The Service at 1921 House

Came here for my 60th birthday as it had been recommended. There were 5 in our party (myself, my wife, our adult son and a two friends). From the outset we were impressed - it’s situated within the lovely Anantara Hotel and is a stand alone old wooded building full of history. I understand (but can be corrected) that it was previously used by the British Govt. Hence, there is a lot of memorabilia and photos on the wall including stuff relating to spying. Getting back to the food. By son only ordered two entrees - bone marrow and steak tartare. I tasted both and they were delicious. We ordered two calamari to share as a starter. Our friends ordered lamb rack to share whilst my wife and I shared a rib eye. We also ordered fat chips and creamed spinach with cheddar cheese. Two of us shared a lovely bottle of Argentinian Malbec. At then end of the meal the staff presented me with a small but delicious birthday cake. The service was great - unobtrusive yet efficient and friendly. It is not the cheapest restaurant, but it is not overly expensive. I found it great value for the quality of the food, the surroundings and the service. I would definitely come again.

We had a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere was quiet and not crowded — a perfect place for a special occasion. We went on my birthday without a reservation, but next time, I’ll definitely book in advance. One fun touch was choosing a steak knife from a suitcase — such a unique and memorable detail🧳 The food was excellent, especially the meat. It looked like lean beef, but it was incredibly tender and juicy. The lobster, however, was a bit disappointing. I honestly didn’t realize it was lobster at first — it felt like the meat had been abducted by a UFO made of pasta. That said, the sauce was absolutely delicious. I’d love to come back here for our next celebration.

My wife and I were looking at trying something new and came across this top steak house on Google. It’s located inside the Antara and like everything else in this resort, it was top tier. My wife really enjoyed the dry aged burger while I had THE most tender picanha steak, cooked perfectly. After an amazing meal upstairs, while being taken care of by the amazing Ann, she brought us downstairs for dessert and some live music. We will be coming back before leaving CM 🙏

Thank you to the front of the house staff for such an amazing service during our dinner. We had so much food and unfortunately had no room for desserts! Everything we had from the menu were absolutely delicious but if I had to pick a favourite it would have been the pork chop, it just blended with the mustard, apple glaze and the chips perfectly. Again thanks to all the staff for such a memorable dining experience. I look forward to our next visit.

I was looking for a place in Chiang Mai that had a nice steak to celebrate my birthday. I had a few options and recommendations from friends but I went with my gut. I chose this gem hiding in a beautiful hotel. I seen a picture of the bone marrow appetizer and that caused me to take a look at the menu. I found what I wanted. It was an excellent dinning experience.

I wanted to go eat a steak and this is the place that most people recommended. Located in the super exclusive Anantara resort, the restaurant, with it's wooden decor and dimly little aesthetic can take you back by a few decades. I had the Australian wagyu, medium rare while my partner had the beef cheek papperdelle and both of us shared a grilled bone marrow. Brilliant stuff. Would highly recommend

Had my birthday dinner there. It’s such a quiet and pleasant environment to be. And the best service ever in Thai. Den and Poppy are the best. They looked after us and made us have such a pleasant dinner.

1921 House is hands down the best steakhouse I’ve been to in Thailand, an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Set within the elegant Anantara Resort, the restaurant occupies what used to be the British Consulate over a century ago. The vintage British-style interiors add a charming historical touch to the ambiance. Service was exceptional, attentive, warm, and refined. One particularly unique detail was the knife selection experience, where I got to choose my own steak knife. The A4 wagyu steak, cooked medium-well, was absolutely phenomenal, tender, flavorful, and arguably the best steak I’ve ever had. Don’t miss the spiced calamari appetizer, it’s a must. This dinner was truly special, and I will 100% be coming back. Highly recommended. Khob Khun Krab 🙏
