The Southern Porch

First let me say the food came out "hot/steaming from the plate" temperature hot!!!🥵 I had to let the meal cool down. 💯💯💯 to the Chef/Kitchen staff on that. Was greeted with a smile by the two hostesses and sat promptly. Our server was Matt B. I give him 💯 +++ was attentive and we had a small spill and I had to wipe up the floor and was about to get up to wash my hands in the restroom , BUT he arrived with some had sanitizer. That's customer service. He was great. He also made some great recommendations for first timers and we ate the beignets, Dirty Bird, Shrimp & Grits with Catfish filet (was great), side of egg whites and fresh squeezed OJ/Coffee. This will be our new breakfast spot. Keep up the great service and attention to the food. Especially dealing with breakfast food has to come out hot. Give Matt B. some ownership interest!! We met family here for brunch and it was fantastic!! We had a hard time deciding what to get but everyone loved their meals. The pimento cheese appetizer was excellent! The French toast was perfectly sweet and the country fried steak and gravy was perfect! We had one small issue with one of our meals that was dealt with by our server in a very timely fashion. Two young me managed the dining room during our visit and did a great job! We will definitely be back to try more.

Susan and Shane were absolutely amazing! From the moment I walked in, the customer service was top-tier. They were friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. It’s not often you come across service that genuinely makes you feel welcomed, but they definitely did. The food was just as great as the service. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and everything was fresh and hot when it came out. The chicken was crispy and flavorful, and the waffle was perfectly cooked. You can really tell they care about the quality of the food they serve. Overall, it was a great experience with great food and excellent customer service. Susan and Shane really made the visit memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back again and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal and great service!

I had a really good meal there! The service was great, and so was the food! They even let me get a half order of fried green tomatoes, so that I could taste them without buying the whole order. And they were really really good! The only real complaints I would have would be that my country fried steak had a bit of gristle, I understand that country fried steak can have some gristle, but there was a decent amount in mine. Still it was really good. Also my eggs were very runny even though I ordered over medium. It seems these days nobody really cooks eggs like they used to. I just think that every one is in such a hurry that they just cook them as close as they think they can. And again they were very tasty they just weren't cooked the way that I like them. All in all it was a fantastic meal and a very good experience

This spot is set in a former house, giving it a charming, rustic farmhouse feel. One wall features cozy bench seating, and the weathered wooden tables—set for two or four with a welcoming vibe. Mimosas are available, the space is clean, and the service is consistently friendly. Sodas come in the can, and the coffee is hot and satisfying. Each table has a neat little station stocked with Splenda and Stevia, plus a tray offering two Smucker’s jams, Cholula and Tabasco hot sauces, and maple syrup. I’ve seen groups of six to eight come in for brunch with no issue. The atmosphere is casual, think athleisure, jeans, and guys in caps and it fits perfectly with the relaxed energy of the place. It’s one of my local favorites. Parking is shared with the neighboring restaurant, but there’s always been plenty of room to find a spot. Wheelchair ramp at entrance.

Super cute homey restaurant with good food in downtown Alpharetta. Parking is very tight. Once parked we waited less than 5 minutes to get seated. I had shrimp & grits and it was delicious. My husband had biscuit & gravy and sunrise special which he said was great.I can definitely come back here when in Alpharetta again.

Just had a wonderful breakfast at The Southern Porch. I almost had the Shrimp and Grits, but decided to go with the Porch Eggs Benedict with Salmon. It was very good. Highly recommend. The meat can be switched to other choices, but I love Salmon and that grabbed my attention. I'll be back soon.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. The food and service were exceptional. I recommend the chicken salad sandwich and fried green tomatoes. The tomato cucumber side salad is tangy and addicting. If you like fried okra, you'll like theirs because it's super crunchy.

The Chicken Fried Steak here is amazing. I can't recommend it enough. The sourdough toast was also amazing. Highly recommend this place.

I've come to the Southern Porch a handful of times and it's a really cute spot for brunch/lunch. It's located steps away from downtown Alpharetta and shares parking with a few other local eateries. They offer limited hours that cover breakfast and lunch (closing no later than 4pm). The location can get quite busy and does not offer reservations. The food is great and I've never had a meal here I didn't enjoy. The portions are greatly generous and I almost always am able to take home leftovers.

