The 15 Best Hotels in Denver

"A newly opened entry in a corner of Denver that’s jam-packed with chain hotels, the Slate attracts a professional crowd who appreciate its proximity to the nearby convention center. (And its onsite meeting and events spaces provide a worthy counterpart right onsite.) Public spaces feel subdued and smartly designed, and come wintertime, you'll be tempted to linger around the lobby fireplace. The Slate is located just a few steps away from the Colorado Convention Center and its iconic Big Blue Bear statue, and while Denver isn’t always known for its pedestrian-friendliness, this particular corner of downtown is teeming with walkable options. Hilton loyalists will love this new member of the Tapestry Collection." - Megan Barber, Nicholas DeRenzo

My room was incredibly well priced for its proximity to the convention center, but it was also on the first floor (essentially subterranean) and had no natural light. There were what looked like two windows at the very top, but no light came through them. Aside from the fallout shelter environment inside the room, the mattress was super comfortable and the plumbing worked great. All the staff at the hotel were fantastic - kind and helpful. The restaurant is surprisingly good, and the little self-service market carried a good amount of snacks. I would absolutely stay here again, but might consider upgrading my room in the future.

Google
What an incredible find! First time in Denver and this place popped up and is only place that actually answered the phone when I called. The staff was amazing, helpful, friendly, and really made the experience that much better, especially Fern at the bar. Place is super clean, and it is a renovated old historic school. Only downfall is no pool. I was on the first floor which is basically a basement level and I had 20 foot ceiling. Truly amazing place and a great price with everything you need, including a gym and a bunch of places nearby that are walkable. 1 mile from Coors field, 10 min walk to dispensary, a bunch of restaurants, and they have convenient valet that keeps your car very close however it is not Included in room price

The Slate Hotel – Tapestry Collection by Hilton is one of downtown Denver’s most thoughtfully designed properties — and truly not to be overlooked. From the moment you walk into the welcoming lobby and modern bar, it’s clear this hotel was built with intention and style. The flexible event spaces feel elevated and unique — think library-inspired design, rich textures, and smart touches like floor-to-ceiling drape to define the room. Outside, the patio deck with a fire pit and cozy seating creates a warm, relaxed environment that’s ideal for gatherings. We booked this hotel for its layout and vibe — and were pleasantly surprised by just how exceptional the cuisine and catering turned out to be. Every dish was seasonal, fresh, and beautifully presented. For our standing reception, they served bite-sized options with thoughtful descriptions and genuine smiles. Guests raved all night. The culinary team clearly takes pride in their work, and it shows. Whether you’re hosting a social event, meeting, or full buyout, The Slate offers design-forward spaces, standout food, and an experience that feels both polished and personal. A true hidden gem across from the Convention Center.

We came down to Denver for a mother-daughter weekend, and the hotel was absolutely great! Specifically Spyke, one of your valet attendants. He was incredibly helpful and very understanding! The only issue we had was how expensive the valet parking was, so we found another lot about half a block away from the hotel. We could only pay for 12 hours at a time and he was very helpful with our parking issue. He was great to visit with as well! The rest of the staff was great as well! Rooms are nice and clean too! Highly recommend!

Google
BUYER BEWARE. FIRST FLOOR ROOMS ARE HORRIBLE. IT IS BELOW GRADE AND YOU CANNOT SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS. Check in was not impressive. She didn't even write down my room number so when I got to the first floor I had to go all the way back to the front desk. These first floor rooms feel like a jail cell. I mentioned this to the front desk that I feel like I was swindle on this room that I am paying over $300 a night for. I kindly said the room gives me some claustrofobia and made me uncomfortable should there be a fire. They did not care, offered to charged me for one night and said I can go somewhere else. I asked to speak with the supervisor on duty and was told one wasn't available. How can a hotel this size not have a manager on duty? Keep in mind your ground floor (below ground really) has windows that are on the street with multiple homeless people walking by. This isn't a good part of town. Beyond disappointed and will never stay here again.

