Stayed in the dorm for two nights. Beds are great (unless your over 190cm). The sanitation facilities should definitely be improved, for example with a lock and a (shower) curtain to avoid wet floors and glimpses from the street. Staff was not too spontaneous, yet they are very helpful and friendly ones you break the ice. Complementary breakfast was simple but tasty. Definitely recommend the place.

I've stayed at the Sleepy Hippo around 4 or 5 times this year. Travelling with work this was an affordable option, although I did not expect the wonderful hospitality and friendliness from owners Richard and Emmanuel.|They're cool and laid back guys who will give advice and accomodate. The food options are limited but nice, the breakfast is a great start. The rooms have fans and ac, hot showers on request, super comfy beds and are always clean. |The place is central to get around Accra with a short walk to Osu where there are shops and restaurants, a cheap taxi to the tourist sites.|I recommend this stay for anyone who wants to feel safe, welcome and a no fuss option with the basic comforts.

It was an ok place to stay. I stayed here in December of 2018 for 4 days. I stayed in the dormitory room. The facilities are nice enough. If I remember correctly, there is no kitchen available for guests to use, so you can't prepare your own meals. No common area. The room that I stayed in had A/C. There is a random out-of-service hot tub next to the building which had turned into a mosquito breeding ground. I got bitten a lot. Complimentary breakfast is very basic- eggs and coffee, nothing too special. The guy behind the desk, Richard, is super nice and helpful. Nice balcony overlooking the city on the 3rd floor. Overall, it was all right, nothing special. I would recommend going to Somewhere Nice instead- similar price and located in the same neighborhood. Somewhere Nice has an amazing breakfast, a small swimming pool, common area and a kitchen that you can use to prepare your own meals. Also, Somewhere Nice doesn't have the mosquito-infested hot tub.

Really awesome place, especially for backpackers, it has a balcony, swimming area, projector as well as a complementary breakfast. It's got a unique and inspiring atmosphere which you can really see in the bench made out of old crates, rooms made of bamboo and amazing art in each room. This place has character but also is comfortable.

Small but well organized holiday apartment. I lodged in the dormitory and the experience was awesome. The staff are very friendly and supportive. The environment is very neat. And above all is pocket friendly and offers real value for money.

Nice place, great prices, great affordability. However, you can tell that the owners are absent for example a leaky sink was fixed with a bucket. However the simple patch did not help the sink issue. The leak splash zone was bigger than the bucket so I got soaked every time I used the sink.

Stayed here twice recently. I don’t get the great reviews as I thought this place was fine but not great. Quiet location but you need a taxi to get anywhere. Private rooms are a good price compared to Accra hotels but you don’t get much for your money either. No towel or top sheet, few things didn’t work in my room first time I stayed such as the a/c and no water one day, the rooftop is only three chairs and a table, Wi-Fi didn’t work and they only had a mobile internet in the reception area which was often out of credit both times I stayed. Airport pick didn’t arrive though they confirmed the booking the night before. Not a lot was explained on check in and with some of the staff you just get the impression that you’re a bit of a nuisance. Kitchen staff were great though and good to have cold beer and food downstairs.

Surprised at some of the reviews, cause for this price this is an excellent place to stay. The rooms have charming decor, AC and fan, king size beds and the Wi-Fi is decent if you got work to do. The staff is very helpful with all sorts or requests and constantly available. Can't think of anything bad about this place!