Mega mimosa was worth the price. We were able to get the strawberry syrup on the side which was good. Chicken and waffle was good. Waffle had nice flavor. Chicken was thin but had some flavor. Think it could take a little more seasoning to really make it pop, but overall it was good. My fiancé had the dirty bird which he enjoyed. Hash browns seasoned well, just wish they were bigger cubes. Chicken was similar to mines where it was thin and could use just a touch more seasoning. Nice flavor with the gravy. Overall, it was a filling meal. Server was nice. She was the one who let us try the strawberry syrup on the side for the mimosas. She was attentive enough, too.

This restaurant was amazing. The food was so good. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted and sat. I ordered the sausage scramble and biscuit. The biscuits are definitely homemade and remind me of my grandmothers biscuits. Our server was really nice. I would highly recommend this place. They have parking available in the back of the building.

My experience felt like having breakfast at a friend's house which was cozy and welcoming. I had a coffee, fried green tomatoes, and the veggie scramble with cheese. Everything was fresh and full of flavor, especially the tomatoes, which were perfectly crisp and tangy. The service was friendly and relaxed, matching the laid-back vibe of the space. A great spot for a comforting southern breakfast that makes you want to linger a little longer.

Elite southern diner in Alpharetta. Great service by young courteous staff. Sit out in the screened porch if weather permits. Food and drinks are excellent. Stand outs include the Bloody Mary, the flavored lattes and fresh squeezes OJ. The portions are big and the ingredients taste fresh. The biscuits are exceptionally buttery and fluffy. Also, had some of the most delicious cinnamon rolls I've had in recent memory. Highly recommend.

The Southern Porch is a small but charming little restaurant in downtown Alpharetta. With old flooring that creeks when you walk on it, a fire place and cute windows with lace curtains. Just adorable. A very attentive staff with a keen insight of the customer needs. With so many delicious items to choose from it was a difficult choice but I went with the shrimp and grits. Just Wow! blackened shrimp, grilled onions and peppers, bacon, aujus, over hot pimento cheese grits!! An amazing experience indeed. That and a deliciously tasty Signature Bloody Mary made this mid morning sunny Sunday a fabulous experience. Just like you were on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Oh, speaking of New Orleans the Southern Porch put out as good a beignet as you will find anywhere.

We had a great experience at our FIRST visit to Southern Porch on Sunday November 16th. Ethan was our server. He did a great job caring for us and complimented us on our menu choices especially as first time guests. We ordered the Eggs Benedict with fried chicken, the dirty bird, avocado toast and a breakfast burrito. It was a nice November day so we were able to enjoy an outside table. The leaves were blowing around, the sun was out and it definitely felt just like a "southern porch"! I have to say, our food choices were excellent, Ethan's approval was affirming and the entire experience was really great! Thank you for a wonderful brunch! Definite hidden gem and we highly recommend!

Southern Porch is a quaint little restaurant that serves incredible breakfast/brunch. They were pretty busy, but we were seated quickly. And our server was on the ball. He got us our coffee quickly and then took our order. He even shared what his favorites were in the menu. I had the classic Sunrise Special breakfast with a huge biscuit and grits. Everything was fantastic! As an FYI, they do charge a cash price and they have an up charge for cards.

Top tier breakfast choice in downtown Alpharetta! They have all the breakfast classics and even cocktails. I love this place and highly recommend!

We came in for lunch while driving in Alpharetta on a beautiful sunny afternoon. This restaurant is located off Main Street in a house reminiscent of Table and Main in Roswell. The waitress was friendly and spot on all throughout our lunch. We started off with delicious fried green tomatoes! Next, I had a pecan chicken sandwich and my wife had s breakfast dish that she enjoyed but couldn't finish. Everything about my dish was good especially the fried okra and the cucumber tomato salad. The sweet tea here is almost perfect as I could not get enough! The ambiance was rustic southern with a nice outdoor patio and clean restrooms. On this day, it was a complete culinary experience. Southern Porch is Jeff approved!

