On the Grid : The Shops at Eviction

"What you’ll find at this eclectic collective of vintage goods: a pair of funky lamps, a sleek mid-century modern dresser, a life-sized brass Pomeranian. What you won’t find: anything ordinary. Owner Derrick scoured the region’s estate sales and auctions to curate his shop’s odd yet refined assortment of wares. He’s inspired by bright pops of color and anything animal-themed, making The Shops at Eviction a must-stop location for any home enthusiast in need of unique furniture and decor." - The Frontier Project

Absolutely love this place! I've shopped here for years but our experience yesterday was worth sharing. I took my mom out for her first shopping trip post a major surgery. It was the first pretty spring day so everyone was out and the store was packed. Despite the crowds, the owner treated us like we were the only people in the store. Never frazzled, going out of her way to help us find items that we were looking for and making calls to other locations to track down a shirt that my mom wanted. The service that we had yesterday will keep us coming back for years to come! Kudos to you all and thank you!

Lots of gifts/stuff for girls and/or babies Great place. Their products obviously will change as time passes, each booth is run separately and stock changes all the time. Good spot to check out.

My FAVORITE little shop in Richmond! I can always find the perfect little gift for Christmas, trinket for a friends or a fabulous pair of earrings when I need to get something for myself!!!! My only complaint is they would grow the size of their sales floor!

I was coming in from out of town for Easter and I needed an Easter basket for my daughter. I called RVYay Toys and Amanda helped me put together the most amazing basket! She walked around the store while we were on the phone, suggested things for the basket, and arranged everything in a pretty cellophane bag! All I had to do was just come in and pick it up! My daughter loved it! I highly recommended RVYay toys and so does my daughter :-) !!!

This diamond in the rough gift shop tops all others. The look of an eclectic department store, it's actually 20 different shops under one roof, checking out at one register with complimentary gift wrapping. The staff of women working at this store are very welcoming and helpful.

The CUTEST store in Richmond!!! Absolutely obsessed with all the gifts and fun things I can find. Bought several Christmas gifts here & will always be back !

I went in today to make a purchase and wasn't greeted - wasn't even acknowledged as a matter of face. Everyone else who entered the store while I was there was. I stood at the counter for several minutes with my purchases before one of two employees looked at me. I told her I was ready to check out and she walked over. She asked "how am I wrapping these"? I explained they were being mailed and asked if it would be too much trouble to wrap them seperately. She rang me up and didn't hand me my credit card - she set it down on the counter when she was done with it and walked over to my purchases to wrap them. While wrapping them she looked at her co-worker and said, "teach me how to say no. NO NO NO" as though she should have said no about wrapping my purchases. She handed them to me and then asked if that was ok. I understand that I may not look like the "regular" customers who shop in the West End, but I don't think it's too much to ask for equal service regardless of what you look like or how much money you are spending. Very disapointed.

Google
Great individual shops. Fantastic deals and a really fun place to browse. Staff is extremely helpful, offering to reorder things I passed on, then changed my mind and it was gone when I returned. A must visit Christmas destination.

Yelp
I could just about lose my mind shopping this store. So many things! It is a great place to find a little something special for a family member or dear friend (or for yourself). They do a lovely job with gift wrapping too!

Yelp
The only reason I am not giving this place a 5 is because of the rudeness of other customers and a woman who I believe is the owner... This is my second year shopping for Christmas gifts here. The place was packed as usual, but it's really unbelievable how other customers bump into you, reach across in front of you and sometimes almost knock you over without a simple "excuse me". This included a woman working and stomping around the store to hang things back on the racks.... Not a single excuse me and she was WORKING. I had an older man (probably in his 70s) bump into me and reach across to grab something. He seemed shocked when I said Excuse me. LOL. The younger guys and girls shopping in the store (probably in their 20s) had the best manners. Being wealthy does not excuse you from proper etiquette and basic kindness.

Yelp
I dare you to come in the this shop and not come out with something cool!! The shop is just lovely, full of nooks and alcoves full of great gifts, clothes and home decor. They carry unique items for babies, and also some eclectic jewelry. There's a small shop that carries wedding gifts and one that has RVA goods. I can always find the perfect gift here and the displays are on point. Come on in and take a gander, you can thank me later!

Yelp
Such a fun store with a a huge selection of gifts, toys, jewelry, clothing, and household goods. If you are looking for unusual gifts, stocking stuffers, or just a treat for yourself, you will not be disappointed. Just be careful what you select, because their return policy is very strict and short in duration, which is understandable given this "store" is comprised of multiple, independent vendors. The Shops at 5807 are a Richmond treasure!

