We only spent one night here but we loved it! ||The decor is elegant and fits tastefully in with the campus architecture and the surrounding forest. Very clean with very nice furnishings (the bed was GREAT!). They were sprucing up the hallways…a good sign they intend to keep their standards high!||The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and even provided what is now an “old fashioned” service: an evening turndown!||The service for breakfast was also excellent but the food was a mixed bag. My Sewanee Inn Breakfast was good but my wife described her Eggs Benedict as “looking microwaved”! ||We are looking forward to another visit soon!!

We had an incredible stay at The Sewanee Inn a couple of weekends ago while in town for a wedding. Both Sewanee and the Inn exceeded our expectations in every way. This was truly one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in—the staff was exceptional, the property impeccable, the food delicious, and housekeeping outstanding. The lavender cookies with turndown service each night were such a thoughtful touch. The Inn itself is beautiful—like a cozy, well-designed living room or a refined home library. The peaceful surroundings made it the perfect spot for a weekend getaway or quiet staycation. We were already planning our next visit before we even left. Kudos to management and the entire team—The Sewanee Inn is a true gem.

I got a room for my daughter ...went in to look at the rooms and its a beautiful place on the golf course...Matthew at the front desk is very nice and polite and helpful...I only live about 40 minutes from here ...I hope to stay here sometime.

Stayed one night after dropping our daughter at a Sewanee camp. The Inn is solid—clean, comfortable, and in a great location. We had a king room with a nice view of the golf course. Good bar setup too. Grabbed a glass of wine and sat outside for a bit, which was a great way to wind down. Had dinner at Shakerag and it didn’t disappoint. Food was excellent and our server was genuinely friendly—just knew how to handle a table. After dinner, we walked down to Green’s View. Super quiet and peaceful. All in all, a great place to stay if you’re in Sewanee.

We had a great stay here at Sewanee Inn. We stopped while passing through for one night but have discussed coming back to stay again. We loved the rustic charm. It was quiet and cozy but not so far that it took forever to get to. The stay was very friendly as well. Our meal in their dining room was excellent. It was the little touches throughout the inn that also gave it that feeling of being pampered.

We came here for our anniversary this weekend and the hotel is beautiful!!! We loved it. Also such a sweet and nice surprise to be given a beautiful food charcuterie for our anniversary.

The Sewanee Inn has amazing scenic views, wonderful dining and an extraordinarily fun bar. We go to Shakerag almost every week and enjoy the camaraderie and excellent service at the bar. Everyone visiting Sewanee or Monteagle should check it out.

We like this place and if you want somewhere nice near Sewanee it is the only game in town. We have now stayed around 6 times and will keep going back. They have lovely swallows and other birds zipping around the porches where you can sit and sip coffee (which is always available in the lobby). The rooms are super comfortable with nice layout and amenities. Excellent water pressure on the shower. Always a couple of bottles of water for you to take out on your adventures. We don’t golf but we do hike and with The Domain you won’t run out of trails. Great views only a short walk away. I would say that the only downside is that it tends to be on the pricy side.

A beautiful property with first-class service. Old-world charm and craftsmanship...hard to believe they are celebrating only 10 years. Spotless and comfortable...and incredibly convenient to University of the South.

This building is stunning. We journeyed here on a crisp fall day. I can only imagine how gorgeous this is with a coating of snow. Parking is aplenty with a large private lot. We arrived right at the first seating for dinner on a Sunday. Our waiter was lovely. The decor was beautiful. The old lodge feel of the place is very cozy. The only reason I removed a star is the food. Nothing was revolutionary. Food was fine.

This small hotel is really gorgeous. Self parking in a large lot to the side of the hotel. Everything about the hotel is upscale, the common areas are really upscale and classy, and that carries over to the rooms. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant and went out of their way to ensure our stay was flawless. We had the pleasure of staying in an executive king suite. Large bedroom, really big bathroom, and a large separate living space. Two sofas in the living room. Unfortunately they were not comfortable - they were fold out sofa beds and sank really far down. Otherwise the furniture, as throughout the hotel, was very high quality and nicely maintained. Two desks, one behind each sofa. Wet bar and fridge. Easy to connect Chromecast or other devices to the tv. Curtains don't close in the living space, though there are sheers for privacy. Fortunately there's a door so the bedroom can be kept very dark. Rooms can be kept reasonably cold. Large walk in shower, the bath is made accessible with grab bars everywhere, which I really didn't mind. Generous supply of quality towels. The suite had a large wrap around patio with three sets of rocking chairs and side table at each turn. Unfortunately, most of the large patio primarily faces the busy road, only a small section right by the door to the patio faces the golf course. Breakfast each morning was in the restaurant, simple continental, with a hot tray - one morning sausage and biscuits, another bacon and french toast. So really a decent start for your day. We enjoyed the stay very much, though on our next visit I think we'd switch to the deluxe king room. Though it's smaller and without a separate living space, those rooms are more facing the golf course, which is very pleasant, and still have private patios or balconies.