If you're in a hurry - don't even think about it...but you need to give this place a shot. Food is absolutely amazing. The servers can struggle a bit, but are always friendly. Food prep is an issue time-wise so again, come to relax and spend some time enjoying friends and the food, but don't expect to get in and out quickly.

Love this cute little place in downtown Alpharetta! The vibes are always immaculate and I really feel the southern hospitality and coziness! Make sure you get here early because it's a very popular place (especially Sundays, haha)! My favorite dish here is the Arugula Harvest Salad with an addition of chicken! It is so fresh and while it is light enough for the mornings, it is still very filling! There is a blueberry mocktail drink (I don't remember the name) that is also very refreshing as well! Would definitely recommend stopping by here with some friends or family for a delicious bite of breakfast or brunch!

Went for brunch while in town visiting and it was a fine choice. Good Bloodies and Mimosas followed by good chow is a nice combo. We tried a good many dishes. Candied bacon, fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, eggs Benny, and shrimp and grits (Of course with a fried catfish filet on top. I'm no barbarian!). Our family shares so got a little taste of it all and every bit of it was delicious. Throw in the good service and Southern Porch is one of those, "Wish this was in my town" kinda places.

Was there for the second time and it didn't disappoint. Service was great from the moment we walked in. The menu is a cornucopia of different tastes. There is something for everyone. Will definitely be back!

This restaurant has got southern charm with delicious food. We went for a girls brunch and started with mimosas and candied bacon. The candied bacon was crisp and sweet with a slight hint of spice. Scrumptious! All of our entrees were nicely portioned and delicious. The biscuits were fluffy and large. I will absolutely return to this restaurant.

Party of 2 plus the pup Southern Porch is a lovely spot with a lot of outdoor seating. We selected this place as they allow dogs on the porch and patio. Our happy server brought our dog a bowl of water and he loved the food we shared with him. I had a breakfast sandwich that was okay - the bread was over-toasted so I ate it open-faced. My son's food was good. Nice spot and good food!

Someone come get me off of the floor. The food was so good, I immediately went into "Itis" mode and I need nap! This place is a winner and worth the wait. I don't know if they take reservations or do call ahead, I just showed up. The hostess said it would be about a 12 minute wait for one person and she was right on time. I was seated near the fireplace which was nice. This place was packed. They have most definitely utilized the space to maximum advantage and I appreciate it. The menu is pretty diverse. They have regular brunch items like breakfast plates, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy and omelettes. I ordered the shrimp and grits and paid extra for a piece of fried catfish on top and I order one pancake. The shrimp and grits were absolute ! The flavor of the grits, the perfectly cooked shrimp and the perfectly seasoned fried catfish topped with this amazing gravy with pieces of onion, green pepper and bacon... OMG!!! The pancake was perfection! I don't even explain the food in addition to the excellent service. I really miss someone to take me back to the hotel because I need a nap I am so done for the day! You must come here!!!!

As a date for a weekday that we had off, we came to the Southern Porch to try their brunch. This spot is pretty much off the main street of downtown Alpharetta. The service here was wonderful, we got seated right away. It was a weekday, so that wasn't unexpected. For my entree I ordered the Dirty Bird. It was pretty good, a chicken biscuit just covered in gravy and then I had some hash potatoes. The gravy was flavorful, but there was nothing else exciting. The chicken was alright as well. Overall, Southern Porch should be on your list if you're looking for a southern brunch with southern dishes. I did see a lot of business people during lunch though.

Parking is a little tough to find in this area so if you are able to get to this location earlier you can get decent parking. Typically this spot gets busy quickly. We weee walk in and only had to wait 5-10 minutes. We were able to get seated inside and had a good experience with the server. Our food came out pretty quickly and tasted good. Everything was very filling and big portions. The Beignets are a MUST.

Great experience at Southern Porch. We arrived a little after 11am on a Saturday and were instantly seated outside. Our waiter was very attentive and had a positive vibe. We split the fried goat cheese, chicken & waffles and a few sides. Everything was great and well priced. It did take a little longer than I would have expected for the main after the fried goat cheese but not ridiculous.