Yelp
Wow! Amazing gear, owner, and staff! The staff and owner of this place go above and beyond. Not only did they help me find what I was looking for - but they helped immediately! I'd come in with only a vague idea of what I needed and they helped me find an assortment throughout the store of some really cool options. In addition to that, they even wrapped it into a beautiful package with ribbons and got me a box from upstairs for shipping it ! I have never seen this level of service before - what a wonderful experience. I'd do six stars if I could !!

Yelp
This place is super-fun and super-cute. I was introduced to it just before Christmas, and I wish I had known about it sooner, as I would have done more of my Christmas shopping here. They have lots of cute gifts that are whimsical and fun, and they have a wonderful stationery selection. There is a Virginia-themed area, which is especially nice if you need to get a hostess gift for someone. The store is pretty large, and it seemed like I kept finding things I liked and wanted to buy. I love shopping local and supporting local businesses. This will stay on my list of go-to shopping destinations when I need to find a gift for someone.

Yelp
Well.. I used to love this shop. But wow.. it's changed. I felt totally judged being in there because I didn't dress the part. One worker was kind to me but the rest gave off such a negative vibe. the lady checking me out only told me the total and asked if I wanted it wrapped. No thank you, no have a nice night, nothing. I won't be returning. And I literally felt in the way to everyone else working there. So.. unless you dress like you have river road money, just don't.

Yelp
This is such a fun store. This is the perfect place to find a cute gift and something different for your home. I love all of the fabulous Chrismas decorations and locally-made ornaments and art. They have ginger jars! There are gifts for men, which are always such difficult people to buy for. There is a little bit of everything. There is a lot of Richmondcentric stuff. I love it! I can't believe there are negative reviews. It's very clear that the people who work here and have booths here put their heart and soul into it, so even if this isn't your cup of tea, at least respect the fact that there is hard work put into making this a unique and fun place.

Yelp
It's the return policy that makes this Gift shop-cute collection of vendors an absolute nightmare. It's draconian at 7 days WITH receipt ....WHY would you ever buy a gift for anyone with such a short timeframe? It's rude! What is EVEN WORSE is that you can't return an item for general store credit!!! The credit CAN ONLY BE USED for items THAT VENDOR may still be selling! DO NOT SHOP HERE! It pains me to be so harsh about a collection of what appear to be local vendors, but the severe purchase-return policies are simply unfair. Stay away!

Yelp
"They're white topaz, not, you know [diamonds], but don't worry, no one will be able to tell the difference." But we can, and the assumption that everyone I know is that stupid -and- that I'm desperate to be wearing diamonds, when I just thought the ring was interesting, rankles. It is not that the shop or the sales-people are bad, exactly, it's that they seem slightly out of touch with the universe. The interior is packed with little boutiques full of brightly-hued kitsch, marked up to ridiculous levels. I feel as though the whole place is geared towards slightly silly upper class, tennis-skirt wearing mothers [which can be awesome people, but do not shop the same way I do at all], yearning for their college days. While there were a few things I liked, I reconsidered the moment I looked at any of the price tags, be it bracelets, shirts, or cocktail napkins.

Yelp
The Shops at 5807 are in an unassuming little strip mall (parking is super easy, right out front!). But you walk in and it's almost like a flea market (but upscale!) with booths and different vendors. They have so many things that would make great gifts- for yourself or others! Some of my favorite things are the selection of jewelry, the Scout bags, and Tervis selection. But they also have antiques, home decor, small batch bath products, hand crafted cutting boards, independently-designed clothing, and more. I could wander around this place for hours. Unfortunately there's not much for men so my husband was a bit bored.

Yelp
The Shops at 5807 is my favorite spot for gifts. From home decor to handmade jewelry, from upscale ladies clothing to re-styled antiques, you're sure to find something to please just about anyone. Some of my favorite mini-boutiques: Occasionally used to be a full-size store in Carytown and it has since moved to this location. You'll find super girly purses, belts, accessories and even monogrammed coozies and coasters. Silver Monkey: an elegant selection of affordable pewterware. Perfect for gifts! Verve: a well-edited selection of antiques and re-styled vintage items. You'll find drool-worthy lamps, throw pillows and more. Lucky Lillibet: A lovely selection of designer dresses, tops, shoes and more. The last time I stopped in for a gift, I picked up a pewterware tray, bowl, spoon and spreader. The ladies at the counter took extra time to remove price tags, clean each item (even hitting sticky price tag spots with Goo Gone) and to package it in a pretty way so it was ready to be gifted. I was very impressed that they went the extra mile.