Google
hotel is very clean, nice look and feel. centrally located in Denver near Arts complex and convention center as the district area. Only one negative i could find. There seems to be an underlying dissatisfaction with the staff. They put on a good face but clearly the Hotel is not treating their staff well. I observed one busy morning as convention attendees wanted coffee and breakfast. The staff in the bar/restaurant we quite busy at this time so it took nearly 15 minutes just to be ackowledged by the staff. The patrons would have been happy with coffee until the food arrrived which was another 20 minutes. Furthermore, i observed over 4 different patrons disccussing how bad the service was as they waited so long for just coffee. I suggested to the front staff they just put a self service coffee area for patrons. Yes, the hotel would lose a few bucks by supplying coffee at no charge but the hotel is really losing as i overheard many conversations saying they wouldnt stay at the Slate Hotel again just for this reason. Putting a self service area for coffee would relieve pressure on the staff, satisfy guests especially those waiting for breakdfast....just my opinion...but seems like a really easy fix.

Stayed here while attending a conference at the convention center - incredibly convenient location. Staff was very nice. The school theme is played up well, but not over the top, and it’s awesome to see the building preserved. The restaurant is convenient and good!||I stayed in a King room and found it was well decorated with convenient amenities (eg steamer, nice shower, armchair with ottoman), but are on the small side if that’s important to you. Also, I know many people hate barn style/slider doors on bathrooms if sharing a room, so be warned privacy is not the greatest in that regard! ||The one warning I will give is that if you need to order something from Amazon or have any mail/packages delivered, they will charge you a $10 per item holding fee. This even applies to envelope packages. This info was very hard to find in the fine print (eg not on their main site, but on the Hilton site) so I was surprised to see it on my bill. I would’ve used a nearby Amazon locker had I known. ||Overall, I would definitely stay here again.

Google
I've been a loyal Hilton customer for nearly 15 years, exclusively choosing Hilton for all of my business travel. Unfortunately, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and questioning that loyalty. Last week, my flight to Denver was unexpectedly cancelled, forcing me to cancel my hotel reservation. I did so promptly online. To my surprise, I discovered (today) a $165 charge on my credit card for that same reservation. When I contacted the hotel to resolve what I assumed was a simple oversight, I was told my cancellation was made too close to the stay date - and that I would still be charged in full. What truly stunned me wasn't just the charge - it was the complete lack of understanding or willingness to help from the front desk manager, Jordan Pearce. Rather than offering any solution or even showing empathy, he dismissed my concerns, stating I had waited "a week too long" to follow up. Frankly, had I known Hilton would take this hardline stance, I would have reached out the night my flight was cancelled. But I had trusted that my online cancellation would suffice - as it always has in the past. In all my years as a Diamond member, I've had to cancel stays due to circumstances outside my control, and Hilton has always handled it with grace and professionalism. This experience felt cold, transactional, and deeply uncharacteristic of the brand I've supported for over a decade. To this hotel: I hope the $165 was worth it. Because it cost Hilton a loyal, long-term business customer. At this point, it's no longer about the money - it's about the principle and how I was treated. This kind of service is unacceptable, and sadly, it has caused me to reconsider my entire relationship with Hilton.

Yelp
Denver is a refreshingly modern downtown and The Slate embodies the motif but with distinction. I highly recommend. Food menu is well executed. Best hotel bar that doesn't feel like a hotel bar. Definitely will return. Meow Wolf!!!!

Yelp
This property has so much character. It's on the grounds of an old school. The interior design plays into the school building theme and it's very clever. I only stayed here for one night. About twelve hours to be exact. Was staying for my anniversary and contacted the hotel prior to arriving. I hold top tier Hilton status and was given a nice upgrade. Everything was like new in the room. It was very clean. Bed was so comfortable. Bathroom wasn't huge, but thoughtfully designed. Water pressure and temperature outstanding. Bathroom products were from a line new to me and they were lovely. There is a restaurant inside called Teachers Lounge that I didn't get to experience, but the bar looked well curated. I gave four stars instead of five for two reasons: 1) valet parking is the only option and it's $59 whether you park for a few hours or twelve like me. Found out there are lots less than $20 a night nearby. 2) This stay was for a milestone anniversary and I contacted management before arrival to discuss this . I received an upgrade due to my loyalty status, but a note, a snack or libation would have been really nice to see inside the room. Great hotel overall and I will be back.