It's good, but it's not always worth the wait. It can feel a little hectic for brunch. The parking lot is the usual struggle that you would face for Flatlands (same group), but with less room to stand around outside. The food is very good, but come hungry. There aren't a lot of lighter options, even for breakfast. I would say it's more of a cheat meal. Fun place to take someone visiting but not on our usual rotation list.

If you come for Sunday brunch come early leave happy. I enjoy this cutesy spot very much. The food was fresh good ingredients and really delicious. They were willing to substitute when they could I had the corn beef it was so yummy and fresh no can meat here Despite the wait I highly recommend Cons: wait and not enough kosher items

I had the fried chicken eggs Benedict. The chicken was very flavorful and crispy. The 2 poached eggs were overcooked: one was medium and the other was almost hard boiled. The coffee menu was limited.

Tried The Southern Porch for the first time today. I had the Eggs Benedict with Bacon. It was excellent and the presentation was (check photo). The coffee was also very good. My server Katherine was polite and very sweet. The atmosphere is "Farmhouse" and COZY. It was a great experience. ASK the weather gets warmer, I'll try dining outside on the porch.

For a good time..... In Atlanta for a concert and found this jewel of a restaurant for breakfast. Strongly recommend.

Really enjoyed our breakfast here! While the menu isn't expansive, what they do offer is superb. I got the chef's plate, and the chicken fried steak was excellent. Wife got the chicken and waffles. Personally, not my favorite combo (think pineapple on pizza), but I tried the chicken and it was perfect. My daughter got the Dirty Bird and raved about how good it was. She ended up taking half of it home. The best part of the breakfast was the biscuit. Lots of places in North Georgia claim they have the best biscuits -- Southern Porch leads by my account. Throw in friendly / excellent service, and you have a winning place for morning chow. Cheers! RS

The food was delicious and well-priced. We had beignets, fried green tomatoes, avocados toast, spicy chicken sausage, the Dirty Bird and coffee. It was all delicious and enough to bring home. The biscuits are FANTASTIC and so are the buttery grits! Oh, and terrific service! Cannot wait to come again!

Food: Fried Green Tomatoes comes with a sauce and cucumber salad 10/10 French Toast comes with mixed berries 7/10 only because my French toast was soggy in the middle from it not being cooked fully. Waffle was a 9/10 I loved the flavor and it came out hot Shrimp and grits with no sauce which was like a beef broth my mom said was a 8/10

Our go to breakfast on a Sunday morning is the veggie scramble, it is the perfect mix of eggs, veges and grits over a biscuit. The food always comes out piping hot and the service is beyond friendly and consistent. The place is cute county casual with two dining rooms and a deck outside for those nice days. Treat yourself to some fried chicken & waffles, biscuits & gravy, or go healthy with the avocado toast. They do not have cappuccino, but the coffee is pretty decent. Enjoy

Ive lived in Alpharetta since 99'. The Southern porch has been and continues to be my favorite breakfast spot. More recently they've added dinner to the menu. I have tried plenty of dishes. My favorites are the fried green BLT, Reuben, fried chicken for dinner and you've got to try the friend green tomato's or the candied bacon with breakfast! Hands down, the personal experience gets better and better with every visit! We absolutely love the food, but the staff bring us back in the door! Ethan, Catherine, Matt, Arielle, Shayla, and Susan you guys are the heart of the restaurant. Y'all knock it out of the park. They are accommodating, pleasant and just the best any day of the week! We feel like a part of the Southern Porch family when we arrive. Keep up the great work guys!!

Yummy! Great breakfast spot. Arrived early on Saturday AM in case of a crowd. There was none. Good for us! I loved all the fall decor and southern vibes of the porch! The eggs Benny was delicious and the southern fried steak too. The only comment would be there is a ton of breading on the steak. But it's delicious.

We were bringing in an out of town guest for a Southern brunch experience and this place did not disappoint! Very homey, comfortable interior and delicious food--we really liked the biscuits and my husband was happy with his country fried steak. Mimosas were also good (we asked for less juice, more bubbly!) and bloody mary was also decent. We would definitely come back :)

We were visiting relatives in Atlanta and stopped by Southern Porch. The food was delicious. We had the shrimp and grits, and recommend adding the fried catfish. The chicken and waffles were the perfect blend of savory and sweet. We also had the fried green tomatoes and 2 kinds of beignets (cinnamon and pumpkin). I can't wait to visit the next time we are in town. Yum!

