longer that nice. the entrance floor is dirty, wet from the people from the pool coming in wet and the staff were not cleaning. The carpet in the room has many stain spots, and after renting the room over a week ago, they give us the room next to the elevators. I guess this it no more The Modern Sarasota.

Yelp
What an amazing boutique style hotel! It has less than 90 rooms, but is clean, stylish, and has great amenities. The staff is also very friendly! Ginger was very courteous and was giving my husband and I suggestions on local restaurants. She also made the check in process easy and our car was available when we checked out. The gentleman doing valet was also very personable. Yes it's a little more expensive, but you get what you pay for. Amazing rooms, fantastic amenities and pool:bar area, and very friendly staff. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I am writing this as a warning to future guests wanting to stay at The Sarasota Modern. My husband and 10 month old son stayed here for Memorial Day weekend and to say were disappointed is a complete under statement. My family and I are very loyal guests of the Marriott brand with Gold Elite status and when we travel we never stay anywhere else except Marriott, so you can imagine our disbelief when we observed 2 days of public drug use, all night partying and rooms being broken into by people who were clearly intoxicated. My husband and I even witnessed a guest and his wife complaining to the front desk attendant that someone was crawling on the ground in their room. As a result, that guest called the police. Around 1030 pm 7 police officers were seen the lobby of the hotel. As I mentioned, these officers were called by the guest, only because the front desk attendant, Zamira refused to address the situation, or any of the other illegal activities that were being conducted at the hotel. In addition to this, my husband and I have video of the door to our room not locking. We reported this to Zamira and she did nothing about it. I am certain we are not the only ones that were having issues with the door locks and it explains why people were found crawling on floors in rooms to which they did not belong. The hotel staff ignored our complaints and did nothing to assist me and my family. If fact, they actually threatened to kick us out for our complaints. All of this in the middle of a pandemic, when hotels and restaurants are struggling to survive. This was the opposite of customer service. The Marriott brand should be embarrassed to have this hotel under their name. To top things off, our credit card showed fraudulent charges made by the hotel staff to the tune of $1,800 for two nights. Lastly, after returning home, we called and emailed the general manager, Crystal Rivera to try and get some answers to all of this and we have received no response.
