We traveled from Georgia to Kentucky as visitors, specifically to visit Edward and explore the dining scene. ✈️🍽️ We had heard that Kentucky is famous for the Mint Julep 🍹, so we went around looking for bars that served it but surprisingly couldn’t find one. 😲 During our search, we came across The Silver Dollar, which had excellent reviews 🌟, and decided to give it a try. My boyfriend asked if they could make a Mint Julep, even though it wasn’t on the menu. The manager and staff were incredibly accommodating and kindly made one for him. 🥰👏 As for me, I ordered a Gold Rush 🍯🍋 cocktail. It turned out to be more citrusy than I expected 🍋, so I asked if they could make a slightly sweeter version, and they happily adjusted it for me. The bartender was extremely friendly 🤗, and if we lived closer, we would definitely be regulars. 💕 This bar not only warms your heart with its hospitality but also warms your body with its well-crafted cocktails. 🍸🔥 A truly wonderful experience! 🥂✨

BEST STOP IN LOUISVILLE for a top notch and very broad whiskey selection, as well as unbeatable hospitality and an AMAZING vibe! Brian (sp?), the owner, is HUMBLE and EXTREMELY KIND, and a fellow whiskey nerd. He has something SPECIAL on the bar for EVERY whiskey drinker and his crew is very knowledgeable and kind, to boot! The whiskey selection will blow the minds of even the pickiest of the whiskey nerds and their house barrel picks are nothing less than PHENOMENAL! During our first visit, my wife shared that we were celebrating my birthday for which he quickly asked what year I was born. Before I knew it, Brian had a pour ready, vintage of my birth year! What a guy, what a crew, and what a place to enjoy a pour with the ones you love! THANK YOU Brian and the Silver Dollar Fam! Cheers 🥃🫡

Fantastic experience overall. Had an incredible selection of bourbon and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Fun low key vibe, food came out super quick, and everything tasted great. Must visit every single time I’m in town!!!

Everyone needs to check out The Silver Dollar without hesitation. Our first time going to this bar and we were blown away by the friendly service before we even sat down and ordered. We first met Jay & he served us at the bar prior to sitting at our table and made sure we were good several times as he was busting his butt around the restaurant and never skipped a beat. He greeted everyone who came in and never missed anyone. We then met the owner, Brian who checked on us throughout the night and gave us so much information on whiskey that we never knew before. Then we met Jarid(I apologize if I spelled your name wrong) who took over when we were sat at our table and we had a great time with him for the rest of the night. Everyone went above and beyond, the most kind people, phenomenal food(shoutout to everyone in the kitchen!!) & the vibe of the restaurant was definitely a favorite for us!! If we ever get the chance to go back to Kentucky again, we will definitely be stopping in. We also ate our left over nachos for breakfast on our drive home 😋

The Silver Dollar in Louisville, Kentucky, is a bourbon lover’s paradise and an essential stop for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining and drinking experience. Nestled in a gorgeously renovated historic firehouse, this spot expertly marries a vibrant, rustic ambiance with a deep appreciation for Kentucky’s signature spirit—bourbon. The star of The Silver Dollar is its unmatched bourbon selection. With an expertly curated list featuring over 100 bourbons and ryes, including exclusive private barrel picks, the options are as diverse as they are impressive. Whether you’re a seasoned whiskey enthusiast or a curious newcomer, their knowledgeable staff will guide you through the nuances of each pour, offering thoughtful recommendations based on your preferences. From hard-to-find gems to iconic labels, this place is a haven for those who appreciate the art of bourbon. Their private barrel selections stand out for their distinct flavor profiles, ensuring a tasting experience you won’t find elsewhere. The whiskey program also includes expertly crafted cocktails that highlight the spirit’s versatility. Favorites like the Old Fashioned and the Boulevardier are perfected here, but don’t hesitate to explore creative seasonal offerings that take bourbon to exciting new heights. If sipping straight is your preference, the bartenders are happy to share their expertise, serving flights that allow you to compare and savor the differences between small-batch, single-barrel, and cask-strength bourbons. The food menu is a perfect complement to the whiskey. Featuring hearty Southern classics with a nod to Texan and Californian flavors, the offerings include mouthwatering spice-rubbed beef brisket, crispy fried chicken and waffles, and perfectly cooked fried catfish. Pairing these dishes with a pour of bourbon elevates the dining experience to something extraordinary. The ambiance of The Silver Dollar is an experience in itself, with Bakersfield-style honky-tonk music filling the air and a lively, welcoming crowd. When the weather allows, the firehouse doors open, letting the party spill onto the street and making the venue feel like a cornerstone of Louisville’s bourbon and dining culture. For dessert, the creamy, rich banana pudding is a must, but for a true Kentucky finish, there’s nothing like a premium bourbon neat or a well-paired flight to end your meal on the perfect note. Whether you’re a bourbon connoisseur or simply looking to explore Kentucky’s iconic spirit in an inviting, dynamic setting, The Silver Dollar offers an experience you won’t soon forget. It’s a celebration of bourbon, good food, and great company, making it a Louisville gem that captures the heart of bourbon country.

