So grateful Shanty Cafe was open at 6am, as we had to catch the CAT Ferry very early and the other coffee and breakfast shops didn't open until 7am. We ordered food ahead so we could pick it all up and head straight to the Ferry.
The two ladies working the morning shift were super friendly and cheerful, and packed everything up very nicely (also provided plastic ware, napkins, jam, etc - they didn't forget a thing!)
The only reason I gave them three stars was because honestly, the food was not spectacular. The french toast was quite bland, a bit over cooked and greasy. The tortilla verde was pretty good. The coffee smelled wonderful but was a touch weak.
In any event, it's a lively neighborhood spot. They have a shop next door that sells novelty items and art. We were in a rush so unfortunately didn't get to check it out although they had some items on display in the coffee shop.
