Google
Wonderful vinyl shop. I shop exclusively for used rock 'n' roll and their selection is very good. Great atmosphere with pleasant staff. I picked up several gems. Nothing outrageously rare, but excellent quality, accurately graded, at very reasonable prices. I'll definitely be going back next trip to Baltimore.

Google
Tons of awesome stuff! I could spend days looking around. I love how the store is arranged. Unique finds at decent prices. Staff was okay.

Mike Perry

Google
I have visited the store in person, and it was an incredible experience with knowledgeable and friendly staff. I came away with more vinyl than my bank account said I should, but I couldn't pass up on the deals. Since I have returned home, I find myself checking the website often and adding to my wish lists until I have to pull the trigger and get vinyl delivered. The delivered merchandise is always carefully packed and arrives in perfect condition. Thank you for always being there to feed my habit.

Google
place kicked ass. got some new cds there, really interesting music on the speakers, love the amount and types of music they have everywhere, they even have used movies

Google
Amazing record store with killer inventory, friendly service and good prices. I easily spent over two hours digging. I was most impressed with their Jazz selections, but overall, I walked away with a little bit of everything. This is also where Record Store Day began in 2007!

M. Bevis

Google
Easily the best record store that I visited in the area while in town on a conference. Their Blu-ray section, book selection, and just general overall Vibe is really what sets them apart. I found more than a few things that just had to make the trip back home with me. If I lived here, they would get all my money. Ultra bonus points for having an exceptionally clean and organized store.

Google
Sound Garden is great record store - one of the best I’ve ever been to and certainly the best in Baltimore! The selection changes fast and there is always something to find (just takes some searching). If you’re new in town and a fan of music, make sure to stop by! It’s also a great place to sell your unwanted records, they don’t pay “top dollar,” but if you’re willing to do a trade they’ll throw in extra. If you’re a vinyl fanatic, go today 😁

Google
The sound garden is the go to record store in the greater Baltimore area. They always have copies of just about anything you want on vinyl or cd. From rare, harder to find vinyl to items you might find at other shops, they always have something you are looking for. I have secured several autographed albums that I never see anywhere and to find/get signed copies….ding, ding, ding….bonus! I love this place, have been to many record stores in other states and countries and can tell you this place tops my list! This is my official record store!

Yelp
It's a record store ‍ I picked up several individually priced records and also found about a dozen goodies in the $3 bins (lots of patience, lots of luck). The staff mostly leave people alone to browse at their own pace, but were very nice when I checked out. She even packed my albums in a box for me to make everything easier. Highly recommend.

Yelp
LOVE this place!! The best record store in Baltimore, in my opinion. Anytime I have friends or family in town that are musically interested, I'll take them here and they are always grateful and impressed. In addition to records and CDs they have such a perfect selection of gift like items and an enormous, amazing selection of great gifts! Finally, the staff is extremely nice, down to earth, outgoing and helpful! They have a wide range of new and used items with really reasonable prices! Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Claire G.

Yelp
Amazing record store with an insane selection that had me exert some real self-control before I bought everything-- Huge variety of albums to choose from. I love how they keep the new and used albums separate. The prices are extremely reasonable, and I found a lot of great albums on my visit. They also have lots of gifts and stickers. The staff are really nice. Can't wait to go back!!
google avatar

Abigail R.

Yelp
That a freak amazing place. It's absolutely packed full of new and used records. Featuring 1$, 3$, and 5$ record bins. There used record sections are so well organized it's easy to find what you're looking for. And the diversity in selection is AMAZING. They're slinging cds, dvds, and cassettes too. Truly a media heaven. I picked up a board game while I was here too! There's a good section of board games, patches, buttons, and other bits and bobs that make you feel seen. I'm looking at you, "head ache survivor" sticker The staff was helpful and really knows their stuff! I'm so glad we stopped in today!!

Yelp
Sound garden is great. I've gone there multiple times over the years. Most recently I visited for record store day. It was very busy, as expected. They are the go to for new records in Baltimore for me. Also have nice merch. Got one of my favorite Michael Jackson shirts from there.
google avatar

Barry S.