Google
Great place with an amazing selection of bourbon. Got to talk with a manager (maybe owner) about the selection all; so knowledgeable. Great prices on the pours; including the finer ones. Some options that are very hard to get as well. Got the taquitos and they were excellent. I will be back for sure.

Silver Dollar was an absolute star when it came to celebrating my husband's 40th! Our group joked about how we should’ve spent the entire weekend here instead of other spots. Their brunch options were mouthwatering, and they nailed my eggs to perfection – not too runny, not too hard, you know, the perfect gelatinous! Their Bloody Marys and Marías were some of the best I've ever tasted. Brian's extensive knowledge of spirits shone through as he curated tequila, bourbon, and gin flights for our group. And thanks to Silver Dollar, my husband got to indulge in a Pappy flight!

We’ve been coming to this place for a long time and the food has always been good but for the past couple of months, the food has been awful and just cheap quality. We always get the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and got the same thing tonight and it was just awful. Barely edible and the bun was just so small. Nothing compared to their sandwich before. The sandwich has like two pieces of lettuce and no pickles even tho pickles are mentioned on the menu. The sandwich with fries is $18 and honestly it wasn’t even worth a couple dollars. Massive waste of money. A couple months ago, we got avocado toast with only one egg (even tho the menu mentions 2 egg) and the bread was just a small white piece of bread. Awful quality of the food. It used to be soo good. Highly disappointed as this used to be one of my favorite places. Save your money and don’t get any food at this place. Also don’t get Kentucky mule as it might come with a massive block of ice..

Yelp
We stopped in at the Silver Dollar as we explored Frankfort Avenue post dinner at a nearby establishment. Since it was only 8 PM on a Saturday, we weren't ready to call it a night and decided to do reconnaissance for a future visit. This place was hopping and we threaded our way through to find seating near the back, but it was worthwhile. The music was a mix of Bob Seger and Wanda Jackson (reminiscent of Patsy Cline) in block sets -- no complaints here! The building was a former firehouse and has exposed brick, high ceilings, and a large glass garage door on the front facade. The original fire pole is also still installed near the front of the restaurant, but can no longer be used and is boarded up top. Darn. We had a beer while we took it all in and this is a great place to people watch and chill. Bar staff were all quite friendly and nice -- I even met one that I would have been happy to take home! (Just kidding -- he ran too fast for me to catch him.) Also, I want to mention that this place smells divine. It reminded me of a pleasant smokehouse bacon-y perfume and one of the barkeeps informed me that it is the result of the pork belly they serve. Mmmm. We have a plan to return in the future to dine and imbibe. I'll be logging miles at the track in the meantime. :)

Yelp
Used to love this place and used to get the chilaquiles with smoked chicken nearly every weekend, but it left the menu during Covid. After the recent reopening I saw it had returned to the (online) menu so I went in during brunch to revisit. Didn't see the smoked chicken as an option for the dish, but asked and was told I could get it, so I did. However what came out was the chilaquiles as on the menu without the chicken, and was given a separate bowl of not-smoked chicken tossed in some red sauce. So I had an $11 plate of chips with cheese and verde and Cisco chicken for $6. Disappointed the original dish didn't really return, and even more disappointed I was still sold it and was given a make-shift substitution. Just be honest. Oh well. Several other complaints, but I'll just leave it at that. Hate it because I was so excited.