We had a great weekday brunch here. The egg dishes were very good, and I really liked the fried green tomato sandwich. It had plenty of flavor, and there is a huge variety of side dishes. We plan to come back to try some of the other entrees. Service was great. Due to its location, parking is really tough during peak times.

Great food!! Came here with two other people for a mid-morning breakfast on a Friday and it was a great experience. Coffee was nice and hot and tasted great. We all loved our meals! I got the sausage scramble with sourdough toast, the chicken and waffle was incredible (I tried it and would get that if I returned), and our friend got the dirty bird. It was big and filling and he loved it. Our waiter was super friendly and had a sense of humor with us. He was also great at answering any questions we had and recommending his favorite dishes. If you're staying in downtown Alpharetta, this is a walkable breakfast spot that you will enjoy. They also have mimosa and Bloody Mary options if you're looking for a boozy brunch.

Visited this spot and it was really good, the food was great the chicken a bit salty but really good. I ordered the chicken and waffles the plate was once again great also order the lavander mimosa it won't disappoint trust me. The service also good well southern hospitality which never fails. The ambience was good we sit outside and the morning was very nice

As a long time resident of Alpharetta, I have always considered The Southern Porch a no brainer for a consistent breakfast/brunch experience- until today. We went with my 86 year old Mother and my two adult children. Because of a rainstorm we arrived at a little after 1:00 pm (they close at 2:00 pm). We could tell from the moment we arrived that we were going to be "rushed" and we were. Food was marginal and the server was just plain rude.

This small venue packs a giant brunch punch!! I have eaten brunch in some of the biggest cities... Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, Miami, San Fran Cisco, Austin, Houston, and more but honestly... this eatery hit me with the best multiple punch combination of flavors I have ever had to win the ultimate title of Best Brunch EVER and knock me out into a deep, wonderful, food coma. When you pull in be prepared... there are several venues in this small area and the parking is tight. Quite a few spaces but they are fill up fast. We were lucky and found a spot quickly but I watched other do the "vulture circle" looking for a spot for a while. This venue does not take reservations... it is walk up only and be prepared to wait. We walked over to the the coffee spot next door while we waited for our table. It is in the same area. Once we had our coffee we waited for our table in the small outside area out front. The restaurant it's self is small... they have two main dinning areas and a screened in porch. They pack in the tables however and space is tight. Walk ways are one person wide and not a single space is squandered. It took roughly 30 mins to get our table... not bad considering the place was packed and there was a lengthy line when we got here. We were shown to our table in the far back room and given menus. When we looked this place up the reviews were pretty good for the chicken and waffles, the French toast, and the Dirty Bird. The menu is not huge but has a good amount of offerings and a large section of "brunch adult" drinks as well. My wife started with a poinsettia, a champagne and cranberry drink while I had a virgin bloody marry. The poinsettia must have been one of those new almost white varieties because there was only the slightest hint of cranberry... I mean this drink could not even be called blush... it was pretty much pure champagne... much to the delight of my wife. My virgin Bloody Marry was a spicy minx of a virgin that titillated my taste buds with pure unadulterated flavor! Our waitress, Chris, was a complete and utter joy of a server. She made us feel welcome, cared for, and comfortable. Her personality was exceptional and honestly her service was world class. For our meals my boys both ordered the chicken and waffles, my wife and I both ordered the Dirty Bird with additional sides of the French toast and biscuits and sausage gravy. First off beware... the chicken and waffles are big plates! A huge pillow like waffle with two perfectly seasoned and delicately fried chicken breasts. My 8 year old and 13 year old could have shared one meal. This meal comes with a honey pecan syrup that is like mana from heaven. The chicken is cooked to perfection... the breading is light, crispy and ohhh sooo flavorful. I completely understand why they are known for this selection. The Dirty Bird is built like a sandwich: a fried chicken breast of equal greatness as the chicken and waffles with a fried egg nestled between two cloud like biscuits that are the softest, most buttery, heavenly biscuits that you have ever had, and then it is all lovingly smothered in a to die for country gravy!! Hold on a second while I wipe the drool from my mouth... just recounting THIS ohhh my GODDIE way to flippin HOTTIE MEAL IS MAKING ME SALIVATE! This all comes with a side of crispy home fries as well. Like a fine sculpture made by Michael Angelo himself this work of art was kissed by angles to be this good. The French toast was decorated in blue berries, strawberries, and powdered sugar. The bread was almost like eating a thin slice of bread pudding... so very moist, sweet on its own, and magnificent. It really didn't need syrup but add their magic bottled table elixir and wham French toast fit for Napoleon himself. A feast of fantastic flavor don't leave here without indulging in this decadent delight!. Lastly but certainly not least the biscuits and sausage gravy. The same cloud like pillowy biscuits with a wonderful peppery sausage gravy that is so delightful I want a tub full of it that I could soak in! Our meal and experience here was flawless. I can't remember a better brunch in all of my travels. I highly suggest spending a Sunday brunch at this establishment... you won't regret it!

