We visited Masterton for a weekend and were recommended The Screening Room a couple of times, so we stopped for breakfast on our way home. Did not disappoint! Food delicious, coffee was great .. if not for a long drive home we would have also purchased one of the delicious looking cakes in the cabinet.

Tried the slow-cooked pork belly with parsnip purée, marinated artichoke and pickle as well as the crispy lamb shoulder with grilled focaccia, hummus, dukkah and cranberries – both were absolutely outstanding. The pork belly was tender and full of flavour, perfectly balanced with the creamy parsnip and tangy pickle. The lamb shoulder had the right amount of crispiness, paired beautifully with the hummus and dukkah, and the touch of cranberry gave it a really nice lift. Presentation was top notch, flavours were creative yet comforting, and the atmosphere made the whole experience even better. Easily one of the best dining spots in Masterton – highly recommend these dishes!

I came in at 8:10pm not long before closing and they were able to sit me. I had the lamb, which they made gluten free as I am coeliac. It was super yum and went well with the malbec I got. For dessert I had an espresso mousse. I have no idea how someone would finish the whole thing by themselves since it was so sweet with salted caramel along the bottom. I don't regret ordering it, but best share it with someone if you don't want to waste any.

We were looking for something to do in Masterton on a Saturday evening and found the Screening Room. Unfortunately for us - it is obviously very popular and the movie was sold out. But we were able to get a table so decided to stay and enjoy a very delicious meal. I went for the burger - really good. (not so keen on the skinny fries). And hubby went for the chicken salad - which was fresh, tasty and had heaps of chicken (that was his take on it). If you're in Masterton - this place is well worth a visit!! But book you're movie ticket in advance to avoid disappointment!

We just moved to Masterton from Lower Hutt and this is my wife and myself's first dinner date here in Masterton. And, the Screening Room is a worthy first choice!! We were so impressed by the food and the service. We ordered the asparagus as entree, and for me, the crispy pork belly, and my wife had the balinese lamb curry. She also had their mocktail. For dessert, we had the apple and walnut steam pudding. All of them are beyond our expections. They are all perfectly served and the tastes are just amazing!! The staff are all friendly too!! We will definitely be back again and will try the other food in the menu. Please do check them out as they have the cinema too.

I ordered the calamari from the cinema menu, and it was delicious. Staff were lovely. Very clean cinema with spacious seats. Good temperature too.

The Screening Room has been our no. 1 choice for 6 years when we want a nice dinner. Today we called in just after lunch for a celebratory bubbles and cake. The Prosecco was delicious but the cake! It would have been perfect if it had been fresh. It was a salted caramel lamington cake. It was hard, dry and such a huge disappointment. It looks great in the cabinet! It’s obviously refrigerated but it has ruined the product. We ate most of it because it was only a piece of cake but man, it was a sad cake!

Came to watch the movies that were shown in the Jackson Room. The cinema itself was clean and tidy. The chairs were comfortable enough for a 2 hour movie. You could order food or drinks and have it brought to your chair. The service was good and the staff were pleasant enough. The cinema screen was high definition, which made viewing a pleasure. All-in-all, we had a great time. It's worth a visit.