Caroline B.

Yelp
Very cute restaurant with delicious food. We saw the chicken and waffles online in reviews, but they weren't on the menu. We asked the server about them and he said they could make them without any hesitation. We also got the biscuit basket appetizer. So delicious! There was a little bit of a wait for the food to come out, but nothing crazy and very much worth it.

Yelp
The Silver Dollar is BACK! The restaurant is under new management/ownership and since I personally know one of the owners, I was invited last night to their friends and family night! The restaurant still has some of its iconic items such as strung Christmas lights, a wall full of bourbon (since it's a hot bourbon spot), the garage door, chicken & waffles, and their outdoor patio (but with a face lift)! A few new touches is a revamped menu, no more condiment/silverware baskets on the tables, and refinished tables made from Stitzel-Weller rickhouse wood! At our table we had chips/salsa, chimichurri steak frites, salmon, shrimp & grits, avocado salad, and brussel sprouts! All tasty, especially those brussels and the shrimp & grits which were made with smoked gouda and pimento cheddar. A couple bourbon connoisseurs with us had the Old Fashion and raved about it! They also chose to taste several pours selected from the massive book of bourbon? My Kentucky Mule was good too... packed with crushed ice and just the right amount of bourbon to ginger beer! My only compliant to it would be the paper straw. Sodas are served in the can. They are currently operating on a limited schedule due to still trying to complete their staff and keep in mind that the staff is new so offer some grace... but get out there and give the refreshed Dollar a go!

Yelp
Haven't been here in a long time. Went to the Aglimmer at the waterfront botanical gardens and this was close so decided to eat here. I made a reservation on open table but didn't need one. Very scant crowd. There were 3 people behind the bar it appeared, to bartend for maybe 8-10 people seated at the bar. Turns out one was sort of filling in for all areas. He ran food, bartended and checked on tables. Maybe the manager? We were seated and it was quite some time before a waiter arrived. He dropped off water and menus and said he would be back in a while. (It was a really long while) There were three other tables with people at them. Mostly empty. It was a LONG time waiting. Finally I decided maybe I just needed to go to the bar to order drinks. I went and stood there for a while. Couldn't get the attention of either bartender. Felt invisible. Finally as I was standing at the bar the waiter came to the table. Hubby called me back over. Waiter finally showed up. I ordered a knob creek with gingerale. He had some Mexican beer concoction. We didn't want him to leave because now we realize he is the only waiter and obviously 4 tables to wait on was too many. We quickly ordered appetizer and meals. Hubby ordered the brisket sandwich with fries and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with Nashville hot seasoning. We also ordered mac n cheese. We had fried pickles also. We both really liked the fried pickles. Not greasy, tart, crisp, hot. And the sauce for the pickles was really good. My drink came and it didn't taste right. Definitely not gingerale. Sometimes bartenders think they can "make" gingerale....you can't. Or the gingerale was so flat it ruined the drink. I didn't drink it. Hubbys brisket was tender and good, but a bit too saucy but he liked the flavor and it wasn't chewy or too fatty. My chicken sandwich was small. I am 5' tall with very small hands and my palm is bigger than the chicken sandwich. Really small. Like almost slider small. I generally think portions are too big so it didn't bother me as I can't normally eat an entire sandwich. This was about 6 bites if that. Definitely no larger than 3 ounces of chicken breast. The flavor was really good. But for $18 it was a lot for a very small sandwich. The Mac n cheese was creamy and good but very rich. It had a ton of cheese on it. If you like cheese you will like it. In Louisville if I am having a Nashville hot chicken I compare it to Royals because nobody does the chicken sandwich better. If you compared the two, royals sandwich is about 1 and 1/2 or 2 times the size. Their breasts are thick and plump with plenty of chicken and breading. This was tiny and skinny. Royals sandwich is under $13 and includes a side. This did too but at half the size and it was $18. The service was slow for sure but it seemed like that was a result of not enough staff. Overall it was not a great experience. Drinks were not great, took about 25 minutes to get a drink. And food was good enough but I wouldn't say good enough for the bill to be $100.

