If you ever get to Gatehouse of Fleet, and it's a great place to get to, you should consider staying at The Ship Inn. Our room was a very good size with everything to a high standard making it very comfortable. We received a warm welcome and the staff were always helpful. We found plenty to choose from on the menu in the restaurant in the evening and had a very enjoyable meal. It's very popular and so can get busy, even mid-week, so it's probably best to book before arrival. Breakfast was excellent too. It's not cheap, the room or the restaurant, but it's good, and it is also pet-friendly (for a charge!)

Firstly, I would like to say how much we enjoyed our two nights in Room 2. We were welcomed warmly, and the room was very comfortable, and both the room and the spotless bathroom had opening windows - a rarity in contemporary hotels. ||Secondly, luckily, the sun was out and I enjoyed a delicious beer on the decking in the beer garden.||Thirdly, our food was truly delicious with very generous portions, in fact sometimes too generous and always prepared perfectly. The breakfasts, especially, were very tasty and cooked just the way we liked them. and the servers always helpful and polite. ||All in all, a most enjoyable break, and we shall certainly be returning.

Visiting for a friends wedding at the nearby GG's Yard, we booked into the Ship Inn for a couple of nights. On arrival we were met by very friendly reception staff. After checking in, we went up to our room, located on the first floor overlooking the front door onto the street. The room was very well apportioned with a modern bathroom. All aspects of the hotel were clean as it looked as though a recent refurbishment had taken place. We had breakfast in the dinning room on both mornings and the breakfasts were excellent with a good selection. On checking out, we were asked by the reception staff if we required assistance with our bags, something you don't here very often. Thanks for an enjoyable stay

An idyllic spot in a peaceful village. Our room was very clean, modern and well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our meal in the restaurant and the food was delicious, however the service, while very friendly was a little haphazard and disorganised. We were not served the bottle of wine we had ordered until after we had finished our starters and then had to ask for it to be opened as it was just left on the table. We were treated to beautiful sunny weather during our stay and the beer garden by the river is an absolute delight, although the £2 deposit for a plastic cup is a bit weird when you're not allowed glass outside anyway. Minor things which did not detract too much from our stay, all in all it was thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend.

We were in area for a family wedding so booked the Ship Inn for overnight stay. From the very first moment of booking they were very helpful and very quick with responses to requests . We needed an earlier book in which was no problem ,there was an extra charge but was well worth it. We paid for a garden view room which had a lovely view over beer garden ,lovely big room big comfy bed, great shower with toiletries, tea coffee making facilities with plenty of different teas and coffees. Breakfast was fabulous, lots of choice and the cooked part again plenty of choice ,well cooked and good quality, staff were lovely and very helpful with any requests We sadly didn't get to have an evening meal but there was a varied menu and the pub itself has a lovely interior with nice atmosphere .Plenty of parking outside and a lovely area to explore,we will definitely come back. Thank you

The room we stayed in at this hotel exceeded my expectations it appeared spacious and recently refurbished and even had a coffee pod machine so was more luxurious than our usual choices and was well worth paying a bit more for. The restaurant had good quality and value for money meals with very friendly service. The location is excellent at the heart of a village which has a lot of redeeming features. I would love to return here one day.

Just spent 3 nights at the ship inn. Hubby was riding in the gralloch gravel race. We took our cocker spaniel who was made just as welcome as us and even received her own goodie bag! Staff were fantastic. Food absolutely delicious. Everyone so accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Johnathan and Sarah the owners of the hotel were absolutely wonderful and again very welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again as plenty to do even if you don’t do the gravel ride. Local small beach was worth a visit too.

Fantastic staff,at short notice they accommodated our very large dog at busy dinner service with no drama. They reseated us to a quieter area so the dog had room and didn't get in the way of other diners enjoying their meal.Fantastic meal and great service provided by Martin and his fellow staff.Highly recommended
