The Shack

What a treat! We came to the Shack for our 7th wedding anniversary and had the best time. The fish was excellent...squid, scallops, prawns, oysters, crabs, muscles...all were amazing. A lovely atmosphere with welcoming, friendly staff. Reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. You have to book, we watched so many people being turned away. Thank you for a great experience. We highly recommend a visit :)

Excellent service and stunning seafood!! Our waiter Max was brilliantly resourceful. Booking ahead is a must. After trying to eat here on our first wander around Falmouth and to find it fully booked, we went online and found a table at lunch time a few days later. Result! Super glad we went as the food was stunning. My friends had the crab sandwich and I had the dressed Cornish crab - freshly caught that morning. I had no idea dressed crab could taste that good. It was perfect! Being a little hungover we asked if they served Bloody Mary's and thankfully Max our waiter had a winning recipe at hand. It was definitely one of the best, perfectly spiced Bloody Mary's I've ever had - and I've had a lot. So that was a brilliant cherry at the top of an already excellent cake for our experience at The Shack. If you're looking to eat fresh seafood and have excellent service that goes above and beyond - look no further.

What a friendly and inviting place. Always book but when you get in here, spend the money and get the recommendations! The staff know what they're talking about. We were celebrating our recent engagement and they went above and beyond. The chef's know how to cook well and the food is filling. 100% recommend.

An absolutely brilliant experience! My partner and I had the oyster, dressed crab with salad and aioli sauce, and the haddock and chips which were absolutely delicious. You could tell the ingredients were freshly prepared and the dishes were full of flavour. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly. Good value for money. Would come back again and recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We just went to the Shack last night for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were overwhelmed by the exceptional service the gentleman provided. They made our 10th anniversary especially memorable. We tried to say thanks again before we left but the gentleman was too busy back by the kitchen and we were rushing for a movie. My husband's steak was cooked to perfection. The amount of my seafood starter and main were so generous! I was so full. I loved their homemade seafood dip which was so tasty. I personally would love more flavour with the mussels and the whole crab. But they were still very nice. I'll definitely try the seafood platter for 2/3 to share when we bring our girls next time because my husband doesn't eat seafood! Anyway, thanks so much for being a highlight of our 10th anniversary! 💕

Absolutely fabulous! Friendly service, laid back atmosphere and most importantly delicious food. We were really blown away by the exceptional quality and taste of the food and will definitely be returning. A real gem!

Our first meal in Cornwall and certainly one of the most memorable, service was amazing and the staff were so accommodating, we sat outside since it was a full house inside but asked to move tables closer to the entrance of the restaurant where it was a bit warmer and they gave us blankets too. We ordered the seafood platter for 3 and an extra side of calamari and was concerned it wasn’t going to be enough but we were oh so wrong - this magnificent spread of seafood could feed 4 easily as we couldn’t even finish it and had to take some home. Everything was just so delicious, especially the scallops and mussels in white wine sauce and the huge crab which was briny and meaty. You definitely get your moneys worth coming here, and will leave happily stuffed! We will visit again when we come back to Cornwall!

Arrived. Seated quickly. Waitresses seemed stressed. I ordered nachos. I saw my nachos placed u der heating lamps while my guests waited for their more complex dishes to be done. And there my nachos sat, and sat. Other dishes arrived. All three of the dishes my guests had were "wonderful" they said. My nachos arrived cold.

this review is for THE RANCH restaurant 2 oct 2021 cant find a listing for the ranch fab steak filet meal perfectly cooked great wine the starter was smoked mackeral pate mmmm gorg with a little pickle on the side was delish i loved the chips with the steak frites they are termed house red was fruity and light onion rings were good crispy brie for starter was very fresh and hot £98 starters and mains 4 drinks it was great servers were very friendly and chatty

We went here for our year anniversary and loved the food! The pasta wasn't Salted but every other dish we had we so good! Oysters, desserts, Prawns - all amazing.

We pre ordered lobster which was expertly cooked and presented. Everyone was enthusing about their food, we had a lovely evening. The service & ambience were also commendable.

A great little find just outside the Maritime museum in Falmouth. We stumbled inside on a wet and windy day (the rain was coming past in horizontal sheets and you couldn't see the other side of the harbour). The shack was our shelter in the storm! It smelt amazing as we came inside - the special of the day was smoked haddock chowder and you could smell the smoked fish and richness of the soup. We ordered some white wine and oysters to start. The oysters were fantastic - fresh, large and creamy and went beautifully with the Sauvignon Blanc. For mains our party was split - 2 had smoked haddock chowder (including me), 2 had the crab linguine and 2 had the mussels and frites. The chowder was as good as the smell! Tasty chunks of haddock, potato and carrot in a creamy soup served with chunky fresh bread. The crab linguine was with garlic, shallots, chili and the local St Ives crab (you could get dressed or fresh cooked crab as well - just get in early as they only had 3 small crabs left when we got there at 1pm). Suffice to say my sisters loved their linguine!, although they did note that the heat built with the chilli. The mussels and frites also went down well. Served traditionally with a white wine stock and finger bowl to rinse afterwards (not to drink! Sorry dad joke...) the leftover stock was used to dip both frites and bread in to soak it up. After our lunch we were left replete and the rain has stopped - so on to the Maritime museum!

Wow! Spent two days in Falmouth and went there twice. Incredibly good seafood. First we ate the mixed platter, that comes with a little bit of everything. Second night we had the fresh lobster, fantastic. The service was great and lovely. Price was adequate for the good quality you get. One of the best seafood places I have been. Everything fits. Food, Service, Location. It's definitely five stars!

this place is GREAT. what a find!!!!! food was delicious, portions ample, service lovely, wine list was fine prices reasonable. a wonderful place to dine while here in Falmouth, Cornwall. GREAT PLACE and i don't write reviews unless i am really pleased or not :-( but do come here and dine

we were pleased and disappointed at the same time. we order the share platter for 2 which was a lo of money. It was lovely but was let down by the cold watery crab that had been sitting in the fridge rather than cooked fresh and the burnt fried prawns . i did complain and only received a sorry about that , he did offer to replace them but we were to full to bother. he didn't take anything off the bill though. the resturant seemed fairly clean.

Can't speak highly enough of The Shack, amazing food, warm and friendly atmosphere, good prices. Always love it here and look forward to my next visit.
