This review is about the dining at the W, the Living Room. Every other department of the hotel is phenomenal.
We had breakfast at the Living Room multiple times and every single time we waited super long for the food. The menu was small and the same every day, and the food was so-so. The servers were rude, there was only one server who was kind and timely, named Joc. The other servers had attitudes and treated my siblings and I ruder because we are younger than their usual customers. We brought our coffee in from another store, and the server came up to us and said "Do I really have to tell you about the drinks again? I am confident I told you already you can't have outside food or drink in." She was very condescending.
When we finally came back to eat, we ordered our food right away and I told the server exactly what I had been ordering the days before, and she said "Oh wow that's a lot of modifications," very scornfully. We asked to have the food out very soon seeing as we had a reservation to get somewhere and they had already made us wait to finish our drinks, and she said "Honestly we're super busy, I can't guarantee we can get the food out soon." The restaurant was... less than half full. We asked if this was "busy" for them, and she said she had 20 tables... we counted and there was 10 tables, and it shouldn't be that hard seeing as the menu is tiny. (My boyfriend and I both work at restaurants... we understand what a "busy" restaurant looks like.) They ended up making us extremely late for our reservation.
This type of untimely, rude service at the Living Room has been repeated throughout our entire stay at the W, unfortunately. You'd be better off going to one of the great bakeries in walking distance from the hotel for breakfast. I hope they can add some training for the servers because every other department of the hotel is amazing.