Yelp
Just checked in. Were forced into a 2 queen room that was screaming hot. Could not set the AC because they have a master control but the engineer who has to be called to switch the thing to cool, came up to tell us we wanted it on heat last night... Alas, We checked in 30 minutes or so prior to him coming up stairs. This tell me that the hotel staff doesn't communicate with engineering staff or the engineering staff doesn't check new move-ins. Additionally, we were forced into a ADA room that has, if I needed it, a seat and several bars. When I am wheelchair bound, I will be grateful. Today I am not. The chair impedes being able to take a shower comfortably. Avoid it here. The Mountain View upgrade means nothing to us at all. A co for table room that we reserved does. Boo! Nice job remaking this old building. Poor hotel management, which, I believe may be the Hilton way...or is it just the Hilton Denver locations way... I will be happy to provide an update if things get better, but I am not expecting that they will.

Yelp
Whenever I have the chance to stay at a boutique hotel, I seize the opportunity! This was my second stay at a Tapestry hotel by Hilton, following my recent stay at the Lorenzo in Dallas. I loved the overall vibe---an old school reconverted into a hotel! The lounge in the lobby had plenty of cozy couches, work chairs, and desktops. There were only a few drawbacks---my room seemed kind of small (or was the bed/furniture too big?) and there was no pool. Besides that, the room was clean and comfy. I was able to use my $15 Hilton Honors credit at the snack shop and at the Teacher's Lounge restaurant and bar. The location is in a convenient area of Downtown Denver, where many hotels tend to be located. The check-in staff and housekeeping were nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Denver!

Yelp
I can't say enough about how amazing this place is! If your staying in Denver than this is the only place you should be staying at. The Historical building was a Trade school and they've done a great job of carrying the theme into every little detail! The drinks and food are amazing and the staff have been so helpful and friendly. If your. It staying here then at least come check it out!

Yelp
The hotel part is ok and location is ok (I could easily walk to Ball Arena so that is really all I cared about by booking here) but here is why I am hitting them with the one-star. I am diamond status and got literally nothing out of my stay here, not even a token upgrade. Far worse, I was told by the check-in guy at the front desk that I had a $15 daily shop credit at the little store next to the front desk, I just type in my room number to pay - I did this, for a few $4 or $6 bottles of water for a few days, and then I actually got charged on my credit card for every single bottle of water on the day I checked out of the hotel, so that $15 daily shop credit never materialized to cover my ~$10 per day of water bottles. I get treated better at bottom tier Hilton brands in shrek-country swamps out by airports, so this hotel was an absolute embarrassment for the Tapestry Collection which is normally decently-luxury enough I choo-choo-choose them over other collections in the brand. An acquaintance of a acquaintance claims to have been at a party with Paris Hilton somewhat recently so I will make sure my displeasure with this particular hotel is known in the elaborate game of telephone between people who are so self centred in the early parts of the telephone chain I am sure they do not care about my small gripes about needing to pay for water bottles since I was misled at check in about who was actually footing the bills for these bad boys of Bobby Boucher's favourite beverage. Like me, you may only end up here if the nicer Embassy Suites around the Dr. John cornder is fully booked up for a [checks my notes] furries convention like it has been the last two times I was in town for Avs games - if so, don't expect any kind of special treatment, and don't believe their filthy muggle lies about the $15 daily credit since they will just charge your credit card on file all the same.

Yelp
One of the great joys of being a Yelp reviewer is discovering wonderful businesses and writing about it - The Slate is certainly one that indulged me with that. A beautiful hotel, converted from an old public school (how cool is that!) and designed with many modern comforts and amenities, The Slate was my home away from home for a week while attending a conference at the Denver Convention Center. The first impression (front desk, lobby, sitting area, and library) was clean and pristine. Long hallways remind the guests of the building's past and wall decors of school-themed art tell the stories its prior life. My room was at the corner (#377) and super quiet. There are two rooms: the sleeping quarter and the living room. Both have huge windows with power-controlled shades. Each has a TV (mounted on a blackboard!), clean carpet, and great lighting. The tall ceiling made the room feel more spacious. Nice bathroom with big mirror and modern shower. My room was a handicap accessible room so the shower area did not have a divider. Water spills was a slight problem. Comfortable AC, large full size mirror near the door, coat hangers, charging stations.... Someone had put it some good thoughts to design a room for the travelers. My hat off to them. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location is great! While other hotels may have addresses closer to the Convention Center, there's a shortcut where you cut through the parking lot and get to the entrance to the Convention Center within minutes. My stay here was super pleasant and I wish I get to come back! P.s. one small annoyance is the light in the bathroom turns on by motion sensor- a poor design for people who may want to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night! I found a way to disable the sensor: if you use the black bag of the blow dryer and prop it against the wall where the sensor is, you can cover it and prevent the light from coming on.

