So this is a pub with history and an amazing view and that is the main reason to stop here. Perched on the edge of the cliff you could very easily drink away your afternoon with a bunch of friends. Unfortunately though the food is average at best and is well what is to be expected from a decent pub feed in 2025. Two weekends ago we were in Palm Cove (Cairns) and had a burger and fish and chips. We both said they were one of the best meals we have had at a pub ever. Unfortunately the burger and fish and chips we had here were so basic, lacking in love and desire to impress. No garnish at all, no small side salad with either meal, both meals were just underwhelming. Don’t get me wrong the food wasn’t bad. We ate both meals but considering the high prices $29 for the burger and $32 for the fish and chips, it is fair to expect a whole different level of quality in the meals.

This place is STUNNING. Definitely worth a visit to take in those beautiful seaside views. The food is a decent price for the vibes. There are QR codes on the tables to order food, but you still have to go upstairs and collect it yourself. You can't order drinks through the QR code, so you have to stand in line at the bar. On a Saturday at lunch, there was one bartender at the outdoor bar. Seems insane. The queue was looooong. The oysters were fresh and tasty, and the barramundi was lovely. The snapper and prawn pie was a little bland. I'll be coming back for the beautiful atmosphere.

The Scarborough Hotel is a must-visit! The view is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning ocean vistas that make for a perfect dining backdrop. The fish and chips were outstanding crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Combine that with friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere, and it’s an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!

Google
Stunning view - perfect spot on a sunny day. But, food is ridiculously overpriced for the portion size, charged 20% surcharge for bank hol and you have to collect your own food. Really beautiful environment, but would suggest just getting a drink over purchasing average food.

Beautiful old hotel with a great outdoor deck and back garden dining. All while enjoying good food with a fantastic ocean view background. Don't pass this hotel without checking it out yourselves.

Great views, nice food and freindly staff, pity they don't stay open for dinner

Google
Stunning views, beautiful place to sit and enjoy good company. Food and drinks were only okay but not terrible. Staff were a bit all over the place but considering they are also working the garden, can’t really blame them.

Walked from Thirroul to Coalcliff. Right before the Seacliff bridge is the Scarborough hotel. Pulled in for a lemon, bitters and vodka, sunk it right quick because I was pretty thirsty. Just as I was finishing they came and let me know there was 10 minutes on the bar and if you wanted another drink to go in order. Went up, grab my second drink all up cost me about 20 bucks for 2 mixers, but considering the walk I wasn't complaining. Honestly, I cannot recommend people catching a bus up to the Scarborough hotel and having a cheeky couple before walking the Seacliff bridge any more than I do. It was an incredible time.

Yelp
The Scarborough Hotel is famous for it's views but sometimes gets a bad rap for crowding. Well, don't be a goose/sheep and come here during peak periods! We brought the family here for morning tea this morning and it was spectacular! Excellent service, good coffee, and everyone raves about their hot chocolate. Best of all - we pretty much had the place to ourselves! Do yourself a favour, if you really want to enjoy the amazing Scarborough Hotel views and relax, take the time to visit off-peak!

Yelp
I have such mixed feelings about this place. Parts of my experience were fantastic, while others were underwhelming. The easiest way to explain may be a pros/cons situation. Pros: good location, beautiful views, friendly service. This is definitely the weirdest restaurant experience I've ever had in terms of service - you have to wait to be seated, but then you have to go back upstairs to order your food, bring a buzzer with you downstairs through the garden, and then when your buzzer goes off - back upstairs, gather your hot plates, and bring them to your table on your own. I feel like if you are eating on actual plates (not takeaway style dishware), and you have to wait to be seated... you should have a server. This situation seemed so weird to me. Either way, the people working here are very friendly. Cons: Food is expensive, which isn't a problem, but you are definitely paying for the view, not good food. However, even with a nice view, a $26 spaghetti with cherry tomatoes seems over the top to me. My boyfriend got the fish and chips, and we were both unimpressed with the food. It wasn't terrible, and we were hungry, so we have no regrets, but if you're coming here to chill and enjoy the view - eat before you come. For food and one drink each, my bf and I paid over $80. Bottom line: visit for a drink and a look at the view. Skip the food. Tables are nice and big, so it's a great place to meet up with friends.

Yelp
Fish and chips for lunch. Great views and plenty of sunny corners. One piece of fish was practically raw but the batter nice and crispy. The meal was replaced immediately so they really do care. For $26 they should. A pint of Asahi for $16 was a bit over the top but did taste fantastic.

Yelp
I love this place mainly for the relaxing and gorgeous cliff views of the ocean while you sip on a refreshing beverage outside. They have really sturdy and good quality outdoor umbrellas so it provides perfect shade on a hot sunny day. We came here on a weekday arvo and it happened to be pretty quiet with perfect sunny weather. Customer service was really friendly and efficient. The Margaret River tempranillo wine was smooth and went down well. This is the place to go if you want to relax. Just be careful with parking not to drive over the cliff!

Yelp
The only stars this place would get is for the location, view and some good ale. Food selection is limited. Price is normally around 25/30s but they wont customize your order. Not even removal of tomatoes so food service is not much appreciated however staff are helpful for taking pictures and very welcoming. No waiter service so make sure to get a nearest spot as you have to carry your food all the way. And the best views are the spots that are furthest. I hope they would add some more items to their menu and the kitchen staff could customize the food depending on our needs..

Yelp
Not even half full on a Sunday morning and they are already completely overwhelmed, we stood at the bar at the entrance and now body even acknowledged us. No good morning , no menu. We thought we are maybe at the wrong bar? Only ordered a flat white in a cup, that came with white sugar. Coffee was ok. We sat on the porch that was covered and surrounded by a kind of a tent. It blew in the wind and made it very noisy, there is a heat lamp and water puddles on the floor. The view is nice, the place not worth going!