Yelp
What a great spot for food and bourbon. Rustic feel and very foodie choice of dishes. Staff was very helpful and efficient. They have a nice back patio as well. Some parking but it's right next to a residential neighborhood so ride share is best. Really enjoyed the experience and you should as well.

Chris W.

Yelp
A casual no-frills tavern with amazing selection of bourbon. My buddy and I came for a flight of the hard-to-find and expensive Pappy Van Winkle. I called around and Silver Dollar was one of few with entire family: 10, 12, 13 (rye), 15, 20 and 23 year. We samples all but the 20yr as it and 23 yr were super expensive. We split a 1.5oz pour between two 3/4 oz pours. It was a once in a lifetime experience! My favorite was the 15yr, if you want to save money on the older years. The food was good. I enjoyed steak with seasoned fries. It is higher end of standard tavern fare. The bourbon selection is the real gem here.

Sheila D.

Yelp
Fun place to go for dinner and drinks. They change the vinyls playing behind the bar as you enjoy your meal. Typical bar food, fun date night option.

Amanda A.

Yelp
Good ambience and friendly staff. A great place to grab a quick drink. I will be back!

Mary A.

Yelp
A good meal to start off our weekend in Louisville. The drinks had mixed reviews - old fashioned was great the Bloody Mary and strawberry something were not good. The food was tasty and the outdoor patio was nice. The service was good although it seemed we didn't have one server but rather many.

Pam W.

Yelp
Traveling for work and my team wanted to go grab dinner. They've been with the company for years so make regular trips to Louisville, so they know the area. I'm only three months in and it's my first trip to the area. Dinner as a team and they picked The Silver Dollar. This is a neighborhood bar with a southern-inspired menu with some Mexican twists. We all ordered beverages...beers for my colleagues and a margarita for me. The margarita was pretty basic with not salt, no lime (until I asked for one). The mix was okay but it needed the hit of lime acidity. With the lime it was decent. For appetizers we got fried pickles and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were really good and the pickles were as advertised. For entrees we got a variety...pulled pork sandwich with no bun, shrimp and grits, catfish sandwich and taquitos for me. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. For me the taquitos had a really good filling and the salad was a nice counterpoint for the fried taquitos.

Clifford G.

Yelp
First time. I got chicken livers- trash real good. My family got salmon and kids Mac and cheese with fries Salmon was fresh and great size. Green beans were cooked perfectly (crispy) and the Mac was perfect. The only issue was a little too much garlic. Service was attentive And noise level a little more noisy for dinner.

Jess D.

Yelp
Best chicken livers this side of the Mississippi. Silver dollar is in an old firehouse that serves whiskey for days and has a classic phonograph with some classic 80s country hits playing.

Cate F.

Yelp
Excellent food and ambience! Cool cocktails and outstanding service too. Pricey but worthwhile!

Nicholas K.

Yelp
Start the timer! Seated at 7pm. 7:02 menus and water brought to the patio. 7:03 returned and drinks ordered Old fashioned. With Makers mark. 7:07 dinner ordered! Chicken and Waffles, Steak Frites. Ok we tried the Old Fashioned's and wow, we had a struggle not to just chug them down! Perfectly smooth, slightly smoky and sweet with not too much bitterness. A muddled orange peel but no cherry. It wasn't needed anyway! Made by none other than Charles, our server! 7:30 dinner delivered and it looks great, until we cut into the steak(which looked cooked perfectly on the outside, but turned out to be well done and though we hated to do it we just had to send the steak back. In the meantime, munched on some of the best fries in Louisville, the Truffle Fries with that steak Frites plate. Wow. Perfectly crisp on the outside, just the right amount of give in the middle, and not overly truffle in flavor. Perfect New steak at 7:46pm. Cooked as expected and bursting with flavor. Issue rectified. It happens. 7:55pm asked for check. 7:58pm bill received and paid. Thanks to Charles, our server!