Yelp
After a lot of agonizing about where to stay in Denver (I'm a VERY fussy hotel guest), we went with The Slate, and I'm thrilled that we did! The location is a little off the beaten path, but that made the foot traffic a little quieter which was nice. The room was way bigger than photos that I've seen indicated. It was plenty spacious and had every amenity necessary. Most importantly, it was very clean. All the surfaces were sparkling. The beds and floors were tidy. The bathroom was clean except for a stray hair or two in the shower. I was very comfortable here, and I'm the person who travels with my own pillow cases because I'm a germaphobe. The A/C was cold and the shower got plenty hot. The gym was pretty good. Two peloton bikes, three treadmills, one rower, two elliptical, a nice cable machine, dumbbells up to 75lbs, two great benches, and some other yoga like stuff. Filtered water and towels are aplenty. It was very clean and well air conditioned. We didn't try the restaurant but it looked cozy and the food looked good. The lobby was comforting and relaxing. The employees were all super helpful and the front desk held our bags for a few hours safely and no problem. The only real complaint was the noisy road outside our room. If you're a light sleeper, get a room on the side of the building not near Colfax. My stay in Denver was excellent thanks to The Slate!

Yelp
The quality of service and hospitality of this hotel does not match that of Denver and the local area. The building is interesting/neat, but that fact does not balance out the terrible hotel staff. I am a top tier Marriott Bonvoy member after years of business travel. Booked this hotel to see if it was worth switching back to Hilton. Based on this experience, I am going to stay put and be very happy about doing so. Valet staff are useless, for $54/night I just expect a little bit extra. Front desk staff is less than helpful. Restaurant staff are barely competent. Tyler was the one bright spot of our trip. He provided great service, offered suggestions for what to do that day, and was spot on. His hospitality and how we were treated at the places that he suggested is what will get us back to Denver. My recommendation, stay somewhere else. If this is any example of how Hilton Properties are run in Denver, stay with a completely different hotel brand. The ownership and staff at this hotel are not honoring the building or the city where it is located. Stay away until further notice.

Yelp
This hotel is new in the downtown Denver area. It used to be a Trade School. I loved my stay. I ate at the Teacher's Lounge twice (hotel's restaurant). The hallways reminded me of school. I will definitely be staying here again. The rooms were small but new and clean.

Yelp
Never have I ever... ++ Stayed in a converted trade school turned hotel, UNTIL NOW! ++ Been greeted with my name on the tv in my hotel room, UNTIL NOW! ++ Had a hotel room complete with every bell and whistle, UNTIL NOW! ++ Stayed in a room adjacent to the elevators where I couldn't hear the elevators, UNTIL NOW! ++ Had a hotel offer to hold my bags after checkout while I finished up a prior obligation at the Colorado Convention Center, UNTIL NOW! My stay at The Slate was exceptional! From the minute I checked in, until my checkout - everyone and everything was completely wonderful! I can't wait until next year's Great American Beer Festival (GABF) Staycation at The Slate. I will absolutely be back. **Pro Tip: The valet will run you $50. However, there is a parking lot a block away (that the valet recommended to me) that will run you $16 a day. Making my 3-day parking total the same as a single day of valet service. That's a win in my frugal book!

Yelp
Wish management would have tried to make it right. I did get a text trying to resolve our issues on our last but by then it was too late.

Yelp
Spent a delightful evening recently at the new Slate Hotel in Denver. The appetizers were wonderful, as was every single staff member, from the valet attendant, to the restaurant staff, to the various attendants we saw throughout the evening. Just so happens my grandmother was an Emily Griffith follower, so it was especially rich to see the pages out of a 1916 textbook copied on the wallpaper in the hotel bathrooms. As well as a copy of a "slate" blackboard on the wall behind the front desk that was made of an old library card catalog. No doubt Emily... and my Nana Rose are pleased with this re-purposing! Looking forward to a return visit to stay in one of the cozy and fun hotel rooms!

