"Plockton is among the most charming seaside villages in the Western Highlands, if not all of Scotland, with a palm tree–lined main street and stunning views over Loch Carron. It’s here that you’ll find The Shores, a small, friendly eatery offering lots of local flavor. Working with area suppliers like Island Divers, Lochalsh Butchers, and Highland Soulfoods, the restaurant serves everything from plump scallops to Skye lamb and wild mushrooms, offering guests a taste of the region. Start with the Cullen skink (a creamy soup of smoked haddock, celery, and milk), then move on to entrées like Wester Ross salmon with fresh pesto and Parmesan, or pepper-crusted Sutherland venison in a sloe gin reduction. If you’re in need of something quick, there’s also an attached coffee shop with baked goods, prepared foods, coffee, and more."

It was like being in a literal dream. Plockton is a magical apparition of a town that sits with her feet in the water. The food was fabulous; fresh mussels and a fried haddock. Also, they have local beer that is outstanding, one of the best I’ve had. I always feel melancholy when I finish a wonderful brew from far away because I know I won’t be able to find it at home.

I popped into The Shores for lunch. Had the most amazing scallops and booked a table for dinner. Great service, excellent cooking and a nice friendly atmosphere. If you live in Plockton you'll know how good it is, but if you plan on visiting make sure you bring your appetite.

Google
well the food is wonderful, which is of course the reason you go to a restaurant. veg fresh and well prepared, well seasoned food and cooked perfectly. location impeccable. no notes, but the staff, somehow are even better. i was in a real jam and they helped me more than i could have ever asked for. i am not sure what i could have done in this life to have been treated so graciously but i thank them all and hope to be able to repair the care to others soon. ❤️

Popped in for lunch on our way from Skye. Glad we did as it was possibly the best meal we had in our whole trip. Amazing fresh seafood - I had the chowder, my partner had the whitebait. She says it may be the best whitebait she has ever eaten. Easy to recommend ☺️

This restaurant is an absolute hidden gem. The local mussels and langoustine were outstanding some of the freshest, most flavorful seafood I’ve ever had. We enjoyed our lunch so much. Easily the best seafood experience I’ve had in Scotland.

Our favorite restaurant of the three main restaurants in Plockton. Excellent seafood, we especially enjoyed the mussels. The service was friendly and attentive. Be sure to check out their shop as well a it stocks some unique specialty item as well as craft beer and wines.

Yelp
Newly reopened in time for tourist season, this is a shared space between an excellent restaurant and a shop for fine provisions. Eat and then stock up for the next day's drive. This was my only fish and chips on our trip and it was excellent. Massive, I ate maybe 2/3 of it? For dessert I did have a couple of bites of a super delicious and rich chocolate mousse dessert. Beautiful views. Excellent service. Definitely worth your time if you find yourself in the area.

Yelp
Reservations are required during high season. We came with reservations made through Rabbie's Tours. The interior is very upscale - easily the fanciest place in the very tiny village of Plockton. The menu looked inspired and seafood oriented. Because I hadn't tried any Scottish sourced beef yet on the trip, I made the mistake of ordering the aged Scottish ribeye and then added on the cracked pepper sauce with whiskey. This was £20 plus £3 for the sauce! The ribeye was cut too thin, to begin with, so wasn't cooked properly by default. The cracked pepper sauce had no whiskey flavor at all. And the overall portion was too small given the price. Another in our group ordered the same thing with the same sauce added. He commented similarly that the portion was small and that the flavor on the beef and sauce was lacking. No whiskey flavor was detected either. Others enjoyed their food. But I should have just stuck with the seafood sampler like everyone else.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious spot with the most friendly server ever! After a long drive, this was the only place open in Plockton for lunch. I ordered the cullen skink and a cup of tea. Tea was lovely but the soup was absolutely divine. It was an excellent balance of fish to cream with the right amount of seasoning. The crusty bread on the side was perfect to mop up any left over bites. The best bit was the sticky toffee pudding. Hands down the best one I have ever tried! Soft, fluffy cake covered in a warm toffee syrup. I could happy eat one of these every day (although I'm sure my waistline would complain). The lady serving us was so lovely and gave us some good recommendations for walks after we finished our lunch. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Yelp
Get a reservation in advance. Two bites in to our starter we were able to snag the last seating for the following evening. We all agreed that this is one of the best chefs we have had, anywhere in the world. Thoughtful about each ingredient, and respectful inclusion of vegetarian items. Lovely atmosphere, service and great playlist.

Yelp
Amazing food, this restaurant serves some of the best food in the area. We had some amazing seafood and an extremely creative starter with black pudding over some goat cheese. This restaurant is worth making a little detour when you are in the area. Can fully recommend it!

Yelp
This is quite a nice restaurant, near the bridge to the Isle of Skye (but not on the island) in, as you might guess, the town of Plockton. It has a well deserved fine local reputation as a good seafood restaurant and I would certainly agree. It is a fairly small place and was crowded when we were there for dinner, so it is a good thing we had a reservation. We had an interesting assortment of seafood, all quite excellent. Squat lobsters, about the size of crayfish, served in a glass with just the tails, crab cakes, duck breast served on chanterelles, lemon sole (the whole fish) and langostines which are just like one of my favorite oxymorons "jumbo shrimp." It is well worth going a bit out of you way to dine here.

Yelp
A brilliant fresh sea food restaurant - if you are in the area and like seafood, make this your dinner choice! I had a seafood platter for one which came with a dazzling array of incredibly fresh and delicious seafood. I think I could eat this mean, forever, non stop. It had - shrimp, baked tuna, 2 mini lobsters, mussels, and I think some other sort of fish. It was all topped with a fresh oyster. All local. All fresh. A *lot* of it (the platter for 1 filled this hungry girl up and I am CRAZY for seafood) - I didn't even finish the baked tuna, as everything else was SO good.... The price can't be beat either, given that it was all super fresh. Delicious!

Yelp
Nice place to have fresh seafood. We showed up with six people and no reservation but they were able to accommodate us. Everyone enjoyed their meal from the shrimp to the lamb. Fresh soup was a great starter. The desserts looked yummy but we were to full. The only drawback was one person didn't get their entree until everyone else was done, the waitstaff didn't notice that we were short until we brought it to their attention.

Yelp
One of the best small-town restaurants we've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious - the tempura scallops, the shellfish platter, the Mediterranean salad. I wish we had stayed in Plockton for a second night so we could eat here again.

Yelp
Nice little place with nice food right by the shore. I can only imagine how crowded this might be during the summer! They have a good selection of fish and seafood. Also they have vegetarian haggis for those of us who want to try it but aren't keen on the whole sheep intestines thing.
