The Sea Monkey Overwater Bungalows and Restaurant Bocas del Toro

Amazing experience and highly recommend it. We stayed in cabin #1 with a huge king bed and single. The room was plenty big enough and the double front slider doors allowed completed openness and view of the ocean. The bathroom and clean with flush toilets and hot water. And I can not say enough about the service. They team were so accommodating, hospitable and friendly. They made our stay so enjoyable and we plan to come back! Thanks again for the amazing stay !!!

We went as a couple for a unique experience at The Sea Monkey. We booked 1 of the Bungalows over seas and it was everything and more we expected. Very nice bungalow, spacious and clean with a million dollar view over seas. The deck is really big so you enjoy the outdoor area to the maximum! We saw dolphins passing by from our deck and saw thunder and lightning as if it was included in the price! :)) The sea wasn't bright blue as we expected but this has probably to do with the weather in stead of the venue or location. Not too much to do in Isla Bastimentos but great place to chill and explore the beautiful nature. ||Keith and Franny welcomed us as true hosts, showing us around and were always available. Try the beerfish if you have dinner there. ||Thanks again for the nice welcome!

The rooms were cutely decorated and quaint. We stayed in bungalow 3 which pretty much only has a bed. There is a “closet” but pretty much the majority of storage for suitcases and belongings is on the floor or on the small wooden table if you’re not using it to eat on. The food was excellent! HIGHLY recommend the coconut French toast and huevos rancheros. We did take the walking path to Wizard beach. The trail was well marked and well maintained. It was nice to have something outdoors to do so close to the accommodations. The location was… tough. I know the sea monkey does not have total control over things like noise or general cleanliness of the walking paths. But, warning of this before the visit or at check in would have been much appreciated. One night there was music, singing, screaming, barking dogs, roosters crowing from literally ~9pm to 10am. Some provided ear plugs could have maybe allowed me 2-4 hours of sustained sleep. After reading previous reviews from 2-3 years ago, I can’t help but wonder why soap and towels are still not provided? We had to ask for an additional towel to dry off our hands. Overall, we have decided we would not recommend this accommodation to a friend if they were visiting Bocas. Our experience with the staff was generally good. They were accommodating when we asked for assistance but it was hard to justify staying in the bungalow during the day when there wasn’t much comfortable place to sit and the water was too dirty to swim in. Honestly, we feel bad leaving this review! The people were friendly and accommodating, but we also feel like it’s necessary to help inform future visitors to this island. If we could leave 3.5 stars, that is how we truly fee.

Wonderful bungalows with an absolutely stunning view! The island is very calm and the property can be reached directly by water taxi from Bocas. The bungalows are well equipped with everything you need: a good shower, a fridge, and a comfortable bed (though the mattress might be a bit on the soft side). Breakfast is served between 7 am and 10 am — on our first day it was even brought right to our room! Dinner is also available on-site and was delicious.

This was excellent quieter location excellent walkabilty to old town center . Grocery nearby and other restaurant . This restaurant really caters to its guests and is always open during the day. The Bungalows view was spectacular the quality inside excellent 👌 a mini fridge and a/c but breezes meant hardly needed it . The soap in bathroom smelled divine ✨️. All the ladies are helpful and friendly.

Very nice people and good service. To get a taxi boat just get on the dock and wave and they will come. Bring insect repellent though.

Always wanted to stay at an over-the-water place. It was great. Bungalow is roomy, with full bathroom. I appreciated the ability to open the doors and let the outdoors in, but close them and turn on the air conditioning (bungalows 3 and 4) on hot late afternoons. Stacy was always responsive to requests or questions. Breakfast is delivered daily at the time of your choice, with 4 delicious choices. The village has many more residents than tourists, so that makes it more interesting. Several good restaurants within walking distance, and the wait staffs speak English.

Friendly staff, awesome location, and yummy breakfast. We took our adult children in June and the room was comfortable for four. We stayed in #4 and would definitely recommend.