Alli C.

Yelp
Came in for cocktails (always superb) and empanadas (Omgoodness, the mole sauce is to die for!) and enjoyed some quiet time with some moody country records at the bar. By the time we left, there was a nice crowd! This place is always a pleaser with strong drinks and southern comfort food.

Amanda S.

Yelp
Silver dollar isn't what it used to be. It's still good although I would recommend going in with different expectations from a year or so ago.

Cameron N.

Yelp
Let me just start off by saying DO NOT work here and DO NOT eat here. The owner is a Creep with a capital "C". My wife and I just moved to the area being lifetime service industry workers were no strangers to what the "no no's" are in bars and restaurants. For starters knowingly serving a minor on staff alcohol. And if it isn't "knowingly" it's negligently. You hired him dude, you know his age. Inappropriatebehaviortowardsyourfemalestaff Knock it off dude, it's not tinder it's a business you literally own. Do not touch your staff under any circumstances unless your giving CPR or shaking their hand. Period. Unethical pricing for the products that are produced. "Well so & so's charged this much so why can't I?" Probably because GFS bottom shelf hot dogs and hostess buns do not equal a well thought out menu. Honestly it just reeeeks of not respecting your customers at all. Can I just say that your insane managerial practices, general antics and lack of any structure are driving your entire staff out the door. The turnover rate isn't just a coincidence. It's you. I'm absolutely heartbroken for any staff who is unfortunately stuck there for one reason or another, or is hoping that this will blow over and get better. I hate to say this but I've worked for many "Bryans" over the years. If the business doesnt fail in very short order it will surely slip in to mediocrity and locals will avoid like the plague. And as a sign off here, we both were really rooting for this place to be a cool job/ business but wholeheartedly "you" are ruining your business. Your frustrating and creeping out your staff, and your customers. No one wants to listen to you pontificate about Bourbon I promise you, I've worked in craft beer for a decade. If someone has a question they'll ask. It's so dissapointing that was a pretty cool looking bar. Birria wasn't bad btw

Carrie J.

Yelp
First of all if you are here for breakfast don't pass on the biscuit basket. Light, fluffy, crispy and buttery. Our classic breakfasts were perfect! Excellent gravy! The hashbrown casserole was delicious! What a fun place! It's an old firehouse. The stack of LP's in the corner were rotated through on the record player and kept us thinking of Marty Robbins. Staff were funny and attentive. Decently priced. Will definitely come back for lunch or dinner.

Neil D.

Yelp
I was excited to try this well reviewed spot for a weekend early lunch. Sadly, left super disappointed. First, my hot chicken sandwich arrived looking slightly odd. Was smaller than the bun, which is rare for any a normal thigh sandwich. Oh well, thought I'd try for flavor. which while heavily oily, was flavorful for 1st few bites. Then it gave way to the toughest chicken I can remember being served:( it's as if the suspect piece had been carved wrong. Hard to even cut with a knife. To add to the disappointment, server was so busy rolling silver, I never saw him again after food arrived. $38 spent w/ side of potatoes & bloody Mary, w/ a different staff member closing us out. So didn't want to Stiff the entire staff but ridiculous to spend close to $40 for something mostly unedible w/ no staff attentive enough to tell about it

Amanda D.

Yelp
website advertises last seating for dinner is at 11pm on weekdays. I arrived just before 10 but was told dinner was over. They should change the website if this info is no longer accurate. Cute place though.

Keith B.

Yelp
I can only imagine that the pandemic was not kind. I used to be wowed when I came here, but they're clearly not recovered - understaffed and over worked was definitely apparent in their staff, but they were clearing working with an arm behind their back (the bartender had his arm in a sling!) We arrived before the brunch crowd started arriving - but they clearly aren't fully staffed yet. I'm really hoping they are able to pivot and recover for my next trip to Louisville.

