The Social House Nairobi

We were staying at the social house for two nights in a wheelchair accessible room, which was really accommodating our needs. The whole hotel is very accessible and fancy in style. The prices are accordingly. The Breakfast is amazing with a variety of little pastries, fruits, nuts, vegetables, warm sides, juices, and even a pancake/waffle/egg/sandwich bar for customised creations freshly made. We also really loved the avocado salad. The possibility of eating in the restaurant 24/7 was really convenient aswell as the respond to any of our wishes like getting food from the restaurant to the rooftop bar after the kitchen there was already closed. Roomservice is also available, took a few trys and calls to get everything we ordered together and to our room and calling for the dishes at almost midnight wasn't perfectly planned either. Also the door to the rooms is a bit hard to handle, since it doesn't stay open or reopens if you're stillin the way and really hurt my arm that way once, getting stuck between the door and the wall. The room was very nice though, with a beautiful view on the front yard at night through a glas facade. The staff was always friendly and eiger to help out with any requests we had. All in all we really enjoyd our stay very much and can only recommend this hotel as a base to explore Nairobi.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had a porterhouse and the lamb chops. Chef Phillip served the most amazing beef bruschetta. The cocktails were also fabulous. Food was only topped by the dotting service of Cynthia. Had a great evening. Wish they had a better and bigger space though.

We had a group birthday dinner at The Other Room. Sylvia, Alan and Denis were particularly very helpful. We had a good time! The food was delicious and the ambience was good. We look forward to coming back. ||Looking forward to trying out the other facilities.

We had a fantastic time at Copper. The thai vegetable curry was delicious and we were welcomed with complementary starters. The house offers great wine, Mbugua the intern sommelier was very helpful with our selections. His attention to detail was impeccable.

The social house is an amazing place. I dined at the the other room their food was fresh and delicious. I love the ambience and the open air space. The staff were friendly and thanks to Ibrahim the concierge who gave us the best recommendation. Definitely, I will come back Social house.

This morning I visited The Social House, as I have done many times before to work and relax throughout the day. I planned to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and a productive work session. However, my experience took a disappointing turn that left me feeling both disrespected and frustrated. I was stopped at the entrance by a guard for carrying my own water bottle (a simple and sustainable habit that I value). I was told that I wasn’t allowed to bring my bottle because the hotel insists on selling water in-house. Then I was made to go to the reception to discuss the matter. I assumed they would say something like, “Sorry, of course you are allowed with your bottle,” but they enforced the policy. They explained it was due to the restaurants selling water. I pointed out that water is recognized as a basic human right by the UN, and I even asked if they had considered the consequences of their actions in subjecting a regular customer to such an experience. This incident completely ruined my morning and removed any desire I had to stay for the day. Banning personal water bottles is not only absurd but also seems like a blatant disregard for customer service. The policy is forcing loyal customers like me into a situation where I feel very uncomfortable, and it’s making me write a bad review.. The Social House is losing a customer here, and I now feel unwelcome, which is truly disheartening since I used to like this place. I sincerely hope management reconsiders this rigid approach. A more customer-friendly policy, such as offering free refills, would better reflect modern values, sustainability, and respect for basic human rights. Until then, I can’t see myself returning.

The Social House is definitely one of my favorite hotel stays. From the point of check in (Enock was awesome, very kind and accommodating) to check out the staff and facilities were amazing. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful at all times. They gave warm smiles with every encounter. The food in Copper was phenomenal; if you don't get to try the meatball you're missing out on an experience! Bibi Grace so sweet. The sangria at Inca is a must try! The hotel is in a great location... very safe and secure. The room was beautiful, a nice blend of retro and modern. The balcony opened on to John Gichuru, where we were able to see and hear the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. There were so many nice, personal touches that made the stay lovely; the chapati at check in, the welcome cookies delivered to the door, the fun designs with the bedspread. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I would recommend TSH to anyone planning on visiting Nairobi.
