14 Best Spas in New York City, According to Our Wellness-Obsessed Editors | Condé Nast Traveler

"This is one of the best hotel spas in the city, both for its lovely facilities and the breadth and diversity of its offerings. The main wellness floor houses a 75-foot heated lap pool, a well-stocked fitness center (with Peloton bikes), a steam room and infrared sauna, and a sundeck. In the spa, services range from on-target massages, pampering body rituals and effective facials using premium skin care products to meditation, stretching and mindfulness. One-on-one sessions in yoga, boxing, personal training and more are available, and the hotel also partners with leading industry experts focused on mind, body and advanced skincare through The Collective – its innovative wellness program—for special experiences." - CNT Editors

Upon my arrival at your hotel for a couples massage and spa day, I entrusted my car keys to your valet service, expecting a seamless experience. However, when I was ready to depart, the valet refused to return my car to me at the hotel entrance. I was informed that I needed to walk one block away to a third-party parking garage to retrieve it myself. I was never informed of this policy or arrangement whenl handed over my keys. Had I been aware that your valet service would not return my vehicle directly to the hotel, I would have made alternative parking arrangements. The lack of clear communication and the inconvenience of having to walk to retrieve my car significantly detracted from what was supposed to be a relaxing spa day. Staff took no responsibility and we very rude to me upon raising the concern.

Had a 90-min massage yesterday. Service was performed by an Asian female therapist who repeatedly said she was “confused” with my pressure instructions and that she was “not sure” if she could do a deep massage today. Moreover, the therapist lacked training in both proper service manner and massage technique. Massage was at times extremely sharp and uncomfortable, resulting in discomfort and pain even a day after. Front desk did not bother to ask how the service was. Will not return.

Articles (multiple) that rank this place as one of the best spas are factually incorrect about the amenities -- you will not get access to anything other than a tiny steam that barely accommodate 2 people and a lounge that's cramped and noisy should there be any concurrent service guests. Go to bathhouse, shibui or any other player. Scandalized.

The Four Seasons downtown offers one of the best sanctuaries in the city. It’s a small spa tastefully designed with neutral tones throughout. The staff are friendly and competent and provide one of the best booking experiences I have ever had. Massages are wonderful, everyone is a seasoned therapist so you can’t go wrong:). Worth the splurge! Also opens on thanksgiving and other major holiday.

We went for a couples massage and the massage was great but that's where everything ended. The website is very deceiving - they show pictures of the pool, sauna, etc but when you get there, it turns out that the pool and sauna are not available to you, they're only available to residents and the hotel guests. At one point, the manager came to speak to me and he was one of the worst managers I've ever seen. All kidding aside, they really need to replace him, I wouldn't put him in charge of a McDonald's. He told me it's noted in the confirmation. Who reads a confirmation except for when you're double checking your time?? I explained to him that it was very deceiving; his response was that it was marketing and not the spa who did it. I reiterated that it was very deceiving to put pool pics in the spa photos. I also mentioned the sauna not being there but mentioned in the amenities and photos. He responded by telling me that the sauna is a separate service that you can book. We pulled up the booking page and asked him to show us where it was! He didn't even know where it was either! I've been to four seasons hotels, restaurants, and spas around the world and have always enjoyed myself but this was the worst experience I've ever had and the worst customer service I've ever had. At the end, I told him that I didn't appreciate how deceptive it is and his response, so I would not be returning to this location. His response? I'm sorry to hear that It's a shame because I've been to their locations in Vegas, Chicago, Orlando, both locations in London, Abu Dhabi, and have always had great experiences but the experience at the downtown location was horrible. Between deceptive practices and an incompetent spa manager, I would avoid this location like the plague.

Treated my daughter to have a 60 minute full body massage for her Birthday. The Spa sends you a survey to ask your preferences but do they read it is another story. Unfortunately it did not turn out well. She was disappointed with the massage, she asked for deep massage and felt as if the lady put suntan lotion on her for 60 minutes. For the price that was paid, totally disappointed.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize Veronika, my exceptional nail technician. I get gel manicures every 2-3 weeks, and have had many quality nail technicians over the years - but Veronika's attention to detail and dedication to her craft is above and beyond. Taking my nail shape, desired look and preferred products into consideration her approach was meticulous in every detail; and a world apart from the "paint job" that many less skilled technicians rush through. I only wish I lived in NYC so I could see her on a more frequent basis. For nails, look no further - Veronika at the Four Seasons Downtown is the BEST OF THE BEST!

I was really excited to book a session with a friend that's a healer here. After booking, I was sent a confirmation where the price was $75 more than listed on the website. After speaking to a manager, the Four Seasons takes no accountability and just chalks this up to a "glitch" in their system. Whereas in reality, they just hadn't updated their website; falsely advertising services. I definitely don't feel comfortable supporting a company that behaves this way. Isn't this considered fraud and deceptive marketing?
