Stay far away from The Shire Hotel in Rome. We booked our Rome visits to stay 2 nights at this hotel. Upon arrival on June 21, 2025 we noticed our room was a bit hot. The temperatures outside were over 90 degrees and as we later found out the air conditioning in the hotel was not working. We reached out to the management and they did nothing. We could not stay in this uncomfortable room so we were forced to leave and find another hotel. I had prepaid for the 2 nights via Booking.com and received basically no refund. The hotel offer a voucher for a future visit that would expire in 6 months and i told them no that i wanted my money back. The hotel refused. Terrible management and terrible filthy hotel.

Wonderful boutique hotel. We stayed in a corner suite and it was as charming as the website presented it to be. Clean & comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Yes, street noise but it didn’t bother us. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved this stay. We got our room upgraded and it was a wonderful room. Everything clean and nice. Lovely breakfast. We dont have anything negative to say about this lovely hotel. And a special thanks to Milena in the reception, so friendly and nice. Thank you <3

Cannot recommend. Summer heat was far too much for their HVAC. We were given a space fan but this wasn’t any help as our room was stifling hot. Days unbearable. Nights were sleepless. Other guests complained at breakfast so it was true in all rooms.

The staff couldn't have been more thoughtful and helpful. Lovely rooms and a quiet street in Rome next to a park. Perfect.

Cute boutique hotel with spacious rooms, accessible location and a small breakfast buffet. Entry is a bit obscured and hard to find unless you're paying attention 😅 helpful staff are there to assist.

First impression. Hotel hard to find. There is a tiny sign to the right of the door we did not notice. You have to ring a buzzer to be let in. You hear a voice hard to comprehend over the intercom and are buzzed in. Luckily a waitress at the restaurant next door showed us the entry. Even Uber drivers had a hard time finding it when dropping and picking us up. We were taken to the Marriott across the street. Worst of all is the unbearable heat. Stay here if you want to be tortured and stay in a sweat box. We stayed here the last night of our 12 day vacation. All I can say is thank goodness we did not have to suffer here for more than 1 night. I know the AC in Europe could not be as powerful as American hotels. However, we stayed at 3 other hotels in Italy and did not experience this. To make matters worse the electricity only works when key inserted into control on the wall. Normally I would leave my extra travel battery pack and rechargeable travel fan plugged in when I leave the room. That is not a possibility at this hotel. I had the worst night sleep of my vacation and woke up drenched in sweat and would sweat just walking around the room. Never would I ever stay here again. And cannot in all good conscience recommend to anyone.