Yelp
I've been to a few record shops. This one is okay. I will say it's a bit pricey compared to other places. They have some cool merch here and some good finds.
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
Great selection and wonderful ambiance. Stopped here and loved the rare/limited edition supply they have.
google avatar

Catherine C.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in Baltimore for vinyl and movies. Great selection, fair prices, and the staff actually knows their stuff. It's a little packed on weekends, but that's part of the charm. Bonus points for still carrying CDs and old-school DVDs.
google avatar

Nnaemeke O.

Yelp
Service: love the staff here. Friendly, knowledgeable, and patient! The perfect trifecta for any music lover looking to grown their collection. Selection: The full spectrum of music is represented here, and however you want it they have it. I kid you not, they have Beyoncé's renaissance on cassette tape. That's very impressive. Value: Can't complain about the prices. Compared to DC prices it's really a much better deal. Some older records are more expensive that I expected but these were classics so I understood. They also have a robust used section with high quality records for much cheaper.
google avatar

Fatima A.

Yelp
The Sound Garden is really a music lovers oasis! Recently stumbled on to this place with my partner and this is going to be a regular spot we come back to. Huge selection of records from all genres, great staff and welcoming atmosphere! They have new and used records for a great price. They also sell old CDs, DVDs and cute games and trinkets. Huge plus was the small parking lot for customers- this was very convenient!
google avatar

Alise G.

Yelp
I have been tracking down a few vinyl records, I called The Sound Garden and they informed me that they had The Best of Sade in stock. I managed to get the last copy in the store. I also purchased a few more records there. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you find whatever you are searching for. You can find music in various formats here. The vinyls I purchased were reasonably priced, lower priced than Amazon and other records stores I called. The Sound Garden has an online store as well, but I highly suggest going to the physical location to browse the store. The vibe is great. Plenty of street parking available.

Jason Edwards

Yelp
always a great selection! prepare to spend at least an hour and at least $100. they're a mainstay for a reason.

Yelp
Love a good record store? You can't get much better than Sound Garden. Great selection of new and used vinyls, CDs, etc. plus boards games and other fun things so there's def something for everyone. I stop in every time I'm in Fells! Definitely a great visit if you're looking for records or just a fun new item.

Yelp
So we have a rental home, in a few cities. One of the things we do on weekends for enjoyment is shop for vinyl. I make sure to search for the coolest vinyl shops in every city. Found sound garden and it was amazing just as I heard from fellow vinyl lovers. From the moment you enter the store you are surrounded by vinyl, DVDs movie posters and some of the best souvenirs for your friends and families. One of the highlights for me was there large collection I loser releases and out of distribution music. The huge store is filled with great energy music and friendly staff. Music lovers and those who love charming shops. When you visit Baltimore you must pay sound garden a visit before you return home.
google avatar

Chirag S.

Yelp
Just FYI...they don't buy DVDs anymore. They only buy Blu-ray disks. Besides this it's a great place to buy records & other music stuff. Worth checking out.
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
The Sound Garden is a heaven for music lovers. It's located right on Thames Street by the river. The area in general is fun to walk through, but be prepared to spend hours perusing through this store. It features a hefty selection of both used and new records and CDs. I find that their prices are decently comparable to other places, but they have steals such as a wall featuring 2 for $10 CDs, a ton of used vinyls that'll cost you some pocket change, and so much more. You can also order from them through their website! I walked out with a Bon Iver vinyl I've had difficulty finding and I love it. TLDR: If you're a music lover, get ready to spend hours perusing through this store.

Yelp
Love it! Amazing! Best Record Store I have been to. Vinyl Vinyl Vinyl everywhere .. deeply stacked

Sarah B.

Yelp
Eclectic and different little music and record store. Any music lover would find appreciation of this store that goes on what seems DOR miles. Not overwhelming but you can get lost in the sound.
google avatar

Marisol D.

Yelp
Very cool store. Old and new vinyl albums and CDs. Wall of stickers magnets and many knickknacks to find connected to a mini coffee shop.
google avatar

Debra P.

Yelp
This place is just plain Cool Can't wait to go back there and spend so much more time and find some more Cool Stuff
google avatar

Gary B.

Yelp
A wonderful collection of vinyl LPs at reasonable prices for both new and pre-owned. Their online catalog lists what they have in Bmore or Syracuse, although I've never been to the upstate NY store. Some 60's hippy vibes and overall a nice place

Megan M.

