The Savoy

The location is great and staff is great. There is a beach a quick 5min walk away fromthe hotel, and both busses and trains are within walking distance. The rooms could do with some upgrades/maintenance, but are clean and good for the price we paid.

The rooms a clean and well appointed and its in a fantastic location. However for a hotel located in this area it does need some maintenance that would give it the lift it needs and it's simple things. Chips in bath, paint peeling on roof in bathroom.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING IN EVERY ASPECT !!! We are unfortunate enough to be here right now... The room stinks like stale cigarettes The bed is hard The walls are thinner than tissue paper The parking is non existant And the staff, we'll thats where I draw the line. I went to ask for a refund as my wife and I were extremely unhappy with our allocated room. The "manager" as he calls himself, shows us another room. Which was somehow worse than the room we were in !!!! When I said to him it's worse than where we are, I was told "well that's what you can get with your budget " !!! To be belittled by an arrogant "manager" and refused a refund when the room is very, very poor is ridiculous I NOR ANYONE I KNOW WILL EVER STAY AT THIS FEEBLE EXCUSE FOR A "HOTEL" AGAIN ZERO STARS IS TOO NICE

350$ a night for an old moquetted room.. bed was falling apart and the room weirdly furnished. Location is the best bit, but cmon. Price is not a problem, let's justifying it tho.

First of all I booked a superior room with a courtyard view and got “upgraded” to a street view. Unfortunately said street had garbage trucks at 6am. The windows sound like they are open and the room super noisy. The toilet leaks so they had a towel wrapped around the base. If my room was superior I’d hate to see a standard room. On the plus size it seemed clean and the bed was ok. I learnt the lesson what you pay for is what you get.

Why have I given 4-stars? Not for the room. Best thing about it? It was clean. It was a place to sleep during a "forgotten weekend." Basic, dated. But sufficient. The service? No. Don't get me wrong, staff were polite and friendly. But when it was pouring rain and I asked for an umbrella, all I got was an optimistic platitude that the rain would soon cease. (It didn't). Location. That's it. Heart of Double Bay. I happened to be visiting the area and needed a pad close to festivities. All the glitz and glam of 2028 for $140 a night. As a cheap place to sleep, Savoy met my expectations.

This is truly a low quality hotel, but there were also good things about it. The location is wonderful. The front desk staff are very nice and helpful and polite. My bed was comfortable and the linens were clean. BUT…the rooms are dated and don’t feel nice. For example, the fan in the bathroom in our room made a horrible sound whenever we turned the light on. The rooms smell stale. There are storage containers and towels and bedding in the hallways. There were refilled soap and lotion containers in the bathroom, but instead of being over the sink, they were at the side of it, so soap an lotion kept spilling on the floor. We did request housekeeping and the housekeeping service was good. It felt like we were staying in a “dive” type hotel - the type of hotel a person gets stuck in when he or she is down on his luck. The hotel just feels run down. I hope the management may consider making improvements since this hotel could be nice again.

I didn’t actually get to stay, booked 1 night over the phone and was promised to try and get another 2 rooms, called to three times to get extra rooms and on the 3rd call they didn’t even book my first room. Make sure you get an email confirmation as they don’t stand by there word.
