At the beginning of our holiday in Koh Samui, we took a stroll into Fisherman’s Village to find somewhere for dinner. With so many restaurants, it was difficult to make a selection but the Shack had a special vibe which made it appeal to us. Though it appeared to be fully booked, the owner welcomed us in and seated us at the bar.
Shortly after we arrived a lovely big table became available and we switched places - from no reservation to being seated right in the middle of the restaurant. How accommodating!
Despite being very busy, the service is steady and the quality of the food is exceptional. I ordered one of my favourite dishes to start - beef carpaccio and can safely say that it is one of the best I have ever had on account of the quality of the beef which is served in generous portions!
Due to the extensive menu, it was difficult to make a choice but my husband and I opted for the steak which comes with a choice of sides and sauces. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the chimichurri sauce is phenomenal and it is very reasonably priced for the amount of food, as well as the quality.
The team actively engage with guests throughout their meal checking on their needs and making them feel welcomed. There really is a special vibe which is difficult to find elsewhere.
We were so impressed that we returned later in our holiday for a second meal (we never usually do this) and I’m so glad we did! We took our chances again and turned up without a reservation. The planets aligned and a table left upon our arrival. We ordered the special Surf and Turf after seeing it arrive for another customer. A sumptuous feast of steak, scallops, lobster, chips and coleslaw…it was such a memorable meal and another wonderful experience. Huge thanks to the team at the Shack for making us feel so welcomed and for exquisite food.