Benjamin B.

Yelp
One of the great Sunday session spots of the south coast. The only problem is, not only does the entire south coast know about it, but everyone else in the country too, and many from outside of it if the Sunday I went was any indication. It don't look nothin' special from the outside, but go in, and downstairs, and emerge out onto a deck overlooking a glorious green grassy green expanse that sits atop a cliff like the Garden of Beerden and there, as far as you can see, is the Ocean, a vast blue purgatory dotted with whitecaps and far-off tankers. You feel like Bacchus looking out upon all of Creation. The food is damn good too, I went for the fish and chips and they were reamed, absolutely reamed with people on this day and the fish was still golden and fresh, the chips big and fluffy, and the salad, well, kinda scarce actually but who cares because fish and view. Just be prepared to wait on weekends because, boy howdy, you will. And then some. Give yourself, like, 5 hours. Preferably 6, to get there, wait, eat, and drive back home.

Yelp
The new reno's are awesome. The outside beer garden with the most awesomesauce of views is well worth the 45 minute drive out here. It gets really really busy about lunchtime and you'll have a hard time finding a parking spot so beware if you're planning a weekend drive here for a lunch break. The food was lovely, the steak was well done and the salad was totally nom. They have a great cafe at the front of house which does warm drinks as well, and after the blustery wind this bit was a godsend as I had more hot chocolates & coffee than I did cocktails! The staff are lovely and amenities are clean. You can book the huts for birthday's etc, or there are tables scattered around the garden that you can sit at. Go check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Lewis G.

Yelp
You're paying for the view and nothing else. And it's damn expensive at that. $16 for a pint of Asahi, plus a credit card surcharge is an absolute joke. The fish and chips were fine, but the portion was a but slim at $26 per meal 7/10. The pulled pork burger was passable at best - 5/10. Yes, the view from the back was spectacular. Do yourself a favour and have a coffee there, and then head elsewhere for lunch.

Yelp
Stopped here on our way back from Bateman's Bay. My friend said it was famous for its view and the food was good. The menu was a bit pricey - a prawn and mango salad cost me $22 and it wasn't very filling. Friend ordered the seafood pasta and that looked a bit more filling. Guess it;s expensive to try and be healthy! Still, the place was cool and the view was amazing. If you get a chance to stop by to grab a drink and soak up the scenery definitely do!

Rose K.

Yelp
It's all about the location and views, it is unmatched. The food is okay, just don't get the burger. I would go back, nice relaxing place.

Yelp
This hotel/restaurant has gorgeous cliffside views of the ocean and atmosphere. The restaurant had amazing seafood on their menu that was simply amazing. I had forgotten all the names but I will post pictures

Yelp
If your passing by it's a great Pub to rest at and have a refreshing drink and bite to eat. Nothing overly special but must admit the view is a very good reason to stop and absorb ..... the back garden over looks the ocean and on a beautiful day ..... It's Priceless !!

Daniel R.

Yelp
Very dissatisfied and disappointed with this venue. Management is obviously happy to rely solely on the location, and not focus on customer service at all. Pros Great location Cons * Orders came out staggered, one person received their meal literally 25 minutes after the first * steak - if you can't cook a steak get away from the bbq. Ordered rare received medium * no table service * over priced Caesar salad was incredibly bland If you want a great view with poor service, poor food at a premium price then eat here.

Sylwia W.

Yelp
Great view that for sure! The menu had a lots of seafood dishes. Everything had prawns in it . In salads or pastas too. Had a mango salad and was OK but a bit pricey. My boyfriend had a pasta and was really good too. If you driving by stop for a drink or two, have some food and enjoy the view specially in the garden or on the balcony.

Yelp
We have been a few times and were unfortunately always disappointed. We were put on the wait list for a table on the grass but after waiting 2 hours realised we had been forgotten about. It is cash only when you purchase food, no receipts given (suspicious?). Final straw is overpriced food. Adult fish and chips costing $27 looks exactly the same as the $12 kids. Only difference was tartare and two kid sized fish fillets instead of one.

Candace W.

Yelp
Admittedly, the place is hectic on weekends and staff can be stressed, but the food is great and the view - exceptional. Not many people realise, it also has a gallery with a new exhibition every 8 weeks. As an art lover I regularly attend the exhibitions and I'm looking forward to some new events in the works. Hopefully, the Scarborough will think of hosting some night time events.

Yelp
Amazing location with beautiful views out over the ocean from the cliff top. Perfect on a sunny day. Grassy beer garden setting good for families. Food is pretty good. Nicely renovated classic pub. Can get busy so get there early on a sunny weekend.

Yelp
The Scarborough Hotel - went for breakfast first time - last time. 4 of us all ordered different meals - hard boiled poached eggs on toast - big breakfast, keep it simple - pancakes were just terrible. When a staff member collected our plates she said she wished she could have told us prior to ordering. Sourdough toast lightly toasted is beautiful but well toasted turns into concrete...

Erin M.

Yelp
Nice view. Terrible food. $24 burger that not sure had any meat in it. Disgusting. The view is lovely though.

Yelp
We came here on Sunday after 11am ...well before the lunch time crowd. I ordered the prawn linguini and my partner ordered the burger - both which were $24 each. I thought it was a bit steep for a burger! My partner made a remark that the cheese in his burger looked like Macca's cheese. My prawn linguini lacked seasoning and was drowned in a tomato based sauce with parmesan cheese mixed through - it looked as unappetizing as it tasted. I think for $24 - you need to do better than that! Needless to say, this is the last time we eat here. For the chef on the kitchen - may I suggest that you look at a recipe for prawn linguini ....Jamie Oliver's recipe.
