Yelp
A modern interpretation of speak easy bar with a little Asian fusion (I think more on the Japanese style) both in drinks and decor. Unique in any case, in a good way.
Like:
1. The alcohol seems to be higher shelf (quality) and the drink options are original. One of those places that has pages and pages of options, including for alcohol free if needed (assuming you are hung over from drinking the night before), but all the drinks are original or have an original twist. Also, this place really distinguishes itself by decorating their cocktails creatively, such as a flower on the side with banana flavoured chocolate crunchies or the mechanical fish in the bowl. The drinks do taste as good as they sound on the menu, and not overly strong that you get knocked out immediately.
2. Staff is not afraid when you tell them "Surprise me! No sour no soda though please". However, you may or may not love what they bring you (although it will always look great because they are really good at decor which turns into half the fun)
3. When you make a reservation, they actually have no problem if you specify which table you want, and when you arrive you actually get the one you asked for.
4. Free crackers, and happy to give you more if requested, no charge. Automatically bring you a jug of tap water too.
5. There is a place they seem to have lindy hop dancing class, but based on how the entire place is separated into almost three sections, you are not bothered by having to see them unless you want to, or getting bumped by dancers.
6. Bathroom is clean, there was soap, and feminine products for free, which can be a life saving, so awesome. Also there is a great send mirror behind you which provides the best full view I have ever experienced. Finally got to see how cool my haircut is from all angles.
7. SMOKE FREE!!!!
So so:
8. I felt the drinks tasted great, however I did not feel my drinks were strong. At 10 to 15 Euros each, that as disappointing. However, my friends felt their drinks were really strong, and in the morning I thought, well.... maybe stronger than I thought... not painful though, so may be good indication of higher shelf products.
9. If you sit in in the back the music may be a bit too loud, and the couch/seats areas so far away from each other around the table that may be hard to have conversation and chat in groups. Front section has less seat options, but better for groups wanting to talk perhaps.
10. Everyone thought the little dog as cute, and was quiet and not running around, but for me, animals don't belong in a cocktail bar.
Overall: Ching ching ching, but good once in a while when looking for creative innovative cocktails with a fun twist. Definitely a good conversational starter, its a place to go for the experience.