B B.

Yelp
Stayed two nights on business. Perfection in the room, everything was spotless and very quiet. No slamming doors or anything was heard. Had two meals in the Teachers lounge and service and food were both excellent. Front desk could do better being more pleasant and accommodating which is an easy fix. "Hi how was your stay or hello welcome how can we help you" was missing. Overall I'll come back due to the impeccable room.

Extremely comfortable and clean hotel; great food plus room service. Easy access to the convention center and downtown Denver area!

Yelp
This was probably the coolest hotel my bf and I have ever been in! Outside was pretty sketch, it was hard to find and we had to make a couple turns because all we could see was "Miriam's Alley" or whatever it was. It's near a strip club, some parking structures, and a few homeless people were walking around. Have some faith though. Once we entered, we were asked if we would like to use the valet service. It was $54/night. Excuse me, WHAT, no thank you. The valet driver was nice enough to give us options of where to park. He was nice and accommodating, didn't seem annoyed that we didn't want to use their services. We appreciated that. He said we could park at the curb and pay hourly through a meter, or there were 2 parking spots available at a walking distance. One was for $22/day, the other was $16/day. We went with the $16/day, a little further down but it really wasn't bad at all. Once we stepped in the hotel my mind was blown. The overall theme and interior design of the hotel was beautiful. The host was friendly, explained all we needed to know, and very charismatic. We got our keys in a manner of minutes. The deposit is $100 that they put on hold, but if you buy anything (store, bar, food, room service) they will take it out of that deposit first if you charge it to your room. Once we started walking to our room, I was just in awe. They have a bar/restaurant called The Teacher's Lounge to the right and the design was just as beautiful. The drinks and food were fantastic as well, but that's another review on its own. They really kept and preserved the aesthetic of the old school. The stairwell was still there and reminded me of school days. The first floor had water fountains and a water fill station, as well as the gym. Each floor had an ice machine. Once we entered our room, immediately you can smell the cleanliness. The room was small and simple in their design, but had some wonderful pieces like the bar height desk and chair. The table tops and counters sparkled. The bed was made neatly. The black out shades was nice, especially after a night out of drinking. I liked the lamp and each side of the bed had outlets and USB/USB-C ports. There was a mini fridge, coffee machine, and complimentary 2 bottles of water. The bathroom was clean and beautiful, had a rain shower and a hand held body spray. Just like all hotels after Covid, they don't clean your room unless you request it or stay longer than 3 days. We were here for 2 nights and we very much enjoyed our stay.

Cool nostalgic spot inside a former technical school. Good food and bev, lounge, hidden entrance.

Yelp
I really teetered between 4 and 5 stars for this one. I ended up going with 4 because of the valet parking. Sorry guys but $50 per night for valet is robbery. If it had been $50 flat for our 2 night stay? Absolutely would have paid it. But principal alone I'm not paying that much for one night. Especially when the 16th St Mall/Denver Pavilions (and other local attractions) are so close. Okay with all that out of the way, this is an absolute darling little hotel and I throughly enjoyed my stay here. The rainfall shower was amazing and so was the black out curtains that really did get the room pitch black. I know this is a newer hotel and I genuinely wondered if our room had even been used before because it was just that pristine. Rooms were a little small but had almost everything you could possibly need- our room had a fridge but no microwave, although it looked like they had a community microwave down the hall close to the lobby. The bar prices were a little steep but it is a nice bar and the bartenders are very friendly and helpful. I didn't try any food, but the prices seemed pretty reasonable, and it looked like they had some tasty stuff on the menu. Unfortunately no free continental breakfast situation, just go down and order and pay like a normal restaurant. It is located across the street from a strip club, although I don't think it was in operation while we were here. This particular part of town mostly has patrons of the 16th st mall and the Denver athletic club around the hotel, so even though it's across from a strip club, I didn't find it to be a sketchy area or anything. Okay so back to the parking situation....... the whole valet thing is a headache right? BUT they do have paid lots on almost all sides of the hotel. The sign says $16 a night but when we went to pay the machine (for 2 nights) the machine charged us $64. Idk why, because it was a holiday? Not the hotels fault just FYI. The fact that there were so many lots around the hotel is why I only deducted one star. If I had to hike back from parking my car I would be pissed; but distance wise it actually wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. If you're an able bodied person I don't foresee it being an issue. Now here's the thing, if you have mobility issues or are elderly or anything like that and are traveling alone, and if you aren't able/willing to pay for valet- I would really suggest choosing another hotel. You will have to cross the street, deal with uneven pavement, pay for parking etc. like I wouldn't be able to send my grandma here to stay by herself unless she was using valet. Overall, this is such a sweet little gem of a hotel, I would definitely stay here again; just know what you're getting into as far as parking.