The food is spectacular, the staff is friendly and it's a cozy atmosphere. My wife and I always have a wonderful time coming here. All of the servers are great, we normally see Ethan and he always provides 10/10 service. Do yourself a favor and come for breakfast to get the fried green tomatoes.

I am beginning to sound like a broken record with my reviews on restaurants. It's a risk I'm willing to take if even one person can benefit from my reviews. My daughter and I ate at the Southern Porch for Sunday brunch on September 29, 2024, and were thoroughly impressed with the food that we ordered. It was my daughter's second visit but the first time for me. We went towards the end of the business day, which probably explains, why the service was a little bit off, but not to the point that it was unpleasant. It's a family friendly place with lots of windows and quirky (in a good way) seating. Cute writings adorn the walls in the area where we were seated. They have the best fried green tomatoes, this side of any garden! The shrimp and grits were stellar as was the fried catfish and fried okra. I rate the food 5 out of 5, but the mac'n cheese was a 4 (needed more cheese and butter for my taste). I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in the area.

Came to this place for brunch, not knowing anything about it, and it exceeded our expectations! Waiter was very quick with taking our orders as well as bringing them out. Definitely recommend the drinks, they're strong enough! We really enjoyed the mimosas and you can choose different juices to pair it with. For food we got the French Toast - perfect! 10/10! Fried Green BLT Sandwich - 9.5/10! Pecan Fried Chicken Sandwich - 10/10! The sandwiches may not seem like it, but they're a very big meal. We were only able to finish one half of our sandwiches plus the sides were filling enough. Definitely try the pimento Mac & cheese! The place is small and cute, but pretty packed! We came around 1 pm on Friday and there was a good crowd and we didn't have to wait! It is a seat yourself establishment though. Parking was easy but limited since it's a shared parking lot.

I think I've been here for both lunch and breakfast and have to say breakfast is the preference. They have a really nice patio area so it's great on a breezy, sunny day where the lull of Alpharetta traffic will gently try to draw you into sleep. Couple this with the chicken and waffle and you have the perfect recipe for an afternoon nap. Parking is a tight mess, but with any luck some friendly stranger will be leaving as you're coming in. The food is good and plentiful so plan to take some of it with you. As far as the coffee goes, this should be avoided unless you cannot bring yourself to walk after a very big meal. Warm Waves next door, on the other hand, has excellent coffee.

Came for a birthday brunch and was pleasantly impressed with the food and service! Beignets were amazing. The fried goat cheese is definitely a must try! I had shrimp and grits with catfish, which was absolutely delicious and amazing! Was able to have a beverage while waiting for our table. If you're thinking about getting a Bloody Mary, do it! Opt for the pork rinds as an add on, you will NOT be disappointed!

Here for the first time and brought our guests from Brasil, we enjoyed the food so much! The Chicken Waffle was outstanding with a flavorful syrup and the chicken crispy and moist inside. The eggs and bacon were just perfect and biscuits just right. We had copious cups of gourmet coffee! The service was outstanding making this a must go place in Alpharetta!
