The Smokehouse Hotel & Restaurant By The Golf Course Cameron Highlands

Went there to have their breakfast on a weekday. No need reservations but start at 9.30am. They respond to my question fast via WhatsApp. You have to get one of the breakfast set. But the ambiance and the food is sooooooo English. It's so pretty. Food was good. Not much of a breakfast spread but it's good. Your main dish will be the breakfast set you order.

A review for the restaurant Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. The steak was clearly made from frozen meat and was extremely chewy. The lamb chops were the same tough, dry, and far from fresh. For the price and expectations, this was very disappointing and not something I would recommend. Even for the drink they will not bring the can they will give a one glass of soft drink

It's a place closely associated with holidays with my wife, and my family. We have a lot of emotional memories of this place. I love the rooms, the service, the staff, and the food (it is huge). My wife and I are in love with this place and we make it our only lodging in Cameron Highlands whenever we're up there. My wife is in love with the flowers and the plants, and I'm in love with the common area and dining hall.

The place and view is exquisite. That's it. The food is overpriced and they told us we're required to make 4 orders as we have 4 adults. I was denied making my order first when some of our party aren't at the table as the waiter said he cannot proceed without at least 4 orders. We ordered the Devonshire scones tea set and a cookie tea set. The scones are average and served room temperature. They served us cold butter but the jam and cream is delicious. The cookies are not worth the price as they're too dry. The service was bad too. We were watched by several employees when we entered but they disappeared off to a corner table after we made our order. When served, the waiter haphazardly placed our food and left. I had to find a waiter for the bill but he told us to pay at the counter. Normally I wouldn't mind but with such a price I expected better. The place is clean and everything is decorated beautifully but the service leave much to be desired. Nevertheless, the nicest employees are the gardeners who welcomed and bid us goodbye.

Large room, nicely decorated and extremely clean. The bathroom was large, with all the amenities necessary. Very good staff, very polite and extremely helpful. Must try the afternoon tea, the scones are just amazing. Try out also the restaurant and the breakfast was also remarkable.

Beautiful environment with an old, rustic European charm. The breakfast was decent and overall no complaints. Initially, we were told it’s for hotel guests only, but the lady at reception kindly accommodated us — everything went smoothly after that.

Much disappointment with the service and overall experience at during my visit on 5 July 2025. Firstly, the service was exceptionally poor. the waiter was consistently rude and dismissive. When our order was finally taken, the waitresses seemed to disappear, making it impossible to get any further attention or assistance. This lack of attentiveness resulted in prolonged waiting times and a general feeling of being ignored. Furthermore, the overall value for money was severely lacking. The price and hospitality was simply not worth the price. "The food was mediocre and cold upon arrival, despite the high cost," or The hotel facilities were run-down and didn't match the advertised standard. In summary, the rude waiter, absent waitstaff, and the feeling that the experience was not worth the cost made this one of the worst service experiences I have encountered. I hope you will take this feedback seriously to improve your service standards. This is the worst hotel and restaurant management I ever seen.

About 20 years ago, on a trip to Cameron Highlands, I went to Ye Olde Smokehouse for a classic English high tea. It was gorgeous, with a fire in the fireplace and all the staples of a proper high tea including scones and such. This time, since we were going to Cameron Highlands, I thought we should actually stay at the Smokehouse. Great decision.It's as charming as ever. Staying there gave us a chance to enjoy the lovely bar, gardens, dining room - all very old school and pukka! Staff are exceptional. Given that it's an old property, the rooms are a bit old school - but very nice all the same. Very reminiscent of a British club rather than a hotel - so perhaps not quite as refined as a modern 5 star hotel would be, but everything works, the rooms are comfy and there are lots of verandahs to sit out and enjoy the gardens from right outside your room.It was one of the more expensive hotels of our trip but definitely worth it.