Yelp
Great stay, beginning to end. Check is was a breeze, staff were welcoming and friendly. A little weird to find my room (my room was on level 1, but check in is on level 2) but once I was orientated to the space it was no problem. Room was great - no ironing board or iron but they were brought very promptly upon request. Modern and comfortable room. Had everything I needed. Outlets everywhere (including where you needed them) and the soaps/shampoos smelled wonderful. Overall it was a fantastic experience and extremely close to the convention center (why I was there) so convenient also. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Restaurant takes for ever and limited staff. For the price I expected much more

Yelp
I love this place! Unique in a whole different way. The owners of this place did an outstanding job keeping so much of a school theme together for this place. I actually like the open stairways like schools have versus how hotels have their stairways. This place is one of the most unique places I have ever seen after such a big remodel. Also outside has such a great set up with some of the school type games outside around it. I plan to tell all my friends to stay here if they are looking for a place to visit or even find a place just to visit.

Yelp
Cool hotel. Comfy. Small rooms. And weird sounds during the night. I'd give this place a 3.5 stars but the staff was beyond rude. The "manager" at the front was grumpy. She was rude to the guest in the phone and then just mean when I got there. I'm in hotels all the time and it's been a few years since anything like this. Without going into details.... If you want a unique hotel, this is your spot. But expect small rooms, rude staff and make sure to take the stairs, they are awesome.

Yelp
Clean, swanky, and brand new. All good things I love in a hotel. Needed to book a staycation to maintain my Hilton Diamond status for an upcoming vacation, so was delighted to see this hotel option near the Denver Performing Arts Complex (DPAC). Found a performance that matched my style, and luckily booked it last minute, the day before, and everything worked out perfectly. Checked in 1-hour before my show, parking in a simple $1/30-min street meter across the street, stated my usual hotel preferences, got a room with exactly those parameters, dropped my overnight bag, and dashed off to Boettcher. Parked overnight at DPAC, and walked here after the show - with pepper spray in hand - as I feel safer in downtown Chicago, DC, and NYC than Denver, but it was a safe walk nonetheless. And I knew I could always call Lyft. Things I love: - stylish, brand new, clean marble, carpet, bedding, furniture, and interior design materials - clean, new electronics: no fears of dirty remotes or phones / alarm clocks - Netflix on the TV! - fresh smelling hand soap, lotion, and full sizes of all toiletries (e.g., shampoo, conditioner, lotion) - ample hand & body towel hooks in the WC - a stylish, clean, new, rain shower, with a huge towel rack (great use of small space) - a barn door for the WC - cool wallpaper (newspaper / book design) - excellent use of space in the small/efficient WC, with beautiful, brand new fixtures - a huge full-length mirror, well positioned away from the bed (Feng Shui ;) ) - a well placed winter coat hook - a TV mounted on a "chalkboard" - a students desk - multiple lighting options, from dim to bright - a privacy shade, with a blackout curtain behind it - smartly placed dresser drawers hidden throughout the bedroom, for longer stays - a well designed closet, with luggage rack - a stylish mini fridge (that I could also turn off, to both dim the bright light & mute its sound) - a perfectly stocked coffee bar - Built-in, conveniently located on the nightstand & all surfaces USB-A *AND* USB-C charging ports! - Comfy bedding & pillows - High ceilings Opportunities for improvement: - the blackout shade did not lower evenly all the way, allowing a sharp, bright sliver of direct sunlight shining into my face upon wake-up (luckily I brought my eye sleep mask, and only noticed when I woke up briefly early in the AM). Still, this was annoying, and a pet peeve. Blackout shades are tricky to install. Sometimes new hotels require fine-tuning. - While convenient, the bright, bathroom light is on a motion sensor. Cool for touch-less ease. Not cool for interim sleep potty breaks, while briefly using the loo in between sleeping / lounging. I preferred the subtle nightlight, but could not find a way to override the automatic bright light overhead, waking me up, and ruining my dozing. - Thermostat: though it was set to 69, the room temp was 72. I tried adjusting it. No dice. Not a fan of not having full control, just like the bathroom light (see above). Sometimes new technology is not as good as old. - Mattress: comfy king bed, and I slept great, but it felt like one side of the bed sloped down slightly - Full-Sized Toiletries: as much as I LOVE these, unfortunately housekeeping did not clean-up / wipe the spilled residue on the shampoo & showed gel from the previous guest, so this was slightly unbecoming All in all, I love this hotel. Most of all, because it's clean, brand new, and well designed. I'd definitely recommend this hotel, and stay here again.