I have not stayed at the Sewanee Inn, but I did visit friends and have breakfast. The Inn is beautifully directed and located in walking distance of the main campus. Our waitress was very personable and patient especially when we had a large group with several members joining after the main orders were placed. Regarding the food, there was an extensive selection of breakfast options literally something for everyone. I ordered the oatmeal which came in a nice sized bowl with a side of strawberries, and almonds to mix in. Everyone at our table was pleased with their meals. Next time I visit Sewanee, I plan to stay at the Inn.

I was back at Sewanee Inn this week for a 2 day work meeting so I got to stay at this lovely establishment. The rooms are large I was in a double and there was a desk and chair so it was easy to have a guest in the room and not feel like you had to sit on a bed. The balcony had two comfy rocking chairs and a view of the golf course. I wish it had been a bit warmer so I could have enjoyed this more. They have a lovely turn down service that has yummy homemade cookies and a handwritten note providing staff names for the evening and weather info for the next day. Had breakfast in the restaurant and it was warm friendly service with a site of southern charm. I had a thick cut slice of country ham, scrambled eggs and fabulous creamy grits. Good eats at a reasonable price. I must say that my biggest take away was the amazing staff. From the front desk manager to the person who held the door open for me when I left every staff member was AMAZING! In this day and age when I feel like customer service is a lost art, it was so wonderful to see helpful smiling employees at every turn. The fireplace and Christmas decorations were wonderful homey touches. If you are in this part of the world this is a very nice place to stay.

Very clean. The people were friendly and the area is very quiet. There are nice walking trails to explore, and the patio is relaxing. The only downside is there is not a pool on property. It's great for a quiet getaway or golfing.

I must take a minute to thank the absolutely wonderful staff at the Sewanee Inn, they are amazing! They made our visit to the area delightful and the special touches I received celebrating my birthday made the experience unforgettable. Southern hospitality is no myth, they are the living proof. Such an amazing place. Quiet, secluded. Inviting. Beautiful. We only came through for work, but such a treat to stay here for such as short while. Hats off to the owners and everyone who works there!

Caden was very respectful opening the door. He helped us move our bags inside and directed us to our room. He also gave us very good dinner recommendations

I have been calling for over a half hour to try and order from the restaurant. Apparently they are not interested in that.

We loved our stay here! The service, accommodations and food were impeccable. We were so impressed we brought more family back the same week after a mother daughter weekend. I also love the small city of Sewannee for food and activities.

Southern Hospitality at its finest. Best place to stay for hiking the south Cumberland, University of the South, & the Caverns. We were here 3 nights and it was great to explore the area with a back roads pilgrimage to Jack Daniels. Justin and John at the bar were very helpful and made sure we had what we needed. Rooms are clean and modern with cookies @ turn-down service. Would definitely stay again!

My husband and I live in Chattanooga and we recently met family at The Sewanee Inn for dinner. Our extended family lives in Nashville, so we are always looking for places to meet up. Since Monteagle is located about halfway between Chattanooga and Nashville, it was that perfect spot! We did not stay at the inn, but everyone enjoyed the restaurant. The service was great and the menu had a lot of delicious options. We shared a cheese board that was the highlight of my meal! After dinner we walked around the grounds and enjoyed the beautiful evening. It was a lovely place to catch up with family without feeling rushed. I'm sure we'll choose this place to meet again.

Shared a relaxing weekend getaway in middle January from Nashville "on the mountin" to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. Booked a few months in advance, I did mention that we were visiting in celebration. We were surprised to find a welcoming romantic treat in our room waiting for us. To me, the little things matter. Driving through the Sewanee fog, we arrived at the inn. The decor is warm and thoughtful. Plush chairs in the salon and heavy leather seating profile the double-open fireplace as the focal point of the lobby. The staff welcomed us swiftly with smiles. Our room had all the necessary amenities and we immediately felt at home. My favorite part about the inn was the selection of art down the corridors of rooms and wood features. Apparently it is "very Sewanee" whatever that means. We ate breakfast at the restaurant (buffet and Cumberland Skillet ordered -- and would again--) and at night sat at the bar with other visitors drinking burbon. Beyond friendly! In sum, I'd certainly stay here again. Pleased all around!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sewanee Inn. The service was so friendly and inviting and helpful. Our room was perfect in every way (even down to the delicious cookies they left for us each evening). And we enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner -- very good food in a nice atmosphere. One of our favorite (and unexpected) parts of our stay was the very nice sitting room next to the fire place. We loved this quiet, comfortable place to have a drink, chat, and enjoy the fireside. We'd definitely stay again!