Kelsey P.

Yelp
Stopped in to Silver Dollar at the tail end of their brunch service, but we were just there for a drink. I love the inside of Silver Dollar - it's so cozy. We sat at the bar and had a beer while we waited for our friends. I tried the Maine Beer Co. that was on draft. I hadn't heard of them before and the beer was really good - a Lunchtime IPA, I believe. I'd definitely order it again. It was just nice enough and sunny enough that the outdoor patio looked inticing. We all ordered Kentucky coffees and Irish coffees and sat out in the sun for a while to catch up. The patio at Silver Dollar is going to be our new place to be this spring, for sure. We made sure to finish up before 3pm since they close for a bit before dinner service starts on Saturdays.

Kara W.

Yelp
Delicious food and great atmosphere! It's a busy place, but worth the wait. We ordered the loaded nachos and they were amazing and came with a hefty portion of toppings.

Haley B.

Yelp
Just simply tasty food, nice service, and unique venue. VERY extensive liquor menu, especially bourbon. They offer a very reasonable deal on a Buffalo Trace tasting flight including Pappy (reasonable compared to anywhere else around).

Nicole K.

Yelp
The ambience is good. Their selection of bourbons and whiskeys is absolutely amazing. We went early at 4:30 and the place was empty so we had amazing service.

Daniel B.

Yelp
One of my favorite brunches in the city. Lots of drink options to pair with plates and sides to create your own journey. The Huevos Rancheros is second to none.

Kiera H.

Yelp
So disappointing. Service was painfully slow. Bourbon pours were meager. Beers were cool-ish. Chicken n Waffles tasted like curry or something, how do you screw up chicken and waffles? Mac n Cheese had weird flavor. And the place was dead, so no excuses there. Maybe that's why it was dead Don't waste your time. Oh- and we ordered a dessert to go and they screwed that up. WTH

Noel M.

Yelp
Breakfast was delicious and just what we needed! A classic breakfast plate with biscuits and gravy. The restaurant was clean and staff was friendly! We would come back!

Christopher W.

Yelp
Awesome Food & Service! Pulled pork and Mac & Cheese was excellent. Drinks and service was awesome! Great drink options- Cw

Brad R.

Yelp
TLDR: Hearty brunch eats with well executed cocktails all while being surrounded by honky tonk eccentric decor. Vibe: 4/5. Very hipster neighborhood watering hole feel to the establishment. You enter the building through a large garage bay door, remincent to a firehouse. A long wooden bar spans the length of the restaurant with booths adjacent to it. Christmas lights are strung throughout the back of the bar to add a fun tackiness to the restaurant. The restaurant was predominantly lit by natural light spilling in from the bay door. Service: 5/5. We went for brunch on a Saturday at 10am right when they opened so it was before the brunch rush. We were immediately greeted at the bay door and seated in a booth. Our waitress was great at getting our drinks and food in a timely manner. We had to be somewhere at 11am, so the wait staff was able to get us our bill quickly and without hunting someone down. Food/Drinks: 5/5. For a self proclaimed bourbon bar, in bourbon country, I had high standards for my mint julep. The Silver Dollar did not disappoint. Picturesque execution in a silver cup over flowing with finely shaved ice. Underneath the iceberg lied freshly muddled mint paired with a perfectly balanced cocktail of bourbon and simple syrup. Extremely refreshing way to start my morning. Entrees we're equally as impressive. The spicy chilaquiles had the perfect amount of spice from the sauce while preserving the crunch from the tortilla chips, a challenging feat nonetheless. The chili cheese hash was also a tasty choice. Crunchy shredded potatoes paired nicely with the house made texas style chili and dippy egg. Both entrees together played off each other nicely, giving us the perfect spicy, savory tex-mex feast.

Kelly T.

Yelp
We stopped by mid afternoon on a Friday after dropping friends off at Yum Center for a sporting event. It was a cold, rainy March day, so a bowl of beef chili with cornbread really hit the spot. The cilantro, jalapeños and cheese were on the side so you can garnish as you eat. The cornbread was buttery and moist. We also shared an order of fried okra, which is one of our favorites. Our server was great and their selection of bourbon is extensive.

