We have been coming to this hotel for a while and have always loved it, as the location is convenient and makes it easy to get around. However, this time our experience was extremely disappointing. The room we stayed in was not the cleanest honestly just from lack of a deep clean, well organized but a few hairs here and there and just wet and the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell from the moment we arrived, and there were insects in the room which we strongly believe were bed bugs. We were left with SO MANY bites, constantly itching and taking bed bugs home with us, which was extremely uncomfortable and annoying . Also, there aircon is DISGUSTING, full of dust and cant even use it as you’ll get sick if you breathe in that air. This is not something that should ever happen in a hotel, especially one we have trusted and returned to in the past. I wouldn’t recommend this place, enjoy your stay and go somewhere clean and comfortable.

Fantastic location! That's where the positivity ended. Unfortunately the rooms are in need of some serious TLC. Dirty stained floors, bugs flying in shower, broken sofa - could not sit on it. Water in the fridge off, milk not replenished, extremely dusty, no spare blankets, very loud in the room above. Sadly would not reccomend.

I've stayed at this hotel quite a few time over the past 10 years. I could get over the dated interior and lack of insulation (noise and temp) because the location and price were pretty decent. BUT, I recently stayed at the hotel and got a rash / insect bites on my skin all over. At first I wasn't sure if the source was the hotel, but then I saw the other review and realised that two people staying at the hotel around the same time getting a rash / bites is more than just coincidence. Like the other reviewer I just hope that it's not bed bugs.

Look, I've stayed in some dumps. Budget motels on the Hume Highway. Hostels in Bali where the shower is also the toilet. But The Savoy in Double Bay, in DOUBLE BAY, might be the filthiest room I've ever paid actual money for.|There's Coca-Cola splattered up the wall like a murder scene. Just... dried there. For months, maybe years. Other mystery stains forming a Jackson Pollock of bodily fluids and condiments. I genuinely don't know which would be worse.|The extractor fan has grown its own fur coat. Actual carpet of lint. The aircon unit sounds like someone's dying inside it and probably gave me bronchitis. When did they last service this thing, Y2K?|Bathroom's a war crime. Shower door smashed, "fixed" with a curtain that belongs in a servo toilet. Tiles held on with Blu Tac. Blu Tac. In a bathroom! |Door's smashed a hole in the wall. "Repaired" with what looks like toothpaste.|The view? Dead plants, electrical junk from 1987, and genuine rubbish. Stunning.|I slept fully clothed because the room felt that diseased. Itched all night. Couldn't shower fast enough in the morning—at home, obviously, not in that biohazard.|The location's brilliant. You're 200 meters from $8 coffees and women who lunch. Which makes this even more baffling. Someone's charging Double Bay prices for accommodation that would fail a backpacker hostel inspection.|Sleep in the park. Genuinely. You'll wake up cleaner.|Would I recommend? Only to enemies.

Really dated interior. Bed sheets were stained, even though they were bleached. From one night of saying there, I left with a lot of random insect bites. I hope they are not bedbugs. How does this place cost over $200 a night?!

Older complex however very clean. Staff amazing and friendly. Room has everything you need. Kitchenette facilities near reception with microwave, toaster, plates etc. Wilson car park 3 minute walk from hotel. Close to everything in Double Bay. Exceptional value for money. Would definitely stay again. Thank you Savoy!

I did not end up staying there. But…. Beware! Online price does not include excessive cleaning fee and tax recovery charges! This property uses a lot of third parties to manage their bookings. So beware! And if you get a refund you’re still out of pocket as they have other hidden fees. Savoy, you may want to rethink your booking management system!

Room & linen very clean. Bed supercomfortable. Staff friendly and accommodating. They offered free upgrade to family room, hence heaps of space. Arrived 10pm. All quiet and peaceful. Suited my needs perfectly. Great value for money. Vibrant cafes and shops at the doorstep. Less than 5 mins walk to Double Bay beach/ jetty and views of the boats and waterfront. Only complaint is I couldn't get the jug to work, but plug may have partially pulled out from wall (it was high up and out of reach). 10/10 for value for money.
