Awesome cafe with views. This hertitage house has many views of the bush land and bay. A nice place to have a relaxing breakfast lunch or dessert . Highly recommended the scones. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and provided outstanding service. The food was reasonably priced, but l would suggest decreasing the price of cakes to make it more affordable.

The food here is consistently brilliant and has never failed to impress us each time we visit. We particularly love the rich and flavourful chowder, the perfectly cooked pork belly, and the crispy, delicious sweet potato chips. The atmosphere and overall environment are second to none, offering a warm and inviting setting that enhances the dining experience. The service is equally commendable – attentive, friendly, and professional.

Lovely experience with fabulous scones, lovely views, laid back music and attentive staff. Definitely a must visit when in Hobart. Catch bus 458 from Franklin Square, get off at the end and you’re there.

We had a lovely meal in this historic building. Good variety of small and large plates. Attentive and efficient staff. Calamari was great, as were the sweet potato fries.

The views are great but unfortunately the food and service were really bad. We went for brunch on a Sunday in a group of 4. All 4 dishes were strange combinations, super sweet things with overcooked poached eggs. Even if you did like the flavours, the execution was poor. The staff were pleasant enough but seemed a bit clueless. It's like they knew it was bad when we said our food was not good. It didn't seem like the feedback was taken seriously, just like they expected it. The table next to us must of ordered a while before us but their food came after ours with the staff member having to come over multiple times to apologise. All 3 of our coffees were not good either and took about 20 minutes to come out. Most of the reviews seem positive so we were pretty surprised by our bad experience. Makes you wonder what was going on. As soon as we arrived you could tell the vibe from the staff was that it was a mess and they were struggling. I don't leave negative reviews lightly and maybe it was just a bad day but I would not return here unfortunately.

Beautiful views, which you definitely pay a premium for in terms of pricing...which is absolutely fine if the food and coffee are great too. But sadly they weren't. Super slow service, poor food not as described, and below average coffee. Maybe it was just a bad day as other reviews seem ok (which is why we went), but yeah, wouldn't head back or recommend. Issues raised to the team who removed the drinks from the bill, which was appreciated, but they didn't seem overly keen to take our concerns on board beyond lip service

4.5 stars Venue: besides the Mt Nelson Signal station. So the view is wonderful. It's a historic signalman quarter renovated to this beautiful restaurant. Nice interior decoration. As fixed structure, some interior areas are narrow. But, most of the tables are arranged to make sure that you can enjoy the scenery. Clean and tidy. Better to make reservations, especially weekends. Plenty of free carparks. --- 7.8/10 Service: Tap water was provided after to be seated. The owner and the server were also nice and friendly. Food served fast. --- 7.5/10 Food: Good presentation. Good portion. Acceptable prices. - Seafood Chowder, $33: a lot of various seafood fillings (small prawns, squid, ~5 pcs scallops, fish. My female friend and I agreed that the soup was slightly salty. The big grilled prawn on the top was overcooked. Turkish bread was 100% well-toasted. --- 8.3/10 - Crumbed Calamari with Asian Salad, $41: served with mayo and a lemon wedge large cut. Not rubbery. --- 7.5/10 - Hot Chocolate, $5.3: served with 1 marshmallow.

Yelp
Top location, great food & good vegetarian options. The views alone make this place awesome. Open Tuesday to Sunday 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Yelp
You drive into a car park and see the signal station. Your site seeing roadtrip is going to boring plan. But to the side you see a restaurant! Your roadtrip is now winning. Entering the building you'll be transported back in time... to, like, 2013 when they last repainted. It's a beautiful old cottage turned restaurant with plush couches, comfy chairs and white linen on the tables. It used to be the old Signal Master's cottage or something like that. Damn, he was sitting on some nice land. I'm sure it was cold and shit back in his day, but dude - those views! If you're lucky you'll be greeted by a wonderful lady with a thick german accent, in a nice way. She is delightful and very friendly, and I loved every word she spoke. We stopped by for lunch and the inlaws insisted on paying. If your inlaws are generous - take them with you. This isn't a cheap meal. Between us, we ordered: - Pan fried scallops and prawns - Caesar salad with warm grilled chicken - Fish of the day - Tasmanian Grass Fed NY Cut Porterhouse It was delicious. Even my father in law, who routinely scoffs at fancy meals, ate all of his fish and the accompanying watermelon based salad. He didn't understand the presence of the watermelon, but he still ate it. This is impressive. They also serve the delightful Frogmore Creek FGR Riesling. Perhaps my favouritest riesling ever because of its sweetness. It should be said, probably more than a third of our happiness with this place can be attributed to not having to pay the bill, but I have no doubt we'll be back when we next have something to celebrate.

Yelp
Previously a local it was a great pleasure to revisit this amazing place. The view is magnificent. The setting on the hilltop in bush land provides opportunities to see local bird life first hand and on this occasion the blue wrens were in abundance . An Asian inspired menu is on offer and with the view certainly the slow relaxed lunch is the thing to do,

Yelp
I just moved to the area and I've been here twice because it is convenient to where I live. The first time it was alright, there was a woman working there who was rushing around being unpleasant but my waiter was nice enough and the food was alright (just alright) so I saw no reason not to go back. I biked there today and arrived at 10:30 I was surprised it wasn't open because the sign outside said it should be, looked online and it said they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. That's fine, everyone deserves a weekend. I figured I'd just read for a bit and then bike home. I was thirsty so I went to the side door to ask if someone would be willing to fill up my water bottle. You would have thought I had asked the previously mentioned woman for her kidney. She crowded me out and told me to use the spigot in the garden. She wouldn't even show me where it was, she just kept saying "in the garden." I was really shocked with how I was treated and how rude she was. I was fully planning on making this place one of my regular haunts and bringing my parents to share a meal and see the view when they visit but I am never purchasing a thing from them again. We'll just have a picnic. I can see from other reviews online other costumers had issues with this woman. Either she needs to learn how to treat people with curtesy and kindness or maybe she needs to find another line of work, preferably from home so people don't have to deal with her.

Yelp
I hadn't been out here in years, but recently attended a wedding held at the brasserie. The view from up here is stunning! I don't know what regular service is like as we were a special event, but the food we had (a range of canapes including gluten free and vegetarian options) were really tasty and the staff were great. I'm quite keen to come back on a regular day and have lunch to investigate further.

Yelp
Walked in to order a take away coffee while enjoying the view and the server had a flat "no" as he refused service to anyone without a reservation. His delivery was so rude and uninviting I caution to pay for anything to support this ungrateful establishment. Customer service training needed.

Yelp
Cute little place with an amazing view. If you just want to waste away a Sunday afternoon, come up here for the spectacular view, enjoy some scones with Jane & cream, and maybe also grab a hot chocolate. Sit out on the balcony and watch the world go by with the Kenny G style music playing in the background.
