The Secret Garden Quito

We would have not enjoyed Quito if it wasn’t for this hostel. Their family meals are a great way to meet people. Their rooftop has the best views in the city so it’s the perfect place to have dinner and chill or have drinks once it gets dark. They have a ton of activities like walking tours and middle of the world tours and can help organize/plan transportation to the airport or throughout Ecuador. Private rooms are simple but the bed was comfy. Bathrooms were meh but not bad - warm water in the shower just took a while.

Stayed 3 nights and loved it! The decor is so fitting of the name "secret garden". It's the kind of hostel that brings really lovely backpackers, we made lots of friends. We stayed in a private room with a communal bathroom; both were clean and met their needs, though, it can be a little tricky to get hot water. There is a bar/restaurant on the roof with great menu for both breakfast and dinner and a beautiful view of the city! The restaurant offers discounts to the hostel's guests, has a happy hour, and offers "family" dinners. Highly recommend staying here if you're a backpacker

I had high expectations for this hostel and they were exceeded. The facilities are excellent and so clean and comfortable. The services they offer are fantastic and everything you would want to do in the area and beyond. The walking tour by Fernando was by far the best walking tour I’ve done, filled with knowledge and humour. The staff are exemplary, especially Mario. We went to him multiple times with questions, and no matter how big or small he answered. He is incredibly friendly and genuinely interested in talking to you, and there’s nothing he won’t try to help you with. I couldn’t say enough nice things about him, he is a credit to this amazing hostel. The laundry service was excellent and very efficient, Martha and myrian were very helpful!

Dorms are cheap, beds are comfy, the vibe is welcoming and the view is amazing! The only thing I could ask for would be a basic kitchen, but also there are very affordable food options available in the area. The staff is super friendly and Alexis, Sonja and Hanh made it feel like home. Would definitely come back here!

I would definitely get my laundry done here again! Martha, Henry, and Eli were the best; very thorough, organized, and informative. I was so impressed with the quality of how clean my clothes returned to me and in the timeframe as well. Not a single article missing. Everyone was very kind and personable. The secret garden is lucky to have such excellent staff!

Great hostel, but the real reason to come here is MARIO! The guy who works at the reception is the best person I’ve met in seven months of traveling. Seriously, I was genuinely excited to come back to the hostel just to see him. He helps with everything, really cares, and has an amazing memory — once you tell him something, he’ll organize everything according to your preferences. He made my stay in Quito perfect.

Super happy with my stay here. The bar and restaurant vibes are immaculate. The rooms are comfortable and tidy. The bathrooms are super clean. I wanted to make a special shout out to the laundry team, specifically Martha, Henry and Miriam. They were so helpful with my laundry issues and got the job done amazingly with low stress. This is THE place to go in Quito. They organise all your day trips, walking tours, have half off in the restaurant and family dinners. But most of all, they have the nicest most helpful staff 🤍 Mario was absolutely amazing, so cheery the minute we checked in and helped us the entire time. He even took time to answer some of our questions about the spanish language and was ready to help us at all times! He made the stay so easy.