Yelp
History is amazing! Pay attention- awesome preservation. Staff were friendly. Bartender (Jose) was the most skilled individual I ever seen- multiple tasking with a smile and the drinks were art. Rooms sparkling clean- again, the history is beautiful!

Yelp
Overall I was happy staying here. I told my boyfriend we should definitely return. We got this room to get away and we went to the Jason Aldean concert. We got the birria tacos and they were delicious. I tried the amaretto sour and it was perfect! We left the concert early and even got a cab to make it back quicker. We got to the bar at 10:48pm and I hoped to order another amaretto sour but unfortunately last call is at 10:45pm. I couldn't believe we were denied but rules are rules.

Yelp
Cool digs, kind staff that went out of their way to be so helpful (my husband needed a place to record a music vocal and they found him a spot!) and a supremely clean room comfortable bed. The room was small, but exactly what we needed for a one-night stay. Walkable from downtown. If we ever come back to Denver, we'll surely stay again!

Yelp
Slate is a new hotel right across from the convention center that's in a former school. And you can tell, as the hall way is really wide and provides great separation between the rooms. The room was clean and modern although some may find the higher desk not as comfortable. The AC system is probably the best I have encountered at a hotel as the system was extremely responsive and quiet. The restaurant/bar was also a nice surprise, as it was better than the typical Hilton offering. The only thing that was a little distracting was parking as it was $49, which is higher than Seattle or SF. But the price of the room was reasonable so I would probably stay here again.

Yelp
My partner and I met at Emily Griffith a few years back and decided to come back and stay at The Slate since it was turned into a Hotel. We were super excited and overwhelmed with the gooey feelings this place brought back and remembering the memories we made here back then. It was a lovely stay. From reserving our room, to the staff and even the valet everything was easy and stress free. Everyone was super welcoming, friendly and attentive. The room was on the smaller side but felt very cozy and romantic. It would stay here again.

Yelp
Nice and brand new hotel-good location and staff was great too. The food and drinks at the hotel were also very good. The Gym is also very good and has everything you need to get a nice workout in. I would give 5 stars but the rooms are super small and by small I mean smallest I've ever seen for a Hilton Hotel. PS-Valet is $50 bucks but that's Denver for you

Yelp
We loved this hotel!! The atmosphere was a mix of historical charm and comforts of new amenity's. The room was comfortable and clean. The bed, linens & furnishings were pleasing to the body and soul. The vintage atmosphere was fantastic. We loved the food and drinks, at the bar, where we had Benjamin as our bartender. Great conversation. Food tasted fantastic, although the pace of the food coming out was slow. Friendly staff, from front desk to valet. All around one of our favorite hotels in the Hilton family in Denver!!!

Yelp
Loved this hotel! Such a cool concept keeping the theme of a school when it used to be a school! You walk in and it's extremely clean and welcoming! I would definitely stay here again

Yelp
A perfect stay in every single way. Staff was helpful and friendly, and the food was out of this world. We had a great time in this beautiful hotel and will return if we ever are in Denver again. Give The Slate a try, you'll be happy you did.