Yelp
Horrible experience at the Post Malone meet and greet. Post was great, I have absolutely no complaints about him whatsoever. Criticism over the event has been deleted on social media and people have even been blocked for voicing their experience. This place refuses to admit they did any wrong. It's quite sad. Meet and greet was horribly oversold. Many fans were lied to. Front half of the line got special treatment, while the back of the line was rushed, yelled at and not allowed to do over half of the things the front of the line did. Owner is rude and very unprofessional. I do not recommend this place and will never go back.
google avatar

Amirah M.

Yelp
The Sound Garden is one of my favorite places to buy physical music from in the city!

Yelp
THIS PLACE ROCKS! If you've never seen Empire Records before, there's no need - just walk in to The Sound Garden! Located in the Fells Point area of Baltimore, Sound Garden has a healthy selection of vinyls, CDs and DVDs, both old and new. Their walls are garnished with vintage artwork and concert posters, some of which are for sale. I didn't ask too many questions, as I didn't actually purchase anything...But from overhearing several other inquiries, I can attest that these staffers know what they're talking about. Good record stores like these are few and far between...The Sound Garden is definitely worth a stop to those visiting Baltimore!
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
This place was so awesome! They have used CDs and DVDs for cheap ($1 bins), and good prices on new ones too! CDs are organized by genre then alphabetical order. CD prices range from $3.99-$9.99 new. They also carry funny Ts, stickers ($1.99), magnets ($2.99), knee high socks, backpacks, and more. They also have books, similar to what you'd see at Urban Outfitters. Also, they had a Drake adult coloring book! Purchased two funny magnets and Notorious RBG sticker!! Come out of your way if you're looking for a fun gift, or just stop in if you're already parked and walking around that area anyway.
google avatar

Jude T.

Yelp
I couldn't find any Dead Milkmen, which means this place loses a star. I also failed to find any Mojo Nixon, so I'm pretty sure The Sound Garden could use a fixin'. Other than that, they have a lot of good stuff, especially used stuff. I'm not big on actual concrete music media these days, but it's cool to have a few good things around, and you can get lots of stuff here for a good price.
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
One of the best record shops I've been to even though their offers run toward insulting when you go there to sell, at least in my experience, but that tends to be true of most places that buy from consumers. My husband absolutely loves this shop and just has to come here whenever we're in the Canton/Fells Point area. He's adorable like that. Wide selection in many different genres, CDs and vinyl, movies, a selection of stylish socks and sturdy masculine bags, which is nice. I love the bag I got there. In conclusion, definitely worth stopping by,especially for the music lover or vinyl collector.
google avatar

Alie A.

Yelp
I've been to many a good record store, and this one was not only the best dive-bar-version of independent music's time, it was also a true experience. What a perfect Sunday afternoon to stumble upon The Sound Garden. They literally have e v e r y t h i n g, and if you take a second to lift your little head up from the sensory overload of it all, you'll likely catch the conversations of Gen-X'ers and Millenials being taken back in time by every emblem of youth tied to a song they can possibly imagine. Eat your heart out and buy an album.

Kristin D.

Yelp
What an awesome company! Easy ordering, super quick shipping. This will be the ONLY place I order from. FANTASTIC SERVICE
google avatar

Suzee Q.

Yelp
Fun and random gifts in here besides all the vinyl! Stopped in to get some Christmas gifts. Shop local!!

Orla C.

Yelp
This place is crap. I went for a record signing today where there was no indication or clear instructions that it had to be purchased in advanced online but whatever. Then when I get to the front your male employee tells me I can enter but not get anything signed. I then see that the artist is signing random stuff for other people but apparently I can't do that. Then as I'm leaving I see two people who were behind me in the line buying the album in person. When I talk to your employees behind the counter they tell me there are none left and that the girl who was directly behind me in line to enter had purchased the last one. The same male employee tells me that this girl was purchasing something else in the store not the album. This is not true - I saw her purchase the album and get in line to have it signed. I have shopped here before but will never again. You don't know how to treat customers. You repeatedly lied to me. Why have a line to enter the store when you are just going to sell albums as you find them to whoever happens to be talking to you at that moment? It is so unfair and ridiculous.
google avatar

Isaiah W.