Beautiful Inn! Rustic charm, delightful staff, and pure loveliness. It's the perfect romantic getaway. Great golf course too. Multiple fireplaces and excellent decor. Old world luxury, but fresh and new feeling. Books abound to read in the lobby in front of the main fireplace. They really landed what they were going for with sincerity. We plan on staying here once a year.

The Inn is wonderful and the staff was very attentive, but the bartender embarrassed my friend who brought back her wine that did not meet her expectations. Not appropriate customer service.

I always have a good experience at the Sewanee inn restaurant. The duck confit is terrific. The charcuterie board and desserts are wonderful too. It's a sophisticated departure from the college town grub on the domain.

It's an ok resort. No bathtub... only a shower. Beds are comfy. Room is clean. Staff seems very friendly. It's quiet. I had a room with a patio facing the golf course. That was nice. Wasn't a fan of the restaurant. There's no "normal" food on the menu so not good for kids I suspect. And no food places deliver to the Inn either. Overall it's quiet and a good place for a small business retreat.

When my wife and I could not find a room in Manchester TN we drove on to Monteagle. After reading a review about Sewanee Inn we decided to give it a try. This Inn is really elegant and worth the extra dollars. Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, great views and located in a really quaint setting. The restaurant was very good and so was the service. Not normally our stopping point but we may need to change our travel plans the next time through just to stop here.

My husband and I have stayed here for the last several years to celebrate our anniversary. Each time we have found the accommodations to be lovely and the customer service to be unparalleled--seriously, I have never stayed anywhere that takes care of its guests as well as the Sewanee Inn does. Highly recommend!!!

Wonderful! I reserved over 30 rooms for our daughter's wedding. We were there for the better part of a week, with our guests using every imaginable configuration of room, from small to two-room hospitality suites. The old inn needed demolishing apparently, and they did just that. The inn is mansion-like, with cathedral ceilings in the lobby, upscale reception table (not a counter), 24/7 coffee or water/lemonade available, public sitting room, business center (one PC), and lots of staff. Right on the golf course. Solid construction - dead quiet. The Inn is owned by the University of the South (aka "Sewanee") and they should be rightfully proud of what their construction group, architect, landscapers, and the new management company have done. We experienced some punch-list items, but they'll all done by now (finishing the turf, touch-ups here and there). The staff was over-the-top helpful and did their utmost when their newness showed. Lunch and dinner are coming. Not sure about room service, which was not available these first 2 weeks. The hotel is semi-green: toilets have a special green lever for "light" use, but there was no signage to avoid towels being washed every day, which some granola folks like me prefer. Cell vs WiFi: The Sewanee campus is notorious for lousy cell service. The Inn has the fastest WiFi I've ever experienced: use Skype via WiFi as an alternative. Pros: tremendous re-launch of a University icon. Stately, quiet, eager service Cons: the closets are too small and, in the largest rooms, appear to be solely for disabled persons (i.e. there are no hangers above 3' off the ground - not helpful for gowns).

Truly wonderful. This is a hidden gem of an experience for many reasons, yet the hotel, bar. & restaurant are really great. We only wish they'd lit the amazing, double sided fireplace in the lobby, so we'll just have to go back. Yes, it does cost a bit more, yet trust us, it's well worth it!

What a wonderful surprise! We needed a place to stay midway on a drive between Chicago and Clearwater. As always, Yelp and Trip Advisor have served me well. This beautiful inn is nestled in the lush forests north of Chattanooga. The grounds are lovely, and the decor of the inn itself is so classy and rich.The staff is very attentive, and the rate per night is quite reasonable considering the accommodations...a true gem!

This is THE place to stay when visiting University of the South. Looking for a place to stay between Chattanooga and Nashville that gives you access to the rugged outdoors? Choose the Sewanee Inn. The hotel is beautiful and elegant and you are steps away from great hiking.

We used the inn for a catered brunch for a group of 40. The coordinating staff/management were very helpful and accommodating when personal touches were requested. Full service wait staff, and audio/visual set up were all excellent. Would highly recommend!

Our room was quite nice. Dinner in the shakerag pub was no good. Incredibly slow. I ordered the pear salad with baby greens and it arrived after one hour with NO PEAR SLICES on it! They forgot the pear. I would not recommend this place for dinner.
