9 hidden bars in Singapore - SilverKris

"By day it operates as a sushi joint serving Shinkansen-style rolls and sashimi salads, while at night it transforms into a cocktail bar focused on American craft spirits and liqueurs; expect tropical-fruit-forward concoctions (dragon fruit) and playful, movie-inspired cocktails such as a Beauty and the Beast mix of gin, citrus bitters, fresh orange juice and a cherry." - SilverKris

This bar is not located inside ocean financial centre like what google says, do check with the receptionist there on how to get here. Its a very small space. Drinks overall are pretty mid, i am not impressed. Also they can’t get you something thats off the menu like espresso martini or white russian for example. Also got the fries, and it was big portion.

Smol space, big vibes. This literal hole in a wall of a cocktail bar is hidden in plain sight within the Raffles Place pedestrian mall under Ocean Financial Centre. Fusion food. Many makis on the menu. Didn’t know fried broccoli and tater tots (Napoleon Dynamite) could taste so bomb! It gets a little squeezy but that’s part of the vibe. Asiatique cocktails. The seasonal nori cocktail was briny and fresh. Like a gulp of seawater. If you like martinis you can try the Silk & Honey with a pecking of wild honeycomb. $50-$60/pax for 2 drinks + bites. Reservations necessary.

Bartender very rude/indifferent at 9:30pm on a weeknight. "Silk & Honey" cocktail, made of three total ingredients, claims to be with "smoked honey" but it was just plain honey. B.S. drink. Bartender disappears behind a curtain to process your credit card. Not sure how this place gets such good reviews, it's nothing that special. I won't be going back. You couldn't pay me to go back.

A small secret bar hidden behind an inconspicuous black "container" setup. I like sitting at the bar and making small convo with the bartender. I had a cocktail called Special Tea that was light with a tangy bittersweet to it with "creaminess" from the egg white. I had the Apple Highball as well, which was pretty normal to me. The staff forewarned us that the truffle mushroom fries serving was huge like XXL and they were not kidding. We were served a basket of fries that was probably 3-4 x large pack of MacDonalds Fries. The fries were really nice and crisp, and we finished 3/4 of it for two ladies. The Mermaid Maki was a nice change-up - flavourful and nicely made as well. The Fried Broccoli (not in photo) was battered in tempura batter and fried to a light cirsp. Felt that the pieces were too big and chunky and would be better if they were cut into smaller size like chicken pops.

Great service by D'Cruz. Nice touch with the card per drink and the gold detailing of the straw. It would make me come back just to collect all cards. Great layout and interesting covert corner. The food was good, the cocktails could be better. However, we enjoyed the nightcap. Unfortunately, towards the end of the night, when the small groups started talking louder, the sound bounced back uncomfortably now and then. Overall, 4/5.

Tucked away in the basement of Raffles Place’s Ocean Financial Centre, The Secret Mermaid lives up to its name—it's elusive, mysterious, and brimming with character. By day, the space operates as a tasting room and retail bottle shop. But come evening, it transforms into a chic speakeasy bar, offering one of the most distinctive cocktail experiences in Singapore’s CBD. The entrance itself is unassuming, almost easy to miss, which is part of the allure. Once inside, you’re greeted by an intimate, dimly lit space with a stylish yet relaxed ambiance. The bar is cozy, with seating for about 20 to 30 guests, making it perfect for an after-work drink or a quiet evening catch-up. The decor is modern with whimsical nautical touches that play on the "mermaid" theme without being over-the-top—think soft lighting, muted colors, and minimalist elegance. What truly sets The Secret Mermaid apart is its focus on American craft spirits. The bar proudly carries one of the most extensive selections of U.S. craft liquors in Singapore, many of which are not available anywhere else in the country. From small-batch bourbons and ryes to artisanal gins and vodkas, the offerings are thoughtfully curated and of exceptional quality. The cocktail menu is inventive and well-executed. Signature drinks change periodically, often designed around seasonal ingredients or themed collaborations. One standout is the "Smoky Negroni", which uses a bold rye base and house-infused flavors, offering a robust twist on the classic. Another favorite is the "Salted Plum Margarita", which delivers an unexpected punch of umami balanced with citrusy brightness. The bartenders here are skilled and passionate—open to crafting custom drinks based on your preferences or explaining the origins and profiles of the liquors they use. In addition to cocktails, The Secret Mermaid also offers tasting flights, allowing patrons to sample different styles of whiskey, gin, or even absinthe. This is particularly appealing for those who want to expand their palate or try something off the beaten path. The bar also sells bottles for takeaway, bridging the gap between bar and boutique spirits shop. Despite its central location, The Secret Mermaid maintains a surprisingly low profile. It's a favorite among those in the know—CBD professionals, cocktail enthusiasts, and expats looking for something a bit more refined than the usual bar scene. The crowd tends to be laid-back and mature, contributing to a comfortable and intimate vibe. Service is a major strength. The staff are knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they serve. Whether you're a cocktail novice or a seasoned connoisseur, they make you feel welcome without any pretension. In summary, The Secret Mermaid is a hidden oasis for craft spirit lovers and cocktail adventurers alike. With its unique concept, carefully curated menu, and intimate setting, it offers a refreshing alternative to Singapore’s more mainstream nightlife. It’s not just a place to drink—it’s a place to discover, sip, and savor.

This is Definitely one of the best cocktail bar I've been in south east Asia! The Secret Mermaid is an awesome speak easy that actually toke us around 10 minutes to find. The cocktail we're great, I specially enjoyed a cocktail made with carrot juice and bourbon. They also offers happy hour discount on many cocktails from the menu from 17:00-19:00. Expect for the cocktail we really enjoyed the proficiency and the great hospitality of the bartenders. Since they got a lot of boutique and unique whiskeys we decided to get a flight. At first they asked which spirits we like so they can suit us the right sorts of spirits. We tasted some really nice whiskys and bourbons, every bottle had really interesting story behind it and it was just amazing to hear and enjoy the spirits. At the end they even let us tasted a really good rum and tequila! Everything in that place was done perfectly with a friendly and warm atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Somewhat hidden, intimate and edgy cool vibe Secret Mermaid is truly one of SG urban feel bar experience. From the basic American spirits to the more specialized .. they’ve got it all! The space is cleverly designed, the focus of attention is of course..The Wall which holds a wide range of Gin and Whiskey ..but the true stars are Don &Kelly who run the show.. they work the bar so smoothly. They are extremely knowledgeable and professional, friendly yet not over friendly. Epic French fries .. huge portion so get ready! It comes with yummy tartar sauce on the side. From the more Chique among us get the oysters they are amazingly fresh and perfectly chilled. Yes, at the end of the evening you will find yourself singing 60’s and 70’s American classics w other bar visitors. Things to note: -Public Bathrooms are located at outside of the Bar 1 min walk. - The music (first part of the night) could have been better. They played heavy metal / hard rock. I would have preferred to listed to some lounge / chill tunes. (But then it got better w the American classics ) - getting there .. look for “Paul” cafe go behind it , there’s an escalator, take it down (metro level) then turn left .. keep waking it’ll be on your right. Definitely recommend to make reservations in advance. Limited seats available.