Yelp
One of the best record stores in the country as far as I'm concerned and as a self-admitted Audiophile (it's not a bad thing I promise) I've been to a bunch of them. They usually have a really dope selection and they usually have all the newest vinyls you are looking for. I also believe they may be checking online vendors before checking prices because albums and media are usually the same price as competitors like Amazon. I also know that they have a really good selection of older vinyls and it's where I go when I decide I want to get a few new classics or anything like that. Besides just records they have movies, CDs, games, pipes, snacks and the list goes on and on. If you are a music fan please make sure you give this place a shot!
google avatar

Mike R.

Yelp
This place is in the heart of Fells Point. As you can see by the photos they have thousands of vinyl records covering every type and genre. They also sell t- shirts, hats and music souvenirs. Great area to park your car as there are boutique shops and restaurants all within walking distance
google avatar

Cynthia F.

Yelp
Quaint little CD/movie/record store. I'm out in Fells pretty frequently and actually have never stopped in here. Some friends took me in here and it's just the coolest shop! First thing that impressed me was their selection of movies at a great price. They had The Force Awakens Blu-Ray for $10, like how do you beat that?? They have walls and walls of movies (old and new) and they're all organized in alphabetical order so if you're looking for a particular movie it's pretty easy to find where it would be if they have it (which I would be surprised if they didn't) They also have an array of TV shows. They have photos lining all the walls of artists and groups who have visited so that was pretty cool to look at. Lots of gag gift type items and quirky gifts to look at at the front of the store as well. Definitely a fun store to go in and walk around and awesome prices!
google avatar

Jeannette L.

Yelp
The Sound Garden is a great vinyl shop, but it also has a great offering of DVDs. DVDs are my thing more than vinyl. So while my boyfriend flips through stacks upon stacks of vinyl, I go through shelves of used DVDs. They have a wide assortment of genres. The discs are also well priced (at least the used ones). In terms of vinyl offerings, it has more new vinyl in stock. I'd recommend going here if you want new vinyl, but perhaps a different vinyl shop in the area if you are looking for older and rarer selections.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Hard to believe I haven't left a review before. I have been fortunate enough to live within driving distance of two of the greatest record stores in the US. One was the Princeton Record Exchange...the other is The Soundgarden.

Josh K.

Yelp
I mean, there's not much more to say than a top 10 record store experience in the US.
google avatar

Sahar R.

Yelp
Good record/music stores are few and far between these days, and if you're a music lover you may have feel like you died and gone to heaven. This large store has an impressive vinyl collection (used and new) and it's pretty reasonably priced even for new records. The new records are located in a small room off to the left of the cashiers, I got the Childish Gambino LP for $14.99, whereas other record stores and Urban Outfitters were selling it for $19.99. The used records are in the main store where all the DVDs are. I have a pretty short attention span when it comes to digging through vinyl being that you see the same records over and over again (why are there so many Velvet Underground picture discs with the Andy Warhol banana in record stores and how are they relevant?) and I often walk out empty handed. Not here though. There were a lot of good hip hop and dance finds from in the used section. I managed to accumulate a cumbersome stack of records to buy within all of 30 minutes. I had to leave early before I could buy more. The DVD selection is varied and huge. This is the place to go to buy box sets of your favorite sitcom/TV shows. They even have a section of "Maryland Shows and Films" and that's pretty much stocked with every season of "The Wire". Like other reviewers have said, the staff here is very Empire Records like. I watched one customer ask a cashier a question, and he shouted another staff member on the floor, "Hey, this guy is asking a question about Japanese Anime, you're into that weird stuff right?". The staff member shouted back with something about how he doesn't want people knowing about that, and thanks for putting his sh__ on blast, but helped the customer out. Now that's customer service.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Sound Garden reminds me of a cozy record store that I used to go to in my hometown of Akron, Ohio. What a fun place to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon; I could spend hours browsing their music. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. Their prices can't be beat; I bought two Kill Bill DVD's for $10 earlier this year! This place is like a blast from the past and I love it.
google avatar