Zohara C.

Yelp
Banana pudding, pecan pie are not home made. Store bought. Drinks could have been better. Fried pickles were AMAZING!!!! Brisket had a fiber in it, but they replaced it! Great service! Ambiance was low-key!

Sharron S.

Yelp
My daughter, grandson and I went for Brunch. It was very tasty. The pancake and bacon were spot on. The ice coffee was a big hit with my grandson. Our server Jer was excellent!!!

Adam B.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely fantastic and will definitely be back! Staff was very accommodating and a great atmosphere.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
I was really excited that The Silver Dollar opened back up, I loved going there pre COVID, so I made reservations for brunch as soon as I heard they were reopening. I wanted to try something new so I went with the chicken sandwich, the chicken was juicy but the sandwich itself was a little dry, it came with ranch but it was to thin and didn't make for clean eating. I think it would be better with an aioli or thicker sauce. Hubby got the Texas style hash browns and was pretty pleased. I snuck a piece of the meat off his plate and it was super tender! I can never decide between savory or sweet for brunch so we got the Churro French Toast to share and it stole the show. It came with candied almonds that added a crunch. IMO French toast can get a little soggy so I appreciated the additional texture. Overall food was pretty good, I want to go back to try the dinner menu. I will say service was great and they had these awesome tokens you could flip over to signal to the waiter you needed service. I absolutely love this idea! It's nice to be able to let the waiter know you need something without having to flag them down. Great idea, turned my 3.5 star review to a 4.

Allie T.

Yelp
Great food and very reasonable prices! The veggie burger was excellent, as were the tots.

Matt O.

Yelp
This sleepy little street is home to some of the best places you will find in all of Louisville. I would never even consider downtown as an option after stumbling onto this gem of a neighborhood. And, The Silver Dollar is the start of it all. (Depending on which way you are coming from) I have been jn a few times and must say that the night crww is amazing. Very easygoing and knowledgeable about every bourbon in the place. And there is a LOT of bourbon in this place. They also have a pretty dang good kitchen, but check the hours before you head over because they are not open super late. All in all, a solid solid spot that is a great hangout day or night.

Arianna S.

Yelp
Sasha treated us so well while we were having some drinks. She came and checked on us a couple of times and was so nice and accommodating. She rocks!

Cody S.

Yelp
Made a reservation for inside to visit this past Saturday (July 29th) and was immensely disappointed in both service and ambience. We were waiting so long between service that I had to ask if we had been forgotten. I got to order one cocktail and meal, and then never saw a server again until the check request. While we made a reservation for inside, they did not have AC on and it was 86 degrees inside. The only redeemable quality was the food was solid.

Sean M.

Yelp
The service was quite nice, although we had to sit at the bar as someone had reserved 6 different tables last minute. I thought it was a bit strange that they would let someone reserve that much space while there was a steady stream of customers coming in but ultimately it wasn't that big of a deal. We had the chicken sandwich and black bean burger with fried pickles and tater tots. Unfortunately the chicken sandwich was almost all gristle and quite tough, though the flavor was good. I would give it another try as sometimes you get unlucky with chicken breast, it didn't appear to be an issue with the way it was cooked. The tater tots and fried pickles were good appetizers that I would recommend. Also the ambiance is quite nice with dim christmas lights. I love that they use records for the music! Overall I don't feel the value justified the price, but I may end up trying here again.

Yelp
Great place for brunch and an authentic Bluegrass experience! Service was good and my old fashioned was even better.

Yelp
I ventured here around 8:00 PM and the atmosphere was comfy and cozy for a bar-type restaurant. They had Christmas lights strung all over and even behind the liquor bottles on the shelf, which appeared to make them have a warm glow. Annika helped me find their gluten-free menu and answered my many, many questions. She was super sweet and helpful, we had a nice conversation after I placed my order. I opted for the Basket of Fries, with a bowl of Vegetarian Chili, without cheese and jalapeños on the side. I had my goodies all packed up and took them home to eat. Once home I warmed up only half of the fries, topped with half of the chili, then added my own vegan cheese. Once it was all warmed up, I added ketchup and mustard and proceeded to dig into my meal. Their fries and chili are delicious, and there is a particular ingredient in the chili I could not quite place, regardless I loved it! I cannot wait to have my leftovers tomorrow! I will return to try more gluten-free options on their menu.