Yelp
I happened to be driving by this place today, so I stopped in here, and was immediately overwhelmed by not only the prices but by the incredibly preppy vibe of this store. It's mostly relatively useless items (cocktail napkins in a zillion prints, candleholders for your candleholders, cutsie painted signs, overstuffed pillows, anything you can think of monogrammed, and then clothing that costs an arm and a leg. The store model is much like antiques malls- "Sellers" have spaces in the store to display their wares, and the freedom to decorate their space as they see fit. Urban Interiors was really the only little shop I really thought wasn't completely overwhelming or ridiculously overpriced. And, I went up to the counter to ask about a set of side tables that weren't priced, and was ignored by the saleswomen (apparently it takes two-three salespeople to check out each customer) until I actually interrupted them to ask the question. It wasn't enough that I was in line- apparently they wanted to serve the older wealthier looking women in the line first... Bottom line- there wasn't anything unique in the store, and I could find most of it cheaper elsewhere.

Yelp
This place is a whimsical gifting gold mine. It's designed like an antiques mall where individual vendors can rent space and is brimming with charming and unique gift options from a host of different boutiques. The individual boutiques vary in prices so typically you can find something no matter what your price range is - from jewelry, to clothing, candles, to baby gifts - they have a little bit of everything! They also normally have a great selection of Richmond, Virginia, and southern products. Many of the boutiques feature handmade art and jewelry which means that the price is often a little higher, but you get what you pay for - and if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for someone who is hard to shop for, The Shops at 5807 put dozes of shops in one place.

Yelp
This place is a good idea in theory. Its fun to look around and want all the adorable things that are displayed just so. But the prices are pretty high in my opinion. Some shops were reasonable of course. The best part of this place is Lavish Apothecary in the back. I did buy items from there. I didn't have any problems customer service wise. But I like to be left alone when browsing overpriced items ;) I did like a lot of the stuff and the store in clean and well organized. But for me its just for browsing.

Yelp
The Shops at 5807 is unlike anywhere else you will find in any city! It is whimsy fun at its best, with unique jewelry & clothing, local gifts, and beautiful artwork. The staff is always helpful and willing to point out where to look for a gift for that hard-to-locate birthday present for your 14-year old niece! I love wandering in on a Saturday and browsing for hours, although I've not yet left without buying at least one amazing piece. The Shops is a GREAT place to take out-of-town visitors, or just to give yourself a boost of cheer and fun.

Yelp
I love this store store ONLY because they have unique items to give as gifts that aren't in every department store. The customer service is atrocious, they are rude, pretentious and completely unhelpful. There have been two times now that I have left without purchasing the items I wanted because I was ignored when waiting at the counter to be checked out. I was also kicked out (while shopping with my mom and sister in law who were there for the first time) at 6 pm on the dot. Needless to say neither of them will be going back and I was even surprised they were that rude especially given that we were all carrying things we were planning on purchasing. It can be really hit or miss as well sometimes they have cute unique things and sometimes its all just use less knick knacks like someone else said. Most stuff is generally over priced as well.

Yelp
Great store ... Wonderfully merchandised! From clothing to jewelry to pottery and locally handmade goods ... They really do have it all. Oh, and the gift wrapping is fantastic!

Maurice T.

Yelp
Horrible service, rude employees and high prices! After buying a Mother's day gift, I stood at the register while two older women chatted. It was obvious I was ready to check out, but I was ignored. Finally, I asked if I could check out. I guess I was bothering these two because the woman that checked me out had an ATTITUDE. I used a CC to pay and after it was swiped, I put my hand out and palm up to recieve my CC back. The rude lady dropped it on the counter and using her best "I'm annoyed" voice said "How can I wrap this?". I had three items and needed them wrapped seperately. She turned and as she was wrapping shestated to her co-worker "You need to remind me how to say NO, No, No. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Yelp
I have had some recent family issues and have felt rather out of sorts. Whenever I feel this way, I make a point of stopping in at the shops at 5807. This place just brings a smile to my face! The merchandise is quirky, bright, unusual and FUN! The staff is really friendly whether I am just browsing or purchasing, AND the free gift wrap is adorable! Having a bad day??? Try a little retail therapy here, and I promise your spirits will be not just lifted but elevated!

Mollie S.

Yelp
This place is a great one stop shopping experience! I found the perfect gift for an upcoming party and some Halloween treats for my kids. Service was fast and the gift wrap was adorable.

Yelp
The Shops at 5807 is my FAVORITE place in Richmond to buy gifts- there is something for everyone- friends, family, men, women and children. Trendy and eclectic, you can find perfect gifts that you do not see EVERYWHERE. The girls that work there are always willing to help with great suggestions. I was once at a loss for a Father's Day gift....when I asked the suggestion I received was "How about this Richmond Restaurant book" You can take your father to lunch or dinner at one of them each month! Perfect suggestion, Perfect Gift!!!