Yelp
"Can you help a customer find Dawn of the Apes!" "What!" "Can you help a customer find Dawn of the Apes" Record store employee turns to customer "Did you hear what he said?" "Dawn of the apes" "OKAY!" A PA or Walky-Talky would totally ruin that classic form of comunication Used CD (record) stores are probably my favorite concept. Sure, I'd prefer to buy my music from the band themselves (at shows etc) - but as I've gotten older I go out to live music less and less. Sure, there is the moral conundrum of not supporting your favorite musicians by buying there CDs new, but lets be honest, to buy a new CD is way over-priced -especially for bands that are no longer together and released the album 10 years ago. And, as far as digital downloads go - I do still like to have a physical copy in case my medium of choice goes bankrupt. This is a store that blasts random music, doesn't discourage browsing, and has a great collection of music. The solid grunge, no frills feel to the place lets you know your liable to find just about anything here. You might not save much money looking for the newest or most popular songs, but if you get a hankering for that one off CD you remember from a few years back but never bought, you might find it for under 10 bucks here.
google avatar

Yelp
The sound garden was a great walk back in time. They had 45's (not the ammunition...the records!!). There are thousands of vinyl albums from 60 years ago to present. They also have 8tacks and casette tapes!. Everything is well labeled and seemed to be in order. There is a section of the store for sillier things like socks, and funny as hell fridge magnets. Also oddball stuff that will bring back memories. Kind of like a "as seen on TV" commercial from the 70's. Love the unique feel.
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
I don't know how many Sound Gardens there are. (I think there are three?) I've been to this one and the one in Syracuse NY. Stopped here in August 2011. It's in a really nice little shopping area in Fells Point MD. It seems like a great place with good, knowledgeable employees. It's definitely got a cool local vibe like a record store should. Does not feel at all like an FYE or Target or any big box store. My problem is that I'm kind of over buying music in physical format. I can't remember the last CD I bought. I have some tapes.. in the basement somewhere. Most music I get is downloaded in MP3 format. I think most people do this now. Sadly, this probably means the end of the record shop as we know it. Shop here while it still exists.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
Sound Garden isn't the best record store I've ever been to, by far. However, it *is* the best record store in Baltimore, which is why I'm giving it four stars. Good selection of CD's, DVD's, and new vinyl, but a not-so-great amount of used vinyl. Also, the used vinyl prices are a bit steep, but I suppose with nowhere else in the area to go for used vinyl, they can get away with overcharging you a bit. If you want friendly, talkative, personable staff then SG is not your place. I'm fairly certain there isn't a single SG employee that possesses a personality. But hey, at least they're not dicks, so that's good.
google avatar

Natalie U.

Yelp
I'm in love with this shop. Fantastic service and the comfortable atmosphere give you a taste of the Baltimore feel. They have fantastic prices and a HUGE variety of artists and bands, ranging from new hits, and radio pop, to oldies and underground groups you've probably never heard of. If you're ever in the area I suggest you stop in! :)
google avatar

Renee B.

Yelp
This is one awesome place. Always busy. And let me tell you the employees are well informed. I don't care what you may ask them about, normally they have the answers without even having to go to the computer to look it up. They know just were things that you are looking for are located. If it's hard for you the find the kind of music you like to listen to I'm pretty sure that you can find it in this place.
google avatar

Brooke T.

Yelp
Pretty neat place in Fells Point. First off, pretty exciting to me that they have their own parking. I mean what? Where does that even happen down in the Point. Everything that you can think of is here regarding entertainment. Kinda reminds me of a time warp, I mean cds, records, I even saw old season of Martin (YES!!!) Either way, it is pretty neat that you can find whatever you need. You can also sell your old stuff too. The staff are ahmazing and willing to help you with whatever. 10 points for nostalgia's sake.
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you for mailing me this excellent and hard to find CD during the pandemic. While I've been stuck inside I've been able to dance around the apartment with my dog thanks to you all! Hope you're safe and open again soon.

Yelp
Super affordable prices. Found so many gems in the vinyl bargain bin. In a nice safe lit up main strip . Really great selection of all genres of music. Will make it a stop always when in the area

Yelp
My dad has been going to the store since he was 15, and now he takes me. This is a great store with great selection and great prices and helpful staff. A Baltimore landmark.
