What a treat to get a spa service at Madonna Inn, and then be able to use the pool and Jacuzzi and poolside bar before and/or after - so much fun!
My massage therapist was good, but had 'busy hands' (that's what we called it when I went to massage school if somebody was just massaging really fast) she was good though but most of the time felt like it was in fast forward motion as far as the tempo, and I just wish that she had done like 10 Long slow strokes, instead of 20 really fast strokes, but whatever.... basically you'll take whatever you can get in these situations, but it's just for those kind of prices you want it to be like blow your mind awesome, You know???
But I loved that you get a robe and flip-flops and a towel. And when you're checking in, it's a cute little retail area, and then the locker room and showers a very clean and beautiful and after your massage, they take you into like a little chill room with mediocre cookies and tea, but still a nice touch, just any of those little extras are fun and just make it a neat experience, and when you are checking in, they give you a little container of body scrub! That is so awesome and a nice touch so you can give yourself a scrub down, so even if you didn't get any kind of body treatment, you can kind of treat yourself after getting your regular spa treatment to a self-applied body scrub! Another nice little touch.
And then I went out to the pool. I got a so- so Pina Colada and a disgusting Caesar salad with chicken. The bartender was really awesome by the way though, and the pool and Jacuzzi was clean and beautiful. It was a wonderful experience overall, but the salad, it just totally grossed me out, because I just ate the Leftovers today, and the lettuce had turned completely Brown very quickly ( which is kind of more cut romaine's fault than the madonna inn), But what really grossed me out is the dressing was like Mayonnaise-based! BLECH
I used to make homemade Caesar dressing tableside when I waitressed at a rooftop restaurant in downtown Seattle, and I know that Mayonnaise does not belong in a Caesar salad! I tried to like jazz it up here at home Because I have fresh, shaved parmesan, fresh cracked black pepper and Gerard's amazing Caesar dressing, but I knew because of the heavy Mayonnaise based dressing they had put on my Caesar salad that I needed to bring in the big dogs and add a little dollop of Garlic.
Dijon mustard and lemon juice to a splash of girards and whisk it up in a bowl and put it on the salad to give it some dimension and lighten it up and give it some tangyness with the mustard and lemon juice. But it was not salvageable because of the disgusting heavy disgusting, bizarre, mayonnaise-based dressing. GROSS. Also, I had looked up the menu the day before and had it narrowed down to the chicken Caesar salad or the BLT add avocado, and I must say, I definitely should've gotten the BLT add avocado.
I pictured the chicken on the chicken Caesar salad being grilled or being able to get it blackened as an option, but The bartender/ server that I was ordering it with was like nope. It is just regular chicken, and that is your only option - which was boiled. And it was gross. It had no flavor and the texture was weird, I guess I'm just not a fan of boiled chicken anyway, so there was really no way to make that better, unless I could get it grilled or get some cajun blackening seasoning on there. So clearly I definitely will not be getting a Caesar salad there ever again!
But everything else was lovely and I definitely will go back for the pool and the Jacuzzi and some drinks poolside and a spa treatment. Maybe next time I'll get a facial?
Overall, I do recommend this experience getting a spa treatment and spending some time poolside and getting a drink or two, and maybe something to eat, but not the chicken caesar!
