My wife and I spent two nights at the Spinnaker in June 2024. We arrived and were shown to our upstairs room and found it extremely clean and tidy even though the building itself is reasonably old. The housemaid assured us that if we needed anything then just ask her and she would sort it. We wanted for nothing and the next thing was to go downstairs for dinner. The food was to die for, especially the Lentil and Bacon soup, it was extraordinarily delicious ... I even had it again the next day as well. We ate all our meals at the Spinnaker while in Gourock and found the food to be way above average. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we shall certainly stay there again when next in Scotland.

!0 of us for a work reunion. Pre booked our food. Food and service was first class. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for good food in a cosy friendly atmosphere. Varied menu with good portions. I had the smoked haddock and it was up there with the best I have had.

We visited for our evening meal. We pre booked and were given a table in the bay window at the front with amazing views across the Clyde. We also brought our dog, Humphrey, who was made very welcome. The food was excellent and we received very good service from our waitress. We didn’t catch her name but she had several tattoos. The restaurant was very very busy with a big party taking up a whole room. We would recommend booking especially at the weekend. Despite it being packed it had a good atmosphere and wasn’t too loud - we like it fairly quiet!

Visited for a drink earlier this evening. Never again. I have never been spoken to so rudely by a member of staff. We need this table back in 15 minutes she thundered. Could have been a scene in Fawlty Towers. Shame as out for a nice drink with my family. They certainly do not understand the hospitality industry.

We were in Gourock for a gig on St Andrews Day and stayed at this wonderful hotel. Our room was first rate. Our meal was worthy of a Michelin star restaurant. The staff were fantastic and we could not have had a better stay. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Just one word...SUPERB. rooms very clean and decor is perfect. Food is out of this world! The breakfast is sublime. Ground floor room 9 is perfect for wheelchair users and has a large bathroom. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, the young lady who originally hails from Manchester really made us feel at ease and very welcomed. I would recommend staying here without doubt. The views are breathtakingly stunning too...

Another great stay at the Spinnaker. It never disappoints. We ate there every night as the menu is so good. We have our favourites but do try some of the other dishes on offer and are always rubbernecking and sniffing as the “Crew” pass us with plates for other tables! Glad they keep the steak pie and mac n’ cheese on though. We usually drink the excellently kept Guinness but we tried the Belhaven Black and kept on drinking that. Quite a bit cheaper and just as well kept We’ll with a try if you like Guinness. |There’s a wide range of breakfast dishes to choose from though our preference is the Small Spinney which is more than enough for us. The bedrooms are kept squeaky clean and stocked with teas, coffees etc with biscuits everyday. |The front rooms have fantastic views over the Clyde and whether it’s sunny or wet can be spectacular. We were lucky this time.

Just what it said on the tin! We were up on the Clyde for the last sailing of PS Waverley so needed handy to stay in a place that was convientient for the sailing fron Greenock. |It was everything we wanted and we also wanted somewhere that we had the choice of using the bus if we needed to. |We love the area and have been coming for many years.|For some reason we hadn't stayed at the Spinnaker for a while but we'll be staying again next year. |The staff were very attentive but not over the top. |It is also handy for the prom to watch the every changing Clyde. It is well kept and a road cleaner comes around picks up litter in the morning and there is a rare public toilet.

Yelp
A favourite downt the Clyde Coast, The Spinnaker has been filling bellies and quenching thirsts for years now. The perfect place to stop when on a long walk along the front of Gourock for a beer on a picnic table out front. The Spinnaker is a serious sun trap and on a beautiful day the place is mobbed with people, but in a nice jovial way! Get a nice, cold pint, or a glass of cool white wine and enjoy the company and the view. The food in here is pretty good as well. The lamb shank is cracking, as is the steak pie. And a wee tip, order from the specials board as they are ace, and the food is very reasonably pirced! For a beer garden in Inverclyde you canny beat it. In fact, now I think about it, what other beer gardens can boast stunning views of the gateway to the highlands!