Yelp
They opened on Tuesday May 24th. Was in town for the holidays weekend and booked. When I checked in on Friday the 27th they could not give me a room key because they could not get their system up. After waiting 30 minutes and being directed to their teachers lounge I was able to get into my room. I settled in and after showered and changing . I requested my car back to leave, I waited another 20 for my vehicle to be returned to the property. After asking why it took so long they're reply was " your car is being parked at a different location 3 blocks away at another Hilton location "I left for the night and as I returned I was met with 6 employees and not one of them would help me check out at their market. I was prompted to use their system that did not work and they had to help. I'd wait a few months for the staff to change book.

The school hotel brought me back to my grade school years lol so much nostalgia and the shrimp and grits from the restaurant is sooooo good! Lastly, the bartender XAN is literally the best!!!!! Best Moscow mule and little men plus the specialty drinks are named after book titles would definitely come back again

Yelp
The Slate is a quiet convenient gem in downtown Denver, close to museums, the convention center and DCPA. The rooms were clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The ambiance and history of the hotel is great. We were cheerfully greeted by valet Gavin who took great care of us upon our arrival. Although valet parking was expensive, we were happy for the security and quick service. We stayed two nights and really lucked out with our server Joselyn who waited on us for our great dinner our first night at the Teachers Lounge, and then later in the very nice bar area. Joselyn was quite knowledgeable about the wine and specialty drink lists and was a delightful presence during our entire stay.

Yelp
I booked a room for 2 nights w/ The Slate. There was a plumbing issue in my bathroom the first night which was making loud sounds and pushed sewage up into the shower and bathroom floor starting at 4 am all the way until 10am. I am only leaving a bad review because the customer service was horrible in resolving the problem. I had stepped in sewage water and they wouldn't bring the key for the new room right next door to mine up to my room. So I had to get dressed before taking a shower, take all my stuff to the lobby then return with the key. They also refused any partial compensation. Brandon at the front desk refused to give me the managers contact information falsely stating that he was the supervisor. When I did get in touch with Heather, the actual manager, she also refused any compensation -- denying that the quality of service I received from them the first night was anything less that acceptable. I explained that the sound kept me awake from 5am to 9am but they didn't seem to care.

Yelp
5 -Star Hospitality treatment at this hotel. Please do yourself a favor and book the Slate Denver when traveling to Downtown Denver. Hannah the manager was great and made sure our stay was amazing. Thank you Hannah for just being amazing! Kira also at the restaurant is hands down the best server I've had in a long time. Overall this was the best trip ever because of my stay at the Slate.

Yelp
This hotel is perfect for a business trip or a weekend in Denver. From its well thought out main lobby and bar to the original school theme, it is awesome.

Yelp
I recommend this business because the restaurant is probably the most well-run kitchen I have ever seen. I had the opportunity to work as a guest in their kitchen for one day. Not only were they making the food in an elegant sort of way, knowing the exact spices and nuances for the palate But the staff worked together and got along very well. Out of that sort of goodwill comes better food that is made with much more love. You need to go to this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We loved our stay at The Slate. We came for a long weekend and stayed four nights. The staff was very friendly and always available to help or answer questions. Our room was a little small but was super comfortable and clean. It's a great location and we walked to the Denver Art Museum, the central library, Civic Center Park, the Paramount theater, and restaurants downtown. And if you need to catch the bus, it's just a couple blocks away. Breakfast is a little pricey, but the Jalapeno Cheese breakfast sandwich is wicked good. Seriously, have breakfast there at least once.

Yelp
Hotels Shmotels What's the diff....The Slate is! what a trip, We walked into the Avalanche Cup Parade unwittingly then pedicabbed to the property. Personnel well trained and truly hospitable. (wish I had done this 2 weeks ago when I remembered their names but Alley on the desk, Justin in the lounge and GM Kirby? were are all great) Great location central to everything and truly unique. Be sure to visit the Emily Griffith statue near the capital. We will be back in a year and I want to see a photo album of the restoration, before during and after etc. Thanks!

Yelp
I was a little cautious as the hotel just opened a few weeks ago. It's an old school house. I was SO impressed. Granted a few kinks as with any new hotel (I had to call to have my TV hooked up), but the staff, cleanliness, and the ambiance made up for it. When I checked in I was tired from a day of travel but tortilla soup and a glass of wine at the bar before bed was just what the doctor ordered. Great location! Walking distance to many great restaurants and shopping.
