The Sense Experience Resort (Grosseto, Tuscany) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Yes, this is Tuscany, but not the Tuscany of vineyards and olive groves — this is the Maremma, the province’s seaside region, which presents to travelers an altogether different face. The Sense Experience Resort is set amid pine trees by the beach, just outside the village of Follonica. And while its weathered stone construction is a reminder of Tuscany’s deep history, what lies inside is a luxurious, health-conscious eco-resort that’s as modern as they come." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at The Sense was truly delightful. The entire team was exceptionally kind and professional, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout our visit. A heartfelt thank-you goes to Manuela, whose thoughtful assistance and attention to detail made our stay unforgettable. She went above and beyond to ensure every small request was met with care. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Elena, whose radiant smile and graceful, relaxed manner made us feel immediately at ease. Thanks to the wonderful staff, our time at The Sense was both comfortable and memorable. We look forward to returning and can only give our highest recommendation.

The hotel is austere and modern in appearance - very much in contrast to traditional Italian architecture, but it grows on you. Front sea position is the best in the entire area and the entrance to the water is sandy and most pleasant. Water very clear. Breakfasts are very nice, lunches were adequate and dinner was good. The rooms are ok, but a bit dated and quite modest for 5 stars. To go around and to visit landmarks, old towns, vineyards you will need to have a car or use taxis, it's not a step away. I would highly recommend by relaxing few days by the sea.

We chose this hotel to enable us to have some rest time after driving around Tuscany. Perfect choice. Everything about it was relaxing - from the beautiful breakfast to the lovely touch of turning down your bed at night. No getting up early for sunbeds as you are given the same one for your whole stay. A lovely gentle 20 min bike ride (bikes free from hotel) into the cute town for alternative eating options (restaurants within hotel are pricey but as you would expect at a 5* hotel). Beautiful clean beach. Wonderful two nights here and would definitely come again.

Our family of 4 booked a quadruple room for 4 nights in August.|Check in was easy and we were quickly shown to our room which was spotless and had a large comfortable double bed and bunk beds for our 2 young adults, which was brilliant.|The whole hotel had great WiFi, also very important to our teenagers. |Breakfast was a lovely buffet with lots of choice, all of the waiters and restaurant staff were polite and lovely and could not do enough for us. Every meal, cocktail and ice cream was delicious. |My only gripe was the sunbed situation on the beach where the hotel wanted to allocate us a space and 4 people were expected to share one umbrella and two sunbeds. There appeared to be a hierarchical system of which row your room type could go on, holding other spaces for families who may not (and did not) even show at the beach all day. When I asked the staff to help us they did so clearly grudgingly, quickly removing the “privilege” on our last day where I was then left dragging beds around the beach with no help at all. At £550 a night I would have expected better service at the beach, it certainly left a bad taste in what was otherwise impeccable service. I would happily recommend the hotel to others, I just feel the beach situation should be modernised and improved.

I can’t say enough good things about our experience here. Notably though was our time with Alessandra, the front desk manager. My family and I ran into an issue with our car, making it hard for us to make it back to the hotel from the town. She went above and beyond and helped us get back safely and with such care. She’s truly a gem and it speaks to the level of guest services at this resort. Would highly recommend!

We had a nice stay at The Sense Resort, but since we are often visiting 4 and 5 star hotels, we can already compare quality and services. The positive things: nice location, beach, free access to kajak and sup, good cocktails, nice staff and the bar and restaurant, rooms are clean, bikes are available. Excellent breakfast with a lot of variety. To improve: - food at the restaurant: I would never take half board, food is so much better (and cheaper) in the restaurants of Follonica - this is a bit sad, we would have stayed more if food would have been better (too much salt, no sauce or tomatoes in the pasta while there should be, steak not ok following Tuscan standards,…) - bikes: bikes are not taken care of… we had dirty pants and shoes because of the grease, lights are broken so dangerous in the evening, I had one with a broken wheel,… one day I needed to give my room number, other days not… one day someone joined me to chose a good bike, other days I just received some random keys. Number of the bike you need to walk around and check every lock to know which one is yours… this could all be easily improved to a more professional service. - friendliness/understanding at reception: asked for my opinion about our stay and I also filled in the online survey after day 1 ‘first impression’ but no reaction. Just an ‘ok, have a good trip’ - car parking: it’s under trees so car gets dirty from trees and bird sh*t which I don’t like Missing: - no wellness/spa, pool is not at an attractive location - explanation about joga sessions etc (we discovered this on our last day) - info should be given at arrival - more space to put clothes, in the standard room there’s almost no closet space, which is uncomfortable if you’re staying for a week with quite some clothes It’s a bit sad to say, because this hotel has a lot of potential but is in my opinion not worth 5* in it’s current state.

We went here to celebrate a special occasion and wanted to chill and unwind. This was perfect and the staff, service and food amongst the best I have experienced in a while. Born of a vision the family that run it are actively involved and it shows. Lovely room with a sea view (essential) great beach extensive facilities. Lots of activities on offer. We took bikes out and cycles the coast line on a bike path. The celebratory dinner at Eate was nothing short of superb. Only thing lacking was no spa.