Yelp
weekend brunch at the silver dollar is *that girl* rediscovering some neighborhood favorites, we have gotten brunch at the silver dollar two weekends in a row. one of the employees already remembers us too everything on the menu is so delicious & well made. their new service model consists of seating yourself & ordering from your table via qr code. then you have multiple employees checking on you, bringing you food, refilling your drinks. we were SO well taken care of. if you haven't been to silver dollar in a while for weekend brunch, this is your sign to revisit it.

Yelp
We came here for Sunday Brunch and were able to sit on the patio. It's so nice, spacious, and secluded. The sweet potato fries and aioli were some of the best I've ever had. The egg sandwich was delicious as well. Rated 4 stars, because I wish they had more food choices.

Yelp
Saturday brunch. 1 bartender 2 servers Over 20 minutes sitting at the dirty bar before even being acknowledged, followed by the opening line of "hi just want to let you know food will take a while." GREAT! THANKS! I really have love this place for years but todays service and hospitality was nothing short of an embarrassment.

Yelp
I've been going to Silver Dollar for about five or six years now. My wife and I cannot get enough of that place. What bothers me about restaurants is that they try to innovate and change a functional system. In this case, changing the menu was one of the worst things they could ever do. No beer can hen (the original), Chicken and Waffles, pork chop over a bed of mashed potatoes top fried onions, brisket soaked in gravy and not barbecue sauce. This is what happened to crafthouse. May no longer exist for many reasons and one of those reasons is because their menu went to s***. I used to have a deep fried ribeye topped with pork gravy and cornbread, catfish and Chow Chow oh, I can keep going. Silver dollar is a staple in Louisville which is why people are going to continue to go despite the fact that with the menu has. But there's nothing about this menu that screams delicious now. Look at the pictures in this post. These are no longer on the menu along with the others I mentioned above. These restaurants build on what they delivered originally. I don't know why they change completely and expect for the people who support them to stay.

Yelp
Came here for late night eats since the place we were trying to go to already closed their kitchen. Very happy we came here. Dim lights, bar/restaurant with booths and separate tables. Pretty chill could imagine people coming here for a date, with friends and groups. My friend and I ordered some drinks. I got the mule drink which wasn't bad. It was strong enough for me (i am a weaksauce) but a little odd to me that it was like a snowcone over the drink. My friend told me i had to push it down as it melted, I clearly had no idea what i was doing haha. She got a bourbon gingerale. It was like $8-10 a drink i think which is typical. We both got the double cheeseburger and options of the works (lettuce, tomato, onion). I got all the works with pepperjack cheese. Cooked super well, ordered it medium. Not too oily and the juices ran down from every bite. Be prepared to get messy especially with all the sauces they have like salsa verde, hot, bbq and spicy af. Our waiter was hilarious and super friendly/attentive. Had a whole shpeal on the sauces. They were spicy enough to kick my burger up a notch. I used the salsa verde and the spicy af one. $10 burger nice We ordered a side of fries/sweet potato fries which came with sauces as well. Fairly big plate of that my sweet potato fries were $2 which was awesome. May try some appetizers next time and if we come with more people. Heard they're good.

Yelp
An old firehouse turned bar, this place was hopping! We grabbed two seats at the bar and were handed food, cocktail and special menus right away. I went with the Gold Rush, at my date's recommendation. It was so good. Reminded me of a whiskey sour. He had the red hot summer, a mezcal cocktail. It was tasty. Bartenders were super attentive. One started to sing! We had a great time just relaxing and chatting. We did not have an appetite for food but there was a lot on the menu that looked good. Bathrooms are clean. Lots of table seating. Fun place to grab a drink, for sure.
